I went to Home Advisor--Next Morning he shows up at my house unexpectedly and gives me a quote--says back in the afternoon--They did the work and honestly was a good job removing the trees--the problem I had was the cleanup--He was to remove all stumps from my fruit trees--I went and and there is still a lot of stump left. The cleanup was not good--when taking the branches and stuff out to truck they dropped a lot in my pool and never bothered to clean up. Where the trees were removed they left huge holes instead of covering up with dirt. I texted him this morning to let him know I was unhappy with the clean up (or really back job of cleaning up) and have not heard back--Not as quick to respond to you when job is done and you have a problem. Disappointed in this. read more

If you need your tree trimmed, I would advise you to look somewhere else. I had a big tree trimmed 6/24/19 and in the process my roof and window ledge were damaged. I filed a claim against this company's bond and was told that my problem was not about workmanship, but rather about poor workmanship and that was not covered under their bond with Old Republic Surety Company. Wow huh? Martin Aguilar had promised me that he would send a roofer to make the repairs and 21 days later, no one has contacted me to have the problem resolved. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I felt impelled to take the time to write this one. My parents had an older very large tree that they were nervous about trimming themselves. My dad spoke with Brian he gave him a quote on a Friday and said he would be out first thing on Monday morning to take care of it for him. Long story short, there was a big mis-communication on Monday and they never showed. Brian himself came over Monday afternoon to apologize and said they would be over between 8 and 9am the next morning. His crew showed up at 7:10am and had the tree done in 35 mins. They were very professional and gave my parents a piece of mind and not having to trim this tree themselves. I just would like to say thank you for the great job you did for them! read more

Hi I'm pam from Compton and I'm super happy with HLI services. Saturday was the second tree that they remove from my house. I got excellent service, they were quick and neat!!! If I had anymore trees I would call them back. My services were great and I would recommend them to a friend, Thanks HLI " your the best" Pam read more

While trimming the trees in my neighbors yard, the total pros at HLI carelessly and without any apparent regard for my property, allowed heavy limbs and branches to fall and do considerable damage to the hibiscus that line my side of the fence. In addition they let branches completely engulf my boat. They acted oblivious to the minor disaster they created until my wife went over and asked what they intended to do to remedy the situation. With an irritated and cavalier attitude, they reluctantly agreed to clean their mess. My yard would still be full of branches if my wife hadn't gone over and confronted them. I suspect the HL stands for Horrible Landscapers, which makes the "I" Irrelevant! read more

I asked for a quote they showed up the next day and on time. Very professional and they did an amazing job trimming my palm tree and cleaning up. My yard looked better than when they started. They also cleaned up the palm mess that landed in my neighbors yard. I highly recommend this company and will be using them again. read more

My wife contacted HLI because it was time to trim our eucalyptus trees. Leonard, the boss, came by and quoted us a price for trimming, fire wood cutting and removal of a few trees that were dead. Leonard was up front about the whole job. A contract was signed and the next day the work started. The back was the first stop. Trimmed trees, removal of old ones and stump grinding the ones that were removed. The wood was stacked and cut for fire wood as well. They didn't finish the back in day one since there was a plethora of trees. I went out after the workers were finished for the day and had a few items that needed attention. I contacted Leonard and he assured me they will be taken care of the next day. Day two and a whole broad of guys showed up to finish the back and start in the front. Leonard was there as well to take care of the items I had mentioned in our conversation. I watched and had the mrs point out anything that was not pleasing to her. Carlos, Leonards helping hand, took care of what was needed. I found a few more trees that needed attention and they were handled. I took one last walk through to see if everything was to my liking. The yard was cleaned up and HCI was on its way. The job took two days. There were some language barriers with some of the workers but nothing that couldn't be handled with a phone call. Over all good job and would definitely hire again and will refer to friends! Thank you! read more

Excellent service!... And most importantly fast. I had a palm frond encroaching on a powerline and they came out right away! Very nice guys and clean up was great! I highly recommend you call them! read more

I am so impressed by HLI. After being completely ignored and blown off by a previous tree company, my husband found HLI. He called and they agreed to come the next morning at 8 am. Not only did they show up exactly on time, they got to work immediately and I've never seen such efficient work! They cut down our very tall tree and ground down the stump within the first 30 mins of being here. Not only did they do an excellent job on our tree, they trimmed both of our very tall palm trees at no extra cost and they gave our two young boys three tree stumps to keep even after loading them up per our request. They cleaned up everything and put our solar lights, etc all back where it was as well. I can not recommend them enough! Professional, reasonable, and very friendly! Thanks HLI! read more

Quick and clean, good pricing and communication. They cleaned out a few big pines very quickly. They had the right equipment

HLI was referred to me from a friend that uses them often. I needed 3 trees removed from my back yard and 2 from my front yard. The workers were at my house bright and early which I thought was great! They did such a great job removing them and also left my yard clean. They also cleaned my neighbors yard since a lot of the branches went over. The guys were very professional! Price was great! Compared to other quotes I received. I would definitely hire them again if ever needed and definitely recommend them to everyone. Speak with Leonard he will definitely help you out and answer any questions. read more

Leo and his crew did an awesome job . Came in 30 minutes for a quote and trees were down and every cleaned up in about an hour or less great job couldn't be happier read more

Great job at trimming our trees! Thank you for the hard work!

We used HLI and were very impressed with the price and service. Lenardo was great, estimate was quick and job was done in a day. Our job was 40 trees, would definitely use next time. read more

Followed me down the driveway to ask if I needed a dead pine removed. Came that afternoon and finished up the next morning. Fabulous service, polite workers and great job cleaning up.... good price as well. Exceeded my expectations. read more

They got more work done in an hour than a guy did with a lift in a day last year! Very brave to climb the trees!

Stay AWAY!!! This tree trim outfit is reckless and shady, shady, shady. Carlos, the sales rep, is very charming and engaging until....he has received your payment. After you have given him the check, his charm and customer service make a hasty exit. My neighbor contracted with them to cut down 3 giant ash trees in downtown Riverside. The trees were near my property line. The tree trim crew of about 6 workers were haphazard and dangerously reckless. Carlos, the alleged supervisor, set them all working in the trees and at the word chipper, while he took off to get them lunch. I suspect Leo was actually grifting other would be customers. The tree crew had boughs of the trees falling everywhere. They dropped multiple tree limbs on power lines and cable lines. We were on pins and needles watching heavy limbs fall onto live power lines. Due to the actions of the tree crew, my house was out of internet services for 3 days. We work from home on virtual meetings, and this made our ability to work almost impossible. Due to the inexperience and reckless behavior of the tree crew, we had to have the internet lines repaired at the first available repair appointment...3 days later. Additionally, a member of the tree crew came onto my property without permission, and our large guard dog chased him. The dog was merely doing his job. No one forewarned us or asked our permission. The worker being pursued by the dog was so frightened that he jumped on our fence and broke the post and our gate latch. The HLI tree NOT-experts stayed in the trees and watched their co-worker run around screaming like an opera singer. The HLI tree NOT-experts crew only laughed. And then they added insult to injury be saying..."he doesn't speak English!" My retort was, "Why didn't you warn him about the dog in Spanish!" They set up their co-worker for their pure entertainment. The final insult is the damage we sustained due to this unprofessional action of the HLI NON-expert tree crew. I was told by Carlos that they would take care of it, but as soon as I obtained an estimate for the property repairs and sent it to Carlos, well he was conveniently unavailable. Then to add to his arrogance, he said it was 'too much' and he would ask the business owner Leo. We then reached out to Leo and all Leo had to say was, "I already talked to you!" The arrogance and customer abuse from Carlos and Leo is beyond measure. Only caveat is that HLI Tree Co. appear to carry liability insurance, and now we will be required to file a claim and go from there. If you have the misfortune of running into the grifters from HLI Tree Experts, all I can say is..."Run for the hills!" read more

HLI was very competitive on their quote to trim our palm trees, remove four of them and trim the shrubs in our backyard. They put a full team on the job and were done in about 4 to 5 hours. They did exactly what we asked them to do and did a great job! read more

Very very sharp crew, quick and professional. All crew members wore proper protective gear and worked like crazy, climbers were obviously pros. Good communication, the boss came out to my house on a holiday, two days later the job was completed to my utter satisfaction. I asked the boss to do me a favor and move a junk pile from the side of my house to the back, and it happened within 5 minutes of my asking. Fair priced, I would highly recommend HLI Tree Experts and I will have them back again. (Probably not for two years because they did a cap and trim and it wont require trimming again for two years) And my trees look great, as if a professional tree company has been here and gone. (I was paranoid that it would be a chainsaw massacre, it wasn't) And the job site, (my front and back yard) is cleaner now than when they arrived. read more

The guys did a great job removing a pine tree and an extra stump. Fast and great pricing.

Definitely a man of his word! Rare in today's business world! Fast, professional and highly recommend this company!! Said he would cut down trees for 1 price and he HONORED his word! Stand up guy friendly workers! read more

I find it very interesting that TODAY (1/26), after reading my review, Leonardo shows up at my door wanting to rectify our issue. He said that he wanted to pay me on the day he did the job for the damage because he "didn't have time" to make the repairs himself or have the items repaired. Back when this happened, I explained to him that I did not know how much things would cost and that I also did not have time to do it, so I thought that since he caused the damage he should fix it. At that time, he did agree to fix my fence and buy and plant replacement plants for the ones his crew had damaged. I had called his voicemail twice and left messages that went unreturned. I used the phone number that was on his business card, which I got from one of his crew (and it matched his phone number on his website). I told him today that I no longer wanted his help. He kept talking and would not leave so I asked him to please get off of my property. Again, he kept talking and would not leave until I actually closed my front door. As he left he called me a "BITCH." PLEASE NOTE: THERE ARE 3 NEW 5-STAR REVIEWS WRITTEN TODAY, 1/26/15, BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE ONLY WRITTEN 1-2 REVIEWS EVER. LOOKS LIKE HE HAD SOME FRIENDS WRITE SOME REVIEWS FOR HIM. As for me, I have said my piece on Yelp and Angie's List and I am putting this behind me. There are so many other reputable companies out there, do yourself a favor and use one of them. read more

IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE, READ THIS FIRST. I contemplated whether or not to write this update, because of what happened to me - since I definitely don't want it to happen again. But then I figured that other people shouldn't have to go through what I did, so I am going to talk about it. Leonard actually came to my door today and asked for me by name, then angrily asked me why I had written what I did about them in my YELP review. He kept raising his voice and yelling at me, until I called for my son (a big kid) to come to the door, and I told Leonard to leave and never come back to my property. Then I called the police and reported what he had done, and they told me if he ever comes back to my property to call them immediately. I don't care if you like my review or not, coming to my door to confront me about it in that manner isn't going to help make it better. Now I'm not recommending them because clearly if you make them mad they are going to be threatening and intimidating. Nobody should be scared into changing a negative YELP review. These are definitely not the kind of people I want to do business with - ever. And if they ever show up around my house again, I WILL call 911. read more

Extremely happy with their work. They made 10+ years of overgrowth look inviting again. They trimmed tall palm trees, overgrown bushes, yucca and trimmed large tree to prevent potential problems later. And they worked so hard in 105 degree weather. Great work ethic. Highly recommended. read more

The owner's son gave us an estimate, and promised everything to soothe our concerns. He said he would be there all day to supervise the workers. Come D-day - No supervisor. The workers had no idea what we discussed with the owner's son - only that trees needed to be trimmed. They did not finish the job in one day, butchered the trees, left tools and branches in the street and sidewalk, came back once to 'balance out' a poorly trimmed tree, and once for payment - insisting that everything would meet our concerns. Never saw them again. They deserve negative stars - Less than ZERO! read more

I had a great experience with HLI Tree Care this past weekend. I had a 25 foot queen palm that needed to be removed ASAP. I left messages with 1 company and Leonard answered my call... on a Sunday no less. I emailed him a picture of my tree, got an estimate within 10 minutes, and had an appointment for 7am Monday morning. Leonard and team arrived 5 minutes early and finished the job within an hour. I was extremely impressed with the whole operation and the price was very reasonable. I'd definitely call again. Thanks Leonard. read more

This is a horrible company! Do not even consider hiring them. Yesterday my wife hired them to trim our sycamore tree while I was away from home. This was a very large, beautiful tree, at least 70 years old. When I got home, I was not feeling well and my wife was checking on their work, so I didn't go outside to look. When I looked out my bedroom window just before going to bed, I was horrified. They had completely destroyed the tree, just leaving an ugly stump. I ran downstairs, went outside, and saw that they had also trampled and destroyed most of the other landscaping on that side of the yard. For this they charged us $3,000. Now I will have to pay someone to remove the stump and replace the tree. I am furious! read more

Had a large eucalyptus tree fall on my house during the night. Leo's crew arrived within 45 minutes of my call and willing to negotiate with me on the price, very fair. HLI trimmed my pine and palm trees last year around Thanksgiving. They did a very rough job so I asked them to come back the next day to clean the mess they left in the front and backyard. Last week after heavy rain I discovered a leak above my front door. There was a puncture in the roof (filled with pine needles). I called, texted and sent a photo to the owner, but he was dismissive/too busy to talk and finally non responsive. As of this posting's date, HLI has yet to return my calls and address my concerns. I am sharing my experience here in hopes that others will not undergo the same ordeal. read more

We hired them to thin out several trees or cut them at the property line. The "certified arborist" with the chainsaw is no "expert" and went wild: he ended up cutting off all lower limbs of some trees so 1) we don't have shade from one anymore and 2) I won't be able to reach the pecans anymore on another one. Apparently that's all he knows to do, so that you are left with most of the foliage way up in the sky. Leo is a fast talker and tries to convince you that he knows what he is talking about and you don't; he also says he's an "arborist" but when asked about his license ignored the question. He did knock a little off the total price for the lack of shade but asked me to pull my other negative review and he's not supposed to do that. The license is under someone else's name and says they don't have any employees, which means they don't have to pay for Worker's Comp insurance. Who pays if a worker gets hurt? The helpers are very polite and helpful and worked very hard, even spreading the chips/shredded trees around for us (saved the company going to the landfill, too). However, they all left the largest tree until last and thus were working in the dark, almost a 12-hour day except for their long lunch hour. As a result of the tree climber working in the dark, there are also still some dead limbs on the big tree. I wouldn't hire them again for our other trees, because I told them exactly what we wanted and lost a lot more tree. I hope the limbs they did chop off somehow come back. read more
