The previous location, tho very adorable, was often difficult to get to (on Main Street smack dab between the main drag of downtown and the M-14 on ramp which made visiting tough during peak traffic times) and small for things like classes and the like. This new spot is not just bigger for them behind the scenes (you can see their production space via the window next door) but there's a large lobby for both showcasing their beautiful cake work and also for classes which they host regularly on the weekends. I've taken classes on both the older location and in this new space and I have to say this new space is much roomier and easier to work in than the previous spot. And the classes are so well organized and I've learned so much. Even if you're not an experienced cake or cookie decorator it's a blast as Heather and her team make the projects accessible for every skill level. You also walk away with some delicious treats and some really useful worksheets and instructions (I still use the royal icing recipe I received in a class I took 7 years ago). Speaking of delicious treats, they've also opened back up their walk-in dessert counter once a month so you can stop in to pick up cake slices or cookies (the chocolate brownie cookies are SO good). And for special occasions you can also pre-order one of their signature designed cakes on their website for pick up that weekend. Cake options come in a variety of trendy decor choices, from frilly vintage piping with glittered cherries, to pressed flowers or watercolor painting on the sides. All the designs and flavors are perfect for a birthday, anniversary, or even a small intimate wedding. I recently went to a wedding that went this route and instead of getting a tall tiered cake they had several of the Sweet Heather Anne signature layer cakes on a dessert table. It was beautiful! And more affordable and convenient than a custom design. That said, if you're looking to splurge on a fancy design they can also hook that up! One look in their storefront will have you wishing you had a special occasion to book one of these incredible cakes for. I love just coming in and admiring their beauty! We're so lucky to have such a nationally renowned bakery in town and even more lucky that they offer a variety of accessible options no matter what you're looking for!

We ordered a peanut butter and chocolate croissant which was basically a chocolate croissant with peanut butter custard filling. It truthfully tasted more like regular custard than a peanut butter flavor. We also tried a crème brûlée cruffin - a croissant muffin filled with crème brûlée custard with a burnt sugar glaze. It was tasty but a little messy to eat. We also tried the monkey bread which was probably my favorite item. And we tried a cream cheese croissant that had an everything bagel type topping. All the offerings are somewhat unique and well-crafted but the prices are on the high side. They do offer a day old pastry bag for $10 that has 3 items. Sadly, the quality of the day old items was definitely not as good as the fresh items. All in all, worth a stop, but not quite as good as the best patisseries around metro Detroit.

This is a small bakery inside a catering company and they're only open limited hours on Fridays and Saturdays and I'm happy I was able to go on Saturday. When I arrived I was informed they had just been cleaned out of most bake goods but they did have pop tarts! Yay! They had 3 flavors, strawberry, blueberry lilac and a raspberry flavor. I got the strawberry and blueberry. They had a few other things and some savory items that looked good but I was focused on what I purchased. They were everything I expected (only tried strawberry) so far but I'm sure the blueberry will be very good as well. Very flaky, not too much filling and just the right amount of frosting. I will return earlier the next time I go so i can try out some of the other items.

Then there was another Yelp opportunity at Homestead to try its different cake flavors. There is a cute room next to the bakery just for events like tea time. The buttercream at Homestead is some of the best I've ever had. It's light but still rich and buttery. I will order from here if I ever need a cake for a special event. Since those two Yelp events, I've been back to the bakery several times to try its cupcakes and savory items, like the dill soup, which is so delicious and comes with cornbread. I'd love to see more savory meals offered. One drawback is that Homestead has limited hours which is why I've only been back several times. Walk-in hours right now are Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 9am-3pm. The rest of the time it's open for special events and orders made in advance which you can do on its website. Also, you can only order one flavor of cupcake on the website, not a variety of flavors. It would be nice to see more flavors offered like the buttercream flavors I tried at the Yelp event as well as expanded hours for the bakery.

This is a place we have had in our radar, but we somehow have not made it in for what's seems like…read morean eternity. More than not our hours have not aligned, or we have been just too busy with life. My fiancé used to take her kids there 15-20 years ago, but also got sidetracked by life's challenges. We drove by today taking our pup for a walk and noticed the front of the building was damaged, so with that, noticing the open sign was on and we had no plans, we made it a point to stop in and see what they had to offer. They have an amazing assortment of treats, bumpy cakes, strudel's, cookies, flavored pretzel sticks, eclairs with their famous custard filling, lattes and smoothies, and they also make custom cakes. We purchased some cookies, a lemon bar, bumpy came, orange creamsicle and the famous eclair! Everything looks phenomenal. We also found out that a car had slammed in to their building on Father's Day while they were inside filling custom cake orders. Thank goodness nobody was injured. This is a local gem, so get out and support them. I know they will truly appreciate the business.
