Love this place! They make the cakes so fast and they taste so good and fresh! Both times I've ordered the day off and gotten the cake a few hours later fully customized. The people working are very nice and accommodating!

About 3.5 stars for me, but honestly I would come back here as well as take my parents here. My husband and I were randomly craving for dessert (specifically egg bubble waffles for the husband) and we decided to come over here after a quick yelp search. We found parking on 50th pretty easily and walked to Cafe O'Dessert. It was fairly easy to find. When we got in around 8 pm, there was nobody else in there. The owners were just finishing up their dinner, and a younger lady came out to the register to help us. Their menu had quite a bit of Hong Kong desserts. Everything looked really good, but we decided to just stick with the original egg waffle and a matcha egg waffle. We also got a side of condensed milk. They put it on the side for us so we could drizzle it on ourselves. The original egg waffle came out much sooner then the matcha. They were both very good (although, I still think Happy Lemon is better). The matcha flavor was light, the waffles were warm, a little denser then the other egg waffles I've had around Seattle. There other desserts also looked really good. The decor and atmosphere of the place was a little bland, service was average. But I did enjoy the food, and it's fairly close to where we live. I would come back and probably bring my parents if they ever come to visit.

Blueberry shaved snow with mango popping boba

Firstly, if you were here awhile back, this location is revamped, eliminating hot foods, now serving desserts with a bakery section only. The focus of their desserts are Cantonese/Hong Kong style. This is a big distinction vs. the other Asian sweet shops popping up in the area, many are Taiwanese. The warm purple rice with mango is amongst my favorite - execution and flavor. The purple rice is soft and a touch warm - perfect! The honey mango (SE Asian vs. Mexican) is currently in season which is the only way to eat this dish. The light coconut sauce is not as thick and sweet as Thai style, which is also a signature of the HK style. The combination is wonderful as every bite of the rice can be covered with the coconut sauce. Next up, the mango sago. The only thing you'll want differently is more. Some places cheap out this dish by replacing some of the mango sauce with cream sauce. That's a no no. The taste combination is perfect. Again, best to eat this when honey mango is in season. Next, ginger milk custard. This is a very traditional dessert. You have to like ginger to appreciate this. She does this dish wonderfully in the traditional manner - serving a dish of ginger sauce, pouring the warm milk into the dish of ginger sauce in front of you, covering it up, and letting the watery pudding form in minutes. Last, probably the most 'commercial', is the shaved snow, and it's very refreshing. Multiple flavors to choose from and one topping. I picked the blueberry and mango popping boba. Definitely try this place. There are very few true HK style dessert shops in the area, and this place's dishes are easily better than some I've tasted in the Bay Area.

TLDR: bubble Waffle is better than shaved ice. Creepishly quiet place with piano music playing. The atmosphere clashes in my opinion. Looks more like a bar. Asian food is the last thing I would think of when walking in. Service: wait to be seated, order at the table, food brought to you, check brought to you, pay at the table. Going to let you know up front, the shaved ice is mediocre. If you want excellent shaved ice go to C Fruit Life. Shaved Ice: gritty and tastes artificial. Lightly sweetened. Toppings Boba: too chewy. Mochi: too chewy and dry in the middle. Green Tea Waffle: lightly sweetened and very fluffy. Like sponge cake. No crisp to the outer layer. Good by itself.

Large taro shaved ice with condensed milk and red bean

Okay, I would never have walked into this place if not for my friends dragging me in here. And if not for them I would've been searching for Asian desserts in all the wrong places. I had the shaved ice with condensed milk and red bean (a throw back t my times in hawaii) the large size got me stuffed! So soft and smooth and sweet! Also had their bubble wrap looking waffle, I prefer the cold dessert though.

ATMOSPHERE I'm not sure how busy this place gets because I went a bit before they were closing. WHAT DID I TRY? I tried their dulce de leche cake, their taro cake, and their chocolate tiramisu cake. They come in these cute little rectangular packages so even if you don't finish the cake, you can store it for later. All their cakes were very moist, super airy, and not overly sweet. My personal favorite was the dulce de leche cake. It was just the right amount of sweetness. The taro cake has a layer of taro between each layer thus giving the cake a starchy texture with every bite. I kinda like that they did that. It really brought out the taro flavor. I just wish it was sweeter. However, all the ca SERVICE The lady who helped me was super nice and sweet. If I remember correctly, she wasn't fluent in English but she still a very good job to answer all my questions and gave me recommendations! OVERALL I gave this lace 3.5 stars because I was disappointed with two of their cake flavors, but their service was good! I'll have to try their other items and review them again!

    Ginger Milk Custard $5.80
    Dianna N.

Ginger Milk Custard $5.80: I was really in the mood for tofu pudding with ginger syrup, but I was able to find a spot near where we were that was still open. This was the closest thing. Even with extra ginger, I didn't find it gingery enough. It was a very mild flavor, but it was still pleasant enough to eat. Mango Shave Ice $8.80 includes 2 toppings: We got it with condensed milk and mango pudding. I find this type of shave ice more or less tastes the same to me regardless of where I get it. I do feel like condensed milk should be a default base free topping. Who doesn't like shave ice with condensed milk?! ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars - Meh. Unlikely for me to return. 3 Stars - OK. Open to coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way to. 4 Stars - Yummy! Will definitely return if I haven't already. 5 Stars - AMAZING!!! Would plan my day or even a trip around eating here.

    Mango Pomelo Sago
    Johnny L.

Cafe O Dessert is a hidden spot in the University District. They served excellent desserts for a reasonable price. The shop is owned by a Chinese family that makes all of their desserts in house. Their crepe cake has a good balance of flavor and rich in the flavor that you pick. My go-to dessert is always the mango pomelo sago for a refreshing fruity dessert. Their pineapple bun is also extremely fluffy with a nice crisp crust. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

My friend was craving a refreshment yesterday when we were at the UW street fair he had a smoothie the day before at a place in Green Lake that didn't use fresh fruit and was disappointed so he was really looking for fresh fruit. I told these guys were known for their asian desserts but wasn't sure about their smoothies we swung in here after checking out another near by bubble tea spot that didn't necessarily post they used fresh fruit these guys didn't either but he asked. I wasn't feeling anything here I'm not a big fan of milky fruit stuff. He ordered the mango smoothie and was very happy. Said he looks forward to trying their strawberry one next time.

Pineapple piece is so cute! Tastes so sweet just the way I expected to love. I wish I had grabbed more.

Oolong milk tea with boba. The worst boba tea I've ever had. It's just sugar water with bobas that are either not cooked or just out from fridge. They hard hard as rocks. Maybe their desserts are good, definitely not Bono's teas. By the way, the egg tarts here are $4.00 for one piece. Just FYI.

    Menu! Looking forward to sago...
    Lawrence L.

Came here probably once every 2 weeks while in Seattle. It's usually not too crowded, a pretty chill vibe. The mango pomelo sago is one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Friends have also really liked the shaved ice - smoother than expected, but we've had friends who have wanted to go back a second time within the same day for the sago. The bubble waffle is also a solid choice!

    Kai E.

The shave ice was yummy. Portions were large and the price was reasonable. The flavor of the ice was not very strong. I don't recommend getting the mango or watermelon shave ice because they don't really taste like much. Definitely try the cantaloupe, watermelon, or strawberry! (Between the 5 of us, those were our favs.) There are tons of toppings to choose from and they give you a good amount of each! The staff was very friendly too. Would love to come back to try some other desserts soon.

The second time, even though it was late again, I was able to snag a chocolate cake with white chocolate icing. The slice was $9.5 after tax, which felt like an ok deal after paying exorbitant amount for cakes elsewhere... :( Cake was good. I liked how they put chocolate chips in the chocolate sponge - it was a nice surprise. I thought the to-go bag system is kind of impractical though. Seeing that the bag they have doesn't have handles, I initially said no to a bag. Then the lady wrapped the dish with the cake slice with a Saran Wrap and handed it over (pictured). I was expecting she put the cake in a container so I was surprised. I knew I wouldn't feel great carrying the cake on the bus like I'm at a cocktail party, so I asked for the brown bag. Maybe this place wants to encourage customers to eat in? They could do a better job with the container, but I might as well come in ready with my own container next time.

During a recent visit, I made several attempts to stop by the new shop and order my favorite slice of confetti cake to see if it was as good as I remembered. Very frustrating given I made a specific effort to record the hours and go back to Fremont specifically for this cake. They were very understanding of any of our concerns and requests. We originally went to an open house they were holding so between that and the tasting we had with our contract, we got to try a variety of their food and it was far better than the food we had at other caterers we were considering. They also took all our guests' food allergies and restrictions seriously (unlike another caterer we visited who offered us a "vegan caesar salad" that was made with anchovies...). Also we chose the option to hire our day-of coordinator through Blue Ribbon and working with David Short was a dream. He got our unconventional wedding concept from the beginning and was excited about it and happy to collaborate with us on it or talk through ideas. He was very supportive at every turn and such a kind and calming presence on the actual wedding day. He tried wherever possible to take stress off of us. He let us drop off decor and things to him in the days before the wedding so we wouldn't have to worry about how to get it there. When I realized we hadn't put any thought into the decorations for the ceremony itself he came up with a lovely design repurposing lanterns and greenery we we had gotten for the tables later in the evening. And he brought us a variety of appetizers for me and my spouse so we'd have something to eat after the ceremony while we were signing the paperwork. I would highly recommend Blue Ribbon Cooking for any event. We will definitely be reaching out if we're planning future big events.
