My husband wanted to salt them which is extremely rare for him as he never adds salt to anything. What a gem! Service was so attentive from the moment we entered until being personally walked to the lovely rooftop bar upstairs for an after dinner cocktail. The space is elegant, yet cozy. The food at Hemingway is so good I could eat here every night. The fillet is always cooked to your specifications and is the best steak in town. I love the wedge salad, a classic salad from my childhood days when my parents ordered it in Dallas. The fois gras is sheer perfection. It could easily go head to head with Michelin star restaurants in France. The fish is beautifully presented and excellent. I trust the servers so much I sometimes ask for their recommendations and it's always excellent. The chocolate cake dessert melts in your mouth. Servers are on point! Thank you! The bartender is simply amazing! When he takes your order, I'll ask him to make one up for me which he happily and does expertly. The manager is the best! He notices everything. And always stops by to ask how everything is. Service is so impeccable it's almost impossible to compare them to any other restaurant, they're a cut above! Ambiance is gorgeous! Really sumptuous and unique atmosphere. The food and service were really good, though it doesn't quite rise to the level of being commensurate with the price (it was about $300 for a dinner for two, and that's without any alcohol). It's not a good sign if a steakhouse doesn't ask you to cut into your steak to check the doneness when they bring it to you. Our server did not, and when I did cut into it, it was significantly rarer than I had asked for. The steak was thrown back onto the grill and then brought back again. It was now a bit burnt on the outside and still a little too rare on the inside. It was, however, still delicious. The big downside of this restaurant is the seating. Parties of two are largely seated in a "diner style" area; one person sits on a long continuous bench side by side with other guests; there are little separate tables along this bench; and the other person sits in a chair with their back to the restaurant facing the bench seats. Each table is only a couple feet apart from the other ones. It was really hard to get comfortable in having a conversation with my spouse, because you can be completely overheard by the guests that are next to you. It's thus not a great spot if you're looking for an intimate special dinner/date night, where you can really reconnect with someone. A nice place overall, and worth checking out, but if you're deciding between here and Mahogany's, the latter's food is a little better, and the experience a little classier overall. read more

I ate at the Hemingway for the first time on my birthday and, unfortunately experienced horrible service from my waitress, Marisa. My family, who had traveled out of state were excited to celebrate with me here, as I had raved about wanting to eat at this place over the past two years. Marisa started off providing good service. She covered all parts of the menu and specials. By the 3rd time she came by, it seemed obvious she had given up on our table. Another server delivered our food to the table and as Marisa walked by with full hands she asked how everything came out and kept walking, then didn't return. I ordered a medium rare NY strip but received a steak that was still raw with a cold center. I sat for 25 minutes with my undercooked steak and empty water glass until my girlfriend left the table to find Marisa. From a server who should have enough experience to know how to address the situation, she did nothing to attempt to correct it, not to mention there was never a manager appearance at our table or any offer to compensate the inconvenience. I was finally able to send my steak back, but by the time Marisa returned to the table with it, my family had finished eating, boxed their leftovers and were ready to leave. As we prepared to leave she made immature comments regarding being "super sorry and going to cry by herself in a corner". She made comments and displayed behaviors not expected from a mature adult and seasoned server. read more

Our first visit to Hemingways an a definately will not be our last. Our entire experience was incredible, from the moment we walked in until our exit. The waitress "Rebecca" was exceptional and our entrees were delicious. I had the Sea Bass Andy husband the Filet Mignon. We ordered the Devils on Horseback for an appetizer and loved it. Very underwhelming. We were seated and it took a fair amount of time for anyone to welcome us and introduce themselves as our server. Finally a gentleman with huge gauges in his earlobes and massive tats said "I'm the bartender, but I'll be serving you tonight. From that point on it felt as we we're always an afterthought to him. We were even told "it would be good for you to order your entrees now, I may get slammed at the bar". We had two entrees, one a nightly special halibut, it was nicely prepared and presented. The second was a strip, it was sorely overcooked. We were never asked about how the food was prepared, again we felt the bartender barely had time for our table. I flew into Tulsa from Boulder to take some friends to The Hemingway on Cherry Street, one of Tulsa's newest steakhouses. The Hemingway cost a pretty penny but it is absolutely delightful. It's the kind of place you'd visit at least once a year for a special occasion, an anniversary or a romantic evening, splurging with friends or a high-end business dinner. We were there to celebrate a birthday. The ambiance is stunning; limited to 14 tables and a few bar seats, the restaurant is relatively quiet making it easy to converse. The background music was perfect, the appetizers were delicious, and the filet mignon melted like butter in our mouths. We shared 3 sides and all started with a caesar salad. The roasted garlic that accompanied the salad, and some dishes, was incredible. Most everyone drank cocktails throughout the evening vs. wine but the selection looked great. We finished with a pot de creme (chocolate) which was breathtakingly good. Our Server, Mel, was nearly flawless with one exception. We loved the appetizer, Devils on Horseback, so much that we ordered another one which we were charged for on our final bill. Sadly, it was never delivered to the table. We didn't quibble. It truly was the only thing Mel missed the entire evening but otherwise, he was spot on when it came to superb service, timing, and follow-up while quietly and covertly taking care of everyone's needs. The supporting table attendants were excellent too and took care of small details like using bread crumbers between settings throughout the evening. We never had to ask for more water (a cardinal sin most restaurants commit). It's been a long while since I've had the kind of service Mel and the team provided. In fact, the only comparable service I've ever had was at the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok, Thailand. The Hemingway may be working out a few small kinks given that it's Tulsa's newest steakhouse yet during our visit, they seemed to get it right. Finally, one member of our party is disabled and uses a wheelchair. The Hemingway was very accommodating from the reservation to the seating. They gave clear instructions as to where to park and enter the building so that we could use the elevator (The Hemingway is located on the basement floor of a building on Cherry Street) and it was fairly easy to navigate the wheelchair through the restaurant. Our final bill for four people was around $450+ and we left Mel a tip of around $140 due to his professionalism, kindness, and attentiveness. Expect to pay around $150+ per person with tip included. The prices aren't listed on the website hence I'm sharing the cost for a great night out. You won't be disappointed so go ahead and splurge. read more

Sadly, the food, server and drinks fell short today. I have been to Hemingways before but I'm not sure I would return. After being seated, we waited 15 minutes for a server to appear. She took our drink orders and we ordered an appetizer. The appetizer arrived but still no drinks or server in sight . We ordered the crab cakes and they were greasy and cold. The Caesar salads and devils on horseback were good. Our entrees were the 8oz filet, salmon over greens, and au gratin potatoes. My husband's steak was so salty and dry ( he ordered it medium) that it was almost inedible. Personally, I think the steak was old. My salmon was medium and I prefer well done. I wish the server would have mentioned that. My greens were so salty that they were inedible. It also had a red sauce that had dried up on the edge of the plate. The greens and sauce were cold. I will say without a doubt the au gratin potatoes were the worst I have ever eaten. You would think with all the food that was left uneaten it would have alerted our server that something was wrong. However, she didn't say a word. We wanted to return our food but we hardly saw our server. She spent all her time at the table near us. As if it weren't bad enough, they need to be clearer on alcohol. We ordered a class of wine but it was only a half pour. We also ordered Pappy's. They didn't tell us it was "B" lot. I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known that. We knew by the taste. She later confirmed our suspicions. We decided our service and food was bad enough that we passed on dessert. The newest member of the Watershed Hospitality Group, The Hemingway, was fantastic! The restaurant is gorgeous as you'd expect from a high end steak house. Our service professional, Angel, was delightful and provided top notch service as well as great dining suggestions. The menu was much broader than shown online, we were happy about that, and included a seafood tower option, oysters, crab and shrimp cocktail. We started with two appetizers, the Wagyu Bone Marrow St. John with smoked salt, herbed salad and grilled bread as well as the highly recommended Tater Tot Waffle topped with Smoked Salmon belly, pickled mustard seed creme fraiche, shaved fennel and cured egg yolk. I'm a sucker for bone marrow spread on grilled bread and this one did not disappoint. BTW, each app easily serves two. Both were fantastic and would get again. We followed that up with their take on a Caesar Salad (Ceasar Gratine) with grilled breadcrumbs and broiled Parmigiano Reggiano and their self-titled "Obligatory Wedge" salad. The wedge salad had rendered bacon, blue cheese crumbles and a flavorful buttermilk dressing, topped with a beautiful onion ring. Two thumbs up. For our main course the two of us shared the 36oz Tomahawk bone in ribeye which was perfectly cooked to our liking, medium rare, well-seasoned and quite flavorful. They offered a number of compound butter combinations for an additional charge. My only minor complaint, I wish they would have included butters of your choice considering it was a steak. For sides we chose the Sweet Corn Gratin with roasted Jalapeño and Tajin and a fantastic Charred Asparagus with a gochujang miso butter. The gochujang miso butter was spicy but a great accompaniment to the Asparagus. We were so stuffed by the end of this feast that we finished with their cookies and milk for dessert, which consisted of two chewy chocolate chip cookies served with locally raised milk. Overall, we would order everything again as I'd hate to eliminate anything we had tonight. They serve a number of 45 day dry aged steaks from 6oz and 8oz filets to a 16oz bone in strip. Unbelievably poor customer service this evening. I am so disappointed I have been here over 10 times in the last few month and had a great time. Tonight was much different. I was upstairs at sidecar and the elevator was out this evening. Our friends had reservations but we did not. At 10:30 pm sharp we were walking down the stairs to go see our friends and possibly grab one drink before they closed at 11:00 on a Saturday night. A short frizzy haired guy is 3 steps in front of us on the stairs with a Hemingway name tag on. He quickly pulled the door stopper and slams the door right in front of us and yells "we close at 11:00". Again it's 10:30 on the dot. I then knocked on the door assuming it was a mistake but I was surely wrong. Two girls stood on the back side of the door talking so we could hear them saying we were "obnoxiously knocking" which we weren't. I called our friends to let us into the restaurant and they came to open the door. We were then met at 10:34 by two girls arguing with us to not let us in because they have had a "repetitive pattern of drunk people knocking" which I absolutely don't believe. For someone who has spent thousands of dollars at this restaurant. And have also recommended them to a ton of people I will no longer eat here or recommend to others. A simple answer of all the door and a "hey we are closed" would have done strides for customer service. Hire better more thoughtful people if you want to be high end. Our early Valentine's Day dinner here exceeded our expectations! The whole staff went above and beyond to make sure our meal was perfect. The sweet host Emily was able to get us a seat at a wonderful booth. Our server Kenny was incredible. He made wonderful recommendations and coursed our meal out perfectly. He was able to give us excellent service while still being personable. I highly recommend him to anyone dining at the Hemingway! First the good. As everyone has mentioned the dining room is very nice. The lady's room was very nice. The service was fine...as one should expect. We both had 4oz steaks and they were very good. Now the bad. Couple seating is against the back wall with one long bench seat facing the room and the other seat facing the wall. This reminded me of seating at a NYC restaurant where they pack you in. It is difficult to carry a conversation with people sitting right next to you...a real turnoff. If you like spicey food you'll be fine...we had cream corn and potatoes algratin. Both too hot for our taste. Oh, the crab cakes were great...actual lumps of crab...but the sauce, you guessed it spicey. For desert we had cheesecake; very band but at least it wasn't spicey! Finally, sweet tea. They don't offer it...hey this is Oklahoma! Tea has got too be a massive profit margin item ...we were just surprised. We don't drink alcohol so with just water our meal was $175 tip included. Oh, no recognition of the birthday celebration either...Flemings do a nice job recognizing special occasions. We like trying new places so it wasn't a total failure...there is just better in Tulsa. For some it may be great but not for us. read more

The building and atmosphere is wonderful. Our waitress was very attentive. My husband and I split the porterhouse. We requested it cooked medium rare. When it came out it was charred on the ends (beyond well done). I have never asked about food at a nice steak house and it's an intimate setting, but I did ask this time. The waitress said that with big steaks it isn't possible to cook them evenly (this was not huge) and that the middle would be medium rare. Well it wasn't, but we did not want to argue. To be fair she did offer to send a manager but we did not want to make a scene. It was very good despite it being very over cooked. We had it Oscar style which was absolutely fantastic. The Brussels sprouts were some of the best I had. Unfortunately though, I'm not sure we will be back after the experience with the steak. There are better competitors in Tulsa that deliver a consistent product. read more

We dined here last night and it was absolutely amazing!! The ambiance and decor are absolutely gorgeous. Our server Angel was very knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. We had the JV seafood tower as appetizer, the crab and shrimp were large and served with drawn butter, cocktail sauce and a spicy sauce I don't remember, it also came with oysters on the half shell. I'm not a fan but tried one and it was good, my husband and our friends enjoyed them. For entrees we each chose the 8oz filet. I had mine cooked medium rare and it was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. The best steak I think I've ever had. For sides, we shared the hassle back potatoes, Mac and cheese and asparagus, the portions were large and all of these were delicious. They have an extensive wine list, I had the Willamette valley Pinot noir but can't remember the name, it was very smooth and quite good. Everyone loved our dining experience. We wish we weren't in a hurry to get to the BOK center because we would have loved to have tried the desserts. We will definitely be back!
