WR replied to my general inquiry for a plumber on Yelp very quickly as did numerous other plumbers. Looking over the process on Yelp seems like making an appointment required a phone call still anyway. Decided to give these guys a try so called them and was able to make a same day appointment. Robert texted ahead of time and arrived within the arrival window. He was very nice, answered all my questions, and fixed 1/4 problems we had. One other issue he says could not be fixed and another he could not find a problem to fix. For the last problem, he said he to see if he could get the part and that he would get back to me. If he made an effort to reach out I missed it and as far as I know he never followed up. Since I was surprised that a special part was needed, I went out to get my own part and will try to fix it myself later. He did fix the main issue we called him out for. Given the mixed experience, I will likely try one of the many other eager plumbers who contacted me on Yelp and give one of them a try in the future, but I will not be opposed to using WR again. read more

Western is great! Our water heater went out on Saturday, we called for an estimate on Sunday, service completed on Monday! The initial phone call was so easy and helpful-I'm so sorry I can't remember the young lady's name that I spoke to but she answered all of my questions and put me at ease as it's our first time replacing. Customer service and timeliness are exceptional. I really like how I can text reminders of my appointment and how far the plumber is. The courtesy call is always a plus. The plumber checked on site of the issue which I was already aware of the issue of replacing the shower cartridge since the shower head was continually leaking even after the handle was on on the shut off. Cost was $375 which I get there is labor involved but 30-60 mins + part ($35-80 part) to replace. The cost is above average. If you need something quickly done and don't might paying slightly more for them then they can definitely help. We did ask if we can do it ourselves, and he said yes which I like the honesty. We ended up doing it myself to save on cost since I had the tools and went to Home Depot to buy the cartridge. read more

5-star plumber! This should be great! The first time OK. He fixed a buried PVC line at a slightly high price. But if they're reliable, it might be worth it, right? The second time was very bad. The tech quoted $1550 for a job that takes well under 4 hours with $200 in parts, and it was a sketchy fix. No go. But no bad review because it could be a fluke, right? Third time? Bad again. So it wasn't a fluke. Tech came for repair of the first job but apparently didn't know it was warranty service. He talked about replacing galvanized pipe with copper. I said it sounded expensive because PVC was really the problem. I suggested he talk to his boss because he the one who was paying for the warranty repair. He went blank, said OK, and when I came back, he and his assistant had left without saying a word. To their credit, Western Rooter promptly sent another tech, and he's now replacing 16 inches of PVC as warranty service (picture). So, I had thought one bad experience after a good one was a fluke. But now I can't ignore two bad experiences in a row. You have to stay on your toes. Two stars because they did send another tech to fix the problem. One star otherwise. read more

I was referred by my HVAC contractor to call Western Rooter, as the supply line that feeds my pool heater, fire pit, and built-in gas grill developed a gas leak. The Gas Company came out, smelled the gas leak, shut off that supply line, and tagged it The tech, Richie Ortiz, came and I explained the situation. With his experience and knowledge, he was able to identify the rotted gas line and able to properly repair the leak. Being in the service industry, the people who work and represent the company either make or break it. Richie is polite, courteous, and most importantly, knowledgeable. He explained in detail what he needed to do and the cost, taking into account that we wanted a good repair at the least cost. Top-line takeaway: Western Rooter is the best, and Scott in particular is a rock-star technician! I reached out to Western Rooter to repair a gas-line leak (SoCalGas wouldn't start gas service to our new home until it was fixed), and Scott was there in two hours from when I first messaged. After some thorough investigation, what was nebulously thought to be "a" leak turned out to be substantial leaks from six different fittings! After replacing those fittings, though, there was still one lingering small, difficult to find seventh leak--just enough that Scott was worried the system wouldn't pass if the gas company came out to re-test. He spent the next ~day methodically working over the entire system, until he finally had narrowed it down to one section of pipe that he ultimately elected to just entirely rebuild since the leak was impossible to more accurately pin down. For all this work (replacing fittings, shutoffs, and entire pipe sections) he was very fair and only charged me the original quoted price for the six leaks, plus a flat fee for the seventh at the same rate as the other six. His work ethic and work quality was really evident over a couple of days of seeing how he approached the problem. Now the system passes and we're ready to start our gas utility. We are very happy with Joe's work. Our Moen faucet was leaking so we needed the cartridges changed. But try as we might, we just couldn't get them out. After quite a while, we knew we needed a professional. A neighbor recommended Western Rooter, and they sent out Joe. He soon found out those cartridges were in there very solidly, and it didn't look good. But Joe stuck with it, and with some creative thinking he was eventually able to get them out and install the new ones. He also fixed a problem with our dripping supply lines.
