After purchasing our home, a lack of attention had gotten the best of our yard. I hired Andres to help get an overgrown and disastrous yard situation under control. After a big initial clean-up job, Andres agreed to a fair monthly rate for bi-weekly maintenance. They always do a good job keeping things tidy. But here's where the five stars come in... Andres' service really stood out during the recent installation of an artificial lawn. The first contractor completely misled us in terms of his knowledge and capabilities. He started work on the project and after many delays, we realized he wasn't going to get the job done on time. I called Andres up on a Tuesday night with an urgent request. Since we had been his regular customers for a while, he put a rush on the job and brought over an army on the very next day. The job was done in a matter of days! More importantly, he was able to do a thorough job and explained each step in the process. We learned a valuable lesson in only hiring trustworthy contractors to get jobs done on time. Andres is our go-to for any future landscaping needs. read more

I hired Andres to remove and replace the old and faded bark in my front and back yards. In addition to replacing the bark, I also hired Andres to adjust my bougainvillea plant since it was not thriving in its current position. After the bark removal and replacement was completed and after I paid Andres in full for all the work, the following day I noticed several areas in both yards that were not completely covered by bark and actually exposed the underlying landscape materials. I immediately contacted Andres about this concern, sent him several photos and requested more bark so that all areas would be completely covered. Andres totally dismissed this request and concern... to the point of that he did not bother responding. Furthermore, my Bougainvillea's previously healthy leaves dried up and crumbled two days after Andres replanted it. It's probably suffering from shock. After this latest experience and Andres's nonchalant and unprofessional attitude, I do not recommend this company. read more

[Updated 8/9/21] The work they did was fine, but we accidentally paid them double, and they gave us the runaround when trying to get it back (we still haven't gotten the money back yet). We paid through Venmo; the payment didn't go through. So we paid them again. Then the first payment went through. So we contacted them to ask them to refund one Venmo payment. They said they couldn't do that, and asked us to set up an account on some other payment website. We asked them again to just refund through Venmo, and they finally said they'd mail us a check. But it has been nearly two weeks and they haven't sent it. I'm doubtful that they have any intention of refunding the money at this point. Update 8/9/21: We finally received a check in the mail, weeks later. I don't think they were maliciously trying to keep our extra payment, but it was difficult to get it back. But since we did get repaid, I'm changing our rating from a 1 to a 3. read more

Andre and his crew fixed the sprinkler system in our front and backyard. There were some unforeseen challenges along the way, that didn't stop these guys from doing the job and doing it well. Andre is a great guy who is talented and easy to work with. I'll definitely be using Andre and his crew for more projects in the future. read more

Andres didn't actually do any work for us but I was having an issue with drainage in our front yard while trying to plant a Japanese Maple tree. I called him to ask a few questions, he gave me some input and then volunteered to come over on the spot and take a look himself. The tree is doing great ever since taking his suggestions. I appreciate the extra help you offered and would definitely be in touch should we need more gardening services in the future! read more

Andre came a week before and was tasked with clearing some large tree branches that fell during the recent wind storms and also clear some leaves and grass. Instead he and his accomplice Ramiro took their own prerogative to cut down a tree we planted a year ago, mow down our flower bed, and fall short on the actual task at hand. Andre was unresponsive and unapologetic. read more

I bought my home a year ago and had neglected the care of the outdoor areas around my house. Andres was quick to respond to my phone call and he set up a time to assess my needs. He was on time, professional, and polite. We agreed on a time to do an initial clean up and agreed on a monthly maintenance. I was so happy he had time to come that very same week. For the first time he came with his crew and did a walk through at the end to be sure I was satisfied. I AM SO HAPPY!!! Everything is now so clean, so well-pruned, all the weeds are gone...it looks BEAUTIFUL. Like I have a new house! I look forward to continue to work with Andres. I would highly recommend him and his crew. read more

Andres' team did a great job for our yard's maintenance. He came in for a free consultation and got the service done the following day. He also suggested planting some roses, which added some nice color to our yard. read more

We absolutely love the work that was done on my mother-in-law's home! My husband and I are putting the house up for sell and didn't want to leave the yard in it's current state. Well I hopped on yelp and after reading countless reviews, decided to schedule an appointment for an estimate. Rolando came out and looked at the front and back yards. He suggested we do mulch. Well that was a no-brainer being that the state is experiencing a water crisis. Long story short, we could not be more happier with the work that was done. And as promised, it was done within the time frame given, 3 days. My husband couldn't stop smiling. Communication was mostly done via text message or an occasional phone call, if more detail was needed. Very friendly and overall, a great experience! Would definitely use them again if the opportunity arises. read more

We were underwhelmed with the state of the front yard of our newly-purchased home. Thankfully, Andres and his competent team gave it quite the facelift! The first time he met us, Andres was very thorough with his questions to make sure he understood the kind of look we were going for, and how much we were willing to spend. He and his crew showed up on the days and times we agreed upon, they were respectful to us and of our property, and carried out the tasks with much expertise. In fact, we were so happy with the outcome that we had them do some additional work in the backyard, also at a decent cost and with the same level of efficiency and skill. We'd highly recommend their services! read more

Very Professional, always on time and thorough with work. I highly recommend to give them a try for your garden/landscaping needs.

Not Reliable. Doesn't respond in a respectful or prompt time frame. I reached out to Andres on 2/15 to get some landscaping and tree work done for our HOA in Oakland. He said he would come take a look at the tree's and work to be done the next day or so. I sent pictures, etc ahead of time. He never came out. I followed up with him a few days later (Feb. 23rd) to see if he was still going to come and provide a quote to do the work. No response or call back. I followed up a third time several weeks later and asked if there was an update. You would think that he wants new customers, NOPE! He finally let me know that he can't help and he is too busy. Why didn't he say so the first time or the second time. I find it very unprofessional and not service oriented to treat prospects that way. It's sad that so many contractors have a reputation of not being true to their word, not communicating, not following up. So much for nice pictures and reviews if someone never gets a chance to work with the business we'll never know. read more

We needed a huge cleanup after we let our big yard go to weeds. We're talking a small jungle of 6 foot weeds, and all the normal grasses and oxalis to boot. After getting a few estimates we decided to go with Andres. Andres and his crew are easy to work with, prompt, and straight forward. They earn top marks both for the way Andres conducts business, as well as for the quality of their work. We were able to communicate effectively and efficiently by phone and text. They showed up on time; did everything Andres they would during the walkthrough; and finished early. At the end Andres insisted on another walkthrough to make sure we were happy with the work. We were! All this for literally hundreds of dollars less than the other services we checked out. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because this was our first, and so far only, landscaping job. Thus, I don't feel experienced enough to give a comprehensive review as far as competition or sustained quality over time. That said, he'll definitely be the first person we call going forward. read more

We are happy to have met Andres! He is a very good communicator. He asked questions and got a true understanding of our expectations. He restated it all before they started the job and we were not disappointed. He delivered exactly as promised at the quoted price (even though the job took much longer than expected). He has a great knowledge of irrigation and pruning. He is was punctual and left everything looking perfect! On top of it all, he and his crew are very nice guys. read more

Andres did such a great job of our "jungle" we had in our backyard. I was embarrassed to show him when he first came by to look at it. My pregnant wife was so ecstatic at the difference, she wanted to invite the neighbors over to look. I would recommend him to anyone who needs service. One of the other top rated teams on yelp did not even come out to see and simply said it would be x amount of money to do. Almost as if they did not want the business. Andres is my guy from here on out! read more

Andres Gardening service is the BEST! We first talked on the phone and he was very professional. I wanted to landscape my 89 year old mother's yard in hopes that it would brighten her life. She is a dyalysis patient and has suffered a heart attack in the past year. We then met for an appointment to discuss the job and he was very prompt. I had a vision of how I wanted my yard to look like and he brought it into fruition! Great people, great work! When I go out to water the yard the neighbors gush in awe! Thank you Andres, you have made my 89 year old mother very, very happy. read more

Overall, Andres team did a great job transforming our dying lawn to a low-water garden! Andres worked with us on our vision and with our budget, and his team was friendly. Communication broke down at times, such as following-up with a fence quote, and relaying a cancellation or time change, which was a set back for the work getting done in agreed time frames, hence the one star removed. Otherwise a great job. read more

We hired Andre's to do a one time weed and dead tree removal and we were hoping to keep them as our bi-weekly gardener. We discussed everything we wanted done and a price was agreed upon. However, when the day came for the work to be done, the price kept getting higher as the job went on. I kept being told "it must have been a miscommunication" but I don't think that is possible when I clearly stated what we wanted done, multiple times and it was agreed upon. The job was never finished. They were paid (hundreds more than they originally quoted!) and then never returned. read more

My yard was a jungle. I'm pretty sure that tigers were hiding in the brush waiting to pounce on me as I fought my way through to my front door every evening. I finally decided I would like a nice yard again, so I called Andres. He and his crew were awesome. He came by when he promised, gave me a great price and then more than delivered on what he had promised. The crew hand weeded the beds, weed whacked the brush, dug out some plants, trimmed the bushes, and left everything looking beautiful. You wouldn't believe the difference in just two days. I've got more work to do as I zero-scape my yard because of the drought and I will absolutely call Andres again to help me out. ps. No tigers were hurt in the clearing of this yard. read more

First thing, I have been using them for more than 4 yrs for bi-weekly maintenance, so I KNOW them! Today I fired them! Let me con't to explain: 1. DISRESPECT WORK SCOPE. For the first 2 yrs, they had been doing a good job roughly on time, so decided to I asked them to install the irrigation drip system (to conserve water). But instead, he insisted to install mini sprinklers, saying they had better coverage for our small veggie garden. The system apparently did not installed correctly, so one day the water pressure was too much and they sprayed all over, even to our neighbor's house (and they got super mad too, because it was a summer day, and they had their windows open). At the end, we had to redo and replace the entire thing to a new drip system the way that we originally wanted ourselves. I wasn't sure communication was an issue, or he simply wanted an easy/cheaper way out. 2. THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE. Often late and sometimes NO SHOW! To us, this is UNACCEPTABLE! This is totally not the workers' fault, as they only received orders. It was Andre! He got so busy, and he poorly managed his staffs. I obviously gave him many many chances over the years. This situation worsen since 2 years ago and kept escalating! I wanted to let them go so many times, because he wouldn't tell/reply me what time his crew would come or not! It got to a point that I had to reconfirm with him the day before EVERYTIME. The original agreed time had gone out the window. 4. INCREASE PRICES AT THE SPOT. One time, because they didn't show up, then 2 weeks later when they finally showed to do the work, he was telling me that he needed to raise the price, because of more work?! I have not heard of someone missed a day of work without explanation/notice and showed up the next day and asked their boss for more money?! At the end I still gave more money. 3. UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL. He had sent his son (a teen at the time) to my house, randomly wrecking our plants while on the phone. I had to tell him to stop! And I had to ask for specific team to be here, because random people would just show up each time, and they damaged my plants from time to time, I showed him picture and name of the plants they pulled out and damaged, and he said he would replace them for me, and he never did. AND THE FINAL DRAW! He yelled at me over the phone for not answering the door immediately! I texted him the night b4 to ask if they would be showing (coz again they didn't show last time), and no reply. So I did not expect them, and I went about to take care of the million things that I had to do as a new parent. When I heard the leaf blower, I checked my phone, and there I saw a missed call from 7 mins ago and a text saying they were there. I immediately went to the back and open the backdoor and texted him right back to notify him. 5 mins later, I didn't hear anything, and I realized that they left. There, I called him and asked about it, and then he yelled at me and said I should have immediately ran out and opened the door for them, and HUNG UP ON ME!! Ridiculous much? Saying how he had to pay for his workers to be there, and they couldn't spend time waiting. He claimed 30 mins of waiting. Exaggerated much? Sure, they shouldn't be waiting, I understand, so how about reply to my text and tell me what time they would be coming, so I can "properly greet them with a cup of tea"? OH better yet, how about actually show up every time at the agreed time and days? IF they haven't been no shows or late all the time, I would have my gate and backdoor opened already. And what did I do to deserve to be yelled at? to not expect them when I didnt get a reply?? what about the numerous times that we waited for them? Hint: if you decided to still try them after you read this review, go ahead! But just to be warned, you are about to hire someone who's not reliable, full of excuses, unprofessional and show no respect to you! oh and a yeller! read more

This review is a little late as Rolando completed the work a couple months ago, but I had to make sure I wrote something about the service I received. First of all, I am very happy with the my front yard turned out. I used to have ugly white rock and an even uglier Juniper bush separating my yard from the sidewalk. I wanted to clear out the bush and make the front yard seem more open. Rolando helped me design a tiered yard with succulents, mulch, and a couple retaining walls. The work was done in three phases: bush and rock extraction, retaining walls, and lastly the mulch and succulent/drought resistant plants. HIs workers were very respectful, kind, and trustworthy. As another reviewer mentioned, his prices aren't the cheapest, but they are very fair. Rolando and his crew take great pride in their work and want to make sure that his clients are happy. They didn't rush any process and were pretty meticulous, nor did they cut any corners. Above all, he's a good guy. Because it's a small family run business, it's good to discuss pricing and terms ahead of time (as with any other business). I've attached some pictures as well. read more
