half drank and mixed up mango coconut boom

The service was very speedy and we got our drinks in no time. the shop is very tiny and was a bit packed with performative males but that is a-okay. i got the mango coconut boom which kinda just tastes like mango sticky rice and made my stomach hurt. should've ordered something else.

Heytea is always my #1 milk tea spot in Newbury. We were able to order online and stroll around so we wouldn't have to wait in the long line. The drink is always good especially my favorite matcha. I like how we can choose designs on the sticker now which adds a cute touch. Really glad they opened many heytea spots around Massachusetts after having plenty when I went to China a few years ago.

Always seem to have issues at this location. Drinks always say ready to pickup, but usually isn't ready haha. The Allston location seems to have the ops down a bit better. we wait for while the rest of the order sits out and watering down. Less fresh haha. Waiting and waiting. We ordered ahead at 4:20p- estimated 30 min, no problem... usually takes a little longer on newbury. 5:30pm (3/5) drinks been sitting on counter for 30min plus and 2 drinks still missing? (While marked ready) Think they ran out of something but didn't tell me i just overheard. Then awhile later I guess the drinks were on the counter but the front staff all missed it so had to wait for them to reprint label and do new ones (overheard them talking) Least it was fresh and i didn't get handed a mixed older timed one sitting out. We are hey tea fans, and do order weekly, multiple times even a week. So we'll be back but probably avoid newbury unless it's convenient. Staff is nice overall, just annoyed haha seemed so disorganized. Other staff looking for other orders that came well after to "hurry it up." Lol i get it flirt and do your thing, just don't forget my drinks please!

I'm always looking for the yummiest desserts and this was not the exception, their mango,grapefruit coconut drink was AMAZING!! Truly delish, unfortunately I didn't give them a higher rating because ordering was a bit of a hassle. First off, it's mega crowded (good sign of something being very good perhaps?) but the line to order and the line to pickup is not very clear, so you find yourself in a puddle of people not sure where to go. The place is tiny and they have a few seats, very very few, they have giant screens on the top which you would think would have the menu, so as you wait, you can start deciding what to have, as a first time comer, but they don't. The menu is strictly on a tiny screen at the front of the line, right before you order. There's also a QR code where you can order ahead, this is great!... except that code is also at the counter and you can't get to it unless you are next in line which kinda defeats the purpose if you as me lol. I love efficiency and this wasn't it for me. The place itself looked clean and cute. The staff was uneventful, kinda no emotion lol. I think if you google the website and order ahead, youll have a better experience. Would I go back? Yes, absolutely, their product is a winner, getting to it not so much but now I know for next time, and you do too!

As a certified coconut mango boom lover, I was beyond devastated that this location had *run out* of this drink on a weekday afternoon! My friend and I ended up getting the frozen grape and frozen grapefruit drinks, but neither was as good as the coconut mango boom. We ordered on the app and it took quite a while for our drinks to be ready, so we ended up killing time at Prudential. I think it's great that there's a location on a place as popular as Newbury but the actual storefront was quite disorganized when we were finally able to get our drinks - there's very limited seating overall and due to the sheer size of how small the store is, I would highly recommend ordering online and taking it to go because there's just no space/time to look through the menu in-person without getting shoved this way and that. Shout out to the workers who deal with this kind of chaos on a daily basis!

After my first sip I understand the hype and have become a loyal fan. Unfortunately, I was on vacation and home does not have a location for me to frequent. Nevertheless, the mango boom and crisp grape boom are delicious. I went back shortly after getting my first drink because it was so good and wanted to try another drink. The staff are friendly and and quick as can be. They're a small shop that's extremely busy, and rightfully so. Everything is super fresh and tastes of quality.

Listen... we are HEYTEA lovers & usually order at least once a week, sometimes multiples times a week. We order for pickup from the Allston location often and occasionally order from Newbury St location. We pretty much try to avoid ordering from here unless we are already shopping on Newbury St because for whatever reason, we always have issues with ordering. A few days ago, we made a 5 drink order for pickup through the app from here since we were down the street & the estimated time was ~30 minutes. No problem! We arrived and parked a block away and proceeded to wait 30 minutes in the car. I go back to the app to see if there was any updates on if the drinks were ready & unfortunately, the app still said 24 minutes... after waiting 30 minutes already. Eventually, our drinks were ready 1hr30min later! Staff checked our order off as ready, even though 2 out of the 5 drinks were missing. I guess the issue was that the drinks were misplaced & there was lack of communication w/ the staff & no communication at all from the staff to us about what was going on, so we had to wait even longer for the drinks to be remade as they had been sitting out melting for an hour essentially. I've noticed that in person orders are definitely prioritized over online app orders, it makes sense I get it, but having our wait time triple when there were no customers around was a little ridiculous honestly. We've also ordered from here the week before when there was no queue at all... still ended up taking 30 min for two drinks to be ready. In comparison to Allston location and other HeyTeas, they are not efficient at all & are especially slow with preparing drinks. There needs to be a better system here because this is not acceptable.

Heytea announced BOGO matcha drink that's a limited edition collab with upcoming wicked movie. I arrived just before 12 and surprised to find that the store is open and staff is in full gear already. There's less than 5 ppl in line but the staff taking the order is really slow and had trouble getting the correct change when the person in front of me paid in cash. I waited more than 20min for my drinks when there's at least 10 ready made drinks on the counter and when asked, they simply replied that those are for online orders. I feel like they shouldn't be prioritizing online orders... The drink itself is matcha and jasmine tea based with a pomelo/dragonfruit cloud. I got it at 70% sugar and thought it was enough sweetness and a good mix of tea and citrus flavor. Would recommend!

Wanted to try this place because of Lisa's hype. Apparently she likes the blue cloud matcha so that's what I got. It's good for beginner matcha drinker but it's definitely not for me. The coconut impart is refreshing though. We also got a decaf blue fruit tea with mango. It was tasty at the first couple sips but my kids didn't really like it and we ended up wasting most of the drink. What bother me about this place is the service. I paid for the drinks. Receipt was printed. They made my drinks but didn't call our numbers. I waited for a while and then asked them. The cashier told me I need to show my credit card proof that the drinks I paid for went through. So I had to log into my credit card app to show her before I can grab my drinks. This is such a terrible service even when my receipt said PAID WITH CREDIT DEBIT CARD. Thanks goodness there's no heytea where I live but even when they come, I wouldn't return bc they're just your average boba place.

It's a tiny store with extremely limited seating (seated capacity max 6) so don't expect to linger for too long. However, the interior is very brightly lit and feels modern. I ordered the supreme matcha latte, which was priced at $7.99 (pre-tax). I also requested less ice and 50% sugar, which were the right calls. I picked it over the triple matcha latte purely because it has the "recommended" status next to it on the menu, and I'm glad to say that even in retrospect I think it was a good choice. The menu states that it has matcha cloud - I had no clue what it was, but I was extremely impressed to discover that I really liked it (and coming from someone who doesn't like cheese foam!). The matcha itself was also not at all watered down, which can be common with iced matcha lattes. Overall, I thought it was a great drink and highly recommend. It lost a star purely because of their menu (or lack thereof). There's always a line here, so good customers should be deciding what they want to order before they get to the front - except there is no visible menu in the store, except flat on the counter right in front of the cashier. There are screens above the cashier's head that would make prime menu-viewing spots, but they spotlight exactly 3 drinks and don't even switch to the menu on a preset timer. I also couldn't find the menu online and was basing my "best guess" on the Boston Allston location's (third party) menu, which turned out to be priced incorrectly. Finally, even when I did reach the front and check the menu, my drink didn't state that it included jelly - but my drink did come with jelly! I'm not a fan, so if I had known that jelly was an ingredient, I would've requested to leave it out.

Wait time was about 20 minutes, and then another 20 for our drinks to be ready on a Sunday afternoon! Super tiny store and the line took up basically half of the inside, with the line going outside into the hallway. Very little seating, I think about 6 people were able to be seated a time (you can sit on the window sill as well, but I'm not sure if that's considered seating). The barista was really helpful, they spoke Mandarin & Cantonese and let my family know what to order for our first time at a HeyTea, and according to our preferences. However be aware that they do not offer alternative milk options here, all of their drinks are made with whole milk! My little brother enjoyed his Mango Grapefruit Boom, he enjoyed the bits of sago and the milky texture of the drink. The matcha latte I got was not bad either, it was the right amount of sweetness and thickness without it feeling like a typical coffee latte! I enjoyed how rich it was. My mom enjoyed her passion fruit blast, it was a very refreshing drink in the July humidity.

Ordering from Heytea is quick and easy, especially through their app, which makes pickup super convenient. The drinks are like Asian desserts in a cup -- refreshing, flavorful, and made with quality ingredients. However, the app or online ordering system is sometimes unavailable during busy times or when the system is down, which happens more often than it should. Went here a couple days ago for the first time and had the Wicked Matcha. Excellent. I love how they ask how sweet you'd like the drink and the amount of matcha. Wait time was 20 minutes, but understandable. Line was out the door. First time ever having matcha, I'd go back. read more

OMG. I had to wait more than an hour just to get a drink, and they were preparing other orders before mine. The order numbers were not even being called in sequence. The entire place smelled like rotten milk mixed with bleach. It was honestly nauseating. And to make it worse, the drinks were not what I expected at all. If you're reading this review, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. You'll get the same quality drink -- if not better -- without wasting your time. My friend was in a car and she got a nap and woke up and feeling refresh. She usually uses melatonin for sleep, but this time she didn't have to. Her eye bag are showing significant improvement. read more

Absolutely horrible. Waited 45 minutes and then the person handing out orders at the bar spilled my drink because he picked it up by the lid and then asked if I still wanted it. I asked if he had a napkin or a different lid and he said no and then said "well what do you want me to do about it?". I don't know, sir. I don't work here. He then offered to pour it into a different cup which resulted in losing half the toppings and mochi that I paid $9 for. First and last time going here -_- read more

Writing this review in hopes for some operational improvement with how this location handled their customer and some backlog. I was so excited to try Hey Tea because I had seen it positively promoted by family and friends around the country. We came in to order a drink before beginning a commute home. After we had already made the order, we noticed that the shop was full of people with tickets in hand and no drinks. We noticed people in the hallway also in the same boat. How long was everyone waiting for their drinks? Asking a fellow customer they shared they waited about 30 minutes already. The next number they called was another 30 numbers behind. My friend overheard a staff member say it would be a 30 minute wait for the order, which we wish we knew would be the case when we took our order. We had a time constraint and unfortunately never got our drink. It would've been appreciated if they could have shared a wait time in person and in app so customers could decide if they wanted to wait. I'm hoping to try it again in the future or another location for a better and more effective experience read more

Wait is way too long, and the boba itself is not that special to warrant that long of a wait time. They have countless drinks on the counter and way more workers than their competitors, such as Gong Cha (which usually has 2-3 workers at a time), yet still cannot find a customer's drink and leaves everyone waiting in a tiny room for 20-30 minutes at a time. The teas here are fantastic. The one star review is whoever owns and managers this place, and NOT for the workers. This place is truly disorganized, chaotic, and quite honestly a fire hazard the way people are packed in there like sardines. I feel terrible for the workers who seem to be doing their best to handle the crowds and high volume of orders without more support from management. Despite being completely overwhelmed, the workers remain polite and kind. Hope they can improve their system. read more

First time going here bc it was hyped up. I went on Monday order at 3pm. I ordered one drink and it took 41 minutes. The worst part of the was the service. The person handing out the drinks was giving attitude to those coming up to check on their drink. Ive never waited this long for a drink. Ok, so I never leave reviews for any restaurants, but I've constantly had bad experiences at this location. I have worked in a busy cafe before, and I understand that sometimes the place can be understaffed, but this location always seems to be understaffed. The staff who are on the clock also don't work efficiently at all, and they don't have the best attitude when dealing with mishaps that they've caused. Today was especially bad as it took over 45 mins to prepare my order, which is totally fine, but even when it was ready, they took 20 mins to get it out, which caused my drink to melt. The staff giving out the orders was taking so long to get each drink out, which really confused me because you just have to get the person's order number, find the drink (which should've been done), and give it to them. After 2 people got their order, the staff member left and went to the back, and no one was giving out the drink (which was already made) for 10 mins. The staff was also working at a speed that felt unreal. As someone who just wanted to get their drink, they were moving at an ungodly speed and ignoring all the customers who LITERALLY JUST WANTED TO GET THE DRINK THAT WAS ALREADY MADE!!! If it wasn't made, I understand, but you have to just give out the drinks, and that's it. I'm not sure what was so complicated about this task. But overall, they could use better management and a system to deal with these orders and train their staff better. read more

Just ordered a simple milk tea and the lady snapped at me "read off the menu which one!" Sorry I didn't see that there was two milk tea options, god forbid. Then she snapped and my friend and I when we were trying to get our drinks. A smile would go an along away HEYTEA! Lose the attitudes . It was okay I suppose. the boba here was very chewy and nice and the milk teas were very creamy, rich, and flavorful. the vibe was very eco friendly. the service was somewhat fast ig.. idk there were a lot of people many like 10 min wait? overall i really enjoyed it! the cups were very cute and i got a jasmine milk tea latte and it was a very interesting cup design! i would 100% reccomend tho!! read more

This place is popular. A lot of people come here for their fruit tea. I want to try next time. I tried the jasmine latte with boba, it's pretty good. Jasmine tea is nice but not too strong. Boba has the right texture. They have limited seating inside. read more

My first impression is the place smell really bad. I placed my order thinking it would around 5-10 mins. But 40 MINUTES AFTER, they told me they ran out of boba and they haven't make my drink. At that points they already make 30 orders after mine number and did not tell me they could not make my drink. They made me wait 40 mins just to tell me they ran out of boba when they could have tell me much earlier. read more

Waited about an hour on a Sunday for their grand opening. Kind staff who will help you order based on preferences. Got the 'water' version of the mango coconut boom and would recommend getting the regular with pulp. The water version was still good (tastes like mango lassi) and comes with sago. Make sure to ask for boba since they won't ask you if you want to add it read more

Waiting for 15 minutes, new customers come in, "it's going to be 15 minutes." I asked how long would mine be ready they said 15 more minutes. I think 15 minutes is just a default time for them. Prepare to wait 30 plus even when not super busy! read more

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANTED TO BE DISAPPOINTED AND DISREGARDED.The cashier that took my order had an attitude problem, rolled her eyes numerous times, sighed, and had a rude tone when I tried to order my drink. Additionally she was no help to find a simple drink. As I was unfamiliar with the menu, I requested some help to find the popular Mango Coconut Blue Drink. At the time I only knew it to be coconut and blue, when giving her this information she loudly exasperated 'OH MY GOD. THEY HATE ME' in frustration tone. She also exclaimed 'We have a lot of blue drinks' in an irritated tone. After my experience with the cashier, I received my drink which had an unusual taste similar to rotten mango. read more

I placed an order in advance at HeyTea and went to pick it up, but when I gave my order number to the staff, she didn't say a single word and had a very cold attitude. At least say something--are you still preparing it or what? I had no idea if she was handing me my drink or someone else's. I've been to the Allston location before, and their service was completely different. The staff there are very friendly and always ask if you want the drink right now or to go. This experience felt very impersonal and unwelcoming. I hope HeyTea takes service quality seriously and works on improving staff communication and attitude so customers don't feel ignored. read more

PLUS, they close later than both. I have this bad habit of going here almost every time I have a meal in the area LOL. The addiction is real! I love that they keep adding new drinks to their menu... keeps it interesting. My favorite is still the Mango Coconut Boom but I'm a fan of most of their new drinks, like the Golden Oolong Yuzu & their King Jasmine Guava! I tried the Pistachio Cloud Jasmine Coconut, as well, and it's super similar to one of my favorites from MollyTea. I prefer the one from MollyTea more w/ champaca tea. Since their opening here, I have tried almost all of the drinks & their mango coconut boom is STILL superior! Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys mango. It is pretty much their version of mango pomelo sago (they have a version with pomelo but I like it without). SO GOOD! ***Pro tip: order ahead of time via HeyTea app. This is a lifesaver, since the wait time is pretty atrocious most days still. Usually takes ~20 min to be ready.

I ordered a large taro milk tea and it was everything I had hoped for. Flavorful, not too sweet, and the tapioca was a wonderful consistency. My only thing was that it was so busy and loud that the staff were unable to continuously call out when orders were complete, or you couldn't hear them. I eventually went up to the bar, noticed my drink had been sitting a few minutes, yelled over, "This is mine, thanks!!" Smiled, and then grabbed it. Beyond that? The clam chowder was also disappointing. I kept wondering where the clams were because I barely tasted any. It was very thick and mostly tasted like corn. There were definitely some highlights, especially the bun with fresh lobster and the atmosphere, but the food didn't quite live up to the cost. The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. It was a very satiating bowl. Cant wait to come back next time again!

hey everyone i work at heytea well not anymore because they treated me very poorly and disrespectful. i work very hard at this job and never got a promotion even when i asked. i would work sometimes 8 days in a row with no break at all. when people would call out in mornings it would just be me opening the WHOLE store in under 3 hours mind you we need at least 4 people for opening. when i would need days off for doctors appointments they just didn't acknowledge my request and put me on for those days. even if im feeling sick and called out 5 hours before my shift i got a write up. now that i would be scared to call out i would go in sick. there is begs pretty much everywhere in the store. when its on the fruit they would just scoop it out and go on about their day they wouldn't even throw away the whole section of fruit and make new fruit. the dishes only get washed with sanitizer never soap. we haven't washed the dishes with soap since December. the food we also have is old by a few weeks. the floors are molding and it smells like moldy milk, and cheese. it's very much all around disgusting in this store. there's are the pictures of the bugs. read more

Heytea has made its way to Newbury Street, bringing along the same great drinks you'd find at their Allston spot. The space is a bit smaller, but the staff keep things moving quickly, so the line doesn't feel too bad even when it's busy. We tried a few of their drinks and they all hit the mark, as they were all flavorful, well-balanced, and made just right. Whether you're into cheese foam teas or fruit-based drinks, it's a solid option if you're in the area and craving something refreshing. The Mango Coconut Boom is one of our favorites, and highly recommended. Definitely worth a stop if you're already a fan or want to try something new. read more
