Short Story: The best place for bubble tea! Long Story: I've been coming here about twice a month since they've opened. I've gotten the Matcha Supreme, Yumberry, Cloud Jasmine, Grape Boom, Grape Crisp, Grapefruit Boom, etc. Each time the drink tastes excellent and they are highly customized. You can choose your tea, caffeine, ice level, sugar, size, etc. The wait can be a bit long especially on the weekends. They have an app but they will turn off pre-ordering when it gets busy. This location is in the same plaza as 99 Ranch so parking can be tough (as there are so many other restaurants nearby). When you order they'll usually let you know the wait time and there is a tv on the wall which displays the orders that are ready and upcoming. Verdict: I'm going back! read more

I've been hearing rave reviews from my friends about their Westlake Daly City location for a while now, but I kept putting off trying it since there are no locations near me. My husband and I finally stopped by on the way to San Jose one day, and now this is a go-to for us whenever we travel to/from that direction. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the drinks here. Some drinks we've tried so far include the cloud coconut blue, supreme brown sugar boba milk tea and cloud jasmine tea. The drinks are so refreshing and taste like real fruit. None of that powdery stuff. I looove the coconut mango boom. Best drink. It takes awhile for drinks to come out, but only because it's always busy when I go (for good reason). It's a small place. Just grab and go, really. I will warn you though that if you've never been here, it gets so crowded sometimes that some patrons will openly cut you in line. I think maybe floor markers or poles COULD help to show people just where the line is, but still... lining up is easy for kids so you'd assume it'd be easy for adults. But what do I know! I was around for a Yelp event and decided to pop in since there isn't a Hey Tea located super close to me. The store inside was quite packed and it felt a bit chaotic between the disorganized line to order at the kiosk and the people milling about waiting for drinks. I decided to just download the app while waiting in line, and I was actually able to place by order before I even got to the kiosk. Overall wait time was much faster than I anticipated. I think my drink was ready in less than 10 minutes. The workers must be crazy efficient. I got the coconut mango boom in slushie form and with 0-calorie sweetener as well as minimal sugar. The drink came out to be a little under $6 after the discount and the level of sweetness was perfect. Not too sweet at all! They also have the capability to order via your phone, but I think the site wasn't working at the time. I waited a fair bit to order at the front kiosk, but the cashier was friendly when grabbing our orders. Additionally, one of my friends orders was never made, so we were waiting a while for hers to be made. Just be wary to keep track of your orders especially since it's quite hectic in there. In terms of the boba, I thought the matcha and jasmine combination was great. The jasmine brought the sweetness to the more bitter matcha flavor. However, this tea was on the pricier side. Came here during their soft opening for the BOGO drink deal. The line was long (as expected), but honestly, the drinks were the best we've had from here, even better than on regular visits. We usually stop by on Saturdays. Sometimes there's a bit of a line, sometimes it's pretty quick--it really varies. Always so many people especially in this plaza! There will always be a wait regardless so try to order online if possible. Both times I have come here I still had to wait 30-40 mins even after ordering online. In addition, something that I saw that could be a bit considering is that the floors where the baristas are making the drinks are consistent flooded with water. I think that also plays a role in why the store does not feel as clean as other locations and that this specific one has a stench to it. The drinks are still good regardless but I would much rather go to a different location that does not have their employees slipping and working on flooded floors. read more

Been having wonderful boba recently in the South Bay and each shop is better than the last. Heytea ordering experience was quick even though there was only one ordering tablet. There's a QR code for online ordering and an app with reward sign up. The order screen is clear and easy to use while the status screen was intuitive to understand. Service was fast and efficient without delay when you come to the counter for pickup. More importantly the drinks were exceptionally high quality and flavors implemented tastefully and were well thought out. The pistachio for example was nutty and savory yet smooth and rich. My mochi had depth of black tea flavor, smooth and creamy while smooth chewy mochi was sweet. New favorite boba shop and will now definitely try the Berkeley location. read more

Boba milk tea snob here. I never go out of my way to get those sugary drinks made from artificially flavored powder tea. We were looking for a caffeine fix much needed for our drive to Sacramento and chanced upon this newly opened tea place. This clean and small shop in the Milpitas Square along Barber Lane was packed which surprised us. My wife asked me what the emanating peculiar smell was. I simply told her. "That's the aroma of real tea". Turns out that they opened a week ago which explains the promos that were on-going. We got a canvas bag with purchase of two drinks and a tagged social media photo posting. Now for the tea review. I ordered a Cloud Jasmine Tea and my wife got the Supreme Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea. After figuring out how to drink from the twist-to-open lids, I took a big 45° angle sip and enjoyed the layers of flavor from my jasmine tea. You read that correctly, my original jasmine tea had a salty layer of cheese foam on top which impressed me. Honestly, I didn't get to taste my wife's Supreme Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea as she inhaled it. Her less-iced drink came with a biodegradable PLA straw. My friend ordered at 11:10 and I ordered at 11:17 Estimated wait time was 2-6min. The employee also said that it should be quick. The seats were white, and some of them had footprints on them. I was not a big fan of their tiny tables, but its understandable that they want as much room as possible. The employee claimed that they were missing another employee for opening but as I can see, they have four people opening. So... who is making the drinks? 6 people waiting for 6 cups of drink for .... 15 mins ? A little too over. They finally started making all of our drinks at 11:28. My friend said, "They already opened for a month and they don't know how to set up the machine." Finally got hers at 11:35, I got mine at 11:37. No announcement was made that our order was ready. Drink was okay. Nothing special for either of ours. I was quite disappointed on how stingy they were with my boba. I even paid extra ($0.99) to buy the regular boba instead of the popping boba. There are quite a few passion fruit seeds in my drink, mixed with the two layers of boba (photo). The total for my drink was $6.98. The only nice thing was that the passion fruit drink itself tasted alright. at least they used real passion fruits. Safe to say is this place is really disappointing, especially when it just opened recently. They need to work on professionalism when opening up a shop. Happened to stumble upon Hey Tea in Milpitas Square while they were still under renovations at the end of 2024. Made a mental note to check them out once they opened since their other new location in San Jose has been all the hype lately accompanied with long lines and wait time. They are still in their first week of operation and are offering promos, including the BOGO 50% off today. The shop is small and located on the inner corner next to 99 Ranch. It's very bright with a simple, clean aesthetic. I arrived right around opening so there wasn't a line. The menu is straight forward- I knew I wanted a tea drink with milk and a fruit tea, so I decided on the Cloud Matcha Latte (without the cloud) and added boba (extra $0.99) and the Mulberry Strawberry Boom with boba. My order was done within 2-3 minutes and packaged very well in a paper bag. Both drinks were so good! The matcha is nice and creamy, and the boba added some chewy texture. I wish it was a little stronger on the matcha so maybe I'll try the supreme matcha latte next time. I think I liked the Mulberry Strawberry Boom more- light sweet was perfect since it had boba and the mulberry chunks made the drink so unique. They were offering free, limited edition magnets if pictures were posted on social media. Came here for dessert after a Sunday dim sum early lunch with my family. I like that the Hey Tea stores always smell amazing. I had it for the first time in Asia and am happy to see them pop up now in the Bay Area. We had a huge party of 7. There is not much room inside, just a few seats and a standing area to wait for your drinks. Most of my family decided to stand outside the door to wait. We ordered at the screen and we did around 15 to 20 minutes for all of our drinks to come out. It seemed that online orders were popular. There was always a stream of people coming in and out. I imagine it must be busy like this most days. The ingredients feel fresh and the tea feels high-quality. The menu is extensive and customizable. I got the jasmine latte. Minus one star for the cashier interaction. I understand that promotions like BOGO can make things extremely busy and stressful, and I truly appreciate how hard the staff works during those times. The tea quality is always consistent and never a disappointment, which is why I keep coming back. However, during my recent visit, I had an uncomfortable interaction with the cashier. After placing my order, I showed my rewards QR code before he entered it into the system because on previous visits I had been told it was "too late" to scan afterward. He told me he needed to put the order in first before scanning. I said I understood and asked him to go ahead and enter it, explaining that I just didn't want to miss my reward again. He repeated himself, and I again assured him I understood and told him to take his time and scan it afterward. The interaction felt unnecessarily passive-aggressive, which made the experience awkward. I even noticed the customer in front of me was unable to scan his reward afterward, which reinforced my concern. I completely understand being overwhelmed during a promotion. It might help to have more staff scheduled on promo days so employees aren't stretched so thin. The service and the drink is great, however, the drink came with 2 inches is foam after blending. I got the green grape boom such has no cheese foam on top. Those foam when it finally settle after 30 minutes, there's still a good 1 inch gap until the top as shown in the picture. There was no other drinks in the store has that much foam. I ordered it in store and observed all the other drinks that were on the counter waiting to be picked up. I enjoyed the drink but it was it rip off to me.
