I think I will try the creamy poke sauce next time, so the fish and other flavors aren't as subdued by the heat. Eating a little slower and the spices are really nice, so hard to go that wrong. I think the place deserves a few in store visits to get a good sense of the toppings and dressings. To me the price is great. Would be a huge effort and expense to make at home. Good poke! I really enjoyed my Hawaiian Poke bowl! I ordered a large bowl (4 protein toppings) and loaded it up with mix-ins and toppings. I was pleasantly surprised as the servers piled on the fish and toppings into my bowls. Their poke sauce was really good! It has a nice garlicky flavor and was actually very refreshing. I would have liked a bit more avocado instead of a tiny scoop but it did thankfully taste pretty fresh. I really enjoyed their crab meat - it wasn't dry and had a nice flavor to it. I would say though that the fish scoops themselves were almost jarringly cold. Although they were not frozen, the temperature was very close (which is only a mild complaint since I'd rather not have hot raw fish). The prices of the bowls are relative to other poke spots but a much better value considering the huge portions! The Hawaiian Poke restaurant itself is very clean with a modern look. There is seating both inside and outside which was nice. The server was friendly, but as I told her what I would like in the two bowls I ordered, she kept cutting me off. I was requested the ingredients in order as I saw them walking down the line, but she would cut me off as I listed the ingredients. I was actually saying them really slow so she had time to put them into the bowl without getting overwhelmed, and I was in no way rushing her. The ordering experience was a bit difficult since the list of menu items is far from where the employee was constructing the bowl, leaving me to just list what I saw behind the counter. I would have much preferred a self-order kiosk or a paper fill-out station that could be handed to the server. Since she kept stopping me during my order, I gave up and didn't select all of the toppings I wished to include. But overall, I did enjoy my experience and would go back (and instead order online). read more

This is my go-to poke spot. I've never written a review before as I've been going here for nearly the last decade since I was a kid. The portions are always huge, they offer free avocado, miso soup, and ice cream. They have a ton of variety and the food is always fresh and tasty. I love all of the options offered and the price tag has always been worth it for the amount of food you're getting. They also have rewards and those add up quick, building up to a free bowl. The service is always friendly, I've noticed the last couple of years the workers have been more younger/teenagers. The inside has always been very clean and they have free water cups as well. A nice bathroom and decent seating inside and out if you'd like to dine in. I visited Hawaiian Poke 7/18 at around 4:45pm. There was no one there except staff. I won't say I was greeted because I WAS NOT!!! There was an Asian male who approached to take my order. I asked for a medium bowl with half sushi rice, half brown rice. Before he was even done placing the rice he was already asking if I wanted spicy crab or regular crab. That was a little off considering I was the only customer there, so there wasn't a reason for him to moving as fast as he was. As he continues I tell him what protein, toppings etc. He was very short while preparing my bowl but I ignored it. That was until I asked for avocado and the dude literally placed half an avocado on my bowl. It was very awkward because they've never given me half an avocado. It was at that moment that I began to feel an uncomfortable. He tossed the avocado on top of the bowl with such aggression. At that point I asked him if he was going to cut it. He looked at me and asked was it too much. I replied by telling him not to worry about it. I continue requesting toppings and asked what the seasoning was in the display window. He replied with an answer and I followed asking what the ingredients were. He simply shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know. And now I'm even more uncomfortable. He placed the final toppings on my bowl and pushed it towards me. When I asked for extra sauces he seemed even more annoyed and again I ignored. Since miso soup is included with the poke I asked for a cup. As he was getting the soup I glance down and see a container with wasabi near the register. I asked if the wasabi was for me and he replied "sure you can have it". He placed the miso soup on the counter along my bowl, the ginger and extra sauces that I requested. So now I'm standing like what the he double hockey sticks. I asked for a bag and he attempted handing it to me. "You're not going to bag it for me? He looks at me like I asked for his first born son. I proceed to tell him "this is a place of business shouldn't put my items in the bag for me?" His reply "just take it and go"!!!! Now I'm pissed because not only had been rude during this whole transaction I was still pleasant towards him. I tell him I don't want the order, give me my money back and to go get the manager. This guy tells me he's the manager and walked to the back. I was in utter disbelief. One of the girls who was sitting in the corner table that previous reviews mentioned comes behind the counter and apologizes as she's preparing my refund. I told not to apologize for his nasty behavior. She continued to apologize and simply told her to stop and that it was not her fault that her manager was complete douche. She gave my money back and I made her give me the three tip that I'd placed in the tip jar. Now imagine receiving terrible service and still leaving a tip. Crazy right? Girl gives me my refund and tip and asks if I wanted the food. I politely told he NO. I will never return here!!!!! This place is HORRIBLE!!!!! I literally left in tears for how I was treated. This is my favorite poke place for years now, and the quality of the fish and ingredients is always super fresh and yummy. i love that they offer avocado for free, and occasionally, miso soup for free as well. I've always had a pleasant experience ordering here in the past, however, in the past couple of months I noticed the quality of customer service has decreased heavily. I think in the last 4 times I've come here, although the food is great, the service has always rubbed me the wrong way. One time, there was a massive long hair in the middle of my bowl which was completely gross. So long that the strand broke as I tried to pull it out...Another time, I asked for my base to be half rice, half chips but for the chips to be on the side, the girl that served me literally rolled her eyes right in my face. Another time, the guy that served me was moving so fast that at one point I pointed to a fish to ask what it was, instead he just proceeded to load the wrong one into my bowl before I could even specify what I wanted. All because I pointed at it, but didn't bother to hear what I was actually saying. Additionally, because he was moving so fast, he was dropping ingredients into others from how reckless he was moving. I don't know if that should be a point of concern, but god forbid someone has an allergy to something and gets a reaction from the cross-contamination. The workers are always in a corner gossiping, their hair is never put up (again, ive had hair in my bowl before...), someone's always eating and spreading all their stuff on the table, and the girls aren't dressed professionally at all. I'm a relatively regular customer who enjoys this place because of their portion services and the quality of the food! Their seating area is cute and I usually have no complaints. Overall, I typically have a positive enough experience to come back for more, but today's interactions threw me off quite a bit! I came in around lunchtime to get a poke bowl. When I arrived, the teenage workers were sitting on the floor chatting. I'm not opposed to letting workers take short breaks in-between customers, but when I asked for help they both looked at me and continued having their conversation! Then their shift manager came out and said "Oh shit guys, look." They then got up and asked me what they could do for me. This was so completely unprofessional and disappointing! I also came home to find that the container they had given me was broken on the bottom and my food was leaking sauce! The poke here is decent and typical for California standards, but for those looking for authentic poke this isn't your place. I kind of expected this going in, but still had a good meal. The ordering system reminds me of Chipotle or Subway in the sense that you build your own poke bowl. Choose the size, protein, base, and toppings. There are other options but the bowls are most popular. Service is fast as it's all made in front and the workers were efficient. Having lived in Hawaiʻi for a good chunk of my life, I love me some poke. I had a Small Poke Bowl opting for sushi rice, salmon, and ahi tuna. The fish wasn't fresh and was frozen. The toppings were fine but definitely overpowered the fish. The one nice thing was the portion size as the bowl was massive and enough for two meals. I will say it filled me up and left me satisfied but wasn't the best quality. My Dad had the Sushi Burrito and enjoyed it mentioning it was a good size and had a lot of protein. This Hawaiian Poke is located in the Fallon Gateway plaza. This plaza gets pretty busy, especially on weeknights and weekends. Parking is a bit awkward and disastrous to navigate through. Service gets worse on every visit and I have been here at least once a month this year - just maybe 1 or 2 of the employees are friendly and welcoming, while most of them are not. My usual to go order consists of a sushi burrito (salmon), and it comes with a cup of miso soup and a scoop of ice cream (whatever they have available for the day). I feel like on every visit, the salmon quality gets worse (it is more of a dull / discolored orange color nowadays like it is not fresh and the taste is off as well). The miso soup is usually super salty, so I can never drink more than a couple of sips of it. The ice cream is probably the best part of the meal combo, but it is not even made in-house. Overall, quality is below par as mentioned earlier, but quantity is also a miss - the burrito is not a consistent size, depending who makes it that day (some days, you get a giant burrito, while other days, it is tiny). I prefer the sauce(s) on the side, but not every employee lets you do it - it also depends on who makes it, which I feel like should be consistent, if we can or cannot have sauce(s) on side. Also, their cleanliness and some of their sanitary practices are also questionable - when they are making the sushi burritos, they cross-contaminate different ingredients by touching everything with the same gloves on, while scooping the ingredients from the poke bar with the same gloves instead of using the appropriate serving utensils, then continue making the burrito without changing gloves. This is extremely alarming for people who actually have food allergies and sensitivities. Anyway, on my last visit - I had pretty bad food poisoning afterwards (on my last couple of visits, my stomach did hurt a bit, but not to the extent of my last visit - I was hoping the salmon quality and cleanliness would improved, but unfortunately, it just got worse and came to this). read more

The portions are super generous!! By the time I finish the bowl I still have a good amount of fish left, and that is super rare!! I've been to many poké places and this place has consistently been really good and generous with the portion sizes!! The fish always tastes really fresh too! Also! This is the only poké place i've been to that doesn't charge extra for avocados!! I've been using uber/door dash to get poké delivered. One thing I've noticed is that when I specify ginger and wasabi on the side on my doordash/uber eats order, it still comes in my bowl instead. It gets kinda confusing when the avocados and wasabi look very similar!! But it's not a huge deal since I can just pick it out and enjoy it on the side!
