Friendly staff, a few tables inside for seating, and lots of pastries to choose from. I tried the strawberry crumble slice and a little of the lobster tail. The strawberry crumble slice was too sweet for me and cakey (I usually prefer pies so next time I want to try one of their tarts). The lobster tail was quite crunchy and unique. Flavor was ok. I had to update my review to include their subs- I LOVE them! They're so good! Their bread is fantastic. I get the Caprese Sub and it's amazing. I've always had a great experience here, too! So disappointed! If you're going through the trouble of baking something like a lobster tail, at least make your own filling. The canned Bavarian cream ruined them. It ruined the eclairs as well. I'd already been a big fan of Luca Pastry's Canton location so I was very excited to see they were opening here in Ann Arbor! I finally had the occasion to visit this past weekend when getting a birthday cake for my mom. I easily placed my cake order online (lemon raspberry) and added in the cannoli dip to bring to the celebratory dinner as well. When I arrived the next morning I was impressed with their newly opened space. It's big and spacious for a bakery and the "build your own" cannoli bar was so fun! They kindly asked me if I had wanted them to write anything on the cake. I thought about it and realized a lovely happy birthday message would be great and they quickly wrote it out. While I waited for that I drooled over all the delicious looking pastries and cake slices available and ultimately grabbed myself an eclair to go (it's kind of like a breakfast donut, right?) and they packed up my cake and cannoli dip and I was quickly on my way. The eclair was delicious. Everyone raved about the cake, and OMG the cannoli dip was a HUGE hit. It's so simple but so brilliant. Just a box of their cannoli shell chips and a container of their ricotta chocolate chip filling. We put it out with the appetizers and most everyone with for that over the fancy meats and cheeses also available. It'll be hard not get that every time I visit in the future! Holy moley cannoli! They have one of the better cannoli I have tried. Smooth filling, crunchy undersweetened exterior, mini dark chocolate chips... I came here to try the cake slices, but it was the incidentally bought cannoli that blew me away. The strawberry mousse in the Neapolitan cake slice is also good. I have only been here once so I will update when I have tried it more over time. Cakes 4-4.5/5. Next time I will try one of the cakes with cannoli filling as I did really like that. Parking in that strip mall (parallel to Washtenaw) is annoying and it is always crowded (even during the U of M game), but free. Around rush hour there can be huge backups (it's parallel to Washtenaw, and close to the entrance to US 23). read more

Luca Pastry just opened a new location in Ann Arbor. They have a wide array of desserts, including macarons, cakes (available whole and by the slice), cookies, and a cannoli bar. The speciality cannoli come in a wide variety of flavors, and I'm glad to have an option for Italian-style desserts in the area now. I tried the cannoli cake ($4/slice) and the tiramisu ($4/slice). The cannoli cake was very sweet and rich, especially the ricotta cannoli filling inside, and tasted artificial---it honestly reminded me of grocery store cake. I preferred the tiramisu, which had a good amount of coffee and was not as sweet as the cannoli cake. Their other desserts may also be better than the cannoli cake, and I'm planning to try more of their products. My friend who's still in Ann Arbor told me that everyone around him has been hyping up Luca Pastry. So we went this past Sunday in the afternoon to give it a try. There's a few bar stools to sit at, but overall, it's more of a buy and leave kind of shop. I got an Almond Joy cookie (the cost is by weight of the item) which was a bit too sweet for my liking but had a lot of coconut flakes which I liked. For 1.17, the price is good for a freshly baked cookie, but I don't think I would get it again. My friend got a slice of the cannoli cake and he thought it was just OK. Maybe we need to get something else next time because both of us weren't very impressed. read more

Holy wow of sugar mecca!!! They have three full cases of irresistible sugary dreams. They have entire cakes, macaroons the size of my palm, cake slices, cupcakes, pastries, cookies, and a build your own cannoli bar. I didn't know where to start and was tempted to put on a blindfold and play the ultimate game of pin the tail on the donkey, where my blindfolded self would randomly choose the sweet confection of my dreams. I stood at the counter in rapture for awhile and finally went with a chocolate covered cannoli and 4 coconut macarons (not to be confused with the marshmallow sandwich type). I have resolved myself to try a slice of cake next time. Anything with their Bavarian cream is a must! So far those would be the Bavarian lobstertail, eclair and fruit tart, with the Bavarian lobstertail being my absolute favorite. It's shatteringly crispy while being offset by the not too sweet and rich cream. I also tried their mini cheesecakes thinking they were cupcakes but I don't typically love cheesecake to begin with, so I didn't enjoy those as much but that was more my fault than theirs. If you are looking for beautiful Italian pastry and treats, this certainly is the place. We stopped here to pick up some desserts for dinner. And something to snack on immediately as it is hard to resist when you see the house made goodies in the cases. They were serving several customers but kept track of each order perfectly and answered questions too. Several people came in for coffees too. They even customized one item for me to better meet my needs. Our package included some cream filled items, some cookies, and other varieties, the cases are very full. The were many large cakes available, well decorated, but it also seems that they do custom work also. And they take catering orders. Such a varied selection should not be missed. read more

Luca Pastry is one of the best bakeries in Ann Arbor - the cakes are really really good with reasonable pricing. The cakes, whether you get a single slice or an entire cake, are very generously portioned. I think the standout flavors I've tried so far are the Cookies and Cream cake (the frosting and spongecake are amazing) and the Chocolate Canoli Cake, which has a layer of canoli filling in it. I tried a piece of the chocolate peanut butter cake but to be honest it didn't really taste like peanut butter at all. I am thinking of getting a canoli tray for my work this holiday season. The prices seem a lot more reasonable than Zingermans for about the same quality (plus you get more than Zingermans). read more

The lobster tail is a must try here!!!! I always get one when I stop by Luca's. It's a very flaky and buttery pastry shaped like a lobster tail, filled to the brim with Bavarian cream, and topped with powdered sugar. There are days the lobster tail is sold out because of how delicious and popular it is. The cake slices are also tasty, I love the raspberry lemon and chocolate cakes. The eclair is also one of my favorites to get here. Luca's also does custom cakes if you want to design something special for an occasion.
