Had this the first time In Shanghai and I fell in love with their drinks. So I was very happy to hear they were opening out here in Irvine! My favorite is the grape boom. If you are a grape lover I highly recommend this drink taste just like a grape candy without the artificial taste. I don't like my drinks very sweet so I get it with no sugar there is real bits of grape on the bottom of the drink and jelly. Service is decent and sometimes the line can get long. First time here after they took over one of my favorites YiFang. Lines have been out the door for months so excited to finally try this place. Everything on menu looked delish but since the weather turning cold I ordered the hot zen matcha. It was delicious! Super creamy and rich with good quality matcha. I tasted my husband's brown sugar milk tea w boba and the boba was on spot, flavor of tea was very good. I loved that on the receipt all the information was written about using all quality products, real fruit and tea leaves and real sugar. What's the use of ordering ahead and your drinks were not ready when you show up 1/2 hour later? I ordered online and when I showed up to pick up the order, there were at least 10 people with receipts in their hands waiting to pick up their drinks as well. There was only one person taking orders, and she didn't stop taking order to pass out the drinks that were piling up behind her. After standing around for 5 minutes and unable to even get to the cashier to ask for my drinks, I squeezed my way out of the chaos and left. I didn't get my drinks, which I paid $11.88 for. Drinks were good but not worth the craziness. I put in a mobile order on Saturday 7pm. The estimate said 15 mins, which was fine. I get to the store in 15 minutes and there was a group of 10-20 people from the counter to the sidewalk waiting to get their drinks. No line, just a mob. The staff didn't even try to maintain any order. They really need to call out when orders are ready. I'll be skipping this place at peak hours. read more

Finally got time to write this review! I visited Heytea this Thursday afternoon. There was a guy at the front counter who was super friendly and patient. I asked a lot of questions about the drinks, and he answered every one of them kindly and clearly. His service really made my experience better! Love this place and come here all the time, but people don't know how to get in line, and the staff doesn't seem to care about telling them. I keep getting cut in line--today was the fourth time already. It's not even that crowded for the staff to not notice others cutting in line. read more

It tastes like sugar water. Long wait (almost an hr from order to get my drink) with placing wrong order for me. I ordered same drink for large and regular size but i got two diff drink. However there wasn't anywhere to sit (but my friend and I went to a park and sat in the shade -- still a great time!), and there was a weird smell in the shop as well. Now that they have online ordering through their app, it's definitely worth going by here. The yumberry boom is the go to here since you never see yumberry in the states. Decent. I first want to compliment the employees, it was so so busy but they managed to get my drink out within a few minutes despite the craziness. On top of that, the young woman who took my order was so kind. It's too bad I didn't catch her name, but I was there today around 2:30pm. I got the Cloud Matcha. The cheese foam is very very cheesy, so if you like a stronger, saltier cheese, I totally recommend their cheese foam. If you prefer a lighter and more mild taste, then I would probably pass on their cheese. It breaks my heart that the matcha disappointed me! It was pretty expensive, $7.99. I was hoping the quality would match the price. However, it tasted a bit similar to a western coffee chain's matcha latte- not bad, but just not what I had hoped for, which is why I gave this place only 4 stars. My boyfriend, on the other hand, said their fruit drinks are super good! So if you can skip on the matcha, I would go for the fruit drinks next time. read more

The store is incredibly small. There is absolutely no organization when it comes to ordering/picking up drinks. They closed online ordering so when I made an account and gave them my email for free, I could not even use the discount. I waited around 20 minutes for two drinks. I was handed the wrong order at pickup and had to wait even longer to get the right order because others swarmed the pickup counter. Overall not worth it for a decent milk tea. Lots of drinks options. Mango boom is one of the best yet! So far the wait times has been less than what they said. The store is small not meant to be wait inside it can get crowded. Best time to go is either once they open, or order ahead of time at least 30 mins. read more

Yikes! What a miss. THE LOCATION - Good enough, but parking isn't great. And with literally 3 other boba places within walking distance, I'm not sure this is the one to go to. THE SERVICE - Employees were super nice, exceptional. That's what gives it the two stars and that's it. - Wait to order wasn't bad as the line was only ~8 people deep when we got in. The terrible part was that it took 25 minutes to get our drinks. THE DRINKS I suspect the drinks may have been done quickly but sat there for the majority of the 25 minutes bc the slushie drink was completely liquid and the milk tea had practically no ice (and you can tell the water from the ice separated from the drink itself). - Grapefruit Boom: flavor was fine but it was completely melted; my understanding is that it was supposed to be slushie-like. Nope. Just liquid by the time I got it. 7/10 for flavor as even at 50% it was too sweet and the grapefruit bits were actually really unpleasant to encounter as they were bitter AF, 1/10 for texture (the "boom" bits were tasty) - Milk Tea with "bobo" (employees confirmed it was a mistype... It's EVERYWHERE even on their signage lol): my friends text to me was "Oh My God, it's legit disgusting"... so I think one can assume 0/10? OVERALL At almost $8/ drink, you'd expect at least a decent drink, if not a GREAT drink. Instead, we got completely melted, drinks that weren't good, and just frankly expensive and overpriced, especially since the line and wait for the drinks were about 45mins. I understand there's lots of customers, trust ive worked food since hs, but we have a system where we PUT THE DRINKS OUT TO THE FRONT AFTER MAKING DRINKS AND STOP TAKING IN ORDERS IF THERES TOO MUCH, but the guy making it just piled the drinks in the back without bringing it to the front so we had to keep asking when ours is out since our number was displayed on the screen but our drinks weren't. The drinks were really good. I got the boba milk tea (least sweet) and grapefruit bloom (medium sweet). You can taste the quality of the tea and milk in their drinks. I could taste the strength of the tea, and it was well balanced with the milk. The real fruit was yummy too. In terms of sweetness, I love how they have a sugar free sweetener, and I can see a lot more boba places including this in the future. My drinks felt healthier, and I think the sweetness levels were just right for me. However, a downside was that the boba was really clumpy. It was a hassle trying to finish my drink, but it was still chewy and tasty overall. Service was quick even while busy, and the interior was nice. They also have a tv for the drink queue, which was convenient. I ordered via the app, which might still be buggy at times, but it could be helpful to order ahead! Tea quality here is one of the better ones in the area. Got 3 drinks and the mulberry bloom is not as good as the one in Soma but I can understand as they literally use real mulberry fruit and pulp. honestly I fell in love with this place bc the app tells you the calories of the drink!! Not a lot of places disclose this information and to have a delicious drink under 70 calories is SUCH A GREAT OFFERING!! Love the Bobo crystal boba agar. Right when you walk by the door, you're hit with the smell of fragrant and delicious tea and I knew this place would be good! I got the mango grapefruit bloom which came with sago and clear pearls and it was so good!! The mango was so sweet and complimented the grapefruit so well. It's a little thinner than other places so it's definitely more drink like. I like the thicker drinks better but it definitely wasn't a bad thing with this drink. There other drinks also look really good (I'm definitely ordering the mango passion fruit blast next time!!) and just seem really high quality, like you're really getting your bang for your buck (and at Irvine prices, yeah this is a bit steep but not surprising). The place was booming when we got there and they said our drinks would take about 8 minutes but it was out much faster than that, to our pleasant surprise. All in all, definitely can see why this place is popular and I WILL BE BACK as this plaza has plenty of good Asian food spots and even 99ranch market to swing by at the same time! read more

I got the crisp grape boom & my husband got the supreme matcha latte. Matcha latte tasted like any other matcha latte, nothing special. My grape boom tasted like watered down grape juice with a few small pieces of grape at the bottom. Save yourself the wait and money and go somewhere else. Totally disappointed. read more

The brown sugar boba milk tea is delicious! The boba was perfectly chewy but still soft. They were quick at making the drinks, but the floor inside was a little dirty which kind of ruined the vibes. Maybe they need a mat at the entrance. Definitely a treat though because a drink is $7. read more
