I asked if he could quote us & he walked right over with a very reasonable quote on the spot. We quickly exchanged info, got scheduled w project completion in 2 weeks. However, this morning, I find myself meeting a team member from JMV Tree Service, who is a licensed arborist and very professional, and I asked him if he could remove a few trees for me. He said yes and once he saw the project and its scope, he told me he could complete the project in a few hours. Then about 30 minutes later, he sent a crew. (It's all in the timing)!! To my amazement, they removed all of it while I was at work and they did such a fantastic job. I wish I did it months ago because this tree has been bothering me and dropping things in my backyard and it was driving me crazy. Absolutely bonkers... so much so, I bought a leaf blower because this tree was making such a mass every day on the deck. And in just a couple hours and for a very fair price, Jonathan and his team at JMV Tree Service did a fine job and made it very easy for me. Yes, I will keep them in my contacts for help with my trees in the future. I'm glad my neighbor introduced us and I am very grateful because they know their stuff and they did a great job. I had a mixed experience with Alejandro over the 6-8 months I worked with him. While he was…read moregenerally responsive and made lots of promises, he misrepresented himself as an arborist when I needed one for tree root pruning around a sidewalk permit with the City of Oakland. Alejandro only told the truth after we had gathered a big 10-person crew of my general contractor's team, the city inspector and whole concrete team ready to pour the sidewalk. With all these men looking to him for approval as the arborist, he buckled and admitted he wasn't a "certified arborist" but a "licensed arborist." We were all dumbfounded. This colossal waste of time cost me several thousand dollars more from a two week delay and extra man hours over Xmas, when Alejandro left a big safety hazard of sharp nails, overturned plywood, and a mess of wood chips on the sidewalk that another crew had to manage when he was a no-show on the cleaning part. At least he did actually prune the roots after he found a real "certified arborist" to replace him. He did cut back the tree branches just fine. But If you need anything more official than a tree haircut, I don't recommend you choose Alejandro.

The small project was to take a pittosporum down about 5 feet and enhance the canopy shape. They did a very nice job on this. Meanwhile, the bigger project was being done by the rest of the crew. We have a very large Monterey Cypress. It needed to be cleared or dead branches, a good deal of weight, and a large lateral "window" created to allow a clear view from a back deck. With guys on ropes and a guy on the cherry picker truck (bucket truck), they go the job done. All of this was completed in an afternoon and within about a week of my contacting them. Additionally, I enjoyed interacting with the crew and with Willy. Certainly worth getting an estimate!

Nevertheless, the crew completed that and removal of the remaining trunk and root the following date with incredible efficiency and safety precautions to protect trees from falling. You're in good hands with Willy the owner, who is practical and understanding of the emotions around trees and his crew polite and exceedingly hard working. It was well worth the amount we paid which was competitive. It helps them out immensely when you can clear out space for them to work and secure parking for their chipper and truck.

We had Jose from Vega's Tree Service out to look at some dying hedges and chose to have them plant…read morereplacements. Jose and his crew did a good job. Based on that job, we had Jose come back to price planting of sago palms and trimming trees/bushes/hedges. His price sounded good so we scheduled a one-day job for the work. On the scheduled Tuesday, a crew of three arrived (but not Jose to lead the work). We had to explain to the lead what we wanted done (same as we had explained to Jose before). The lead did not appear to understand us completely. The lead even FaceTimed with Jose for clarification. Apparently, that didn't make it any clearer for the lead...as evidenced by the crew's work. During the first three hours, the crew only managed to plant the sago palms...half of them planted too deep in depressions. They ran out of soil. The lead found a bag on my property and asked if they could use it. After I told him no, he used it anyway and said he misunderstood me. One guy also had to leave to buy more soil for the sagos. After I complained to Jose, the crew provided a replacement bag of soil. The crew trimmed the palm trees and hedges ok. They, however, botched the rest of their work. They butchered the bushes, fruit trees and other trees. They only completed about have the work and didn't cleanup at the end of their day...saying they'd be back on Friday. We feel it is unacceptable for them to have left the job site in such a state...even if they planned to return. The crew also broke a yard lantern. Not sure if we can get a replacement. We cancelled their Friday return and only paid them for the work completed. We are not satisfied with either the partial job done or the price charged for that partial job. It's crap. Vega Tree Service clearly had a more important job elsewhere and sent an inexperienced/subpar lead and crew to do our job. Poor customer service. We will not be using Vega's Tree Service again. We also cannot recommend them to other customers.

Madriz Tree pruned a large oak tree in my neighbor's backyard. The branches extend over to my…read moreproperty by about 8-10 feet. They cut an extensive number of branches from the oak tree and let them free-fall on my property, which is full of plants. The branches damaged my plants extensively. My backyard was probably 4 feet high with branches, and 8 feet deep. When I talked to one of the workers, he said the plants were "OK", but that wasn't true. When I asked to speak to the supervisor from Madriz, the workers said he wasn't there. No one from Madriz told me that they were going to prune the tree and let large branches free-fall into my backyard onto the plants in my garden and garage roof. Completely unprofessional. With respect to your request for a video, I do have a video of your Madriz worker in my backyard pulling piles and piles of branches off of my plants in my garden. With respect to your comment that I was "yelling and screaming" and "harassing" your workers, you are gaslighting me. I don't yell, scream, or harass workers. It's offensive and untrue. If you wanted to dead-drop limbs from an oak tree into my backyard, onto the plants in my garden, you should have contacted me first and discussed it. You never did.

Brende & Lamb were contracted to do tree trimming on my neighbor's property. I made it clear to my…read moreneighbor that my trees were not to be trimmed (though branches reaching into their yard are fair game) and that I did not grant access to my yard for liability reasons. On the day of the work, I stayed home from work to make sure my trees were not damaged. The team lead climbed from my neighbor's tree onto my tree (the trunk of which is several feet inside my property line). I asked him to please exit my property, because he was standing on a very precarious branch and this is a liability issue if he were to fall or the branch were to break causing property damage. He proceeded to yell back at me that he's allowed to be there by my neighbor. I said no, I'm the homeowner and I did not give you permission to enter my yard. We had a heated exchange and he called me crazy multiple times. This was very stressful and unnecessary. I had to get my neighbor involved. I would not use this company if you want to maintain civil relationships with your neighbors.
