My co-workers and I love going here for lunch. The food is always good. Their soups are amazing, especially the creamy potato soup. Served with a very tasty bread, it is a perfect meal. To add to that perfection you have to get their fries. They are crispy crinkle fries that are cooked to perfection with a soft bite in the middle. Waitstaff is always very friendly. I visited with family when they were here to visit, and I got a club sandwich, which I really enjoyed! Everybody else was happy with their lunch, both with the selections for what they could have, and how the food tasted when it was delivered. Had lunch here today (Saturday) we a friend. We wanted to eat outside but the weather was permitting. We were happy with their Covid procedures. They were requiring masks and sitting people every other table. They also brought out prepackaged condiments to prevent the spread of germs on containers. Employees had on masks and seemed to be thoroughly cleaning. My friend and I both ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and guacamole on it with a side of steak fries. I really enjoyed the chicken sandwich. It was tender and juicy and the toppings were a good mixture. The steak fries were good just wish they were a little more cooked. They changed the coffee and it was rich and flavorful, A few years back we were disappointed because we loved the food, atmosphere, location and service. After being a patron for 10 years : I'm giving up on them ( for good) Today at 10:00am the restaurant was not very busy so the kitchen was under no rush or stress at all, BUT when I received my Hash brown : their were undercooked ( again) /////:: far to be well done as requested //////// after telling the front of the house employee how I ordered them versus how I received them .. and of course because I eat them and don't complain right away they didn't do anything. I was hungry and the waitress asked me how the food was only at the end of my meal without even bringing us water to have with our meal ( by the way) I had no opportunity to let her know about my raw hash brown. I have tried and enjoyed the: chicken noodle, split pea (but with no ham), clam chowder, and beef barley. I am not a fan of the tomato-based stock soups. Who decided to stop offering chocolate cake and apple pie as dessert options? Are they Russian or Chinese communists? This is very un-American! The remaining desserts are horrible! Nice breakfast spot. Lots of menu options and the food is pretty good. Coffee is not the best but it's the standard bland kind you think of when you go to a diner. They do not offer any specialty coffee drinks. Service has been great every time I've come here. I generally like this place. It's basically a classier diner and you're guaranteed to be called "hun" at least once every visit. It may be a little over-priced but the food is generally pretty good. That said, I was really disappointed with today's experience. My family of five came in for breakfast around 10am. The restaurant was about half-full so not super busy. There were multiple mistakes in our order: no bacon, came with bacon; sub cheddar cheese, came with American cheese; Western omelet instead of farmer's. On a recent road trip, my husband and I stopped in here for an early Sunday morning breakfast. It was super convenient because it wasn't too far from the highway, they were open early and had what seemed to be a pretty good, albeit standard breakfast menu. It was very quiet when we visited, but it seems like the type of place that gets very busy during the usual times. The waitress was not overly friendly, but who is at 6:30 am on a weekend? She was however very prompt in taking and delivering our beverages and food and returned to refill coffee once or twice. I had the Harvest Skillet, which contained hash browns, veggies & cheese- I asked to have bacon subbed out for mushrooms (which was no problem at all) topped with 2 eggs over easy. It was filling and absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the Garden Omelette and was also very happy with his. We devoured every mouthful! My first review on Yelp and of course, it's negative. I ordered the Southwest Egg Rolls and the Michigan Harvest Salad. The egg rolls were good- no issue there. However, my salad had absolutely no grilled chicken. Grilled chicken is the first ingredient listed in the salad, so I'm a little baffled as to why it would be MIA. I've lived around the corner from this place my whole life. It has always been a solid go to for breakfast. I've had lunch and dinner as well and never had a bad experience. What I love most is the staff. They know my family, ask about my mother when she isn't with me etc...it is a really lovely experience. Harvest Moon Cafe is a little overlooked gem of a restaurant. It's one step up from the average diner, and offers a homey atmosphere, with shaded outdoor seating in nice weather. They advertise the restaurant as offering "homestyle country cooking," and that's what they deliver. It's located near the border between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, so it's a convenient drive for residents of both cities. Harvest Moon is a great stop for breakfast, especially a late breakfast on the weekend, with their fluffy, savory omelets, called "Mike's Mile High Omelettes." The French toast, pancakes, and other breakfast offerings are good as well. But skip the coffee-- it's only mediocre. If breakfast is the best meal of the day here, lunch is a close second. The cafe offers classic hot sandwiches, from the French Dip to "Knife and Fork" chili dogs. It also has a list of classic deli sandwiches. My favorite of the deli sandwiches is their version of a vegetarian Reuben sandwich, called the "Reubenesque." It's made with a vegetarian garden patty, sauer kraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing on rye bread. It's awesome with a side of fries. As a lighter option for lunch, try a Greek salad, either plain or topped with chicken or gyro meat. It's a nice touch that the dinner salads are all served with warm homemade bread and butter. For a more filling meal, the menu features "Homestyle Dinner Favorites" such as homemade turkey pot pie "Meatloaf of the Gods," and a "Thanksgiving Feast" meal of turkey breast, homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered corn, and cranberry sauce. I've always wanted to come to Harvest Moon and have a snack and a beer on the patio, but the pedestrian beer and wine menu has kept me from doing that. They only offer low-end wines and domestic beers like Miller and Bud. The most exotic beer on the menu is Amstel Light. We met from 3 different areas to go to this restaurant which was in the middle for all of us. I have several photos I hope you like them. The other couple even had a coupon for 9.99 for prime rib dinner!! Isn't that crazy? It was very good too! They said the prime rib was very moist and tasty, along with baked potato and a house salad! Again, i cannot say enough about the cleanliness of the restaurant and the bar and the bathrooms were also clean. The waitress was on the ball, very kind and jovial, cheerful and friendly! She was always around when needed. If it weren't for having to send my meal back I would've given this restaurant 5 stars! If I could give them 4.5 stars, I would do that! But this review should speak for itself because everything else was spectacular for a low price! Try it out, I don't think you'll be disappointed....it looked like the prime rib was pretty awesome for such a low price. The meatloaf they said was "out of this world" great! The waitress even told us when we were asking"what should we try"? She said that the reason she came to work there was because she loved their meatloaf so much! We eat at Harvest Moon for breakfast only. I always get a skillet or BLTE, and my husband gets a variety of omelets. We have never been disappointed in their quality. The food is always fresh, high quality and cooked well. We also like the ambiance, especially sitting at the bar. Sometimes the service is slow because they never staff the place with too many servers. Honey I'm Home! Loved the cozy feel and home-cooked food of this little nook. Coffee served hot, fresh and in a full size mug ( good for coffee snob like me). I had one of the breakfast skillets and it was perfect balance of hash browns, meat, onions and cheese... Eggs were delightful and fresh and my rye toast was balanced with butter plus the strawberry preserve was a pleasant surprise and great compliment to my meal. My wife and I ordered greek salads. She had fries, I had chili on the side. I will say the chili is one of the best I've had in Ann Arbor, and I'm currently on a mission to sample every diner chili in town. Meaty, with very nice balance of herb/onion/pepper/tomato flavors--not just "meat&heat." Salads were crisp, though the greek dressing was a little bland. Fries were good. Remember having a reuben there a few years back that was also quite good. If I got to this part of town more often I'd probably eat here more. Would give this 4 stars except for service.
