I will support. DO: -Fresh waffles topped with ice cream DON'T: -N/A PARKING: -Street parking The price is good for the amount of ice cream you get. I would recommend getting the fresh waffle topped with ice cream. The ice cream was a bit too sweet and icy for my likings. But, I really hope this place stays in business for a long time and evolve into a 5 star joint. I'm thinking more on the 3.5 star end, but I will round up for encouragement. Hello Honey is one of the best hidden treasures of Cincinnati. Everything is made in house, from the ice cream to the cones and marshmallows. Speaking of, don't miss out on getting a marshmallow topping! They're divine. My favorite is the honey lavender in a waffle cone! read more

This ice cream shop is absolutely delightful! Homemade ice creams in creative but very natural and palatable flavors, homemade waffle cones, and based on my experience with those items, I'm sure everything else is delectable as well. Also, they strongly encourage you to taste ice cream flavors, which is wonderful for those of us who are decision-challenged. I know my way around the boutique ice cream scene in San Francisco. (Yes, there is such a scene, and it's absurd and wonderful at the same time.) If this place were in SF, there would be a line down the block waiting for their ice cream. And the ice cream would be twice as expensive; I was shocked by how inexpensive our waffle cones heaped with ice cream were! In brief: go here! read more

During my weekend visit in Cincinnati, my friends and I frequented Hello Honey twice. We are a fan of their ice cream and desserts. The store is so cute and the owner is really friendly and personable. The owner keeps up with what's trending in the ice cream industry as I overheard her talking to a regular customer. There is several parking areas around Hello Honey. I think there was a parking deck next to it. Flavors do change and alter each week, They do have very interesting and smart concepts/concoctions to ice cream flavors that my friends loved. I tend to like more of the basic flavors like Vanilla and Chocolate. The flavors that I was able to try: - Lavender Honey: interesting flavor and it definitely tastes like lavender. It was good and I think it's one of the popular flavors from the menu. - Vanilla Honey: this was my all-time favorite flavor. It was a twist to the traditional vanilla flavor. I ordered this both times I was at Hello Honey. Pricing is under $10 for each item. I think it's $5 for one scoop of ice cream and $6 for two scoops. Of course I went for the two scoops. The scoops are very generous so one scoop is more than enough. Overall, I wish there was a Hello Honey in Georgia. We really liked our experience at Hello Honey. read more

I can't believe I didn't hear about this place until now! I was drawn to this place by pictures of toasted marshmallows on Yelp Cincy's Instagram page and decided to give it a try. It seems I have been passing by for months and missing out! They have so many yummy desserts I want to try, and they have a ton of unique flavors as well. I had the honey toast with blackberry cheesecake ice cream and a toasted marshmallow. It was fantastic! The honey toast was like a pound cake and it went very well with the ice cream and marshmallow. It tasted as delicious as it looked. My sister and I shared the dessert and they were nice enough to throw in an extra toasted marshmallow for us. Hello Honey makes me happy :) I can't wait to go back and try their cakes and crepes! read more

I had the pleasure of visiting Hello Honey recently with a friend of mine. We went mid-afternoon and I was delighted to see how well the owners had redesigned the interior. It was very welcoming, minimalistic, and had bright, cheerful colors. The menu is designed well and easy to read. The owners are ADORABLE and very friendly. I felt welcomed. I tried the vanilla and it was delicious! Hello Honey's ice cream was smooth and creamy, it held shape, and was reasonably priced. I also had the salted caramel and wow! It was FANTASTIC! My trip to try Hello Honey was an hour drive and I'd gladly make the trip again. read more

I've written about the wealth of great frozen treats in Cincinnati, and for me, Hello Honey rules them all. It's a very tight race, and maybe it's my love for the underdog, but I adore Hello Honey. As others have mentioned, it's run by a fantastic husband and wife team who is very happy to sit there as you ask them endless questions about flavors. Highlights include the toasted marshmallow, which I can't recommend highly enough (they seriously put marshmallow on your ice cream then torch it with a pastry torch. Awesome.) Though I haven't had it, I've seen them make fresh waffle cones, too, as in pour batter into a waffle iron, cook it, and make it a cone. How is that not incredible? The flavors change regularly, and are all delicious, though as Samantha mentioned some are a bit less remarkable than others (go for a unique flavor rather than a regular flavor with unique things.) My personal favorites are the flavors sweetened by molasses, as it has a very unique flavor. Which segues into the biggest point - from what I understand the name comes from them actually sweetening their ice cream with honey. Amazing! The hours aren't the best if you don't work Downtown. It's a small operation, so they can't keep the convenient hours of the Fountain Square Graeter's. What they can do, however, is offer more unique, interesting flavors, extremely high quality ice cream, and a very personal touch. Love this place. read more

Um, yes please. This cute little ice cream shop boasts of all natural, fresh, ingredients. The flavors range from more unconventional (lavender vanilla) to good ole chocolate. I tried the salty caramel and blood orange. Both were delicious. The part that really will make the package complete is the toasted marshmallow on top. Do it. They will put a healthy chunk of marshmallow on top of your scoops and toast with a blow torch. It's pretty fantastic. Good size servings for the price, too. Also available but I did not try: crepes, cakes, waffles. Next time! read more

It's hot out today. Sweet lady behind the counter talks me into an éclair. Not really an éclair person. It was good. Pastry chef good. Chilled, with delicious custard filling. Real chocolate on top. Surprisingly refreshing. For dessert I had a raspberry lavender chocolate chip cone. I was trying to decide if it needed more lavender or more raspberry.... But then it was gone. House made waffle cone was perfect. Nice crunch. Not too sweet. If i had room for a second dessert, I would have tried the Green Tea cake. The ice cream cone was about $3.75, but a large serving. You locals need to keep this place in business. read more

I can't believe I'm just now reviewing this place! Over the past several years, I have been to this small ice cream shop, tucked away on Vine Street. The service is always superb; the shop is owned and run by a couple who are more than willing to let you sample any and all of the flavors. My ultimate favorite is the brown butter caramel. But there's always a variety of flavors for everyone's palette. The ice cream always tastes fresh and leaves me almost licking the bowl. You must try it at least once with the toasted marshmallow on top! read more

If you are wanting THE ABSOLUTE BEST hot chocolate, this is the place! I have just discovered Hello Honey, and hands down the best I've ever had!! I walk past it on the way to work, so I stopped in and ordered the dark chocolate version (they offer milk chocolate as well) with their signature homemade marshmallow that they torch to get a roasted marshmallow smokiness and crunch. Amazing. Very thick and rich. They froth the milk and make it from scratch. No mixes here. It tastes like liquid fine chocolate. And their specialty is unusual ice-cream flavors like lavender honey. But they also have cookies, brownies and cheesecake. Because all is custom-made, items are priced a bit higher than some -- $4.95 + $1 for the marshmallow. But it's not crazy, and perfect for a special treat like when you are downtown at the Aronoff or Fountain Square (a block from either one). The staff are very accommodating as well. Try it! You won't be disappointed. read more

Heaven? Nirvana? Paradise? The promised land? There are no words to capture the beauty of this place. If you have ever liked anything made of dairy and even made eye contact with a cow, you should go to this place. This ice cream is made in small batches from organic milk and amazing flavours. The cones and waffle bowls are baked FRESH when you order and of course you absolutely must get the marshmallow (made in house) torched. Don't walk there, run!!! Because once a flavor is gone, it usually takes a while to come back around ( check the blackboard for current flavors). Feel free to say hi to me, I'm always there ... getting more ice cream. read more

This is probably my favorite ice cream/hot chocolate/coffee stop in cincy, just a couple blocks from fountain square! Their ice cream is amazing and everything is baked to order. My favorite is the brownie time sundae-- it's soooooo good!! Everything tastes good because it's homemade and they have a great variety of flavors. During the winter the hot chocolate is super good too (pictured)!!! I would still get ice cream when it good, though (it's that good!). The workers are always super friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend for anyone in cincy!!! read more

Hmm~ I hate to be the downer among so many good reviews... Maybe it was because my husband and I came mid-day on a Tuesday, before their new tubs of ice cream were being brought out. When we went, the owner was really friendly and offered us multiple times to try different flavors which was really nice but every time she opened the tubs of ice cream there was barely any ice cream left...Maybe enough for two scoops of ice cream in each! I just felt like the store didn't care to keep their flavors stocked up... And that we weren't getting fresh ice cream. This part was not too bad, because if I were to give them the absolute benefit of the doubt maybe their ice cream is just SO good that they're never stocked up! But regardless it started my experience on the wrong foot. My husband, sister, and I shared a matcha green tea cake with a scoop of Guinness chocolate ice cream and I got a lemon meringue pie ice cream with their famous toasted marshmallow. Here's where my second disappointment came in... Our marshmallow was really small and granule-ey!!! The toasted part of the marshmallow was like biting a thick layer of crusted sugar. And parts of the marshmallow was melted and oosey but there were parts of the marshmallow that was not melted and again granule-ey!!!! I really don't know how to explain it other than by saying the marshmallow didn't have that puffy airy consistency all the way through... Parts of it seemed like it was a corner piece and the sugar hadn't melted or cooked enough in the cooking process. She brought out the cake warm but because the place was so quiet we could hear her opening and closing the microwave to heat it up for us from the back... I think from watching kitchen nightmares I just don't like hearing and noticing that food service places have microwaves. The cake was blah, but the two ice cream flavors were really fun and delicious. The ice cream itself was good, but I was disappointed in my experience as a whole and in feeling like the toasted marshmallow was too much of a gimmick. I want to go back and give this place another shot though because I hear their ice cream flavors are always changing, maybe my experience will be better next time! Ps: the place is also located in the heart of downtown so it's really hard to find parking. We ended up just paying at one of the nearby parking structures. read more

This was really unexpected and amazing. Walking in I knew I'd made a good choice. It's worth a visit for the smells. Plan on taking time to order a fresh baked dessert. The special of the day was peach bread pudding ala mode and the sign said "please allow 15 min to bake to order." I didn't have time to wait. Ran in and got the brown butter Carmel ice cream with a toasted homemade marshmallow on top. it went beyond expectations. read more

I don't even like ice cream that much, but I love Hello Honey on so many different levels. FLAVORS. Unlike ice cream shops that experiment with wacky flavors (sweet corn, anyone?), Hello Honey does a great job with flavors that most of us can enjoy e.g. cinnamon, Dutch chocolate, salted caramel, while throwing in a few cool ones that aren't completely out of the realm of flavor possibilities: brown sugar caramel, chardonnay, and Thai milk tea. They switch up the flavors daily/weekly, so it's a constant surprise when you step into the shop. DESSERTS. They can torch a marshmallow to add on top of your ice cream--DO IT. I've heard great things about their waffle cones, which they make fresh in-house. It is difficult for me to leave without getting a slice of the green tea cake to-go. Even though it's not the best I've ever had (have had some ridiculously good ones), it's an eye-catcher and deliciously light (or so I think). They also offer lava cake and Honey Toast, which I've yet to try! SERVICE. The Asian lady behind the counter is SO sweet and will let you try as many flavors as you want. Small space, but plenty of tables and bar stools for you to sit and dig in. read more

Good, and gets better the more you eat it. I would say it reminds me of cold stone...but this place is better.

This ice cream shop opened up near our office building just recently, so a coworker and I took the opportunity to go and try their wares during our lunch break. The owner makes all of the ice cream in the store, so its very fresh. They offer a wide variety of flavors, including the normal "boring" ones. We agreed to split (it's definitely big enough to split) the honey toast (which takes 10 minutes to prepare) with the butter caramel cake ice cream. Unfortunately, we didn't plan enough time to eat in the store and had to request the item to go at the last minute, which apparently isn't recommended for the honey toast and the owner had reservations about serving it in this manner. She eventually put it in a box for us, and we ran out the door. We stopped briefly to taste our purchase and were more than pleased - the toast is warm, crunchy and buttery, and the ice cream matched it perfectly. I definitely hope to return and try some more of their flavors! EDIT 1/2/2013: Hello Honey is now one of my favorite locations in Cincinnati. I try to go in almost every day I'm downtown, and can't wait to try the new flavors every week. The absolute must have item with any ice cream you get is the toasted marshmallow. The marshmallows are homemade and will change everything you know about the sticky treat (I refuse to eat the ones from the store now). The fact that they're toasted in front of you with a blowtorch doesn't hurt either. New items are being added to the menu all the time as well, so don't be afraid to try something new. I haven't had a bad trip yet! read more

I love walking around downtown around lunchtime on a nice day. I don't work downtown but whenever I get to come downtown for lunch, I make sure to stop by Hello Honey for dessert! The owner is a sweet little lady named Pook. She will let you sample anything before you buy it! She told me the salted caramel was her favorite but she warned that it was very salty. She was right! But I ordered one and ate the whole thing and it was delicious. Great location and cute little shop. I will be coming to Hello Honey much more often to cool off from the 80 degree weather! read more

I love ice cream. I love it in all of it's various and related forms: ice cream, frozen yogurt, gelato, even a refreshing sorbet on occasion (but sherbet? please!). Hello Honey takes the classic ice cream form and elevates it with creative flavor twists for a decidedly delicious take on a standard. Flavors are posted on a giant blackboard and at least some rotate on a regular basis. The person who took me was talking up the virtues of the bourbon ice cream (it wasn't a hard sell), but unfortunately they only have that on Thursdays and Fridays. Instead, I went with a scoop of Nutella ice cream and it was indeed the ice cream doppelganger of everybody's favorite chocolate-hazelnut spread. There are fun extras like a giant homemade marshmallow blow-torched on top of your scoop in front of your eyes or a freshly-made waffle bowl. If you want to know the rotating flavors before you go, they are posted on Hello Honey's Facebook page. Prices are reasonable for the quality and scoop size (1 scoop is $3.50 and 2 scoops are $5), but with all the awesome flavor options, it would be nice to be able to get 2 flavors within the 1 scoop size and price (and maybe they would, I think I'll ask next time!). read more

No joke, the best ice cream in Cincinnati. Don't expect typical flavors, but instead, enjoy wonderful combinations such as brown butter caramel, cookies and pie, and honey lavender. The waffle cones are a must have. They actually make them to order in the back. They will also toast a homemade marshmallow with a butane torch directly on top of the ice cream. Yes, please! Be warned if there is a crowd, it could take a few minutes, but WELL worth the wait! read more

Pretty disappointing. They have really cool extravagant deserts BUT only available on the weekend. Unfortunately we're from out of town and were there on a Wednesday. Had I known that I wouldn't have bothered to go. The ice cream had freezer burn on it, and the staff was mildly rude. They guy helping us was nice and helpful, but the other two (one was the owner I believe) seemed bothered that we were there. The seating area was cute. Bathroom was messy, considering they weren't busy, it doesn't seem appropriate. If you're going on a weekend it's probably worth it, but otherwise don't bother. read more

I am a life long lover of ice cream. My mom has always joked that when I was born I was made 50% of soft serve and I guess it stuck. That said, ALL OTHER ICECREAM IS RAW SEWAGE compared to Hello Honey! You need to try this stuff if you haven't. Yes, their hours make it a challenge of you don't live directly in the city but make a special trip if you have to! The hand made marshmallows are one of the best deserts I have ever had and to put it atop this fresh and inspired ice cream makes a perfect paring. I would give them a dozen stars if I could. This joint is our new Saturday ritual. read more

This is probably the best ice cream I've ever had. It definitely trumps Graeter's. It's sooooo creamy, like gelato! I couldn't get over how creamy it was. I got the brownies and cream ice cream with a torched marshmallow on top (of course!), and it was amazing. The bits of brownie actually tasted like good, fudgy, homemade brownies! None of those cardboard-tasting, flavorless brownie chunks you get in most "brownie" ice cream. I was SUPER impressed. My boyfriend's brown butter caramel ice cream was just as good! I could eat this ice cream every day. I know the hours are weird, but seriously, you have to try it! It's worth the special trip. read more

Nutella Icecream and a fresh roasted marshmallow?! yes please! I loved that all of the ice-cream is made there and it was absolutely delicious. I prefer fresh marshmallows so HH was right up my alley! The service and decor were right on point! It reminded me of my trips to sweet shops and bakeries in Asia. The only think I didn't enjoy was the green tea chocolate cake. I am a bit of matcha purist and I think chocolate ruins and overpowers that flavor. The chocolate cake and matcha mousse were not a pairing that I enjoyed so I ended up scooping the mousse out and I enjoyed it thoroughly! The menu is also developing and absolutely delicious combos are available so everyone can try a little bit of everything! read more

Last week I had the day off and wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather. I was craving a fresh scoop and ventured downtown to try hello honey. I ended up parking a few blocks away (parking is crazy during the week!!) but wasn't too bothered because of the gorgeous weather. The spot is incredibly adorable- fits about 15-20 people with plenty of seating space. At that hour (2 PM on a Tuesday afternoon), it wasn't too busy at all. There were so many interesting flavors to choose from - espresso nut brittle, honey vanilla, brown butter caramel, and a fresh strawberry sorbet. I ordered the espresso brittle with the toasted caramel (pictured here). I was so impressed with the quality of the ice cream and rich flavors. I could tell the marshmallow was made in house and it was toasted to perfection. As if this couldn't get better, I also got the waffle cone. The cone was warm, freshly made and perfectly paired with the coolness of the ice cream. This is one of the best ice cream desserts I've had in cincinnati, hands down. I'd love to come back and try out other flavors! I'm happy to give this place 5 stars, just wish it was a bit easier to access during the day, and the location had later hours. read more

I'll give it a 4.5, but I'm feeling generous so I'll round up. The atmosphere is quite bland, but the ice cream is some of the best I've ever had.
