I had a stopped drain (the kitchen and laundry line). A previous plumber couldn't get it clear and thought it might be a bigger problem. Since I was out of their area, they recommended I call someone else closer to me to follow up. I called Hicks. They arrived at the time they had approximated and they were able to get the drain clear. Hicks was certainly more expensive, $125 (vs the other place was $45, although they didn't charge me); however in my past experience, this price is totally in line with the cost I expected. And now my drain is clear and I can resume normal life. read more

This is Vlee. Last month my drain was clogged (big time). I called Darrow of Hicks Plumbing to come. I don't know where the main drain-out in the front garden is, 1) I requested him to put a CAMERA through the drain to check out the drain pipes all the way to the street. We looked through the pipes and found no roots growing into it, though the pipes are cast iron old pipes. 2) He next cleared the clogs from numerous sink holes in the house. Finally I found a main DRAIN-OUT hole inside the house and he cleared the big clog in the main line from there. 3) He used an ultra-sound machine to identity where the drain pipes in the front garden are.So this last month I digged through the soil in the front garden, and found the drain pipes two feet below the soil. Next time if there's a clog, the clog can be cleared from a NEW drain-out in the front garden. Thank you! read more

Thank you for your help! Good service! Very professional and provide affordable prices. Highly recommend!

Darrow is great! So glad I found him. We had been looking for a plumber for a long time. One guy seemed promising and then didn't even bother to call us back. Another guy - still an apprentice but we were desperate - made a really dumb mistake on a very straightforward task. (Installing a reverse osmosis water filtration system that a lot of people could probably just do themselves.) Needless to say, that did not inspire confidence to hire him for future, more complicated tasks. Finally we found Darrow. Very pleasant, professional and competent. Plus his prices are definitely fair. We got another highly rated plumber to give us an estimate and it was ALOT higher. Darrow took out an old toilet with super old plumbing and installed a new one in s house with ancient plumbing. Nothing went wrong and the new toilet looks and works great. So glad to have finally found a plumber!! read more

I cannot say enough good about Darrow Hicks. I had a leak that proved to be something of a mystery as I had pipes that went under a part of my house that sits on a slab. Darrow investigated and eventually needed to re-route a number of pipes to avoid having to break up my cement foundation. I am so grateful for his skills and creative problem solving. Not only has he stopped the leak, but he has re-done the pipes such that I will never need to break through my foundation again. There were other snags along the way having to do with previous work on the house and he solved each one as it arose. He was incredibly efficient, honest and respectful of my home. Also, he took the time to explain the issues clearly to me and how he proposed to solve them. I am a relatively new homeowner and it meant so much to me to feel that I had someone with integrity working on my house! Thank you, Hicks Plumbing! read more

I will not call any other plumber now! Darrow is very nice, helpful and his prices are very reasonable. I'm so glad I found him on here and now I have a plumber I can trust! I called to have a toilet fixed which he fixed in about 10 minutes but I also had questions about other things in the house. He did a walk through with me, answered all my questions and even wrote down what would have to be fixed with base quotes. Absolutely WONDERFUL! read more

Hassle free, efficient & honest plumbing service. That is the best way to describe Hicks Plumbing. We had a leak in our kitchen ceiling and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. This company was referred to us by a family friend so we called. The owner came immediately and fixed the leak in what seemed like a blink of an eye at an affordable price. I highly recommend Hicks Plumbing. That's who I will be calling for all of my plumbing needs. read more

Truly deserves the other 5 star reviews. Called in the morning for a kitchen clog. Said he could come in the afternoon, with two follow up calls that let me know the approximate time. Well dressed, well mannered, professional and very neat in the way he went about the work including the meticulous way he reloaded his truck. Later, the clog wasn't completely cleared (and he'd warned me kitchen clogs can be difficult). Next morning 9:00 AM (Saturday) he returned and quickly identified the problem - same quick work and water now freely drains. No additional charge. 60 day guarantee. Would certainly use him again. read more

I had a clog in my toilet & Darrow answered the phone himself & came that same day. They snaked out the drain & all was well until the shower didn't drain a few days later. He came back & snaked it again at no charge, then gave me a long explanation of what may be an ongoing problem, with plenty of options. He was very responsive with fair prices, too! read more

What a breath of fresh air to restore my faith in my fellow man. Called this morning because I busted off a pipe elbow while replacing my kitchen faucet last night. The break was behind the back-splash, inside the wall, and I could do nothing but shut off the main and hope I could get someone reliable to come out and do this today. Darrow took my call first thing this morning and told me he could be out in the afternoon. Then he did the unthinkable and actually changed his schedule around to be able to come right out and take care of me first. He and his assistant were very professional and courteous. He explained what he was going to do and then went ahead and did it even though it turned out to be a bigger job than initially believed once the wall was opened up. Again, so nice to get such attention and service. The price was more than reasonable given the amount of work he had to do. Given my situation someone else might have tried to take advantage. I highly recommend Hick's for cleanliness, timeliness, professionalism, and cost. Thanks Darrow. read more

Hands down one of the best plumber I have worked with. Darrell is very professional and extremely knowledgeable and he cares about his customers. I had a bad plumbing incident that left me with my pipes leaking that my water had to be turned off on a Friday late in the evening. I called Darrell and he was considerate to accommodate me at the end of his schedule and spent almost 2 hours after his normal work hour to help me get the lines fixed and turn the water back on. It would have been a disaster going into a weekend without water. Really a very reliable and efficient company around. read more

At last, an honest plumber!! Darrow and Hicks Plumbing are outstanding. When he says he'll be there at a certain time, he's there. He doesn't immediately jump to the most costly solution, but instead looks for less expensive, less invasive solutions first and when he estimates the cost, that is indeed what it will cost. Easy and fast electronic billing and payment. I highly recommend Darrow Hicks and Hicks Plumbing and would use their services again without hesitation. read more

I cannot speak to Mr. Darrow Hicks as a plumber or as to his business practices when it comes to his plumbing business but, as his former tenant in his rental home in Azusa, I can speak to his behavior and dealings as a landlord. Turns out his word is not his bond. I did not know where else to turn to warn perspective new tenants. Just beware and be sure to get everything in writing at the time of move in and move out. Do a written move in/move out inspection with him and be sure to take pictures of everything from the carpet to the tops of the ceiling fans as, even if you clean everything and have receipts to prove it, he will turn around and charge you for cleaning the tops of the ceiling fans and the tracks inside the sliding windows. We just moved out and we paid almost $600 to have the entire house and carpet cleaned and still deductions for cleaning were taken from our deposit. We loved living in this beautiful home in a beautiful area but the rent is quite expensive as is the deposit which you will not get back if you do not protect yourself from the outset. read more
