Would give more than 5 stars if I could. Lara and her team are amazing. She was recommended to us by the folks at Encinal Nursery in Alameda, and they sure didn't lead us astray. Lara understood the feeling we were going for with our project and helped us design the landscaping in a way we never could have done ourselves. She hit the bullseye. And her crew executed the project with such attention to detail, it was so great to see. A+ all around and we can't wait to work with them again. read more

We are so SO happy with our garden! Lara was perceptive to our ideas and synthesizing them into what will actually work for our ability and the climate. Besides that, her communication and organizational skills are excellent, and she's a gosh darn delight, besides. Shout out to her crew, too, they were wonderful. I highly recommend Bountiful Botanicals. Seriously, I can't say enough good things! read more

From the start, working with Lara @ Bountiful Botanicals has been a pleasure! Our project was quite large, involving a bigger crew, and dealing with unexpected challenges throughout the project due to our back yard having a lot of "hidden history", so to speak. But Lara and the crew were able to meet these challenges head on, and found ways to optimize time so we were not bogged down with extra spend. We completely overhauled our back yard, from an overgrown mess to a yard we could be proud of, and most importantly, safe for our kids. Lara was great in understanding we had kids, and she helped in choosing materials that would work well to reduce or eliminate chemicals or difficult/sharp surfaces. Same goes for plant selection, equally good for our kids and dog so nothing with poisons, and lots of fun edibles for the kids to easily pick off an eat. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Bountiful Botanicals for your project, both large and small. They can take on any challenge and have the skills within the team to get any project completed. I've included a before, and a few after. The details speak for themselves on the quality and craftsmanship from the team! read more

This review is long overdue - Lara landscaped both my front and back yards last October 2025, but even after all these months later I can still say hiring Lara was one of my best decisions ever! Lara was enjoyable to work with, yet still the ultimate professional. She was timely, responsive, and somehow kept the project on schedule and within budget! (Actually, she was even a bit under budget to be completely honest!) I also really appreciated how Lara advised me to get the best bang for my buck while designing the yards, saving me money in ways I had not previously considered. And Lara's crew was friendly and extremely hard working - my yard was often cleaner after they left each day than it was before they arrived. I'm so happy I chose Bountiful Botanicals! read more

If you want a long erm investment in a beautiful garden, this is the company to choose. Lara does an amazing job selecting the plants that are going to thrive in our climate and creating a textured, low maintenance design. She is also an expert in setting up drip systems that helps the low water garden sustain over many years. We used her and her talented team 15 years ago on our front landscape and 90% of the plants are still thriving. We went back to her again for our back garden after another company did a poor job. I am excited to see the new plants already taking off. Lara is a good communicator and the people who work with her are clearly knowledgable and committed. I highly recommend Bountiful Botanicals! read more

Lara and her team were wonderful! They built a beautiful deck in our backyard, and now we plan to hire them for additional projects.

Bountiful Botanicals recently finished designing and landscaping our front yard. We are quite pleased. Lara is very creative and has good instincts about what to plant and where to plant it, how to structure a garden, and how to mix a bit of hardscape with a lot of plants. She also seems to have spent a lot of time researching and thinking about what plants would best meet our desire for a drought and deer resistant, fire-wise, and beautiful garden. Throughout the project, she developed and revised her ideas, improving the design even as it was installed. Her crew (the guys who implemented her plan) were nothing short of fantastic. I haven't found any aspect of their work to complain about; everything appears to have been done efficiently and professionally. Never have I retained a contractor who cleaned up the work site any better than these folks. Spotless! read more

Lara and her friendly longtime crew at Bountiful Botanicals did a wonderful job on our garden renovation and update. She met with us to understand what we wanted for our front yard and a steep back and side yard, helped us decide which plants should be replaced, and suggested attractive new plants that would use little water and require minimal maintenance. We had an old drip irrigation system that the crew repaired and adapted to the new plants and their overall work was efficient and beautiful. After the initial planting, a plant that was supposed to be deer resistant turned out not to be, and Lara suggested a new one at no additional charge. We can't wait for spring, and for the next couple years as the plants grow and mature and create a garden we can enjoy even more. read more

Lara was very easy to work with, listening to our ideas and quickly helping us understand what was and wasn't realistic. She and her team provided a variety of services (thorough weeding, planting new plants, adding irrigation, building a gate) and executed them with good quality and in a timely manner. She was also a great sounding board throughout the process as new ideas came up. Her prices are not the cheapest but the work was good quality, and she was willing to make adjustments to fit our budget. We'd definitely work with Lara again in the future. read more

When I was originally planning a renovation of my backyard, I reached out to a small number of companies to have initial discussions about the design, scope, and budget of the project. I initially selected a different company who promised a beautiful design - and they did deliver a beautiful design, but at FOUR TIMES the amount that I'd shared with them as my budget. Frustrated at having invested time and money into an unbuildable design, I immediately called Lara back because she was the designer who had been focused on ways to improve the functionality and feel of my backyard within my budget and was willing to call out the items that would take us over budget and think of creative ways to reduce costs but still deliver on my major priorities for the space. I will be using her services for the actual renovation work. read more

The crew is timely, courteous and knowledgeable. They are a joy to have in my garden. I've worked with them for years and they've always delivered. They are not a mow and blow crew. We worked with Bountiful Botanicals a year and half ago to redo our hopelessly messed up front yard. Lara and her team (Rick, Easy, and crew) are all professionals who gets the job done well - they care about the quality of their work and we are happy with the outcomes. As a designer, I find her to be easy to talk to and to work with. Lara quickly comes up with a vision, lots of great ideas and is not bogged down by the limitation of the site. She also understands design and minimal aesthetics, and chooses drought resistant plants (which is a plus for me and water consumption). Rick and his crew on site took great care in transforming the site, always respectful to leave things organized and orderly. Any type of construction or landscaping/gardening work brings some level of disturbance to the site, so the crew's level of mindfulness in working with the site is a big plus. I think this really sets them apart in my book. We recently redid our backyard again to make our backyard more kid friendly during covid pandemic time, and Bountiful Botanical really delivered once again. I know working with them I won't have to be too involved past the initial "here is what I want" stage because they know what they're doing and the end result always meets our expectations. read more

We used Bountiful Botanicals for our front yard landscaping and are very happy with the results. The process from beginning to end was very professional and a positive experience for us. We were very happy we worked with Lara and her crew. We reached out to several landscaping companies in the Bay Area and when we met Lara, we knew we wanted to work with her. She was the most responsive and enthusiastic landscape designer we found. She visited our home and based on our budget, our space, and our inspiration photos, she immediately had a vision. She was happy to incorporate our existing plants and didn't get bent out of shape about changing things based on our feedback or based on supply chain issues. She thought about how the space would look at our estimated time of home sale and chose plants accordingly. She and her team finished the project in the stated timeframe and made us feel confident we knew how to care for the plants after they were gone. I would highly recommend her. read more

From beginning to end it was such a pleasure to work with Lara and her team. Everything was well thought out, explained, our questions answered and work was completed within the timeframe we discussed. Lara was willing to use plants we already had, remove what we didn't like and replace with plants that will acclimate to our micro-climate. I absolutely love the makeover of a very unruly front yard. Added bonus the mulch we picked smells so wonderful. Excellent work and service - so worth it!! Thanks Lara and team for bringing happiness to me and my yard. We asked various landscaping companies to come around, told them what we wanted - to remodel our gopher-holed yard into a xeric garden with a dining patio. They said they'd get back to us. But we were left with no sense of a vision of what it would look like, and they never responded. Lara from the get-go sounded so intelligent, creative, and visionary that we were absolutely entranced and engaged. Her workers were hard-working and highly skilled. She incorporated our ideas into her vision, stayed within budget and schedule, and left us with a beautiful garden and gorgeous flagstone dining patio -- and inspired us to think more creatively about the rest of our overgrown grounds.... we truly enjoyed working with her and her team. Bountiful Botanicals! My wife and I decided in 2011 to replace our front and side yard "grass" with drought-resistant/tolerant native plants. We looked at dozens of low-water yards around Alameda, and submitted the photos of our favorite plants/flowers/succulents to Lara Wilson at Bountiful Botanicals. She took all the time we needed to create a list of plants which would work on our property, and gave us a quote, including time frames, availability, and all work needing completion before she started, and suggested any necessary materials we could buy on our own. We are so happy with our new yard. Lara, Francisco, Jorge, and E.Z. created an amazingly beautiful landscape to replace our ugly old lawn. in just under two days, they completely transformed our two giant dirt expanses into a beautiful drought-tolerant landscape. Francisco, the team leader, clearly knows what he's doing and loves what he does (as do Jorge and EZ). BONUS: I was prepared to go under the house to run wiring to our new sprinkler valve we'd purchased for them to install. Francisco not only insisted he would be the one to do it if necessary, but he then checked our existing (never used by us) irrigation wiring and quickly and craftily tied our new valve and timer into the existing wiring system. Such a huge help. It's simple - If you're considering landscape design, put Bountiful Botanicals at the top of your list. Such a great experience! -Mike & Kelly read more

Laura & her crew have done a wonderful job in rehabilitating our old large Japanese garden. They were all delightful & easy to work with. Laura is very knowledgeable. Lara did an amazing job helping us design our backyard and select plants. She knew which plants were drought tolerant, native, and which ones were bad for dogs. She also had great insight about what to do with the hardscape. Lara got a sense for the plants that we liked and was able to tailor her design to our preferences. It was easy to schedule a consultation with her and she turned around her design quick and on time. Unlike other landscape designers, she can do both design/build and design only contracts. She was a perfect fit for our needs and I would definitely recommend her. read more

Lara and the crew of Bountiful Botanicals did an OUTSTANDING job on our dream project 11 years in the making. She took our dump of a lot with an ugly concrete wall and created an outdoor space so beautiful we are still in awe of it. She is the ultimate professional. Her attention to detail, her eye for design, her work ethic, her commitment to transparency, and her skill at project management made this project a joy to undertake. The result was far more spectacular than we even dared to hope. I met with several other landcape contractors before we met Lara. Do NOT waste your time doing this. You seriously do not need to. She is design and build. That is HUGE in terms of cost savings, communication and flow. We first tried to get this done with a landscape architect and every time she even talked to the people about the install I got billed. One firm that handles it all will simplify the process and save you money. Believe me, I learned the hard way. The day my husband and I met with Lara we knew within 5 minutes we wanted her to do the job. She listened to how we said we wanted to use the space, she told us clearly how far our budget would go, she pointed out concerns we'd encounter before they became an issue and she got to work. She moved the project along in an efficient but never rushed manner and she addressed every single one of my zillion questions with patience and in a timely manner. She was always accessible, incredibly patient, and she had creative solutions to every concern. I am a control freak but by the end of the project I was like, "oh Lara will figure it out." She did and far better than I ever could have. If think you have a great idea, trust me, she has a better one. Just let her do her thing!! Prompt, considerate, careful, and HARDWORKING her crew made the project as painless as possible. Francisco, the foreman, worked with diligence and focus but he would always stop and take the time to answer a question or address any concerns. He is an excellent communicator. Her crew was careful with our dogs and our property. They were super respectful of our neighbors with regard to noise etc in the early part of the day. The crew kept the job site spotless. They worked VERY hard and they were on-time every single day for 8 weeks. We were sad to see them leave! I think in sum this is the bottom line. Lara and Francisco worked on this project as if it were their dream not ours. They truly wanted us to LOVE it. You could see that in their attention to detail, their perfectionism and their unwillingness to cut any corners. I know I am very particular and Lara handled my every request with grace and efficiency. Lara is truly gifted and she has created a gem of a company. read more

My husband, dog and I could not be more thrilled with our experience with Lara and her Bountiful Botanicals team. I have never had an experience with a contractor quite like working with Lara. She was collaborative and open to our ideas, all while having a great vision for how our backyard would come together. She was quick to respond to all emails, even questions about how plants were doing and what weeds we should pull long after the completion of the project. She was respectful of our budget, providing cost saving options along the way as well as advising us on what we shouldn't cut corners on. She showed up every morning of the construction, giving us an opportunity to express thoughts we had had about the work done the day prior and totally willing to make changes (including digging up plants if needed). She's also happily stopped by multiple times since the work was done to adjust watering, replace plants that had issues and just keep an general eye on things. And it isn't just Lara - her crew was wonderful! Again, totally willing to make changes but also always ensuring that the project was realistic based on our water pressure, etc. They were very respectful of our neighbors and our space, leaving everything cleaner then when they got there (including doing some front yard clean-up even though they were there for a back yard project). Francisco, who lead the team, was great - he even defending some of our plant choices to a passerby concerned about their drought tolerance. The icing on the cake was how incredibly dog friendly they were. They brought treats for our pup, were very conscious of keeping the gate closed and would literally stop in the middle of their work some days just to pet her. I wanted to have Lara and her whole team over for a beer to enjoy the yard after the project was done. If you are in need of a beautiful yard created but a creative and kind team, call Lara immediately. read more

Lara is seriously awesome. We were looking for someone to consult with us on how to turn our scraggly, weedy, unkempt lawn into a mulched,drought-tolerant paradise. We wanted to do the work ourselves, both because we're cheap and we liked the idea of it. I talked to a few different landscapers who balked at the idea, but Lara was game from the get-go. She: 1. Instructed us on how to kill the lawn without poisons/chemicals. 2. Had her crew installed a main drip irrigation line and hook it up to a timer. 3. Came up with a plant and materials list, and helped us get everything we needed. 4. Showed us how to create mounds, how and where to plant, how to create flagstone paths, and how to lay the drip lines. She was very up-front and honest about costs, and really worked to stay within our budget. She was always responsive and communicative - very different than most contractors. Now we've got a yard to be proud of AND a feeling of mighty accomplishment. Thanks Lara! read more

Glows: Lara and her crew take excellent care of our plants. We have hibiscus, roses and generic "bushes" lining the driveway, plus a back yard with a lawn, a couple of trees and a small garden area. Everything stays vibrantly alive and pleasingly under control. Everyone on her crew is pleasant to talk to and clearly loves what they're doing. I haven't met Lara herself but my wife says she's wonderful and loves our cats (not that that affects gardening but it shows she's cool). They also take full responsibility for any mistakes. On a recent visit they accidentally cut a driveway light wire. They would have fixed it on the spot if they'd seen it; as it is, Lara is going to reduce our next bill to compensate us for the inconvenience. Grows: The grows really all boil down to communications. The irrigation specialist showed up without all the info she said she would provide him (but the job got done fine); when the team's mower broke and they couldn't finish the grass, they didn't tell us (but everything else was perfect). Invoices could be more prompt, as could email responses (though lately the latter is not so much the case). She does respond quickly to phone calls, so if you need to reach her right away, phone her. In general we love the work of Lara and her team so much that the "grows" above are minor. read more

What can I say that 5 stars can't? I had been looking for a landscaper for a home that I purchased with a badly neglected front lawn (I use the word "lawn" very loosely, as by this point it was a collection of weeds with a blade of grass here and there). I wanted to remove the grass and put a mix of flowers, edible plants, and black mulch. I interviewed about 5 landscapers all who seemed very capable. I chose Lara because she was personable and obviously very passionate about what she does. Lara was super easy to work with. I had a few plants that I liked and she was able to tell me what would work best and why. She paired the plants in my list with other plants that really made everything pop visually when placed together. In the end, she designed a beautiful space that I couldn't have imagined myself. All while keeping to my requirements of having a low-maintenance and drought resistant yard. I now have a beautiful grassless space that has flowers and plenty of edible additions like strawberries, sage and lavender. I sometimes catch myself staring out the window just admiring the landscaping. My neighbors all love it as well. I definitely recommend Lara! read more

I've been looking around for Landscape Designers and called Lara based on her positive yelp reviews. I didn't realize she no longer served our area (Hayward), she still spent time with me on my phone answering questions about my hopes for a new landscape. We met with a few designers and ultimately decided on Bountiful Botanicals because we were impressed with Lara's knowledge, design skills, and her personable and prompt communication. We wanted to work with a company that does both the design and installation. Lara and her crew, Francisco and EZ, did a fantastic job re-landscaping both our front and back yards. Our goal was to replace our ugly shrub and water-thirsty lawn with a beautiful, easy-to-care-for, drought-tolerant, deer-resistant garden. We are very happy with the results and have received nothing but compliments and congratulations from our neighbors. An initial meeting will cost $200, but if you choose BB, the $200 will go towards your costs. You will have an opportunity to review a detailed Plant List and know what the exact expenses will be. However, don't expect to have a traditional landscape architectural design plan drawn up (you have an option for paying extra for one). She will provide a general idea of her design and, ultimately, work with you to make sure you are completely satisfied and happy. Francisco and EZ were hard-working, on time, and consummate professionals. They work without using noisy big machines, which was nice for us and our neighbors. They were respectful, cleaned up the work-site each day and addressed our concerns or questions. We now love spending time in our beautiful backyard garden and still receive compliments on our front yard. read more

We were beat and broke after renovating our lower hills house, and left the landscaping until last. ('Everybody does,' Lara said with a smile. Within minutes of meeting her, I already felt encouraged.) She looked over our sorry yard and both saw and clearly explained what it could become. And even though Lara has true artistic vision and ability (as you can see from the photos), she never forgot that she was working with real people on a budget. She worked conscientiously, understood our needs exactly, and was so clear and easy to work with that we took all of her suggestions -- and she still came in under budget! Her perfectly legitimate consultation fee was worth every penny, plus she credited it back to us anyway. Lara was not the first landscaper we interviewed, but she definitely was the last. read more

Once again Lara's team has saved my garden! About 5 years ago, Lara installed a terrific garden and patio that has been so easy to care for and stays beautiful year round. That is, until this last year when I remodeled and my irrigation was uprooted by another contractor, and blew out our electrical, including my timer. TIred of hand watering, I finally cried uncle and had Lara's team come out to fix the mess. They were great. We fixed a few valves, replaced a bad timer, and checked the whole system for leaks. Her irrigation specialist, Francisco is the best. He patiently walked me through the new timer, checked to make sure we were not still leaking water at the water main, and waited until we had all the last details nailed before heading to his next job. Courteous professional service. You can't ask for more. read more

Our HOA hired Lara and her team to completely renew the landscape of our condominium. From the very first meeting, Lara has been very professional, personable and truly passionate about her job. For logistical and financial reasons the project was divided into four phases. As October 2014, the first three phases have been completed on time and on budget. Besides Lara, I want to commend her work-force, lead by a great guy who literally gets the job DONE! Working for a condo can be tricky since there are many issues at stake, from cleaning after themselves, to the safety of those who live in the premises, from street parking issues to noise rules etc. In many occasions her team had to work harder and longer in order to meet our association requests, or simply for not disturbing neighbors. We definitely appreciated their "customer-oriented" approach, and we thank them for being so respectful of the people and the place. As a result, our condominium has tremendously increased its value and curb appeal. Thanks Lara! read more
