Stopped here for dinner Sept 2, 2020. We arrived late, about 20 min to closing and they graciously seated us. I noticed they had already started cleaning up for the night and being that we were tired, I requested the food to go. The staff is very pleasant and they even gave us some cake with our dinner. Food is excellent here, and I would have given 5 stars except the servers need further guidance. Servers should inform a customer that there is an up charge instead of surprising us when presenting the bill. It should be my choice to decline or accept having something added to my meal once I know there is an additional charge. I ordered a baked potato as my side included with my dinner choice, and my server asked if I wanted it loaded. Since most bakers come with toppings it would never occur to me to ask if there is an up charge. I found out when the bill added an additional $1.50. I would not have ordered it loaded had I known there was an up charge. That should always be left up to the paying customer to decide, not the server. read more

Went here for breakfast with my girlfriend, who told me she will go here a couple of times a month. It's very kitschy. That was my first impression. German influenced decor, a gift shop in the lobby, and a waterwheel thingie outside. I initially thought it was part of the Pony Soldier hotel, but it was not....it's just very nearby. Then when walking through, I was afraid I would get mobbed and kicked out for not meeting the age limit. Granted, it was 11 o'clock on a Friday, but the median age was 93, I think. Ha! I just thought it was funny, but this place definitely caters to the senior citizen set who want a place to relax that's quiet, has free refills on the coffee, with a pleasant environment. And I'm all for that. I'm also for the fact that they seem to run some pretty darn good specials. I got two pancakes, bacon, and eggs on the cheap, thanks to the special I saw on the sign outside. My girl got eggs, toast, and hash browns, also on special. The pancakes were pretty good, nice and light. The bacon was crisp and well done, and the eggs were as eggs should be. The price was good, the service was extremely friendly and quick (and they all wear little traditional-looking German frock dresses!), and the food was good. This place was larger inside than I expected with quaint themed decorations and uniforms for the wait staff. Everyone was very friendly and sincere - smiles all around. I ordered the French Toast ala Orange, it was pretty good. Cooked to perfection so as not to be overdone or undercooked. Tomato was not ripe, spinach wilted, avocado was not ripe and fruit was moldy. Very disappointing experience will not be coming back. This is an older diner-style restaurant with typical diner fare and a few German dishes. I didn't think the German sausage dinner was anything particularly special, but it was reasonably-priced for the portions. The service was very attentive. I also really like how they have remote electronic device that allowed me to pay at the table without my credit card ever leaving my sight. We used to come here alot, but we will NEVER step foot in this restaurant again. We ordered breakfast online, it said it would be 10 to 15 minutes and it would be ready. We waited 20 just to make sure, and called them to see if it was ready we were put on hold for 10 minutes, and finally someone came back and said it would be another 25 to 30 minutes. (For clarification the order was just two orders of pancakes ). My husband very politly asked for a refund since this would have been over an hour, again he is placed on hold. The person comes back and says the manager will not come to the phone right now, but will call back "sometime" to issue the refund. Kind of sounds like a lazy person not wanting to do their job, and a thief!! We are now in the process of waiting for the charge to post so we can dispute it. This place was really good. I haven't been here in years and we had family in town so decided to go here and enjoy a nice breakfast. You will not leave here hungry. We got here at 10 am and no one in our group wanted to eat till after 4pm. I took a bite of the crab omlette. That was amazing. You could tell the crab was fresh. I had the Heidi's omlette. With gluten free toast and hashbrowns. Amazing. They have a great kids menu. Great gift shop and bakery. Everyone was very happy with their food Only complaint. Went here for brunch. I had the crab Benedict. It was terrible. The eggs were overcooked. The spinach looked like it had set on the counter for hours. Not chopped, and not remotely fresh. My wife ordered their crab sandwich. It was supposed to come open face with asparagus and hollandaise sauce. Showed up with no asparagus. When asked, we were told they were out. No communication, no replacement with anything else. Just sent it out with nothing...hoping we wouldn't notice? The fruit bowl was nasty looking. I had a Pico de Gallo salad made by a fabulous cook.... Raul. It was so delicious! It had shredded lettuce,cheese, avocado, grilled chicken and of course pico de gallo sauce. They served it with ranch dressing and, if you want, salsa! It was TASTY I highly recommend it! Heidis has an extensive salad menu.... I bet they have 15-20 different salad choices. There's something for everyone. You can order breakfast at anytime too . That's cool .....I love eating here, pretty good service too ! This was a great brunch for us. I usually don't do reviews but I was really upset after having a late lunch with some friends. We had a new waiter that was learning the ropes and as he was taking our order I mentioned that I wanted a kids cheeseburger for my adult disabled daughter. Immediately this waitress appears and rudely jumps in and says that we cannot order that. I told her that the last 5 or 6 times I have been there with my daughter, we were allowed to get the kids cheeseburger. She again was very insistant and rude saying that was not possible. I explained that my daughter wouldn't even eat 1/2 of a child's burger so it would be a waste of money for me to have to order her an adult burger. She sent someone over to our table who basically said the same thing. How much would it have hurt Heidi's profits to give us a kids burger? Bottom line, we won't be going back any time soon. Walking through the doors at Heidi's transported me back to another time, a time where corporate restaurants were few and far between, and locally owned restaurants that served homemade food was the norm. Last Saturday was my first time visiting Heidi's, but it felt like the places my grandparents took me in the 1970's. Everyone on staff was more than pleasant. There was a huge selection on the menu. I ordered the razor clams and eggs, while my wife ordered the pigs in a blanket. My clams were done to perfection! If you want decent service and food that's always predictably "ok", then this is the place to go. It's not that the food is fast... it's just always a touch bland and pre-made; it shows but it's not enough to never come. I recommend it for large family or mixed group gatherings because there is a bit of everything for even the pickiest eaters, and the atmosphere is group friendly. With COVID a part of our daily lives, I've taken the opportunity to order food from all our local spots to support them and protect us while still enjoying the wonderful eateries. So I've been waiting for Heidi's to open for indoor dining for a bit of time now. The food is good, and the portions are a fair size for the price. I have been here 3 times in the past few weeks since indoor seating has been open and I thought it was only fair to share my experiences. The wait staff has been super friendly and followed up with orders and made sure we were ok a number of times throughout our meal. Thank you! The food - one visit I had the Turkey dinner and it was good, but the dressing tastes more like stove top stuffing. The Turkey was think (not like lunch meat for a sandwich) and I do like the mashed potatoes. Was it the best Turkey dinner I've had at a restaurant? No, it was about an 8 out of a 10. On my second visit I decided to try the Rubin and a cup of French Onion soup. The Rubin was good and the French Onion soup was hot with a good amount of onions and melted cheese. Again, I would rate both of these an 8 out of 10. On my third visit, I had a burger and Onion rings. The Onion rings were a bit oily, but tasty. The Burger was nothing too memorable either good or bad. I haven't tried the desserts that Tempt Merrimack their glowing display case right at the entrance. I'm usually full by the end of my meal here and can't eat another bite. I love the spacing they have in the restaurant for Social distancing and I'm so happy to support a local business. An interesting note on one of my visits the Women's room was shut down and everyone uses the men's room. They have installed a lock on the door so it is a single use bathroom now. Again, the staff here are super nice and frankly if you are looking for Comfort, Heidi's dishes that up in style. read more

Super disappointing. I have wanted to go to Heidi's for quite some time and expected so much better. I have been craving a good Reuben sandwich and thought this would be the place to get one. I picked it up and couldn't believe how light the bag was. I already knew I would be disappointed since I had just paid $13 for it.
