Food is going downhill. I usually drive out of my way (from Marysville where we have Thai food) because it's my favorite. My last two times ordering have been really bad. We usually order garlic pepper chicken, or cashew chicken, pad see ew, and Mongolian beef. (Yes, I realize that some of these are not Thai but they still make them delicious). The last two times that I've ordered the pad see ew, the tofu that I like it with has been overcooked to the point of rubber, as have the noodles, and the sauce is now too sweet. After trying to come a different day only to find out they were closed for training, we finally got to try Bua. It wasn't bad, but we were not overly impressed. The interior was very nice and clean. The waitress was nice and attentive. The pad See ew was very sweet. The fried rice had egg shell in it. They were out of thai tea. Only ordered two Boba drinks..... both had little to no Boba in them and both drinks tasted extremely watered down and weak. Ordered a taro and a strawberry milk drink Maybe one day I'll try their food, but for sure won't be ordering Boba from them again. read more

Stopped by for dinner on a Wednesday and was able to get a seat right away. The restaurant wasn't busy and the servers were very attentive as we sat down and ordered our appetizers and main dishes. We ordered the appetizer Sampler, Pad Thai, and Pad Kee Mao. The food came out quickly and we dove right in. The noodles may have been a little overcooked, if I'm being nitpicky, but the flavor was good. My friend asked for a mild spice level, and he was happy with that. I asked for medium, but didn't really feel the kick or tingle in my nose like I wanted. Overall it was a good experience and a good spot if you're looking for something late night. read more

I enjoy their food. I have been here, several times and everything always tastes fresh and flavorful. Their portions are decent and I can get 2 meals, out of my 1 entree usually. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. Many friends have recommended it. With that said the ambiance was nice and more upscale than I expected. It has a relaxed atmosphere with light jazz playing in the background so we could have a good conversation. Service was polite and quick. The down side was we were never asked about the heat level ultra we wanted. Most in our party enjoy med-hot and this had no spice at all. It was rather boring and bland. The service was awful. I got my meal an hour (literally) after my son and husband. My 7 year old nephew got served right before we got the bill (chicken nuggets and fries). I kept asking about the chicken nuggets for over an hour with no response. We said no thank you to that meal as he had eaten white rice. My egg rolls were still half frozen inside. The server brought "garlic chicken" to my mom. My mom was eating it. Server came back and said that's the sweet and sour chicken. She expected my mom to pass it down, partially eaten to my grandma. The food was incredible and the service was even better. This little place is a gem in Lake Stevens. Not a big place but had a great vibe. Perfect little lunch or dinner spot. I had a Thai iced tea which was perfect! I followed the up with the Bua wings and the crispy garlic chicken. The wings were amazing and the seasoning they put on top is unmatched. My favorite Thai place (and Ive been to quite a few ) the flavors always HIT, I get the beef pad Thai 3 or 4 stars every time. Off the chain, they have been leaning on the less spicy side as of late though so if you're really looking for heat I'd say go higher than your average. Thai tea is absolutely delicious. Thai used to be my favorite food, now it is Thai fusion. You do not expect such elegance off the side of a main road in the forest, but the food exceeds expectation. I have been to Singapore, Los Angeles and San Francisco. BUA in Lake Stevens is one of the best restaurants I have walked in to. Everything can be made vegan. The food is attractive, sweet, a perfect balance and temperature- not to mention tasty. I had the avocado curry with tofu, paired with a Reisling. Once the spoon touches the tip of your tongue, your stomach opens like a spring flower. I inhaled the meal in silence with my friend. We cleaned out plates. The portion didn't leave us stuffed but we were warm, content and ready for a nap. We loved the food and service. We will definitely be back to check out that coconut sake. read more

Don't go here expecting the average American Thai restaurant; it is definitely more fusion than most. We ordered pad see ew and pad kee mao. Everything was cooked well (veges crisp, noodles not too chewy/sticky, meat/tofu seared nicely), but the flavors were really lacking. It was not spicy at all, the basil walked through with its boots on, and the primary flavor just seemed to be the sugar used in the sauce. Perhaps this caters to the local palette? Whatever the case, it wasn't my preference. The price was reasonable but I'd probably pass up a repeat visit. At the same time, I want to be fair and not roast a business just because my taste buds happen to disagree with other people's taste buds. But I think for "classic" American Thai restaurant dishes, it's reasonable to have some preconceived expectations about how they should taste. read more

I would totally give a 5 except I have had a couple times I haven't loved it. The pad Thai is just not for me. Maybe it's more traditional and I like it more Americanized?? Oh Emmm Gee, I had no idea when I ordered this food that it was coming from Lake Stevens. I am so impressed, because I live in South Everett. That is a heck of a long way for food to be delivered, and it arrived so quickly, and it was well packaged. So impressive! I ordered the Rama Noodles with no spice. Don't let the no spice lead you to think it's bland. No sirree Bob, this is so full of flavor with yummy veggies and wide noodles. Before I go further, I want to talk about the way the food was packaged. The noodles, meat and veggies were all together in one container, while the peanut sauce was in its very own container. This resulted in not soggy food that was yummy, yummy, yummy! Did I mention it was yummy? I ordered a Thai fresh roll, which was difficult to eat, because it basically fell apart when one tries to dip it in the peanut sauce. However, it didn't take away from the flavor of the dish, so I didn't take any stars away.. So, this order was a happy little accident when I placed it. Solid Thai food. We go there quite often, and it's really reliable. We've tried most things on the menu and generally get the garlic chicken (great flavor although a bit miserly on the chicken amount), massaman curry (delish), and basil fried rice (nom). My bestie and I stopped into BUA for our birthday gift exchange. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Credit cards are accepted. Indoors is small but clean. Conversations are easily heard from other tables. Kitchen staff looks directly out to the restaurant so it's a bit awkward. We started off by ordering a bottle of house Cabernet Sauvignon for $21 to sip on while we viewed the menu. Additional glasses were $6. The wine glasses were really thick and reminded us of casino wine glasses. Hopefully in the future, BUA will be provide better wine glasses. For starters we shared the Fried Brussels Sprouts for $8: fried Brussels sprouts seasoned with Thai-Japanese flavoring. Absolutely delicious. I have thought of these Brussels several times since eating them. My bestie ordered the Crispy Chicken with Cashew Nuts for $12.95: deep-fried chicken thigh, sauteed onion, bell pepper, carrot, mushroom, celery and baby corn. My bestie did not care for her meal choice. She boxed it up and took home to her boys. I ordered the Red Alert (Prik Gaeng) for $11.95 + $1 up-charge for Black Bean Brown Rice: chicken breast, onion, bell pepper, carrot, celery, green bean, baby corn, basil and red curry. I requested a 5* heat level and received a 5* heat level. My dish was nice and flavorsome. My bestie and I ended up sharing my dish. The service was friendly. Efficiency needs a bit of work. My bestie had a Val-Pak coupon for "buy one entree and receive the second entree for 50% off". Rather than take the discount off of the entree, our server took the discount off of the appetizer (Brussels). The correction was made after we brought the error to our servers attention. Be sure to check your receipts for errors. Overall, BUA serves some tasty food at reasonable prices. Val-Pak coupons will continue to entice me to patronize BUA. read more

We've ordered takeout from BUA Thai regularly over the past couple of years. The people are always very nice, the restaurant is very clean, and the owners are conscientious members of the community. That's why it pains me to give the food the most mediocre of reviews. We ordered the Pineapple Curry and the Pad Thai--not adventurous choices but also things that most Thai restaurants do well. The curry had decent flavor and heat. The Pad Thai, on the other hand, was bland and tasted like some important seasonings had been left out.
