I walked in and was greeted with a smile, the young man working let me know I can sample any of the flavors and I must've tried 5 or 6 of them. He was patient and helpful suggesting some combos. I decided on Vietnamese Coffee and Midnight Chocolate, it was a perfect balance of flavors and both were so incredibly creamy and smooth! Haven't been in a while because my last visit I got the lavender honey (which is my favorite) in a waffle cone on a pretty cold day and the ice cream was melting faster than I could eat it. Most of it ended up on my hands and the floor...did not seem like the freezer was cold enough. I returned recently because I was in the area and my friend wanted ice cream. I tried the Rose Rock (strawberry with pecan and chocolate shavings) and the strawberry flavor was so subtle it seemed like I was eating Vanilla. No strawberry chunks. Waffle cones are fresh and delicious - I prefer getting a pint of lavender honey, sticking it in the freezer and enjoying it later so I can avoid the melting issue and sticky fingers. I had being looking at their social media and saw a blood orange/hibiscus vegan ice cream which made me want to seek them on a hot Sunday afternoon. Sadly, it wasn't available. There has not been a single bad flavor I've tried so far, and the prices are very reasonable when considering the high quality in taste, texture, and general finished product that's served to you. The namesake ice cream flavor (Rose Rock) is especially exceptional. So is the Taro. So is.... You know what, get anything. You can't go wrong. Minor gripe: my first experience with Rose Rock was when it was located at the Boxyard. It has since moved to Downtown Tulsa. And tbh, I... prefer the Boxyard location. Mainly because parking was much easier... And there was significantly more space at the Boxyard to chill out and enjoy your ice cream. Now, there's less room inside the new location. The employees were friendly and they let us sample multiple flavors before we decided. It was not crowded and we felt like we could take our time to decide. We each got a two scoop cups. My boyfriend got a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of chocolate. He said that both were really good, and he is a die-hard mint chocolate chip fan who very rarely ventures out of that flavor. I, on the other hand, tend to be very adventurous with my ice cream flavors. I got a scoop of lavender honey and a scoop of banana pudding. OH. MY. GOODNESS. Both were absolutely incredible-- perfect texture, perfect flavor, perfect portions. I tried the Lavender Honey, the Honeyed Plum and the Amaretto Pistachio. The plum was my overall favorite. I did like the pistachio but it is very sweet. The lavender is still a fave because of the color. I took home a pint of Salted Caramel and Midnight Chocolate. The pints are handpacked and you can get two flavors in one pint. I finally made it around to trying (and reviewing!) this place. Big fan! Really loved the consistency and texture of the ice cream in particular. Of course the flavor was great too. I got the lavender honey. I always love those kinds of flavors, so I really appreciate that they had this one as one of their standard flavors. They also have flavors that are more seasonal or rotate out. But, I knew for my first one the lavender honey was right up my alley... and it didn't disappoint. Sometimes the flavor came out more strong than other times. Like some bites it tasted pretty mild, almost like vanilla (though this could be partly because my tastebuds were just getting more and more used to it). And then sometimes I'd hit a tiny pocket of honey which was fun. Its location in the boxyard adds to the fun and coolness of it all, but also it's super convenient to grab and go too. Great size and price for the size. Can't wait to try more flavors this summer!
