They helped us promptly with a plumbing issue and approached the problem patiently and with the goal of trying simpler fixes first before jumping to expensive and likely unnecessary solutions. Happy Sam's Plumbing has been my go-to plumber for years, and they've earned that trust every time. They're consistently responsive, show up fast, and the quality of their work is always excellent. Most recently, I had a pipe burst in my house and it could've turned into a disaster. They came out immediately, handled the leak detection and mitigation quickly and professionally, and then set up a proper containment area with dehumidification to dry everything out and help prevent mold growth. They were efficient, thorough, and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. If you want a plumber who responds fast, does the job right the first time, and takes emergencies seriously, I highly recommend Happy Sam's Plumbing. read more

It was Happy Sam Plumbing to the rescue again! I manage an old historical Villa in Pasadena with all of the old pipes and plumbing to go with it. Al and his crew were right on top of the latest emergency. Old pipes in an upstairs restroom leaked through the ceiling into a public room on the first floor. They opened up the ceiling, removed the cracked and rusted pipes, set a dehumidifier to run and extracted 5 gallons of water from the ceiling area, and replaced the pipes. A master craftsman repaired the hole in the ceiling and it was if nothing had ever happened. I can always count on Al. His prices are reasonable, he comes immediately, and the work is excellen read more

Happy Sams Plumbing is awesome. I Just moved into a new place and the plumbing drain line was totally clogged with sewage backing up into the bathtub creating a huge stinky mess. Al and his guys came to my place on 4th of July, a holiday when no other plumber would. They were prompt and courteous, Al fixed the problem and cleaned all the mess. A true gentleman and professional craftsman with fair pricing. Yah can't get much better than that. read more

Very big thanks to Happy Sam's Plumbing for coming out on a Saturday after a leak in my water heater was flooding my carpet and no other plumbers would show up. This is the second time I've worked with them and they're very efficient, knowledgeable, professional, clean and kind. There were 7 different members of their staff here and Sam personally came and checked the work to make sure it was up to his standards, and with a smile. Whatever your plumbing needs are, please use them, you will not be disappointed. read more

Highly recommend Happy Sam's for plumbing service! I gave them a call to see if they could come out to take a look at our plumbing since I suspected there might a leak somewhere since I heard water sounds in the pipes even when we weren't using any shower, etc. They actually came out only like an hour later, did a thorough examination of the crawlspace under our house and actually found multiple issues that needed to be repaired. They took pictures of each issue to show me what was wrong and offered to get started right away. Since there were 3 different issues (including one big leak) they worked until about 7pm. After they were complete, they showed me the pipes they had taken out as well as pictures of the new installations. Again, I'd highly recommend this plumbing service. The technicians were friendly, thorough, and knowledgable. After the job, the owner even stopped by to make sure that everything was good and was also very friendly. All this and very fast and reasonably priced. read more

I had an issue with my plumbing, and another plumber came out twice and could not fix the job, in fact making it worse. Found Sam and he not only got the job done, but was super thorough and reliable! I am so happy with their service and will contact them again if needed. read more

I was having a really bad clog in my bathroom, affecting my tub, sink and toilet. I had already called 2 other plumbing companies, and they wanted to come back and charge more because they could not figure it out. I called Happy Sam's Plumbing because a friend recommended them, boy was I impressed. They found the problem right away and fixed it with no issues. I wish I would have called them first. They were very professional and obviously experienced. Highly recommend! read more

Sketchy plumber. Sam's done two small jobs for us that seemed slightly overpriced. He's very friendly and runs a good team, but we were always a little suspicious. This weekend he confirmed our suspicions. He came on Saturday to inspect a gas leak and quoted me $900 (inspection included) to repair one joint in my gas line. I told him I wanted to get a competitive bid and he told me that if he didn't do the work, he'd have to charge me $380 for the inspection. This morning he called and told me he didn't want to do the work anymore. We currently have a local plumber recommended by Altadena Hardware who's doing the job for $450, including inspection, and he even found three more leaking joints. Told me if he just charged for the inspection, it would be $150. Sam is nice, but definitely tries to take advantage if he thinks he can. UPDATE: Sam also quoted me an additional $2600 to replace the original gas line from our house to the detached garage. The other plumber we're working with is doing this PLUS the other four leaks on the house line for $1500 TOTAL. UPDATE 2 (since I can't respond below): Just to clarify, the complaints in this review have nothing to do with the quality of their work, or the level of professionalism of his team. They were totally great on those two points. My issue is that this was a very obvious price gouge in an emergency situation, and then they backed out once they found out I was getting competitive offers, and tried to blame it on me because for a minute I told him I thought they might have caused the leak (which for the record, they absolutely did not cause). I also sincerely apologized for the misunderstanding. Incredibly disappointing to be told it would cost $3700 to repair the leak and replace the gas line to the garage, and find out later that an honest plumber only charges $1500 for the same work. read more

Fixed our shower within 6 hours of calling them! Cito, the plumber that arrived was helpful and informative.

I have been calling Al at Happy Sam's for years. He always sends someone out quickly, especially in an emergency. I thought they were going to have to tear open some walls to find a leak, but they were able to find the problem without costing me a fortune. read more

Sam's team always does great and reliable work. They're on time and monitor the jobs progress.

What could I say, nothing but respectful people came to my house on behalf of Happy Sam's plumbing. I called and they showed up in one hour. More than willing to give me a great quote to run a water line for my brand new refrigerator. In the mist of them running the waterline they found a huge plumbing issue in which they were able to quote a great price for my landlord and they were able to get the work done immediately. I am very blessed to have encountered happy Sams Plumbing when I googled the best plumber in town, there's no words that can say how happy I am right now and that's why I started this review with what could I say. Thank you Happy Sam's Plumbing for making my life that much easier. read more

I had excellent work performed by Francisco and Israel. Both men were very professional and knowledgeable and worked very hard and efficiently. Alvia, THANK YOU for sending Sam and his crew to help me with my sewage backing up into my showers on a Saturday. I greatly appreciated Sam's fast response, quickly diagnosing of the problem, laying a floor covering (that pink heavy paper stuff) to keep my floors unscratched and clean, fixing the problem, cleaning up and taking out the leftover trash. Everyone was polite, courteous and did their job well. I really appreciate the clean up of what was their before they showed up and after everything got fixed. When I need a plumber again you will be the first I call to come and save the day. Thanks again for the fair price, the quick resolution of the problem and the clean up. My two experiences with Happy Sam's have been great, and I highly recommend this company for plumbing service. I discovered that water was leaking under the house, and I wanted to take care of the problem as soon as possible. I remembered that Happy Sam's had come out to do a fairly small, simple job for me a couple of years prior. I had been so satisfied with their work that I decided to call them right away for this newer, more serious issue as well. The company came out an hour or two later, and they did a thorough inspection. They took photos and showed me not only which pipe was leaking but also which of the other pipes had become unreliable and might be worth replacing. I opted for a fairly extensive re-piping project, but using better quality materials than were already present, and in more areas of the house than were affected by the initial leak. The company gave me a very reasonable price for the whole job. The work was done by different crews in different parts of the house simultaneously, so that everything was completed quickly. Since there was continual supervision and inspection, I felt confident that the work was taking place on schedule and that the company was committed to doing the job properly. I'm very pleased with Happy Sam's, and I definitely recommend them to anyone who's looking for a reliable plumbing service that's competent, conscientious, and fairly-priced. read more

Sam has been my go-to plumber ever since I moved into my Altadena home about 10 years ago. I've had his help with various clogs around the house throughout the years and he always took care of the problem well each time. Last year, when I noticed my drains were slow and my clean out was overflowing, I of course called him. Apparently, there was a blockage in the main city sewer which worsened within a few hours and caused hundreds of gallons of city sewage to overflow out of my cleanout. Sam and a team member of his stayed with me throughout the entire ordeal and I hired him and his crew to clean up the sewage and replace it with fresh soil throughout the next two days. Sam went above and beyond when the county refused to take responsibility in the matter. He and a few members of his team testified in court and with his help we were able to require the county to take responsibility for the cost of the cleanup. I feel very fortunate to have called Sam for all my plumbing needs. When a once-in-a-lifetime problem like this happens you'll want someone who will be there for you and have your back. Having worked with Sam throughout the years and particularly with his strong sense of justice and responsibility in this latest event, I believe that Sam is a business owner that you can trust to take care of you while also being great at his job. I would highly recommend him and he'll always be my go-to plumber. read more

Ladies & Gentlemen, it is so easy to give 5 Stars for Happy Sam's Plumbing. We very recently had an issue with our newly built ADU and we are so thankful Al was visiting that day. Apparently, the pipes were not set up correctly and there was a waste flood inside of the ADU. It was a shock to see the flood and I know we were blessed to have Al visiting that day. We have been using Happy Sam's Plumbing for approximately 20 years. They are fast, dependable, reliable, and very thorough along with explanations as the work is being done. This company is definitely our go to when we have any kind of a plumbing problem. read more

Happy Sam's to the rescue yet again! Old house, old pipes and never at a convenient time. I called after hours in a bit of a panic as the water was literally flooding my yard and I couldn't get the main shut off. The owner answered my call immediately and addressed me by name and rattled off my address for confirmation. I haven't spoken to him in a few years and he didn't skip a beat to make me feel like I had called someone who knew me and understood my "old" pipes. He said they'd be here first thing in the morning and I immediately felt a huge sigh of relief. Once I knew he was coming, I was able to get the main valve shut off. Funny how that works! lol Like clockwork, his crew member was right on time. I thought it was a capped PVC pipe that burst but when got it dug out, it was a PVC cap on a very old galvanized pipe. Ug. He didn't rattle me like some plumbers have done in the past. He was really kind and took the time to show me where the pipe was originating from and explained what the best course of action would be for a long-term fix. Ug. Money is super tight right now so I asked if he could just recap the pipe for now. Rather than push a more costly solution, he agreed to my request without argument and without criticizing my decision. He ditched the pvc cap so it would hold better and was done in short order. After he finished, he took the time walk me through the process of a long-term fix and showed me what I should do once I can afford it. Before he and another crew member wrapped up, the owner came to see how things were going. It was clear by their conversation, his crew needed to get to the next job but he never once made me feel rushed or like my small job was any less important than their bigger job. When you have an old house, it's not unusual for companies to start pushing bigger, more expensive fixes. Happy Sam's has helped me a number of times (mostly emergencies) and never once have they pushed me or made me feel like I was making a poor decision when I've had to go for the least expensive fix. Their prices are more than fair but the peace of mind you get when they do the work is worth far more than what you pay. For anyone that owns an old house with old pipes, you know the stress you feel the moment something happens with your plumbing. More often than not, I've stood by while plumbers have worked on my house and all I could see were $$$ adding up. I never feel that way with Happy Sam's. I would highly recommend Happy Sam's to anyone needing a plumber. read more
