Whoever those kids are on the back wall of the shop are super lucky to have Ted as their father/grandfather, who is not only kind and welcoming, but also hard-working and dedicated to quality work! I've brought three pieces of jewelry to fix including 3 necklaces and 1 chain ring. One of the necklaces, I cut the thin chain when I was cutting off the tag (I have butter fingers), but Ted was able to reattach it seamlessly. The other necklace, I bought online and thought I measured the correct length from the neckline to chest, but it was too long, so Ted helped me readjust the length to exactly where I wanted the pendant to end up. Most recently, I was fiddling with my chain ring when my finger was swollen after eating and sitting all day, so a chain link broke! I didn't want to lose the broken chain, so I closed the link myself and Ted kindly re-aligned it for me and resealed it! Went in to get some links taken out of my new watch to fit my wrist. When I arrived there were no other customers. We agreed on taking a few links out. He started the work and then another customer walked in. He stopped working on my watch and helped the other customer. I was a little miffed but I let it go. Then 2 min later, another customer walked in and he helped them istead of finishing my watch. He never said a word to me. What horrible customer service. Will never go back. Ted was able to quickly help figure out how best to repair and secure multiple bracelets that were jade, gold and Tahitian pearls. I had been afraid to wear them after the safety chain broke on two of them and the other two had loose clasps. I couldn't believe how quickly he fixed them all and his labor prices are extremely reasonable. His shop is located on Ewa side of 12th avenue. I parked in the lot on Diamond Head side of 12th avenue by the Koa Pancake House and walked across the street, but there was also street parking if you're lucky to get one. When you ring the bell, Terence will open for you so you also feel secure when inside. I will definitely return to get more of my jewelry redesigned and also purchase some Hawaiian as that is his specialty. Had a few things that I needed- new batteries for a few watches, a broken clasp on a tennis bracelet, and 2 Japanese character clocks that weren't working, even with new batteries. I called Ted's Jewelry, and he said come on down! I walked in, and felt a comfortable, simple kind of vibe. He took a look at the clocks, and so sad but they don't do clocks, only watches but gave me a couple of recommendations. Left my watches for battery replacements and the bracelet he said he can fix but better to replace with a new clasp. I trusted his suggestion and he said pick up in two days. Old school receipt, on the back of his business card, because hey, if it works, why change it? I got a phone call the very next day, and he said it's ready, I can pick up early. Love my bracelet, very secure and reasonably priced. Watch batteries are $25 each for certain types, or $18 for others. My Baby G's are from Japan and need the eco drive batteries so had to be special ordered. I love supporting local businesses and always appreciate the extra customer service. The other week my wedding band split at the bottom and was in need of a jewelry repair shop. Thank goodness for Yelp! I found Ted's in my neighborhood. Nestled off of 12th Ave is this cute Jewlery shop. I stopped in to see if I could get it soldered back. Ted the owner looked at my ring and said all he needed to do was add a little gold and solder back. Told me all he needed was an hour. I was able to go have some lunch and come back to a fixed wedding ring. I was so happy. The shop is filled with other gold pieces and precious metals. His specialty is Hawaiian Jewelry. When I chipped a link on my ceramic Citizen Eco-Drive watch necessitating the link being removed, I scoured the Kaimuki/Kapahulu area for a jeweler that could repair it in short order (I'm lost without my watch). I found some good reviews about Ted's, and his location was perfect since I was staying somewhere 2/10ths of a mile away. I called and left a message, and Ted called back the next day and invited me to his store. In business since 1989, he is knowledgeable and the most personable and pleasant person on the planet. Warm and chatty without being obnoxious, he is a credit to his profession. While he fixed my watch I perused the beautiful things he had and even decided on a fairly priced ring to purchase. My watch was repaired within 10 minutes and just as if it were brand new. Even if Ted is not terribly near you, if you must travel anywhere for jewelry repair or even purchase of new baubles, I recommend Ted -- without question.
