Usually go for breakfast which is always great. But this afternoon my husband and I stopped in for dinner. My choice Razor Clams and my husband ordered Pork Weinershnitzel. The Schnitzel was a large flat slab that was so tough you could not cut it with a table knife so we asked for a steak knife. It still was too tough for a steak knife. We informed the waitress and she talked to the manager and the final result was the cook said the meat had been tough lately. End of story. There was no offer to not charge us partially or fully. We had a close to $45.00 tab which we paid without further discussion. Our final conclusion is that we will no longer patronize Heidi's which I am sure is no big deal for them . The place has many different types of meals, if you are craving german food to spanish food you'll find it. There is something for anyone, seafood to beef. Never order breakfast at dinner time, mainly I feel that the chef that made it didnt know how to make a hash brown but I get it im not a good cook. My husband's grandmother used to take us here nearly 15 years ago on a regular basis, I didn't mind coming, but we never just went on our own. Sometimes I would bring my dad when he came out for a visit because he loves this type of diner type of food. The last time I realized I had taken him was in 2005, so suddenly they were back on the radar just to mix things up. Even though it had been almost ten years (trust me they flew by and I want those ten years back!) it was like we had just eaten there last week. Nothing had changed, NOTHING.. the little gift shop still had the same stuff, same everything. Something was nice about that for some reason. The menu was pretty much the same. We weren't eating hot wings ten years ago, so that shows we have evolved. Now they were on the menu and we started with those. They are pretty good, but you get 7 in an order for around $10 and that is kind of steep. Since July 2015 we have been in a handful of times with various members of the family, and the service is always good, but the food can be a little hit and miss. They have great specials if you can get in there Monday-Thursday after 4 pm, most run around $12-13 and include appetizer, entree and dessert. My husband did the salmon the other night and it came with loaded mashed potatoes. He didn't believe me when I told him it would be cheese, onion and bacon, but it was. The salmon was a decent portion size and the potatoes looked like half the plate. They don't give you a veggie side here, which I kinda don't like that about them. We got KPTV's deal of the day so it was $15 for $30 and that makes it more reasonable. Otherwise there were times just the two of us left with a $50 tab and that wasn't dessert, just wing starters. The turkey is roasted in house and the first time I had it, I swear the dressing was stove top dressing. It wasn't bad, but I haven't ordered it again. I do like the Boca burgers and the fried chicken is something I try to avoid but there are those times I feel I really need to eat it. They pressure cook theirs and my first order a few months back had zero seasoning. ZERO, But as a note, Sayler's steakhouse did the same thing a couple years ago, so it happens everywhere. This time I felt brave and ordered it again with a bakes potato. The chicken was really good, and I was thinking I need to make sure it didn't become a habit now that I know it could be this good. Not too bad for a change. I do like them better than Elmer's up the street, but I think my husband might like Elmer's better, so give them a shot if you are looking for a different place in Gresham to eat. read more

Well, considering he was only given one pancake to replace the two that came with his order, I was not satisfied. I also had to argue with the manager in order to get a refund for just his portion of the meal. Are you kidding me? I worked in food service. When a customer has a complaint you replace the meal in its entirety and then give them something for the trouble... like a discount for example. I have been to Heidi's many times, The restaurant is a family oriented environment with great specials. My self I'm a breakfast guy, and would not pass the opportunity to eat in this restaurant or even in the lounge. Oh the lounge, the lounge has a special that they run everyday that is the bomb. "The Sportsman" A large cheese burger with all the fix-ens on a hoagie bun with fries, soup and a Beer for around $11. Comparable to breakfast at Denny's. Nothing out of the ordinary just ok. I'd say it is a bit more pricey than the chain breakfast restaurants and about the same amount of food. I did however, expect a longer wait as the parking lot was full but was surprised to see how big the restaurant was inside which made our wait very short. As you walk in there is a display with pies, cakes and other delicacies. We decided to take our dessert to go. Chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon rolls was what we ended up taking. I stopped bu Heidi's because of the amazing outdoor decor. It just looked like a little Swedish farm mountain home in the middle of a business district. Which is what I'm sure they were going for :P Once in side it felt like a tourist destination with the gift shop and serving staff in Flowery light colored dresses. For a moment I thought I was at the Sound of Music eatery at some amusement park. It was delightful. Everyone there seemed to actually to be happy about working there and they all had a smile on their face. Now I gave them 3 stars for one main reason. $9 for a meatloaf sandwich is a great price if it comes on something other then store bought white bread with still cold cheese (that I had to pay extra for) and luke warm meatloaf. Tasted great for what it was. Meatloaf had flavor, albeit not very much, and the lettuce seemed very fresh. The meal came with the soup of the day (Calm Chowder) Which was made fresh. I know this because I happily waited an extra 5 min (Oh NO 5 min!!) for the soup. I recommend the soup. Just the right amount of creamy texture and salty goodness. Honestly I think my order might have been a fluke. Judging from the fact that on a Friday morning at 10am and it was packed I think I should have gone with a breakfast option instead., but the menu didn't specify any certain lunch, dinner, or breakfast times. Boyfriend and I live down the road and have been here twice now- lunch the first time and breakfast/brunch the second. Lunch I remember being expensive for what was ordered. I had spaghetti with meat sauce which would be a $3 meal at home. It was like 10 or 11 dollars. Good, but not great for the price. I must have been craving it that day. However breakfast was great! We ordered waaay too much food. We both got eggs Benedict, and peach crepes to split. I didn't realize the crepes were so huge. Everything was delicious and we took most of the crepes home to snack on later. Not too sweet, they were perfect. Also the servers are always extremely nice and accommodating. Chicken was average, nothing notable. The brats looked fantastic looking but had little flavor, warm potato salad was good. Service was good and people were very friendly. I go to Heidi's for one thing, happy hour. After 8 they have cheap beers and decent snacks. The one time I have had dinner there I got the BLT and it was pretty good. The bacon was crispy and the bread was toasted, just like a BLT should be. The happy hour menu has a number of things to choose from. Their nacho is good and even though it says it is for one person, it is enough for two. The servers are friendly, but sometimes you need to get their attention to get a refill. If you just want a place to get a cheap beer and watch some sports, Heidi's is the place to go. read more

Heidi's has all the trappings of what you would think would be a German restaurant. It's got that gasthaus look from the outside, the hostesses all dolled up in dirndles, loads of totchkes that only a granny could love - then you look over the menu. It's basically diner food with a couple German dishes thrown in. The food was good - I had the weinerschnitzel, which was tender and crispy, but I would have liked a sauerbraten or a roulade to choose from. I can get a burger anywhere. I've eaten here a couple of times and I can sum it up by saying, great food, bad coffee. The french toast a l'orange is absolutely my favorite and would go well with a really good cup of coffee. But unfortunately coffee is extremely weak. The times I've been I keep trying the coffee, hoping that they'll make it stronger, but every time I'm disappointed. So please make your coffee stronger. Great service, warm and inviting atmosphere, food is good and hasn't changed in years. Whether I want breakfast for breakfast, or breakfast for dinner - this place is a nice go-to. Bacon has always been prepared as requested, eggs as well, and the prices are just fine. My only qualm is that I have ordered a sausage crumble omelette on numerous occasions, and have been charged 3 very different prices for it ranging from $7.50 to as much as $11.50. Food was great, I tried the Orange French toast, the bread was dipped in an egg/milk mix with orange added, then coated with crunched up corn flakes ...served sprinkled with powdered sugar and orange maple syrup...yumm! My friend had the regular French toast and it looked pretty great too! The guys had the typical eggs/bacon/hash brown breakfasts and I have to say their plates looked licked clean! But by far the best part of breakfast was Kendra the waitress! She is the kind of waitress you hope for at every restaurant....she remembered everything, was friendly, funny and truly efficient! When I come to Gresham, I ALWAYS plan to enjoy a meal at Heidi's! One of the best items on their wonderful menu is the razor clams! Razor clams are a unique clam and there are very few places on the planet where you can get it. Heidi's always carries them and cooks them PERFECTLY every time! They are the sweetest, most delicious clams anywhere and the chef at Heidi's prepares them with great care so they are not stiff or rubbery as they can be if they are not done right. Quantity is a-plenty, I've never left this place hungry! The staff is always friendly, despite the fact that the ladies are forced to wear RIDICULOUS costume for work. That would put me in a foul mood, but they all embrace it with ease.
