It's YE Gurl--eating ice cream like it's a civic duty and judging the playlist while I do it. ‍ Hello Honey - Downtown Cincinnati 3/29/2025 This stop was purely indulgent. We took a quick day trip to Cincy and made a pit stop with one goal: ice cream. Yes, again. Yes, we have a pattern. And this time the destination was Hello Honey, a local favorite known for its artisan flair. At first glance, we weren't even sure it was open--it was that quiet. But after some squinting and door pushing, we were in, only to find they were mid-menu shuffle and a few crowd favorites were out of stock. (Warm weather + weekend = expected chaos.) We waited behind a family of four in full indecision crisis and a woman who had to have sorbet explained to three confused kids. All in all, we had plenty of time to plan. What We Ordered: We all went for double scoops in a cup ($7 each). I had: Lychee Rosewater - floral and delicate Honey Lavender - subtly sweet with an herbaceous twist Let's just say: worth it. Clean, refreshing flavors that didn't feel heavy or overly sweet. Noticed the manager was hauling inventory to another location, so this downtown spot may be the quieter of the bunch. Which actually makes it great for a lowkey ice cream date or a solo treat-yourself stop. Plenty of seating in the back and a few charming items for sale if you like a side of retail with your scoop. Would I go back? Possibly--but I'm curious about their other locations now that I've had a taste.

Friendliest service and I'm here for the cakes! Sold by the love, there are soo many to choose from - I went with Boston Cream and a small cup of Banana Honeycomb ice cream ($14 ttl) High quality and big enough to split with someone so it's worth the $ Lots of room inside and out to sit with a small group also- outside quite comfortable and aesthetically pleasing

A cute ice cream spot my friends and I stopped. They have so many unique flavors. The service was great and I got to sample a few different flavors. I tried the banana honeycomb and their coconut cream roll cake. The ice cream had the perfect banana flavor and sweetness from the honeycomb. The coconut cream roll cake was so good, I decided to order it for my birthday cake! It is so fluffy and full of coconut flavor. It reminded me of a coconut cream pie. I will definitely be ordering my cakes from here in the future.

I had an opportunity to travel to Cincinnati a couple of weekends ago, and with the beautiful weather I needed some ice cream! Hello Honey's menu had some very interesting and tasty flavors. Unfortunately we were at one of the less busy locations, so some of the flavors were unavailable at the time we visited. That blueberry cheesecake ice cream though - DELICIOUS! Not overly sweet, the blueberries didn't overpower it, and the flavors meshed so well. There was plenty of seating and a small marketplace inside of the shop as well. I plan on coming back here the next time I am in the city!

Was walking around Downtown when we strolled upon Hello Honey. An ice cream shop with multiple locations including Walnut Hills and Pleasant Ridge. They use only fresh ingredients and you can tell. The ice cream is made really well with just the right amount of sweetness. We've tried two flavors, brown butter caramel and banana honeycomb which were both delicious. The service was great too. The guy was really kind and answered all of our questions. There is no parking lot so street parking is or finding a lot nearby is what you'll have to do. The inside of the shop is pretty spacious and there's also plenty of seating outside. Highly recommend checking them out if you're craving a sweet treat!

This ice cream parlor seems strongly of sewage. The ice cream tasted like heavy whipped cream then hard packed creamy ice cream. Most flavors are sold out and the ice cream cone is brittle. I'll stick to Jeni's.

The ice cream tasted amazing and they serve flavors that you normally can't find at bigger ice cream stores. I love this because it made me be adventurous and try something new! Even though only one person was working, we didn't have too wait long for service, but waited a little while for our order but was worth the wait. There were quite a few tables and it was warm enough to walk through the park next to the shop. I would recommend trying the ice cream here.

They're known for their marshmallows (made in-house and served a la flambé). I think this particular aspect of the experience fell off the wagon, because I thought they were *just* good - kinda under-toasted, more tough than melty. I ordered chai, but received some sort of lemony flavor. It was still quite good. In reality they have many gluten free options, but you have to ask for a "secret list." IMHO they could really improve the experience by listing the information publicly.

Yummmy! Hello Honey's ice cream is creamy and full of flavor. I got the B Day Dough with a toasted marshmallow on top. The marshmallow was delicious. It tasted like a homemade marshmallow, the consistency was completely different than one from a bag. The B Day Dough tasted like cake with a small amount of sprinkles and chunks of sugar cookie dough. So delicious!! If you're in downtown Cincinnati I highly recommend stopping by!

I used to frequent this location often because it's a nice walk from my place and I love the Honey Vanilla and waffle cones. The past few times I visited, the ice cream left an oily film that stayed until I brushed my teeth. It has been a few months but cannot bring myself to go back to this location. During my last visit, I sampled the Charcoal Sesame. I commented that it was good but I probably wouldn't be able to finish an entire cup of it. The woman behind the counter looked disgusted and said, "Yeah. Because it tastes like licking a Chinese wok at a Chinese restaurant." Although I am Chinese American, I have never considered licking this frequently used piece of cookware. She was very passionate about it so I will keep her comment in mind.

Really enjoyed this ice cream! The texture is nice albeit a little sticky on the roof of my mouth (maybe high fat content/not fully emulsified?). I generally prefer sticky to icy though. The flavors are all unique but in a classic way - like cookie dough but several types of dough, etc. I wish we had arrived in time to try some of their more popular flavors but they had sold out by the end of the night. It was not the best ice cream I've had this year, but I will return the next time I'm in Cincinnati!

A very quiet ice cream parlor that is just minutes away from Izzy's. We tried the brownie cream, peanut butter crunch, and mint cookies and cream. I am uncertain if it is our choices, the flavors, or the way everything was put together. Overall, we thought the three flavors weren't distinctively different from each other. This place is so awesome as far as ice cream goes in Cincinnati. I actually prefer them to Grater's and UDF. So many flavors of homemade ice cream and then the toasted marshmallow is just a kicker on top. Now, with the additions of cakes and cookies to be used as well, it is just that much better. The name of this place is right, because when you walk in through the door, you will be saying "Hello Honey" for sure. read more

So. Effing. Good. I would trade one of the Jeni's in Columbus for a Hello Honey. If you are there and see the Brown Butter Brownie, get it. Oh my stars. Also, the marshmallow. I also loved the customer service. The lady helping us was incredibly nice and willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied, without us expecting her to do so. Good product and good service? It's a keeper. read more

It is hard to say anything bad about this place. Gone a few times with the family and the handmade ice cream is flawless and presentation is perfect. The staff is probably the most friendly in all Cincy. The only issue I had was the size and limited seating. With two or three groups of people there will be no room on the place. It is destined to be a classic of Cincinnati soon. read more

Hello Honey is a great, locally-owned ice cream shop. I really enjoy their variety of flavors, and I hope they continue experiment with unusual ice cream ideas. It looks like they've recently expanded their selection of desserts too, including waffles, crepes, cakes, etc. I've been here a few times, and would probably go much more often if it wasn't for their sparse hours. I seem to always think about going later than 8 o'clock or on an off-time during the weekend. The couple who, I think, own the business are incredibly friendly and sweet, and they encourage guests to try flavors before picking them out. If you're looking for something a little different, give Hello Honey a try. I can't recall my experiences here as either outstanding or poor-I've always had a pleasant experience! read more

Hello Honey is awesome!! I got banana brittle with a toasted marshmallow on top. It was absolutely delicious! Everything is homemade and very fresh. Very friendly staff and cute interior decor. The espresso hazelnut is a dream on its own but absolute ecstacy with torched marshmallow goodness on top. It's like breaking into that crisp caramelized candy top of creme brulee to be delighted to find a puff soft white sweetness. Plus, there no risk in trying the ever-changing flavors because they let you try as many as you want before buying. read more

Randomly stopped in for some ice cream and was blown away!! The gentleman that was working there was extremely kind and gave us a rundown of the menu. Generally I go for vegan ice cream, and there's nothing in Cincinnati that beats the Thai Coconut! The sit down area probably holds 15 people. Not huge. But this is seriously an amazing place for ice cream! I absolutely recommend. It's a little off the beaten path of downtown, but only a couple blocks from OTR and WELL worth the walk. Kind people are so appreciated too, they were so sweet and that alone made my night! read more

Excellent ice cream and helpful service. One of the best shakes I've had. Ordered a chocolate banana and I've never tasted a stronger banana in a shake. The desserts are melt in your mouth and rich. We love ice cream as a family and are picky about it, this is GREAT ICE CREAM! Home-made ice cream, home-made marshmallows (which they toast while you wait and then place on top of the ice cream), home-made everything. Awesome stuff. Not to mention the owners are great, and talked with us for a half hour even though we walked in a few minutes before close. As a man, I can honestly say my favorite flavor was honey lavender, I ordered it based on the owners recommendation and hope they have it again next time. All four of our kids ate and loved the brownie and my wife enjoyed the caramel with cake chunks in it. After sampling every flavor (all of them we great) we decided we had to come back and try something different next time. read more

Hello Honey is FANTASTIC. I personally think it blows Graeters out of the water. It's more in line with the delicacies of Aglamesis' or Jenny's from Columbus. My dad has been making icecream at home since I can remember, and the flavors that come with fresh ingredients and absolutely no artificial flavoring is so much better than the processed ice creams. I sampled the Strawberry Sorbet, Brown Butter Caramel, and Pistachio. All were really yummy. The Strawberry Sorbet, which is what I like to get from Graeter's, was much fresher and tasted more like frozen strawberries than sugar. I walked away with Salted Caramel ice cream with a homemade marshmallow on top! They even torch the marshmallow to order! I think the place could use a little bit more decor to lighten the atmosphere - I'm thinking like Yagoot, something fun and colorful, kind of funky. But the flavors and customer service are right on the nose. Kudos to you for trying something daring in a city known for ice cream! Good luck with your venture, you definitely have one regular right here! read more

What the heck have I been eating all of these years from those store brand ice creams or even Graeters??!! We came in on a warm day in February after hearing so much about this. We sampled so many of their flavors: salted caramel, brown butter, banana honeycomb, cookies and pie, etc. Everything was so good and creamy. Not too solid. We ended up getting a double of salted caramel and brownies and cream on a fresh waffle cone. I emphasize the freshness. It was still warm as we were eating the ice cream and had the fantastic smell of butter. The salted caramel was pure bliss. The brownies and cream was amazing as the brownie pieces were large, delicious and still soft like they had just been mixed in. I wanted another two scoops but my fear of how much fat I was ingesting kept me from going overboard. Needless to say, if you want to go on a diet, don't come here. Pretty sure one scoop is provably 600 calories on its own but totally worth it. We will definitely coming back especially in the spring when they have more flavors available read more

One word... HUGE TOASTED MARSHMELLOW! Okay so that is actually 3 words but who cares they have HUGE TOASTED MARSHMELLOWS!. So one of the benefits of living and working downtown is that I can walk out my front door, aimlessly walk around and discover hidden little gems that seemingly pop up over night tucked away under bad/non-existant signage and homogenous and previous abandoned store fronts. I saw this place a couple of months ago but did not stop for a visit (ice cream during winter never made sense to me) but I filed in my mind as a have to try. So like a true cincinnatian as soon as the weather broke 50 i put on my flip flops and headed to Hello Honey. It was so worth the wait. The ice cream is so rich and a flavorful and the toasted homemade marshmellow is better than any cherry. I will def be back. read more

I absolutely love this place and the ice cream was to die for. We got the lava cake with sea salt caramel ice cream with the toasted marshmallow on top. That marshmallow was out of this world. Tried this the first time yesterday! Got banana chocolate chip (they were out of the toasted marshmallow). It was really good and reasonably priced! The flavors are definitely different than most other ice cream shops. The people working there were friendly and willing to explain the flavors to you, and allow you to try any flavor. The downside is the hours, we like ice cream later in the evening so the only time we could really get here to eat was on a weekend during the day. read more

Incredible and delicious. I really do not need to say more...but I will. Organic house made ice cream with "to-die-for" flavor. I had the German Chocolate Cake ice cream. Every component was evident in the flavors. Extremely knowledgeable staff made our first visit easy to navigate. I just wanted more. Portions were fine, but it was so good. read more

Hello Honey was opened by husband and wife team Brian and Nitima (Pook) Nicely in July of 2012. The result of batch after batch of ice cream experimentation in their home, this shop is the combination of their love of ice cream and desserts, and their overall love of creating things by hand.

Second, there was only one dairy-free option... a cookies and cream ice cream. While it was tasty, it was my only option and that never feels great to order something because you have to. It also didn't have a description or any info available so I was left wondering what made it nondairy... almond? Coconut? Oil? Of course at a creamy whip type place I'm not going to expect the entire menu to accommodate me, but it's nice when there are at least a couple other options- especially with coffee, it would be easy to have a nondairy milk available or a sorbet/dole whip since they already carry many flavors. I tried a tiny bite of my husband's edible cookie dough and it was delicious! Seemed really sweet though- he could barely finish his side by side because it was so sugary--a good problem to have :)) I think I would go back if I had friends with me or happened to be in the area for Blink or the pool or something, but otherwise I would probably choose somewhere else where I have more options s and I know what I'm going to spend.

They have a huge offering of all sweets and mouthwatering food that I have to prepare my wallet since I am paying for 2 very naughty kids (just kidding). I babysit my aunt's two grandkids so I had them pull me to anywhere they want. And now I just wish my neighborhood has Hello Honey. The inside is very eye-catching with all the bright colors complemented with simple decors. Seats are limited but I and the kids were able to get a spot. The boy ordered a banana honeycomb sundae with a roasted marshmallow. I do not even know how he was able to spot that but yeah. He wanted something with a big one on top. The girl, on the other hand, wanted the cookie waffle sundae. I am just praying they would not make a mess out of themselves while eating their desserts. I had to tell them otherwise, I will be the one eating what they ordered. LOL. I had a brownie sundae for myself. And we kind of ended up enjoying our time here. The kids did not make a mess but the staff is kind enough to give us some tissues in case things went south. Honestly, I thought they would not finish their desserts but I am very glad they did.
