Crisp Grape Boom
Cody P.

The Monterey Park HeyTea is by far my favorite HeyTea in Southern California. Picking up your order is seamless. Performance is consistent. The workers are professional and efficient. I had an especially wonderful experience at this HeyTea today thanks to a worker named Yichun. Yichun was very helpful in helping me navigate the HeyTea app to use my Sparks to apply rewards to my order. She was so cheerful and happy to help. She also helped me get Sparks on my friends' orders as well (since they didn't want their points hehehe). There was no wait tonight, so we got our drinks immediately handed to us by Yichun as well. She also complimented my custom Doraemon sticker that I drew using the HeyTea app! The drinks, of course, are amazing. My personal favorite drink EVER is the Crisp Grape Boom, a delicious blend of jasmine green tea and grape juice that is miraculously only 120 calories! Every component in the drink is very well balanced. The slush is cold and refreshing without diluting the flavor. The sweetness of the grape juice complements the soft, floral jasmine tea in such an addicting way. And the pieces of grape at the bottom provide a satisfying "crisp" crunch! Recently, I've also really liked the King Jasmine Guava. The drink is incredibly fragrant. You get a punch the lime zest aroma simply by picking up the cup. You take a sip and are plunged into the sweet salted cheese cloud before breaking through to the wonderfully ripe guava drink, all the while being enveloped in their nine-scented King Jasmine Tea. Sweet, cheesy, ripe, complex, and fragrant. I almost feel bad drinking it because it feels like I'm cheating on the Crisp Grape Boom. And yes, it is that deep. And no, I am not exaggerating about anything. I love the Monterey Park HeyTea so much. Great vibes.

new smaller cups

The drinks are still really good. They have new smaller cups... There was this one day where their internet was down so they couldn't take orders. So the lady in front told us to order on the app. Which we did.. so we walked to Daiso while we waited for about 10 minutes and when we went back she just told us that the internet was still down.. Which I was so confused about because she told us to order on the app but either way .. what did the internet have to do with making my drinks. But I just said okay. I would check in every 10-15 minutes and every time I walked up to the store she would hide her face with her hands. I was a bit annoyed because I had already paid for my drinks and I waited patiently for almost an hour, I'm not sure what the internet being down had anything to do with making my drinks. After an hour, I ended up just asking for a refund. Definitely expect a wait when you want to get a drink here but the quality is good. I think they have other locations, which I probably will try out to see if they have better service.

I loved Heytea when I had it in China, it was one of my favorite tea spots. I'm glad they brought it to the US, but to be honest it's not quite the same. It still helps cure the craving, but the tea flavor doesn't feel as strong as I remember. Best way to order is through the app if you want to avoid the long lines. Also note most drinks don't come with boba by default, so you'll have to add it as a topping. Some drinks I've liked so far are the Kale Boost tea, the Yingde milk tea with mochi, and the guava tea. Overall they're good, just not as memorable as the ones I had in China. It is on the pricier side, but I guess that's the cost if you want that Heytea fix.

Coconut mango boom

TLDR: Some things you just can't have enough of. It's the best mango drink I've had in the US, and the brand is yet to let me down. Coconut Mango Boom: The main problem living on the West Coast is that the mangos are just bland. The occasional mango drink purchased in other locations just tastes like syrup. HeyTea is the first establishment that made the drink taste like the mangoes found in Southeast Asia. Do they use a specialized syrup? Maybe. Do I care? No. The mango taste is as good as it gets, and the coconut adds a layer to keep things dynamic. HeyTea also gives an option to add tea (surprise) into the drink. This tea adds another layer of fragrance and taste complexity, which I really enjoy. Service: It takes a while for them to finish the drink because of high foot traffic. Order via mobile. Ambiance: It's only a to-go spot. The place is big enough to order via kiosk, and the rest of the customers wait outside.

I've been to maybe a dozen Heytea locations. Their drinks are always outstanding and consistent. The stores smells wonderful and always clean. Their service is always exceptional and efficient. This location is no exception. My favorite drink is the Coconut Mango Boom and is at the top of my list for all time favorite bevs. I order on the app and can always expect how long to wait because it tells you your estimated wait time and how many drinks ahead. When I went to pick up my drink, their quality control is very apparent, with the friendly staff telling me to be sure to start drinking it within the first three minutes. Never an issue for me because I can't help but scarf down the entire drink immediately.

SO good. No notes. Heytea is really nostalgic to me because it's all over China, and I used to drink it obsessively when I would visit China over the summers. I love everything on the menu, and their milk tea is to die for. As a boba fanatic, Heytea is one of my favorite chains that exist in the US.

At this point Heytea and long wait lines go together, so visit at your own discretion! They are extremely understaffed but I occasionally still return because I really enjoy their drinks. At least the neighborhood seems quiet and safe for people to wait around outside the store. This time I tried their new King Guava jasmine milk tea which was fragrant with flavors that were delicious and unique.

Goated boba place. LOVE LOVE LOVE their Coconut Mango Boom!!! I've also gotten their Cloud Coconut Blue before too, and it's so refreshing. Honestly can't really go wrong with any drink here. I discovered that they have "taste enhancing straws" at this location. Depending on what drink you order, you'll have the option of getting this. It's literally 3 tiny straws stuck together, that mimics the sipping action instead of sucking? Apparently it does make the flavors stand out more! My friend and I were super confused when we saw it at first though LOL. This location is super tiny. There is always a long line here, but it goes by quickly! You can also order on the app, which apparently is a lot faster. It's a grab n go spot because there's literally no seating at all, but because it's in the Monterey plaza there's plenty of open hang out space.

Love the drinks at Heytea, but this location in particular is too disorganized. The store is tiny and crowded. When there are BOGO offers, the line gets ridiculously long and it's hard to know when your order is ready because there are so many drinks that they are working on. The staff doesn't seem very friendly or helpful if you ask for the status of your order. I know there is a screen showing which order numbers are ready, but it's not completely accurate. I would recommend ordering through their mobile app if possible. A self-order kiosk is available inside, but I see most people order at the register instead. These are my top drinks: Triple Supreme Matcha Latte: high-quality matcha drink with a creamy foam top that adds a nice, silky finish to each sip. The matcha jelly and matcha mochi toppings create an enjoyable, chewy textural contrast to the drink. Mango Grapefruit Boom: a fruity drink that blends fresh mango and fresh grapefruit. The sweetness from the mango puree balances out the bitterness of the grapefruit pulp very well. I really like the texture of the sago in this drink. One of the good things about this location is that there is plenty of free parking in the underground structure, although street parking is limited.

This location at HeyTea is at the Atlantic Time Square in Alambra. You can see the crowd waiting outside driving down Atlantic. They have an app if you would like to preorder to save yourself the wait. Our group our 4 came here after lunch and there was a crazy line. We decided to order on the app. We thought we were smart to avoid the line, but apparently there was still 50+ drinks in front of us, and an ETA of 30 minutes. That is a crazy long amount of time to wait for tea. Anyways I had the Supreme Matcha Latte ($7.99) and after the long anticipation... I was a little underwhelmed about the results after waiting for so long. There are so many other places that have better matcha than the one I had. I know one of our friends said they didn't like their drink, but had like other drinks here in the past. Sounds like a hit or miss. I'm going to judge them based on my experience and I think it's pricey with a ridiculously long wait, and my drink was about average tasting. I know I have one of these HeyTeas closer to me in Irvine, but I really don't care to visit any of their locations.

Golden oolong yuzu, pistachio cloud jasmine coconut, king jasmine guava
Rebecca N.

So happy to see Heytea opened up in Monterey Park! Would recommend all the spring specials: golden oolong yuzu tea, pistachio cloud jasmine coconut, and king jasmine guava (milk tea). I got the golden oolong yuzu with 25% sugar, and it was still definitely sweet enough. Service was relatively quick - very short line on an early Sunday afternoon. Prices are on the higher side (~$9). Would come back to try more flavors if I'm in the area!

I'm glad they added a HeyTea location here in Monterey Park. The location is tinyyyy. It's a grab 'n' go kinda place. There is usually always a line. I got the coconut mango boom. It lives up to th hype!! It's so good. 50% sweet is perfect. SOOO much mango in it. It is NOT caffeine free. There is some jasmine tea in it. The reason for 3 stars is the horrible and slow service. The reason for the line isn't because there are not enough workers. The person at the front just will NOT hand you the drink for some reason. I showed my order number. I saw my drink sitting there on the counter. I stood there for 5 minutes why they wouldn't just put a lid on and hand it to me. Stood there for 5 more min as the continued to prepare other drinks and my drink is still just sitting there with a bunch of other drinks. People waiting. All u need to do is put be lid on and call the number... Once I saw her put the lid on... she still did not hand it to me. Stood there for couple more minutes and decided to just reach in and grab it myself. I would appreciate if they improved on their assembly line/ service.

Purple Grape Boom
Belinda T.

My aunt in China told me she loves HEYTEA and that we must have some in the States. I swore up and down I've never seen or heard of it... then came back from a trip this past November to find that we, in fact, have HEYTEA. Shows what I know. Was kind of sad to see they didn't have the same purple rice and mochi milk tea but did have a similar mochi-only one (I think it was a Longjing Milk Tea). Also tried the standard milk tea with bobo (boba), Grapefruit Boom, Kale Boost Tea, both Crisp Grapw Booms, and plain Jasmine which was lovely and super fragrant. I think you have to order using their app when going in person, and it's easier to anyway cause the shop is tiny and every time we've gone, there's been a lot of people crowded inside and out waiting for their drinks. It takes probably at least 20 minutes to get it so order beforehand for pickup! Limited street parking on Atlantic and free parking in the underground garage.

Do they accept cash?

Yes, they do. I paid with cash and it they did accept it as a payment option. They did give me quarters as my change instead of bills even though I noticed they did have one-dollar bills, but I just assumed it was because they may have more coins.

I asked for a recommendation between drinks and they mentioned if I want a hot drink - Miso White would be good; for a cold drink - Lychee Tonic would be ideal. It was a hotter day, so I opted for the Lychee Tonic. Since it was busy, the wait was ~ 10 minutes for the drink. After giving it a try, it tasted refreshing but I didn't really get the lychee taste. Not the best first impression with the tonic. However, I'd still consider coming back considering their ambience. Also absolutely interested to try their pour over options! Parking is available in the back of the building. American Express is accepted here.

It's a wonderful spot to study as long as you get there early. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting, and the drinks are consistently made fresh and served piping hot. There's also a solid variety of food options to choose from. I've had the chance to try a few items: the Dubai chocolate mochi (4/5), the breakfast burrito (4/5), and the breakfast sliders (5/5). The sliders are especially good--kind of like a stacked sandwich with egg, sauces, and jam that all come together really well. My go-to drink is the Bori Cano, which is my current seasonal favorite. It's a unique mix w cream top over an Americano, with barley tea on the bottom. It's perfect for keeping me going during long study sessions. I'm really glad to have a place like this in Monterey Park where I can settle in and get work done. The Bori latte didn't have much honey flavor and a bit watery, but I liked the puff rice topping that made it unique. Kimchi Musubi croissant was flaky and flavorful, but I wish they added more kimchi since it was more like eating a spam croissant. Overall, I'm glad I came here early before I left Monterey Park. Came Back for Our Usual... Left With Feelings About Parking & Sugar Levels…read more Hubby and I decided to circle back to one of our top 3 favorite boba spots (not that our list is super long lol), because after a delicious hot pot dinner we were seriously craving their Coco Mango. First things first... the parking here still deserves its own Yelp review. Whoever designed that parking situation... respectfully... why Parking still sucks, but we powered through. That said, it was actually really nice seeing this place busy and packed last night -- probably around 15-20 people inside. I was weirdly happy about it because I'd be genuinely sad if this place ever closed. Always good seeing people supporting a spot you love. We ordered our usual Coco Mango, and since I was feeling adventurous, I also tried the Dragon Fruit Aiyu. And not gonna lie... the Dragon Fruit Aiyu was delicious. Super refreshing, the dragon fruit tasted fresh, and the jelly inside was such a nice touch. Definitely a solid 8.5/10 for me. My drink was $6.95 and honestly worth trying if you want something fruity and lighter. Now for the Coco Mango... This drink usually never misses. The sweet coconut with that tart mango blend is usually chef's kiss every single time. We've probably been here close to 10 times, which is why I immediately noticed it tasted a little different last night. I ordered mine with the extra lychee popping boba (+$1), so total was $7.95, and I'd rate it around a 6.8/10 this visit. My husband always tells me to stop doing 70% sugar because "either commit or don't" and honestly... he might've been right this time. But even aside from that, both the coconut topping and mango felt less sweet than usual and just didn't have that bold flavor we normally love. Maybe it was because they were extra busy and moving fast -- totally understandable -- but it was the first time it felt a little less magical than usual. Still... one off night absolutely won't stop us from coming back because when that Coco Mango hits, it hits. We'll definitely be back and hoping next time our beloved Coco Mango returns in all its usual sweet, coconutty, mango glory. Happy drinks!
