The bird dog Bakery exemplifies what truly amazing bread can be! I purchased three bakes items all amazing. Small drip coffee with a house made cardamom syrup. The scone is ginger apricot, and it is absolutely exquisite. The outside texture is crunchy and sweet and buttery. The inside texture is dense and moist. The apricots are moist and very generous. There is a great distribution of flavor throughout the scone and I dare say this may be the best scone I've ever had in the United States. It taste like the apricot is Turkish and the flour is a very high-quality. I don't get an overpowering sense from the ginger, but it's just there enough to give it a little extra zest. if you're looking for some amazing baked goods this place is where it's at. The interior dining space is a little bit on the cold and draft side and the chairs are very rigid so I wouldn't say it's a comfortable hang out, but I would definitely say stop in and get your bread and then go eat it somewhere comforting.

First time here I really just wanted a cup of coffee a delicious pastry and someplace quiet to read. Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Coffee was really good. The crab/oat/chocolate chip cookie was buttery and yummy (I could have eaten 2) A pretty little spot inside. I'll come back on a weekday. I want to try the sourdough!!

Wow was this place busy! We grabbed some food and drinks to go. I had the sourdough toast with cream cheese and pepper- yum! My son had a breakfast sandwich and enjoyed it. The Americano was good - had a bit of a fruity aftertaste which I don't personally love. My son had a chai latte and liked it. Next time I think I would grab a loaf to go!

I've been trying to get one of these for months, every time they are sold out by 9 am, and I don't get up early enough. I think it's strange if you sell out by 9 everyday and you're a bakery it seems to me why wouldn't you make twice as many. Bread is good but business practice makes no sense to me. Any ways I'm not an avacado toast guy but this everything thing is pretty darn good. If you're downtown ypsi and can find parking I would check this place out.

Updating my review as Bird Dog has officially opened their brick & mortar space! It's on the other side of their Sunday brunch pick up window so no need to travel far. I stopped by on Friday afternoon & they were sold out of everything except 2 loaves of bread and a slice of rye tea cake. I promptly ordered the Rye Tea Cake (A true whole-grain cake with the earthy flavors of rye shining through. Made with 100% whole, local, stone-milled rye flour.) It's a favorite of mine that I'll get around town at places like Argus Farm Stop. I also ordered their house masala chai to pair with my rye tea cake slice. They roast the spices in house + a black tea + sweetened with brown sugar. Very tasty - would definitely get again! I'll be back for brunch now that there's ample seating!

One of Ypsilanti's hidden gems! Greats service and wonderful Fresh baked breads. My favorite is the YpsiSour, a must! And the coffee is just as good!

I've been a fan of theirs for years but this is the first time I've been to their new store front. We went for brunch on Mother's Day and we weren't disappointed. My daughter had the Avocado Toast and I had the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a Bialy. Both were really good. I also had a latte with cardamom syrup. So good! They are located in half of the old Dalat space, but the inside has been updated and looks great now. People were friendly and we got our food and drinks quickly.

Loved Bird Dog! They have a limited menu, but it seems well crafted. Prices are very fair with several of the gourmet toasts being $4-$5. I got the avocado toast and it was really good. The sourdough was the perfect text, the togarashi was a unique and welcome addition and went perfectly with the avocado and the walkup window was fun! Like a speakeasy bakery!

Rhubarb scone- not much rhubarb and super crunchy

Ypsilanti is turning out to be the place to go for the best baked goods and coffee- Bird Dog Baking is a lovely addition! I tried the rhubarb scone- it was way too crunchy in my opinion and could have knocked out a tooth, yikes! I'm more familiar with scones being a softer cake-like or flaky scone. The coffee is great (they use Hyperion coffee), and their rye tea cakes and oatmeal cookies are super tasty. Their staff is great and will bring your coffee out to you if you're sitting down.

Good mocha and clean vibes! The barista was super nice and the employees seemed happy to be there. They close kind of early in the day though

Bird Dog drive up at 10 am Sunday. The line didn't start until 10:15 am

OMG Ypsi has so needed this place. What am I saying Washtenaw has needed this for years. (yes this is the view from another homesick California native.) I just discovered it today on a walk, had to return home for a credit card and drive back because they don't have tap-to-pay yet but it was still worth it. I got the Bialy egg sandwich which was pretty perfect. scrambled egg, bacon, baby greens and a cheese sauce (?) on an everything Bialy. Everything was cooked perfect. No microwave used here. I also grabbed a baguette for home, which looks so good it may not last until tomorrow. Brunch walk up is only on Sundays starting at 10 am, but you can preorder your bread on their website and pick up on Saturday or Sunday

The case was absolutely gorgeous - filled with both yeast and cake donuts as well as this ham and cheese filled pretzel that I had read about and an amazing looking sticky bun. I was trying to get to work so I didn't have time to take a lot of photos. I chose the cake, chocolate covered donut, and the ham and cheese stuffed pretzel. I have no picture of this donut because I ate it in the car on the way to work because I just couldn't stand it. It was phenomenal. Of course a cake donut has a different texture than a yeast doughnut And it was soft yet cakey. I thought the chocolate icing was amazing. It was a little sweet, but I loved that about it. There are tables inside and a couple tables outside but as it is 29° I didn't sit outside. I jumped in my car and ate my donut on the way to work. The woman behind the counter said she is one of the owners, but I didn't get her name. I am bad. But she was lovely and just so kind.

They ran out of the Maple glazed when I came so I got the Bear Claw, Apple Fritter, and decided to try their Cinnamon Roll that was more flaky. It's always so hard choosing because everything looks amazing!! Service is great and the young lady was very friendly. Everything tasted fantastic and that flaky Cinnamon Roll had a great sweet and buttery flavor!! I still prefer the glazed but it was good! They thankfully had parking but it was pretty full around 10:30am and they had lots of dine-ins!!

For my daughter's birthday I needed assistance as I was recovering from surgery. I searched local bakeries after first trying my favorites I've used in the past and discovering they were both out of business. I looked for something local and read all about taste your dreams and it sounded right. We ordered sugar cookies decorated with Royal icing as well as chocolate fudge filled chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting and some edible decor. Nut allergies were a concern for some of our guests. The theme was unicorns! We discussed decor and flavors, I gave some sketches of our ideas for decor and taste your dreams handled the rest. She delivered to our doorstep and was very thorough during the entire process about what would work best given all of our preferences and ideas. She also explained when I asked what would be the best way to store the items based on their ingredients up until the time of the party.

She made a 3 layer chocolate/oreo cake with vegan buttercream frosting, along with picture perfect decorations (my wife is recently very into gardening, see the beautiful flowers in the attached photo), and all guests at the party agreed - it was absolutely delicious! Vegan desserts can occasionally be too sweet, but this cake was exactly the right level of sweetness, and we couldn't believe how moist it was. Simply divine! Communication was also terrific, and she even delivered to our house the morning of my wife's birthday - can't say enough good things, look no further for your baked needs!
