I love teriyaki and I never realized before I moved to San Diego that it's not nearly as popular in other parts of the country as it is in the Seattle area. It's always on my list of must haves when I come home to visit. It's been quite awhile since I've eaten teriyaki in Snohomish and I couldn't remember which teriyaki place I liked the best. I decided to just give Niko a try because I remember eating here when I was in high school. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and my boyfriend, who is vegetarian, ordered the tofu teriyaki. Here's what it comes down to: the chicken teriyaki is delicious and along the lines of other teriyaki in the area. The tofu teriyaki is not so good. It was basically a slab of tofu on top of white rice with a little bit of teriyaki drizzled on top. I added a lot more sauce from one of the bottles on the table but even that, combined with sriracha at home, couldn't save the dish. It desperately needed some veggies to brighten it up and add some variety. Tofu on its own just can't carry a teriyaki dish. read more

Nikko Teriyaki is definitely worth consideration when you consider other teriyaki options in town. Nikko is the better of the bunch but no where near my fav teriyaki around. The spicy chicken teriyaki was good and had a decent spice. I enjoyed the gyoza but I wasn't a fan of the yakisoba, it fell flat for me. The dressing on the salad wasn't good at all, some kind of ranch. I prefer the typical teriyaki dressing of sesame whatever. If I could give three and a half stars I would but it's definitely not in the four star category. Super friendly workers!! read more

There are definitely two other teriyaki joints I'd choose over it but I recommend this place. Nice roomy sitting area for a small teriyaki joint and prices are decent. But don't expect much for teriyaki. I mean, most joints claim to be the best but it's still just chicken with flavors here. Cooked in strips and served with rice and salad. Again, yummy but if you're expecting special, you might want to stick with your favorite place. A little burnt and lots more sauce than needed but still yummy. My friend just moved into downtown Snohomish so we scoped out all the Teriyaki places in town. The first place we went to was out by Fred Meyer in Snohomish and the people were very rude and not helpful. There was a young girl (in her 20s? Maybe) who was working the register. We didn't order. We just left. Then I noticed all the nice reviews of this place and oh my goodness! What a night & day difference!! The young man here is so polite. It was "yes Ma'am, Thank You Ma'am" everything! He was so helpful and upbeat! I ordered the regular Teriyaki and my friend had a custom tofu stir fry. No Bubble tea here, which was the only disappointment. But no worries, we'll be back. read more

Update: I'm downgrading them from 3 to 2 stars because of tonight's experience. I need to eat low carb because I'm diabetic, so I chose to order Kung Pao chicken. Their Kung Pao chicken is nothing like any KP chicken I've ever encountered. Definitely not low carb. It was, again, poor quality meat. It was Orange Chicken that they tried to disguise as KP chicken by throwing in canned peas and carrots (what???) some baby corn, some raw peanuts, and fried onions. None of the traditional celery or bell peppers. Not even cooked peanuts. It was just... yuck. There was absolutely no heat and it was just sweet and bready. Big pieces of breaded chicken so even if I wanted those gross vegetables I wouldn't have been able to get them in the same bite with the chicken pieces, which included skin, fat, and gristle. They only get 2 stars because they're friendly. They really need to try harder if they want repeat business. I could make better KP chicken than this! The owners are very friendly and I really want to like the food more than I do. The flavor is pretty good but the quality of the meat they use isn't acceptable to me. I can't stand getting a bite of gristle (or other piece of yuck) when I'm eating meat. It turns my stomach. Unfortunately, this happens here a little too often. The other downside is that I generally love the salad dressing teriyaki restaurants use, but this one is just a watered down ranch. So, nice people, good flavor, bad quality, boring dressing. Gross! First time I can remember throwing a full lunch in trash! I eat low-carb and I travel. Spicy chicken teriyaki is my jam. I should have asked for my money back, but I didn't want to embarrass the woman at the counter. It was a to-go order. The meat was poor quality. It tasted dry and reheated from previous day. Chicken smelled funny, like a "wet dog"!! The salad was wilted and dressing seemed off, as well. If you want great teriyaki get out of Snohomish. It's a diner town.. Niko offers good food from a menu with many choices. There isn't anything here that will wow you, but as one reviewer stated, the quality and service is consistent. They've been in the same location for many years and have developed a regular clientele of people who appreciate this. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. But I wouldn't snub my nose either. I got the gyoza chicken lunch special. The sauce out of the bottle is different than most but not really in a bad way. To me it was just okay. The gyoza was fried and dripped water when holding it up. It wasn't that good at all. The rice was done well. The salad was standard bagged and had an overly salty ranch on it, but not too bad. The chicken was actually the best part of the meal. It had a nice smokey and robust flavor as well as crisp black grill marks. So all things said it deserves the three stars. read more

This restaurant is located in a small strip mall on D Street in Snohomish. there is plenty of parking and seating available. I had Teriyaki Beef with chicken along with salad and rice. While the food was not cooked to order the taste of both the beef and chicken was exceptional. The quantity of the food is high so come hungry to this restaurant. Decent chicken and rice, I always order to go and noticed the salad was soggy and wilted in the little container , 3 times in a row. I was going to make a scene about it next time I went in. Apparently I interrupted the cooks cigarette at the front door, the lady who usually takes the orders wasn't there. He took my order. I tried to ask him a specific question about one of the other dishes, and realized he only spoke 4 words of english. Niko Teriyaki is by far the best teriyaki in Snohomish, even in the whole Seattle area. The staff are so kind and friendly. I grew up going here and even to this day when I'm back in town, I have to stop by Niko at some point and every time they recognize me and ask me about school and my family. It just really feels like a small town family run business and you can't ask for a friendlier vibe. I highly recommend the gyoza, or if you need a smaller lunch, the student is cheap and simple but delicious. read more
