I came here on a Sunday morning with my friend around 10:30 and the ambience was really great. I love the way that they set up the interior decor. I will say that the first level is a lot more elegant, compared to the second level. I don't really like how the first level is reserve reserved for boots for large parties of people because my friend and I were seated on the upper level and the ambience is not as great as it was below. Now, in terms of the food, I will say that the food was delicious. The food was a little bit cold when I came out to us but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be that way. We ordered the egg white omelette and I had a really great combination platter of tomatoes, cheddar, and white eggs. We also ordered the bang bang shrimp, which we honestly prefer preferred compared to the eggs because the shrimp was very flavorful and the crispy rice on the bottom was to die for. The food was also very filling. In terms of service, they have college students that are servers. Our server was all right. I wouldn't say that he went above and beyond. We ask for hot chili sauce with our food and the waiter brought out normal hot sauce, so I'm sure there was a misunderstanding there in terms of going above and beyond. But it wasn't bad. All in all, I would give it a nine out of 10 for the food, 10 out of 10 for the ambience and the Service 7/10. read more

Fantastic!! Very cool atmosphere, friendly staff and really good food. I ordered the salmon poke bowl. I was worried it would be sweet... but it was ao tasty! Salmon sashimi, red onions, with cool cucumbers, green apples and microgreens with dressing with just the right balance of heat and sesame all on top of perfectly cooked rice. My hubby got the double amash burger and is so quiet because he ia busy enjoying the burger. The IPA with his burger was really nice... yes I tried it! I love living close to Ann Arbor so I can check out all the great spots to eat. Sava has been on my list for quite some time. I was in the area and stopped in for a quick bite. I stopped in for a quick eat during happy hour while staying in town. I sat at the bar, and the restaurant was buzzing with a mix of young and middle aged professionals. Under the bartenders suggestion, I went with the bang bang shrimp. It is something they are known for and I've had a similar dish at a chain restaurant, I was intrigued. This bang bang shrimp is served on a slice crispy rice, toast with spicy sweet sauce. I can say it was a joy to eat. I also selected the fried green beans. I really enjoyed these as they were not coated in a batter of anything, and were truly fried green beans with a garlic soy like marinade. I plan to return on my next visit to Ann Arbor! read more

Sava's has been a mainstay in Ann Arbor since 2007. The interior is elegant, and notably has two levels. The cuisine is primarily American, but there are some Mediterranean options, as well. It's also worth mentioning that brunch takes place on Sundays. The fried dill pickles are a simple, but great way to start a meal. The half order of the mac & cheese is another great option. It's baked with 4 cheeses and topped with bread crumbs. As for entrees, Sava's burger is legit. The dijonaise and shallots on it are what stood out to me the most. Although they don't come with the burger, I recommend ordering the shoestring fries. I've also had the lamb shank. This is the most expensive dish on the menu, but it's worth it. The lentil ragout and veggies the lamb is served with compliment it so well. The dessert menu occasionally rotates. I've tried the raspberry pot de crème and the blueberry cheesecake. The bites of the pot de crème with raspberry were significantly better than the ones without. As for the cheesecake, its fluffy texture was the highlight. I came here with a few friends for a birthday. We had a couple rounds of drinks which were $12-15 each which I've learned is on the pricey side for Michigan, but they were decent. Service was extremely nice and the inside was modern and clean. I got the Sava's burger and it was really delicious, the fries were very thin and just alright. My friend got the capellini marlon and thought it was great yet heavy. My other friend got the lamb ragout and we weren't expecting a pasta, but the lamb was delicious. We bought a cheesecake for dessert for the bday girl which was very sweet but good. We all agreed that the food was decent, and I wasn't impressed with how they celebrated my friend's bday. No singing, free dessert, writing on the cake, which is fine but just left me wanting more. Overall: nice upscale place for dinner with decent food and drinks on the pricier side. A Truly Memorable Experience at Sava's We brought our aunt here while she was visiting from out of town, and it was such a great choice. From start to finish, the service and food were top-tier. Our server Laura was phenomenal -- warm, attentive, and gave some of the best menu suggestions we've had in a while, she truly added to the experience. Appetizer: We started with the Bang Bang Shrimp -- WOW. That crispy sweet rice underneath paired with the shrimp and sauce? Absolute perfection. I could totally see this as a brunch dish with a shrimp & grits-style twist. Drinks: I had the Beldam of Barbados -- refreshing, light, and perfectly balanced. My husband had The Connoisseur -- a rich, cozy bourbon + coffee cocktail with no dairy, which we loved. So many coffee drinks default to cream, but this one let the bold flavors shine on their own. Our aunt had the Harvester -- citrusy, light, and really easy to enjoy. Entrées: My husband and I both had the Filet Mignon -- tender, juicy, and flavorful. The zip sauce really elevated it, and the grilled asparagus and smashed potatoes were a great pairing. Our aunt had the Capellini Marlon -- large shrimp and great flavor, but it did need more sauce (which they brought right away). She also wished a roll or ciabatta was offered alongside. Dessert: We ended with the Oreo Cheesecake -- and listen, I don't even usually eat dessert... but THIS? Incredible. The chocolate glaze and Oreo crust were on point. My friend made a reservation for us on Sunday afternoon and good thing - it was hopping in there! There are two levels and an outdoor area, with lots of fresh flowers and cool art on the walls. We didn't have to wait at all and ordered fairly quickly. Our server was amazing; she memorized our order exactly with no mistakes and the food came out hot and quick. We got the labneh and granola to share - the honey on there made this super delicious!! I ordered a breakfast plate with scrambled eggs (yummy but covered in chives - if I would have known that, I would have ordered them without), bacon (crisp and delicious), hash browns (sooo good; crunchy and well seasoned) and sourdough toast. While I did enjoy the food, I felt the wait staff and high prices were a deterrent for me returning, especially considering the portions that we were given. My wife wanted to come back here to celebrate our anniversary and I wasn't too excited, but kept an open mind. Well I'm glad we gave it another chance because I throughly enjoyed this dinner. Between the pastas, salads, appetizers and desserts we felt like we got a well rounded and satisfying meal. It was still pretty expensive, but between the improved wait staff and exploring more of what the menu offered it definitely made me feel better about the experience. I didn't take any pictures but I really enjoyed my dining experience at Sava's. I ate here with a colleague on my last night in Ann Arbor. It was a quick walk from our hotel and she'd made us a reservation that they allowed us to move up when we decided we wanted to dine a little earlier than originally scheduled. The restaurant is inviting and spacious enough to not cause a long wait to get a table. Our waitress was engaging and attentive, and our food and drinks came out without a long wait. For me, the best item was the friend green beans. I was skeptical but they were like pan seared with a sauce that took them over the top. As an entree, I ordered the Cobb salad with salmon added. The salmon lacked seasoning, so I wouldn't try that again. My biggest critique is that the per glass price on wines is high. read more

The overall vibe was really cool with multiple levels, huge booths, and a lot of metal visible. It felt hip but classy. Our server was very knowledgable and attentive. The top items I would recommend would be the mac and cheese, beets, and any of the salads. We made reservations and were 10 mins late trying to figure out parking, etc. We called the restaurant to give them a heads up and all was good. Once we got there, the hostess was so nice. We were running short of time because of getting to the restaurant late and needing to get to the comedy club. We let our server know and she was so accommodating. We started with cocktails. I got the bouquet ole, which is a drink for 2 or 4. I thought it would be fine getting the drink for 2, but it felt like it was a drink for 8! Heavy on juice and mixes, but not on tequila. It was a really pretty drink too. I probably would have gotten the tequila on the side to balance out the tequila to mix better. For food, we started off with the tuna tartare. Excellent! For dinner, we got the honey chili salmon and the green goddess salad with salmon. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted great! The portions were great too. Same owners as the Dixboro House. As an alum from Michigan, Sava's was always a favorite of mine in undergrad and it did not disappoint as an alum. The smash burger is a 10/10 every single time with the sweet potato fries. From the manager, Medina, and her amazing hospitality, to sitting at the bar and getting 10/10 service from Bailey, I was so grateful for such a warm welcome home. The menu had so many great options. The bang bang shrimp was delicious as well as the spinach dip with very tasty chip crisps. For my main, I had the panini and opted for the vegetarian preparation which was great. Split a mac and cheese between us which was also great. We were seated on the second floor which was nice being a little more secluded and being able to look down at the amazing bar. We had an incredibly disappointing and uncomfortable experience at Sava's and will not be returning especially as parents of young children. From the moment we walked in, we were not greeted by the host staff, which set the tone for the rest of the visit. Our server, Bella, never mentioned a kids' menu, so we unknowingly ordered a full-priced adult meal for our 3-year-old. Our food took a while to arrive, but in fairness, we did take a bit of time ordering. The most upsetting part of our visit came when an unhoused man was allowed into the restaurant and approached our table. At first, we thought he might be a regular or even an employee saying hi to our baby, which isn't uncommon. But he got far too close uncomfortably so and began interacting with our toddler. I told him he was too close, but he didn't back off. During this, I frantically looked around for staff no one acknowledged what was happening or intervened. He eventually moved to another table, and only then did someone from the host stand inform the manager, who had him removed. When the check came, we told Bella what happened. Instead of apologizing, she said she thought we knew the man. I explained he had touched my child and asked for hand sanitizer, which I didn't have on me. She said she'd "look" and would speak to her manager. Manager Jose did come over and apologize, saying the man was gone, but the incident had already happened. Nothing was taken off our bill, and no real attempt was made to make things right. As parents, this was deeply unsettling. We've never felt the need to write a review like this, but others especially those with small children deserve to know. We will not be returning to Sava's. Parents, beware. read more

Sava's delivers incredible food and great atmosphere. The service, from all staff, was absolutely stellar. They're all welcoming and our server provided excellent recommendations after first understanding any dietary restrictions and preferences. The Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer is one of the best I've ever had; it is very unique in that it had no breading on the shrimp but is instead served on small squares of seared/seasoned rice with a delicious sauce drizzled on top. Equally notable was the Roasted Beets appetizer; bright, fresh, and flavorful. Entrees were all amazing, with a special shout out to the the Capellini Marlon (recommended by our server)!
