When I called again to check about a waitlist, I was directed to their website, but there was no option or details about joining a list. It was a busy weekend, and after some effort, we managed to find a street parking spot amid the downtown traffic. When we arrived, there were people waiting outside, and inside it was so crowded it was difficult to even reach the counter. I saw at least 3-5 groups leave after seeing the chaos. It seems popular, but I wouldn't prefer a place that handles customers like this. With the confusion and lack of clear guidance on seating, we ended up leaving and going somewhere else. We had the Carnitas Santa Fe (tons of complex and complimentary flavors and textures) and braised short rib Benny (special that was quite unique but not as complex as the carnitas). It was quite busy on a Sunday morning, but you can put your name on the waitlist via Yelp which works quite smoothly. Overall the foods pretty good--has an interesting menu and if you like pancakes there are a handful of options. On the smaller side so there can be a bit of a wait/tight but it is nicely decorated and bright. There are some parking lots nearby. At this location the service is not great-GP from what I remember was better. When we were seated it was taking 10-15+ minutes for someone to come for a water so we ended up leaving. Another time we went, the waitress only checked in for ordering the meal--we couldn't get refills on water or coffee from when she first sat us and the food, there were mistakes with the food we couldn't get fixed, and we had to order takeout at the bar because she never showed up again. We had to flag her down for the check and as we were in a corner tucked away it was difficult to get any servers attention. The french toast had a nice graham cracker crust on the outside and was also topped with fresh banana slices and berry compote. The Meat Lovers Skillet ($15 + $2 for cinnamon swirl pancakes) - This one is more of a traditional breakfast skillet with potatoes, ham, bacon, sausage, cheese, and two eggs. Definitely a good and delicious option for meat lovers like myself. It was really nice that you can also add your choice of specialty pancakes to go with this for only $2 extra. I chose the cinnamon swirl pancakes, which were nice and fluffy, although didn't have too much cinnamon flavor. There was also a nice dollop of cream on top of the pancakes. I thought the prices here were very reasonable and the food was good value considering the portion sizes. I liked the environment here, as it is casual with a combo of traditional and modern decor (ex: exposed brick wall by the bar to go with modern lighting and brunchy decor). There is definitely a strong University of Michigan vibe in the restaurant too, unsurprisingly given the proximity to the university. There was a handful of tables still open for weekend brunch when we arrived. Our waitress was average friendliness and the service speed was pretty fast. This year we decided to go out and dine in at the beautiful Ann Arbor location to celebrate my daughter turning sixteen !! We've been going to Jagged Fork for years, and overall, the restaurant is great. But the Ann Arbor location continues to be a disappointment when it comes to one specific item: the Cloud Nine Crêpes. We've complained many times--over the course of the past two years--and nothing has changed. Every time we order this dish at the Ann Arbor location, they barely put any of the strawberry-flavored cream cheese inside the crêpes. You end up with an almost empty crêpe that's missing the key component that makes the dish so good. Even worse, if you ask for more, they charge you extra for a side of the filling--something no other Jagged Fork location does. West Bloomfield, for example, always serves the crêpes with a generous amount of the cream cheese filling, as it should be. It's incredibly frustrating and feels like the Ann Arbor location is cutting corners and taking advantage of customers. I really missed the PB & J oatmeal - bring it back! It was one of the best restaurant-oatmeal's I've had. Sadly no longer an option. Instead I ordered the guacamole toast, topped with scrambled egg rather than poached. It was good, just not quite what I'd wanted. The other change: you used to be able to order a mix of large pancakes. Now you can order "mini stacks" - much smaller, but they do cost less. My husband ordered a blueberry lemon pancake with his veggie omelette. A+ on presentation. I had a couple bites and it tasted yummy, too.
