Ordering a drink here is a mess. There is a long line of people waiting to order and only ONE kiosk. And as you would expect with a kiosk, each person takes their time to scroll through the options so each person takes roughly a minute or so to order. All in all, it took around 15 minutes to get our order in. After you order, it takes another 20 minutes to wait for your drink to be ready. Waiting 35 minutes or so to get tea is not really worth it in my opinion. Advice to management: add more kiosks so that there's 2-3 going at a time. I find this boba chain to be extremely overrated. I have tried it several times but I don't get the hype. It is extremely crowded everyday especially on weekends. Ordering through the app is mostly disabled so you need to stand in long lines and wait even longer to get the order ready. They are so overwhelmed by the amount of orders they receive that sometimes the drink is 90% ready but is still sitting in the last stage to be packaged and marked as ready which is delays the drinks a lot and decreases its freshness. I have tried all their matcha drinks and the one thing I like about their drinks is the taste and quality of their matcha. It's smooth and seems to be of good quality. I like the option of adding extra matcha and it still doesn't taste bitter. The matcha cloud in the drink goes well with the drink and compensates a bit for the extremely large quantity of ice they put. Without the matcha cloud the matcha drinks taste watered down. It took me five tries to go on a slow day like Monday or Tuesday afternoon, finally. Phew! I got to try their Yumberry Boom and Cloud Coconut Blue, both of which were under 50% sweetness. The Yumberry was a bit sour with less sweetness, but I managed to finish it like a berry smoothie with slush. The Cloud Coconut Blue was my favorite so far. It contained coconut milk, blue spirulina (vegan and natural), and a layer of creamy matcha cloud with coconut jelly, which was aesthetically pleasing to mix and drink. My first time trying Heytea was in Korea. We were in the plaza for lunch and saw there is a Heytea. They are located in the Milpitas Square Plaza, which is a super busy plaza. We came here for late lunch around 1:30 and it was hard to find a parking spot even though there are many parking spaces in general. There were cars parked on the streets. It was that busy. There are so many businesses in this plaza, 99 Ranch, many restaurants, boba/coffee shops, etc. I was super excited. I definitely needed to get a drink from here! There were a lot of people inside and outside the store. I downloaded the app to place an order online. Unfortunately, they were not accepting any online orders at the time. We got in line to place an order on the kiosk inside. After waiting 15 mins, we finally got up to the kiosk. There is only one kiosk, by the way. Also, there was no option to order from a staff member while we were there. The store itself is very small. There are benches for customers but gets super cramped inside. The only interactions with the staff is when you pick up your drinks. They do not text you when your drink is ready. You have to physically be there to hear your numbers be called. They don't even have a mic. So if you're outside or somewhere else, you won't be able to hear them when your numbers are being called. However, there is a screen on their wall to show which order numbers are ready for pickup. Our drinks took about 30 mins. We decided on Matcha Cloud Coconut Blue and Coconut Mango Boom. Matcha cloud was pretty good but for me, I felt the matcha was a bit too much. My boyfriend liked it though. Coconut mango was really good. It was creamy and just enough sweetness. Next time when i'm back in Milpitas, I do want to come back here again. Hope they will figure out a way to make the ordering process more smoothly and less wait. Maybe add another kiosk if it is possible. The popularity surrounding Hey Tea is insane but justified. I tried their fruit teas in China and they instantly hooked me. When I saw a storefront on my recent trip to San Jose, I knew I had to drop by. One of Hey Tea's greatest strengths is coming up with unique flavors. Their mango grapefruit boom, as wacky as the combination sounds, works really well on a sunny day. The mini pearls add a lovely texture to the overall drink. Additionally, I've never heard of a mulberry fruit tea anywhere else. Their underrated strawberry mulberry boom hides on the menu in plain sight, but it contends with the more popular mango/matcha drinks. I recommend giving it a shot if you're wanting to try something new. No room for hanging out, especially during peak hours. With a line out the door and a crowded room full of waiting customers, the total time adds up to 20-40 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. After having to wait a long time my first time having it in San Jose and not feeling impressed by the drinks I got, I think I just wasn't ordering the right drink for my taste buds. My first experience of hey tea was when we were in Singapore years ago and the mulberry and grape drinks were sooo good and refreshing. I knew there was a lot of hype of the franchise coming here so I waited a long while for the hype to die down. Well we showed up and there was a decent line but it didn't span outside like when they first opened. They do only have one kiosk and no one taking orders though. The gripe... it took us 30+ minutes to get to the kiosk. The menu is shown no where else so a lot was no longer in season as far as fruit teas... they really only has the crisp grape. You order your drinks.. it's another 40+ min to get your drink and it doesn't seem like there's a rhyme or reason of inside orders vs online orders. Also, online is used loosely you can't just order online via their website or snack pass or toast you have to only download their app. After waiting what seemed like forever it was almost our turn I could see 1 of my 2 drinks and then I see production is halted because someone with an online order didn't pick up their drink in a timely matter. She has probably 6 drinks that have now all melted and the worker said she will get priority and her drinks will be remade immediately. There were A LOT of online orders. That seemed to get priority over the kiosk orders. The drinks. Were tasty not as good as they were overseas. But definitely not worth the wait. This place used to be home to Sweetheart Candies, my first introduction to pearl drinks in the 90s and IMO the singular place that made the best pearls. Their pearls were so delicious and very al dente. Used to call them pearls/pearl drinks back in the day, then somewhere around 2010-2013 everyone seemingly just unanimously shifted over to calling it boba now. It has since shifted hands a few times, used to be a no namer mom and pop shop, then used to be a Gong Cha, now it's Hey Tea. Decided to give it a few more shots since I didn't really like it during my trip down to Irvine. I think their Coconut Cloud Latte is decent, and visually appealing. I don't really get it with boba though, it feels hearty enough as is. The lines are still long and the place does a poor job of holding that line. It can get really messy and crowded in there real quick. Their self service kiosk is disabled but they don't put a sign that says it's disabled. So you might feel inclined to walk over to it (where it's towards the front of the line) to try and use it but don't be fooled, you will lose your place in line if you do. Their online order system is also disabled. It's barely an OK for me because some of the methods they're handling things like the kiosk and online ordering system is just lame. read more

They were running a b1g1 free deal on the cloud matcha drinks so we ended up with four drinks lol the two cloud drinks (which seemed super popular) were so mediocre tasting. Honestly just tasted like milk, although I did enjoy the coconut jelly. My fave was the jasmine tea with cream top, which had a nice floral flavor. The cups are cute and the lids are innovative. I just don't think it's worth the wait, in addition to the small space and no organized system to pick up your drink (we were constantly checking the TV screen, no announcements being made so who knows how long your drink just sits there). I loved the hot jasmine tea with oat milk, but this location removed hot drinks and the oat milk option. This definitely seemed popular and we waited at least 10 min for our drinks. I think adding fresh coconut as well would have made this drink a game changer instead of only coconut milk, but the mango was really nice. 2.5/5 Supreme Brown Sugar Bobo Milk really fell flat because there was really nothing special about the flavor of the brown sugar. The boba was nice and soft and was the only part of the drink that I could enjoy. Maybe it's the premium ingredients, but I have other options in the same complex for better. 4.5/5 Jasmine Latte was solid and showed that their teas shine a lot as well. It was so strong in flavor and you could really taste the floral notes. You can tell the quality from the drinks, but one of their popular brown sugar drinks did not match up at all.
