Zach is the man!
We recently purchased a rental property and unfortunately our inspector didn't tell us the dire condition our water heater was in. It was on its last leg, wasn't enclosed, and wasn't up to code.
When the gas company came out to turn the gas back on after termite remediation, they said they couldn't leave it on due to a faulty grommet.
We reached out to Zach, and he gave us a few options. First, he said we should try the Rheem warranty. We didn't end up going that route, but did try using our Home Warranty. The company that came out said they could replace the part that needed replacing, but they would charge us $1,100 to bring the unit up to code. However, that didn't even include an enclosure or a new vent -- which ours needed. Plus, it didn't make sense for us to spend THAT much money and not even get a new unit, since our water heater was so old.
Zach had already quoted us for a new unit, enclosure, expansion tank, and new venting but was trying to save us some money -- so we explored a couple of other options.
Eventually, we realized its better for us to replace the water heater and we already had Water Heater Doctor at the top of our list. Just for the sake of comparisons, we decided to get a few quotes. All of the other quotes were higher and/or involved less work.
The other big companies we reached out to said they couldn't give us a quote without sending a tech in person. Beware of this tactic, though! This happened to us at our primary home where a company comes out, tries to upsell you, and then brings down the price and pressures you into getting the work done right then & there because it's "convenient."
Zach was able to give us a quote via text after we sent him a few pictures, so keep that in mind if a company ever tells you otherwise.
We felt most comfortable replacing the water heater and bringing it 100% up to code for our tenants, so it was a no-brainer for us to call Zach and get something scheduled.
One of his techs, Sam, came out and worked tirelessly on a hot day. He installed a brand new Bradford White 40 gallon tank with all the bells & whistles -- expansion tank, new enclosure, and new vent line!
We couldn't be more happy with the job Water Heater Doctor did, and I can almost guarantee that no other licensed company can beat their price for the work!
Most importantly, though, Zach was trustworthy and honest. He never pushed us for a sale and was mainly trying to be a resource for us and help us out as much as possible throughout the entire process. Even when I had questions after other companies looked at our unit, he was more than happy to answer our questions and help us find the best solution.
As far as I'm concerned Water Heater Doctor has earned our business for life! read more
