Then there was another Yelp opportunity at Homestead to try its different cake flavors. There is a cute room next to the bakery just for events like tea time. The buttercream at Homestead is some of the best I've ever had. It's light but still rich and buttery. I will order from here if I ever need a cake for a special event. Since those two Yelp events, I've been back to the bakery several times to try its cupcakes and savory items, like the dill soup, which is so delicious and comes with cornbread. I'd love to see more savory meals offered. One drawback is that Homestead has limited hours which is why I've only been back several times. Walk-in hours right now are Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 9am-3pm. The rest of the time it's open for special events and orders made in advance which you can do on its website. Also, you can only order one flavor of cupcake on the website, not a variety of flavors. It would be nice to see more flavors offered like the buttercream flavors I tried at the Yelp event as well as expanded hours for the bakery.

The other treats, such as the cake and doughnuts, don't even taste GF, especially good for those starting their GF journey. Things that need to be improved: 1. $18 for a sandwich?! Either make it $15, or add a drink and/or side. Though the sandwich was the perfect GF meal on my long drive, the price vs value needs some consideration. I can easily go to Jimmy John's and get an Unwich for about half that price. 2. Freshness of product. Purchased a cherry cake slice, and part of me wishes I didn't. Definitely tasted old, like it should be sold at 50% off or not sold at all. Though I can tell from it their cakes are probably lovely, the lack of freshness was a turn off. 3. Doughnut choices: labeled matcha vanilla, though if you blindfolded me, I would say they tasted just like vanilla. Was it a good vanilla doughnut? Yes. But I bought it for the matcha, which was not visually present. Also shouldn't have to purchase 6 doughnuts! I am one person. 4. Ingredients. They have so many different options to choose from, and even have a 1/2 off section for great deals on desserts and bakery items. My first visit I went with some donuts, a cheese danish and some cherry cupcakes. I was pleasantly surprised with how fresh the danish tasted and how affordable so many different products are. I look forward to continue stopping in here multiple times a month to keep trying new things and enjoying the ambiance of the store.

I actually thought it was better than my wedding cake was. Moist cake, beautiful design. One thing I really appreciated was that the frosting wasn't super sugary sweet. You know how sometimes there is so much sugar in the frosting that it almost feels granular in your mouth? Not here. Smooth, creamy frosting that was pleasantly sweet without being cloying. Their prices are very fair for the quality you get. I have purchased cheaper cakes from grocery stores or Costco that have been okay, but its funny how half of the cake ends up in the trash. Those cheaper cakes come no where close to matching the quality that you get from Le'cakery - and every single bite was finished. There was no cake in the garbage two days later.
