My teriyaki dinner
Joel G.

I have ordered a lot of good food from this place over the years and this is my first time I wasn't happy with my order. The chicken teriyaki had no teriyaki sauce on it and the salad tasted different. They may have changed ownership or they have a new cook. I know it's very hard for the small business to make it here in these hard times. I would hope the small businesses wouldn't change the quality or the amount of food they give out. I always love eating this food in the past and it takes just one time to get something bad and then I will not want to come back here for a long time. I very sorry that I need to say that.

Salmon Bento. Lemon wedge is same size of piece of salmon! Rest of meal really good.

Definitely not here to rip this place apart. I'm visiting from out of town and my parents eat here often. I would just like to ask for a small menu adjustment regarding the Salmon Bento plate. The meal in itself was good but I would describe the piece of salmon like a nugget, a salmon nugget. The lemon wedge that came with the salmon was the same size! Please make menu update regarding the size of the piece of salmon or update it to salmon nugget bento plate. The rest of the food was enjoyable!

Everything on the menu is delicious!

Small place in Lake Stevens serving amazingly good teriyaki and Asian food. They also have sushi but I haven't tried it. I usually go for the combo items or the teriyaki specials which are all delicious. Food comes with lots of rice, a salad and a friendly staff. Come try it out, you will love it!

Good food, good portions. Fast service. Staff are very nice. I got the broccoli teriyaki and the broccoli was steamed perfectly. Not mush.

The menu offers a solid variety of sushi rolls and sashimi, and everything we tried tasted incredibly fresh. You can tell there's real attention to quality and presentation here. Service was just as impressive--our waiter was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there, which always elevates the experience. Overall, a great spot for fresh sushi and a relaxed vibe. I'll absolutely be back, especially to take full advantage of that happy hour next time.

While looking over the menu, my wife ordered a 16oz draft Sapporo for $8 and I ordered a glass of Toscano Sangiovese for $13. My wine pour did not seem like a full 5oz standard pour but rather a 4oz reduced pour. We shared the Chicken Karaage for $15.95: Japanese Fried Chicken. The appetizer was undercooked and visually unappealing. My wife ordered the Pork Katsu Donburi for $16.45. Served with Miso Soup. Bland. I ordered the Hamalapeno Roll for $18.95: crab mix, avocado and cucumber, topped with fresh jalapeno. After dinner my wife sipped on a 1oz Jameson pour for $10. I sipped on an Old Fashioned for $15. Service was decent. Overall, Kiyama Sushi is overpriced serving underwhelming food. We will not return.

Katana is one of our favorite higher end sushi spots and always has a great date night vibe. It was super busy for the holiday, but the staff handled it really well and everything came out quickly. We ordered the shishito peppers, calamari, and spicy tuna roll from the HH menu, plus the 12th Man roll and shrimp tempura roll. Definitely recommend coming during happy hour because the prices are great and the portions are still full size. We'll have to come back after the baby arrives so I can fully enjoy the experience (and cocktails)

Our server was warm and walked us through the menu, helping us decide on the cracked out bluefin for an appetizer and a variety of rolls. The bluefin was the best part of our meal. Spicy, flavorful, and the wonton chips were a fun addition. The other rolls, however, didn't feel of the highest quality. We were super excited about the crispy firecracker, but the roll lacked salmon and wasn't a bit spicy. Overall, I probably wouldn't return here. For the price point, there are better options in the area.

I ordered the Godzilla Attack Spicy with Chicken for $12.50: 12 Spice Sprinkled on Chicken Katsu, Jalapenos (pickled), Pepper Jack Cheese, Tonakatsu Sauce and Spicy Mayo. I ordered my burger without a bun and all the burger toppings. I was disappointed that the jalapenos were pickled rather than freshly sliced. After trying the pork, beef and chicken, we both decided that the chicken was the better tasting of them all. Overall, Katsu Burger did not impress either one of us. Staff wasn't friendly. My plans to resupply at the…read moreEverett Chef's store has now been twice thwarted: last night and now today around 12:00 noon. Undaunted, I decided to pay a visit to the Lake Stevens Tom Thumb on the way back after escaping the pending mind numbing experience of gridlock. A few weeks ago I read a glib mention of good Chinese food being offered there for lunch. A good time to check it out. (Really? "Good" Chinese food? At TT ?) Frankly, I wasn't too eager to check it out. But the short mention I had read had the ring of a true believer. Someone who approached food with some reverence. Best not to ignore fate. Saturday noon time at the Thumb wasn't busy. I chalked that up to the flooding or just plain luck. The hot food section had a few odds and ends but nothing Asian. I asked about the Chinese food to a female customer nearby. In a hushed voice laced with fanaticism she handed me a menu pamphlet and said the bacon fried rice was her favorite. Then gave me a knowing look as if to say I was in the good hands of Providence. The manager was quick to show up. He greeted me warmly, made sure I had a menu, took my order, and offered me a place to sit and wait. A quick scan showed all the usual favorites of beef/shrimp, Chow Mein/Rice, chicken, appetizers, and vegetarian dishes. Dishes were easily recognizable by name. One or two rice dishes that I've never seen before. And several lunch special dishes. Three sauces are explained to aid in your decision making. I chose a dinner portion of sesame chicken. My experience with this dish in many places is the same: pre frozen breast meat that's been dipped in a batter. Then flash frozen and packaged. Or it is dredged in flour or dipped in a batter, then fried to a semi hard tensile strength in dark clumps. The line cook fries a portion in hot oil, then it is drained and sauced with honey or maybe maple syrup and soy sauce and brown sugar. Sometimes it's darker in color due to overcooking in oil or adding too much soy sauce. Since it is a chicken dish, it requires one to wade through a fried dough experience first, with the sauce adding to the experience. The sauce is typically overly sweet. Too much honey, sugar, or syrup. After the third bite it's just too sweet. One could compare it to a chicken filled super glazed donut. So it was either the sesame chicken or the other dish I frequently find disappointing: Orange chicken. I chose the sesame. Let's see what these folks can do. In less than ten minutes it was ready. I was thanked for coming by and was on my way home. I could tell from the weight I had about two pounds of sesame chicken. I was right: 1.92 pounds when I weighed it at home. The portion was huge. And some skill in presentation was added. Just enough to frame the dish: broccoli florets. That little addition did not go unnoticed. It made the dish pop when I opened the container. The chicken was obviously fresh. Not frozen. It had been coated with flour and corn starch. Fried but not to the point of it being crusty. Chewy. Not dry or tough. Moist. Chewy. Not doughy. The sauce was not overly sweet. The chef exercised restraint and allowed the sweetness to come through, but not dominate. I could taste sesame. After appreciating the dish, I tried adding some of the soy sauce from a packet they supplied. A slightly different complex of flavors but the chicken and sesame dominated. It provided a balanced harmony. Not better. Slightly different. So for $17.45 (including tax), a very well executed sesame chicken with the portion easily feeding two adults. Take out only. Fast and friendly service until 9 PM. My thanks to anyone who posts even a snippet of something about a place to give us a heads up. Had I not read that short comment about this place, I would have missed out. To that perThank you!
