Had a very mild coffee flavor. I could have used more of that espresso punch but still very delightful. Chocolate Gateau- This looks like its going to be a massive chocolate flavor but it was just right. Not too rich and just the perfect amount of chocolate Gateau Basque- My wifes favorite. This place is a cute little store tucked away in Wallingford. Theres a pretty sizeable parking lot for such a small store and just about 4 tables. They sell a wide variety of flavors for their cheesecake tiramisu cake and also the standard coffee selections. I wanted to try the matcha cheesecake tiramisu and it was absolutely delicious. This tiny cafe is located in an old building, but that doesn't take away from the flavour bombs that are their cakes. Once asked, we were recommended to try out their honey mango cheesecake, or the green tea tiramisu. We got both, and have no regrets! I used to live down the street from this lovely little place, but I never visited until last night. How dumb! It's a tasty street with Mighty O Donuts just a few doors down, but don't forget to keep walking to Hiroki. We ordered the green tea tiramisu and the New York cheesecake. I'm a huge cheesecake fan and figured I would prefer the New York, but it was, in fact, the green tea cake that made me happiest. I sometimes feel like we've reached peak green tea/peak matcha. This tiramisu provides evidence to the contrary. Like others have said, the sweetness level is perfect--you don't need an insulin shot after this dessert. The texture was great, too. The cake cut easily with a fork alone and then melted in my mouth. Creamy and delightful. The New York cheesecake was good, but just not best in class for cheesecakes of its sort, I'd say. If I could give a 4.5, I would--but I'm rounding up for the green tea cake. It was a snowy night with not much foot traffic, so it may not always be the case--but I also appreciated the peaceful and quiet atmosphere in this cafe. Wow! Wow! Wow! The tiramisu is so decadent! I arrived here an hour before closing on a Saturday in November and there was a steady line of customers. One customer is allowed inside at a time due to COVID. The regular tiramisu ($6.50) has 2 layers of light sponge cake, 2 thick layers of mascarpone, and a generous covering of cocoa powder. The middle layer of sponge cake is soaked in alcohol. I felt like I was fine dining while I was eating this. It wasn't too sugary. I usually prefer tiramisu that is made with ladyfingers and sitting in a pool of alcohol. This is not that type of tiramisu, but I was certainly astounded by how much I enjoyed it. The green tea tiramisu ($6.95) was made similarly although with a green tea cream, no alcohol, and topped with a dusting of green tea powder. This was so well made that even though I don't love green tea, I loved this dessert. These are definitely the type of desserts you savor little by little because you want them to last forever. Out of these four, the mango honey was the most unique and best tasting. The matcha tiramisu was more like a matcha mousse. The matcha flavor was detectable but not strong enough as matcha tiramisu. It was an ordinary tasting cake and there was quite a bit of leftover with this one. Gateau chocolat was rich but the right amount of chocolate. A bit on the denser end and sweeter compared to their other cakes. The mango honey cheesecake was the most unique and refreshing. The perfect amount of cheesy mousse with mango purée incorporated on the top and chocolate chiffon on the bottom. The soufflé cheesecake is typical of any Japanese soufflé cheesecakes. Light, airy, and not too sweet. If you've never had Japanese style cakes, made with chiffon and light mousse, it's worth trying. Haven't been here in a long time, so we decided to stop by and grab some items for later. I do enjoy Japanese type of desserts as it isn't super sweet and seem to be on the lighter side. Honey Mango Cheesecake, Green Tea Tiramisu and Gateau Chocalat. All were very delicious, my favorite of the three would be the Honey Mango Cheesecake because I'm a big fruit flavor person. Gateau Chocalat was very chocolate-y, sorta like a brownie. Green Tea Tiramisu was very light and soft and not super heavy on the green tea flavor. Pricing is on the higher side but it's nicely made and quite delicious. They do offer coffee drinks, other treats in their case as well. Hiroki is a cute, small cafe on a street corner with FREE PARKING right outside of the building. This makes it great if you go during a busy time during the day. I didn't have a problem finding street parking, but I had I known about the lot, I would have taken advantage of that. The inside has limited seating, and was a little dark, but it's cozy and warm. My friend and I ordered two cakes - the Gateau Chocolat and Green Tea Tiramisu, and two hot drinks. The slices were a little smaller than I expected, and for the price, I was expecting a bit more. The Gateau Chocolat was very worth it. The chocolate is so rich, and the contrast of the cold icing and soft cake makes a nice, well-rounded bite. The green tea tiramisu was light and airy, but I wish it had more of a green tea flavor. I felt that it was kind of lost with the icing. My green tea latte on the other hand was delicious, with a really thick matcha flavoring and nice latte art. The latte was creamy and I could tell that the matcha was good quality. It's very small and perfect for long chats about nothing. We got the honey mango and matcha cheesecake as well as the matcha latte. Their cheesecakes are very light kind of in between dense American cheesecakes and fluffy Japanese style. $7 The flavor of both was spot on, very subtle and delicate. Ok if you have ever had the debate on which is better pie or cake...this place will make you love cake. The cheesecakes here are works of art! I am in love with these perfect geometric wedges of cheese cake. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail of every cake. The slices come carefully individually wrapped with a circular gold wrapper around the bottom and edges and a clear perimeter wrap to keep all the edges protected. I don't know how they get all these crisp corners to match up with such clean defined edges. I started with a slice of Macha cheese cake and paired it with a Macha latte. The cheese cake had the delicate and smooth flavor of macha. The vibrant green cheesecake cake in perfectly even layers separated by moist almost paper thin layers of white sponge cake. Amazing complex flavors here. I had to go for round two. I came back to the counter for a Hojicha latte and a slice of the mango cheesecake. It was recommended to me by the very nice girl at the counter. It was perfect for a hot summer day. The mango was swirled in with the creamy cheesecake in such a way that I though immediately...now this is art! I was so full that it took me a long time to finish this piece but there was no way that I was going to leave even one crumb behind in that plate. Cannot believe I never knew about this place! Taste wise- Everyone loved the Honey Mango Cheese cake. Not too sweet, good balance of flavor. Not as light as a Japanese cheesecake style, but just different and just as excellent. The service was excellent, incredibly kind folks here. I will say finding an updated menu online was difficult, but just call and the staff there are so sweet and patient. While leaving in with the cake, I had to slam on my breaks for a rogue j walker and the cookie with the greetings ontop of the cake broke in half. Went back, and they quickly created a new one and didn't except any extra payment. So much gratitude, specially given the occasion was for an anniversary, and a broken congratulatory note wouldn't have been ideal. Definitely recommend this place, and I will be back to try more. read more

In term of sweetness, IMO, the soufflé is just right, the green tea is a tad sweeter and the honey mango is the sweetest (probably due to the honey and sugar contents). They're about $6.75 each. They're not sweet relative to French or typical American type desserts so that's great. Small selections and a small store but ample parking. The down n dirty: Green tea latte': PASS on this one. Looks great on the surface but so watered down. Maybe he didn't put enough green tea matcha, who knows; plenty of green color! Strawberry Custard Bun: So so lovely looking but again, once you got to know the bun (taking that first bite)... doughy and kinda of a soggy, half cooked taste to it. Think of a an old honey bun with a smidgen of fruit. 1 bite and I was DONE. Green Tea Tiramisu: Full of flavor and this is probably how the green tea latte' probably should have tasted like. A saving grace. Honey Mango Bavarian Cheesecake: Soft, tangy, and light. The better half's favorite out of all that we ordered, would do this one again. It's great that they have their own reserved parking spots. Unfortunately, $6 for a small slice of dessert is beyond reasonable. If you're ready to cave into your sweet side this place can satisfy anyone's sweet tooth and palette. For commuters coming from University District, your best bet is to hop onto a 44 towards Wallingford and then a 16 to get to Hiroki. It's part of a small little center of a few other shops/restaurants. The little sign outside their door may help direct you here. The first thing that greets you when you enter is their display case full of fresh pastries and desserts. My inner sweets loving child nearly screamed when I saw that block of green in the corner of the display case. Yes, that little block of green I am talking about is the infamous green tea tiramisu and there was only one left. I scanned the other desserts quickly to make a decision so that I could hold the last piece of tiramisu in my possession. I decided to go with the souffle cheesecake and the gateau basque. However, if I had enough stomach room, I would gladly embrace the gateau chocolate as well (which looked divine and rich!). The owner of the place is kind and answered our questions about some of these French desserts. He placed them in a box for us but was kind enough to hand us plates when we decided to eat inside where it is warm. Every slice is wrapped in it's own clear plastic and has a gold foil piece at the bottom. They are decorated quite nicely. Green tea tiramisu - This little piece is so heavenly. It is not too sweet, it's airy, light and divine. It has the perfect amount of matcha flavoring to it. I love how creamy the tiramisu is and how light the cake is. The cream and the cake are just a perfect match and it is definitely recommended to green tea lovers. Souffle cheesecake - I was really excited for this one and it did not disappoint. If you love New York style cheesecake then this is your lighter, airy version of it. It's creamy, rich but is not overly heavy or sweet. Every bite is so light and it melts in your mouth. I really appreciate this lighter version of cheesecake since cheesecake can be quite dense and heavy. Gateau basque - I wasn't sure what this was when I first saw it but it looked almost almond-y. I kindly asked the owner and he said it was a traditional French cake made with custard. We decided to go with this one and it definitely was a good choice. The cake part is light and airy while the exterior is crunchy. I love how there are two kinds of textures to it. The inside is not overly sweet while the outside has more sweetness to it. The custard flavor is definitely prominent but not overpowering and the crust does indeed taste of almonds. This one is also a definite must try. The area in the back is a bit small but is warm and welcoming. I could imagine people coming here to chat over coffee and dessert. Every piece was spot on, light, not overly sweet and beautifully cut. Three pieces was enough to make my partner and I sweetened out for the night. The price was a little less than $20 for all three which is slightly pricey but definitely worth the quality and taste. I love everything green tea flavored, so coming here I had to get the green tea latte and green tea tiramisu. Definitely got my green tea fix here as my belly was satisfied with by green tea in both food & drink forms. Green tea latte was creamy and robust in green tea flavor. Now imagine a green tea latte in cake form and you get their awesome green tea tiramisu. This was actually my first time having a green tea tiramisu (I haven't found it at any other cafe yet!), so it was a special treat to eat it at Hiroki. The green tea tiramisu appears to be a popular item because the time I came here they only had one slice left... which was ALL just for me to enjoy. :) If you're in the area, I recommend swinging by here to try out their green tea items. I haven't tried their other baked goods yet. There are few places better to get a slice of cake and good reliable coffee than Hiroki. I define myself as a treat lover, and spend most days indulging in at least one sweet. If it's a slice of Honey Cheese Mango, I know that it's going to be a perfect balance of refreshing, light, bouncy and creamy. Typically when my partner and I go we will order the Honey Cheese Mango and then try a slice of something different. This soufflé cheesecake was also really light and I didn't feel overwhelmed eating it along with my mocha. My partner thought the cappuccino has good foam as well! The service is amazing, and while they did not have whip cream the person up front offered marshmallows and I feel like it was equally enjoyable! Heart shaped? So cute. I imagine if I was a kid, core memories would be crafted here. We sat in the sun and shared our slices. Not a lot of traffic on the road nearby, just a lot of family and neighborhood folks enjoying their day. I first heard about HIroki while dining at Umi Sake House. The gateau cake was offered as a dessert special, but my friend and I decided not to indulge after having our meal. We were too full from all the food we had. Instead we decided to head into the bakery the next day after discovering it was located nearby. For Monday, Hiroki is only open for to-go orders. I stopped in with two other friends and ended up ordering a few items and sharing them in the parking lot. We picked up a few things to try like the Orange Blossom Chocolate Chip Cookie, Peanut Butter Cookie, Green Tea Tiramisu, New York Cheesecake and Honey Mango Cheesecake. The cookies are large, crunchy and flavorful. The chocolate chip cookie has chunks of chocolates with a hint of orange blossom. Sweet and floral! The peanut butter cookie was nice, but a tad on the dry side. It would probably be really great paired with a coffee or milk. The cakes were beautiful and tasty. I had the green tea tiramisu, which was very light and fluffy with a nice matcha flavor. The New York Cheesecake was dense and creamy, but the most visually stunning and group favorite was the Honey Mango. Light cheesecake with a subtle sweetness from the honey, but you can definitely get a taste of mango in the gelee. Too bad the bakery wasn't open to sit in the cafe. They also serve teas and coffee beverages, but we just came through for cakes and sweet.
