Really impressive! Got a list of many plumbers from George's Kitchen & Bath as we are new to the area. Half didn't return my call for a quote and while Keithley came in less than the others, it was the ease of getting the info and then scheduling that kicked things off on a good foot (props to Phyllis and Stephanie for excellent customer service). Brian and his partner showed up promptly, were so personable, respectful and knowledgeable. Some of what we asked for was a little out of their scope yet they totally nailed it. The job was executed flawlessly and while we were thrilled with the end result, there's 1 little thing that made them stand out from anyone else- we made sure their work area was clean and tidy when they arrived and I swear it was cleaner when they left. At this stage in the game I wouldn't even consider using another plumber- if my 1st experience is standard operating procedure for Keithley, I can get used to this! read more

My kitchen sink clogs up until the garbage disposal is turned on. Google indicates the problem is in the "P-trap." Keithley sent out a tech, Johnny. He looked into the sink and said there was no problem and ran the garbage disposal. He told me not to put food in the disposal (!!!) The original problem persists and I'm out $80. read more

Simply awesome. I called out of desperation yesterday morning because other plumbers said they were booked for weeks. Two courteous plumbers arrived less than an hour later, immediately fixed the problem (broken house pipe) and then said their office would send the bill. They had done a plumbing job on one of my properties. They were supposed to remove the old copper pipe and install new PEC. I went up to look at the work because I had to run something up above the ceiling. Very sad to see if they did not remove the copper pipe like they were supposed to. They charged me to remove all of the old plumbing pipes and install PEX pipe. When I look up there, they left the old pipe without removing it. They also charged me to install new toilet flappers, which they did not do in any of the toilets. I believe the son was doing the job with a worker. This company is an absolute nightmare, please avoid it like the plague, OVERCHARGED , LIED to They're accustomed to overcharging unsuspecting homeowners , its their bread & butter. Almost $300.00 for under one hour , flapper & fill valve , sink stopper . The wife /secretary estimated it to me by phone , it would be around $100 . The plumber should have told me the jobs estimate and I would have declined, instead an outrageous overcharge bill comes in the mail. I offered to pay $200 for the 45 minute service. The wife is irate & rude and they sent bill to collections, now demanding $400. I wish I had referred to YELP, as there's a long ugly history of overcharging, and bad service. Keithley gets a split rating. The 4-or 5 star part: I've always been happy with their work (repairs on old houses; never had them work on a remodel or new construction so I have no experience with them on that side). They were knowledgeable and able to fix vintage fixtures that others wouldn't touch. Their rates were no more / less than anyone else. The 1 or 2 star part: I recently had terrible experiences with responsiveness. I called to schedule a service call, and the very pleasant person (no snark here; she was very nice) said she'd call back after checking with someone. No call back. 2 days later, I called again and confirmed an appointment. The scheduled time slot and the entire day day came and went, and...BUPKIS. No plumber, no call to reschedule, nothing. I guess they have plenty of business and don't need mine. Sigh...I really liked these guys and their work. Time to go plumber shopping. read more

Do not hire Keithley Plumbing! Not any more. We had multiple failures in inspections--see that the city lists them as 18 because we couldn't pass for a number of reasons one after the other! Horrible cheap work! I also had 2 failures with the Gas Company. Once Keithley had left a gas line wide open and could have blown up the house! There were electrical workers there, no less! The gas man scrambled to turn it off, red tagged me and I had to start all over. That was the second Gas Company refusal to start service due to safety concerns. They are very dishonest with their billing and quality of work. PLEASE REVIEW YOUR CONTRACT CAREFULLY and make sure every single provision is delineated to the letter. They are quick to renigg on work that was verbally discussed in DETAIL, but then intentionally vague in the contract. They used plastic pex pipes instead of the copper we agreed upon. Pex copper means plastic pipes, by the way, and they use the excuse that Pasadena water additives cause pin hole leaks... and we are cooking and showering with this water? Give me a break! I have had copper at our old house for 18 years and no problems! They did NOT give us new drains, as stated in the contract but pieced in just enough to make things work. See the pictures marked by another plumber and ones taken by us. Those marked in yellow are old drains. We asked them to make it right, but they would not. We ended up having to go to court and they lied about the whole thing, saying that they define new drains as the least amount they can get away with... All are to the closest bend and tied into 70 year old drains in 2 out of the 3 instances. I was charged $550 per each new drain for 6"- 8" of pipe. One drain did go all the way to the main, also $550? Who would know, unless you or another plumber go into your crawl space. Also, RATS CAN AND DO CHEW THROUGH PEX. Just google it. I have asked two plumbers since and pex is crap that's only recently become legal because of the copper theft problem. They also pretty much say Keithley's work is only passible (after 16 tries.) The proof is in the pics of their work, multiple failures from the city and texts from my new plumber. To top it all off, they were supposed to move a 300 lb cast iron tub, demo a wall and move it to another bathroom. I scrapped that project but they refused to give me any credit. That may be legal, but it's not ethical. So disappointed in putting so much trust in an old reputation. read more

They were on time, friendly, listened, PROFESSIONAL, capable, fast, and flexible - when I asked them if they were vaccinated they answered (yes) with no attitude or defensiveness, and they went ahead and wore the additional face mask we asked them to wear in addition to the cloth neck masks they already had on. After several attempts to resolve a whistling noise, and after replacing a regulator (that their technician recommended) the issue was still there. When we asked them to return to the house, Phyllis Keithly told my husband to call the City and then informed us their would be additional charges to come back. Both charged me but failed to fix the problem. I got a referral to Keithley plumbing and their technician (Dan, I believe) came out on time, and handily fixed both items in a half hour. I was amazed. We are two long-time teachers. Keithley took advantage of us during COVID, installed a hot-water heater that we did not order and that failed to pass city's building/safety code, so Keithley had to redo the work. He also repeatedly told us things that were false We hired Keithley because our hot water heater went out suddenly and he was the only plumber who was free. Our big mistake was accepting his request no written contract. He also wanted no permit/inspection, but we insisted on a permit. We gave Keithley a list of 5 requirements for the new hot-water heater. Instead of telling us that Keithley did not have the water heater that we wanted, Keithley installed a cheap, 20-gallon too large, not-energy-efficient HWH that we did not order, and told us that the heater we wanted "was not available," but he was installing something close to what we wanted. His claim is false. We also asked for a manual for the heater. He said there was no manual. This second claim is false We could not see exactly what he installed until after he left, because of COVID social distancing. As soon as Keithley left, we saw that he had installed a cheaper, much larger, not energy efficient heater, not what we requested. We immediately called the manufacturer listed on the heater. We asked the manufacturer if he made the water heater that fit our 5 requests, given to Keithley. He said they did make exactly what we wanted, and that every installer has a manual to give us. We also checked Lowe's and home Depot. Both had, in stock, the exact heater that we requested from Keithley. Next we called Keithley to ask why he installed a cheap, too large, not energy efficient heater that we had not ordered. He and the entire office repeated his false claim; "what you wanted was not available." When we told Keithley that we were teachers, that we had checked, that the heater (we ordered) was available from the manufacturer, at Lowe's, and at Home Depot---suddenly he changed his story. For the first time, he said what we wanted was not available from their distributor. If Keithley had told us this, up front, we would never have hired him. We then said Keithley had to install the correct heater, even if we had to pay more for it. Keithley said that because there was no written contract, he did not have to install what we wanted. Having no choice except to take the cheap heater we never wanted, we agreed to pay Keithley the remaining 1/3 of the bill, but only (1) if his work passed city-permit inspection and (2) if he gave us a contract indicating all workers and distributors had been paid. Keithley then told us a third false statement,. Keithley said we had to pay them, whether or not they guaranteed payment of subs/lien release. State law says no such thing, and we told Keithley that. The inspector found a serious code violation that would have leaked water all over the floor; the inspector forced Keithley to correct his poor work. When Keithley could see that we were not going to pay the remaining 1/3 for the heater (that we never ordered) unless we had a contract showing payment of subs/lien release, finally, after 5 months, Keithley gave us the contract showing payment of subs/lien release, and we paid him. The moral: (1) Get a written contract. (2) Don't trust anything Keithley tells you. (He also told us the heater did not need to be flushed, which is false.) (3) Get a permit and inspector; luckily we did this. (4) Warn your friends about Keithley. We have lost $1500 for a cheap, worthless heater that we never ordered----all because during early COVID days, we trusted what Keithley said. Don't make our mistake. read more

We "inherited" Keithley plumbing from our home's prior owners, but still would compare quotes on work to be done. Eventually we stopped comparing and after one noticeably high bill, discovered a very high overcharge on hardware (500% markup from box store retail). After calmly asking about it, I was given a condescending explanation of how tradesmen make their living. Willing to consider that we were wrong, we had two other firms come by and give estimates on work done with identical hardware. Even the big corporate level firms were less than half of Keithley. I wish I didn't have to post this, but alas, I feel it's necessary to share And looking at some of the reviews here, I am not alone We have been using Keithley plumbing for many years This past week we had the house tented for termites, and the gas was shut off for that. The gas company came out to turn us back on, they discovered the hot water heater, which Dan came out to repair the water heater replacing thermocouple 6 weeks ago. The gas company said it looked like the wires had been split apart, a piece broken and then the 2 wires just tied together in an unsafe manner To the point they deemed the water heater unsafe and now, after being out of the house for tenting for 4 days, now that we are back, we have no hot water Hard to put everything back and clean without hot water We called Dan to ask about this, he said the part broke, not that he broke it, the part wasn't available any longer and then he hung up on us. Wow, the part did not JUST break, you broke it Dan. You should have told us this, and how you "fixed" the issue. (Psst, you didn't fix it) and it is NEVER ok to hang up on a client. I have an older townhome in which original plumbing was done with little care, and the owner before me constantly overestimated his DIY skills. Dan Keithley and his technicians have kept everything working. Most recently, I discovered a leak in the wall behind my sink. Dan and Phyllis sent two of the younger plumbers. They were conscientious, pleasant, and professional, and they did an excellent job with the unusual, annoying, poorly-assembled plumbing.  The job required creative problem-solving skills, in addition to knowledge and patience, and I was grateful for the intelligence and care with which they handled it.  They tracked down and repaired two distinct cracks in the pipe in my wall and replaced several defective sections, all while wearing masks. read more

I Hired Kiethly to fix leaking shut off valve in sink faucet. Didn't fix the problem, Overcharged, and was rude to my tenant and rude to me on the phone. Disappointing Details: I arranged appointment for Keithly Plumbing to repair Leaking valve in tenants shop. Gave Keithly my cell phone number if any questions arise. Several days later I received an invoice for almost $300. I called my tenant to see if everything was taken care of. She said NO, that he came late, was only there for 15-20 minutes, and the faucet shut off was still leaking. Keithly told my tenant the building water needed to be turned off, to which my tenant said ok, go ahead, it ok to turn it off, so it can be fixed today. She told him she would go next door to the neighbor and inform them the water would be off for a while. Keithly then said he didn't have time, that he had to go to lunch. He then left with the valve still leaking, and never returned. Keithly Plumbing had screwed on a new shut off valve in front of the old valve which did nothing to stop the original leak. I then called Keithly Plumbing and asked why he sent me a bill for almost $300 for repairs and didn't even fix the leak. He told me that I was required to give the little restaurant next door a 48 hour advanced notice. I actually had advised the restaurant prior and also had given Keithly my cell number if there were any questions. In addition, my tenant had told him it was ok to turn the water off. When I asked him why he put a new valve on the faucet that did nothing to stop the leak, he then said he needed it for a second leak. There was no second leak prior to his arrival. At this point Keithly abruptly said "Just Pay The Bill" and hung up on me. A couple days later I hired another plumber who removed Kiethly's work, removed and replaced the old leaking valve with the new one and in addition, replaced the hot water shut off valve with a new one. He did the entire job in 20 minutes and charged $170 The good news: I got the job done right for $170 The bad news: After paying Keithly Plumbing's over priced bill of $296, the total job actually cost me $465 Live and Learn read more

This was the worst company to deal with and over priced. We got a referral from a friend just because she overheard me at work say I needed to call a plumber. So I called and they were willing to come out within a couple hours. They said they would send an email quote. Never received. Didn't really think anything of it. Then they said they would call me when he would be arriving. They did, the plumber arrived and soon after determined he just had to snake the pipe for one of my bathroom toilets. I had to leave for work so my husband was left with the plumber and I left a checkbook. My husband asked how much we owed and he plumber said he doesn't handle any of that. But he was like but how much was it. The plumber replied again he doesn't handle any money. My husband then asked for a invoice or something showing what service he performed and he said they don't give those out. I hadn't heard anything or received any emails so I called and left a message to have someone call me. No call was ever returned. About a month goes by and forgetting about this, I finally get an email wiinvoice for nearly $200. With no description of he service performed. I was like WOW would have been nice to know before hand. Again I make a call and no answer. Waiting to hear back it falls off my radar again. Granted I could have just paid it and never question it and just never use them again, which is what is going g happen anyway. Anyway needless to say I forgot and today I received a call with a not so pleasant person demanding I pay the bill. Talking over me and not listening what so ever. Anyway lesson learned! Dan did fine work for us, but just be forewarned that you might have a difficult time when it comes to billing. A few weeks back I called Keithley asking for their rates to install new bathroom faucets. They said $100/hour, and that they can usually install them in 1 - 1 1/2 hours (2 hours if the outgoing faucets were old, which mine were not), for an estimate of $100-$200. Dan installed them in 2:13, was personable, and again, did a good job. Then I got a bill from him for $402. Turns out I was charged for $94 worth of parts (which I wasn't even aware I was buying, but whatever - I trust they were necessary), and a full 3 hours' worth of work. So I called Keithley and asked if their billing was prorated. The woman I spoke to said yes - they wouldn't charge us for a full hour if they did less than a half hour of work. When I said Dan charged me a full extra hour for the final 13 minutes of work, she initially accused me of getting my info wrong. When I assured her that I timed Dan, she said that he was probably including travel time. When I pointed out that travel time was not included in my quote, she said that Dan said it was an "impossible" job, so the cost was justified. When I pointed out that their rates are determined by # of hours worked, not by degree of difficulty, she said that "anyone else would've taken 3 hours" - as if, I suppose, I should've been charged Dan's rates for the time it would've taken another plumber to do the job! She finally lopped $50 off my bill, which I feel was fair, and maybe at the end of the day warrants them a higher Yelp rating. But the woman was so condescending and dismissive, and so unwilling to work with the customer, that I vowed I'd never use this company again. A shame really, as I was prepared to give thousands of dollars of work to Dan over the years, which he lost out on in an attempt to milk us for an extra hundred bucks. read more

Wow! You really "assumed" a lot....I never said I didn't want to pay for service! I just thought it was odd that my kitchen faucet stopped working as soon as Dan fixed the shower head. In fact it appears to have been connected. After the fourth phone call I said " don't worry I will never call you again. I got a new plumber who fixed everything. Now we get a bill for the drain estimate which took a total of 15 minutes max for $250. My husband has 2 masters degrees & doesn't make that! I think you have lost your good sense! read more
