The backstory: my work family wanted a special retirement gift for our friend who is an avid fisherman. We picked up a nice tackle box but felt it was... lacking something. I called Bryce and sent him pics of the tackle box along with the inscription we wanted. He made a few great recommendations and once we decided on the materials, he even offered to affix the engraved plate onto the tackle box! Mike's Engraving & Trophies was located near where I live and received good ratings, so I decided to check them out. Located in Harbor Center on Hekaha Street, it wasn't easy to find the location at first. Drive allllllll the way to the last row of businesses and go all the way down to the end. You'll find this business on your left when you reach the end of the row. You're welcome in advance....haha! There's no website to view what type of trophies they have, so you kind of need to know what you want. You could go in to the shop, but their hours are Mon - Fri 10:30 am - 2:45 pm and closed on the weekends. Not the biggest window of opportunity to check out their selections. Best option is to email Ryan with what you are looking for and he can work with you to create something based on his inventory. My particular request was a little different from what he usually does, so he needed to include his friend to help make the logos. His friend was off island at the time, so luckily I didn't need the trophies right away. But once his friend came back, they got right to it and both requested items came out incredibly beautiful! Nicer than I had imagined! Super appreciative to Ryan for his patience in going back and forth with emails to get exactly what we wanted. I found Buck of Kailua Trophy and Engraving on yelp. He was friendly and lives near to us. I dropped the two boxes I wanted engraved and Buck got right in the job. I had a going away gift for a Cub Scout pack member that needed to be done at the last minute. I searched Oahu for engraving shops and came upon Engraving Hawaii. Previously I had passed by it a couple times while walking around the Schofield Exchange, but never looked in before. I walked in and there were two customers in front of me. Nick was helping other customers and told me he would assist me as soon as he could. When it was my turn, I explained what I needed and when I needed it, but Nick explained they had an influx of rush jobs that needed to be completed. He let me know that it was unlikely to be finished by the requested date, and I was ok with it, because I tend to follow the saying, "Poor planning on your part does not necessitate an emergency on mine." That evening, I receive a text message from the shop requesting I proof-read and approve the layout. They got the layout exactly how I requested and I quickly replied it was perfect. I was afraid to think that it might get finished in time, but their quick draft gave me a glimmer of hope that it would be ready in time. The next day I got a message telling me the item was ready. I rushed over to the shop and sure enough it was completed and looked fantastic. Because of Engraving Hawaii, we were able to present the award at the banquet for the departing member! I was so impressed with the friendly and professional service. The team is really customer-focused, and based on what I was hearing from their interactions with the other customers they were going to try everything in their power to get requests just right.
