I wanted to take a moment to share some feedback regarding our recent experience with your tree trimming service. We were quoted $400 to trim three palm trees, and to top both an orange and a pear tree. The crew was scheduled to arrive at 8am on Friday, but unfortunately, no one showed up at the agreed-upon time. After reaching out to your office, we were told the crew would arrive between 8am and 12pm. However, that window also passed with no sign of anyone, and our follow-up call went unanswered. Eventually, the crew arrived at 4:45pm and completed the trimming on all the trees--except our pear tree, which we didn't realize at the time. The crew left all the trimmings piled on our driveway and assured my husband that they would return at 8am on Saturday to remove the debris. Sadly, by 5:30pm on Saturday, no one had come by to take care of the mess, and since we hadn't received a return call to my husband's message on Friday, I decided to call from my phone, hoping you might recognize a new number and respond. I left a voicemail, and thankfully, you called me back promptly. During our conversation, I mentioned both the leftover trimmings and the untrimmed pear tree. Later, the owner texted to apologize for the inconvenience and said someone would be out on Sunday. I also asked for $50 off the total bill, given the hassle and the incomplete work on the pear tree, but never heard back regarding that request. The owner/operator of HLI finally showed up over an hour late for his appointment to meet with us concerning the removal of a massive dead pine tree on our property. He then proceeded to make such a big show of telling me that if he gives a text estimate on a photo via Yelp, it stands, stating that he would "always, always" honor it. His text estimate was $450, but when all was said and done, he would only agree to do the job for $500, not the $450 amount that he had previously quoted, and ONLY if we would agree to do the job on that same day. Since we were not prepared to have the job done on such short notice, I asked him how much he would charge if we waited, and he told me that he would have to charge us at least $750, and maybe more. This dude also badmouthed his competitor, Jesus Tree Service, whom we did end up hiring. He claimed that Jesus had no experience. Surprise, surprise, however! Jesus showed up right on time to do the job, he did an amazingly neat, tidy, and efficient job for $500, and he completed it in a record 1 hour and 15 minutes, which is less than half the time that was estimated by all of his competitors. Moral of this story: Hire Jesus Tree Service and don't allow yourself to be strong-armed or manipulated by these questionable HLI jokers. read more

I originally called them to trim a large Ash tree that was more than a half a century old. So, this company has a slick full page, color ad in the local home improvement magazine I received in the mail. i needed two small palm trees removed from my back yard so I called and was told they would be at my place for an estimate between 1 and 2 pm today. 2 o'clock comes. Nothing. 3 o'clock, Same thing. By 5 pm they not only did not show, they didn't call to explain their no show. If that's how they treat you when they want your business, I can only imagine how they would treat you or me after they secured the job. Rafael and his team are the best we ever used; they went WAY OVER AND ABOVE EXCELLENT SERVICE!! The price Rafeal quoted was MORE THAN FAIR, and the workers left everything even cleaner than it was before they started. Our trees were a NIGHTMARE; some needed MAJOR pruning which was executed with perfect precision and artestry by ACTUAL LICENSED ARBORISTS who knew what they were doing. Three fan palms needed to be removed along with a Raywood Ash whose roots were causing the concrete to lift. It was a HUGE job and the team worked very hard all day until dusk. The team was exactly on time, professional while also being friendly and kind. They were careful with our other plants, our property, and even did a bit of trimming on a few other smaller trees that needed some love!! Our 30+ year-old trees were out of control. I found HLI doing a job in my neighborhood and asked for a quote. The supervisor came over, and I was surprised how fair their price was compared to other quotes I'd received. I should say that I get tree trimmers knocking on my door weekly, but none are licensed or insured. HLI is both, and the caliber of their equipment substantiates that. They arrived at noon, took out a 60' star pine then trimmed 5 other trees, 3 of which are on a steep slope, and were done by 5. The proper equipment made all the difference, i.e. bucket truck and wood chipper rig. They removed all the debris and left us nicely cut firewood. They also came back a day later and ground the star pine stump, leaving me several garbage bags full of excellent mulch. I would highly recommend them to anyone! read more
