I will say that I was a bit disappointed with the Breakfast Burrito because though it was recommended by many reviews, I found it a little bland due to the large amount of hash browns and little cheese given. I did add a bunch of salsa and cream cheese to the burrito, but I just wish they were less stingy with how much cheese they added. Funnily, though I read certain reviews that the pastas were dry and not very good, I thought my friend's penne vodka pasta tasted great! I've always held aMa Bistro in the highest ranks, I love their menu and I used to love the customer service. I had a not so pleasant visit about a month ago and I haven't returned since. Service started off normally but my waitress wouldn't make eye contact with me at all. I tried to look past it and then when I received my bill, she dropped the clipboard that the receipt is attached to on the table, not even looking at me, and just walking away. The experience just continued to get worse and I just got overall very bad vibes from the waitress. I was respectful the whole service and I understand that everyone has those days when they're not feeling it, but I felt unappreciated, especially being that I was a regular here. She seemed very kind with everyone else but in a way, ignored me. Again, the food was great but the service left a horrible taste in my mouth. Don't see myself walking back in here. read more

I've heard a lot about the breakfast at aMa for many years, so when I found myself in Ann Arbor for an event on a Sunday morning, it was the perfect opportunity to give it a try. We arrived at 11 AM on a Sunday morning and it was hopping, but we only had to wait a few minutes for a table. Our server was very friendly and attentive and shared some suggestions from the menu. I opted for the smoked salmon benedict which was delicious. My wife had the spinach benedict and thought it was great. My daughter chose the "Big Breakfast" and it definitely lived up to its name! This is my go to brunch spot in Ann Arbor! It has delicious food and a very aesthetic interior. Parking is a little hard to find because there is not a lot of street parking but there is some street parking and a relatively close parking structure. Service can be kind of slow but it's usually because it's very busy! My favorite thing to get usually is the breakfast burrito which is delicious. Recently I went for lunch and got the turkey and pesto panini and my dad ordered the chicken Alfredo and it further affirmed to me that there is no bad item to order here! The portions are really large and it's really easy to take home leftovers. The sandwich was really well assembled and the layers of flavor complemented each other very well. I also appreciated the fact that it came with a side salad also had yummy toppings like tomatoes, cucumbers, and cheese. It's better than most salads you order as appetizers at other restaurants. Living one block away from Ama's, I come here quite often and usually on Saturday or Sunday for brunch. Food (4/5): I had the traditional mama's breakfast with eggs, sausage, hash browns, and toast. This was a very filling and delicious meal. The sausage was a little bit overcooked; however, this didn't take away from the overall dish. My friend had the Perfect Burger lunch. She said the burger was cooked well, but was a little bit on the greasy side. It was a messy burger but they got the medium rare right. Fries were pretty standard. She also got the strawberry shake, which had a good consistency - not too thick. The strawberry flavor was subtle but tasty. Service (2/5): The service left much to be desired. Our waitress kept forgetting about our order and we felt like we had to chase her down to remind her of our order and refills on coffee. When she forgot our order, she gave off a negative attitude. Typical diner in downtown Ann Arbor. I can tell they get their traffic from students, because it was pretty dead when we went now that students are gone for the summer. We were seated immediately for lunch and it was pretty dead in there - maybe 2 other parties. Our server was sweet and answered questions about the menu for us, but there were some things on the menu for certain items that are worded in a confusing way. I ordered the spinach & feta omelette, but with egg whites and it was pretty good. Nothing super earth shattering or memorable about it. It came with fruit, which was fresh and ripe. I don't know that I would $10.50 for an egg white omelette, but maybe that's just Ann Arbor for you. Their menu is pretty nice, though, with healthier options, classic diner dishes and even a few Albanian items that are unique (and sound tasty!). It's a good spot for a quick lunch or breakfast, and they do have takeout and are also on sites like Mr. Delivery and GrubHub so you could definitely order them to go if you want. Since we needed to spend $20, we also ordered mozzarella sticks. It came on a bed of spinach and my friend is allergic to spinach, they said they would make her three new mozzarella sticks which was very nice of them (a serving was 6 and we had planned on splitting it). The decor and everything is nice too, this is the space where Mr. Greek's used to be. Based on this experience, I would come back here when I wanted a sandwich or a quick lunch. I came in here looking for Coney Island and breakfast food. Unfortunately, they don't serve breakfast all day. Fortunately, she said omelets and the Traditional Mama's dish are available all day. I ordered the Veggie Omelet without cheese. It was an average omelet. The hash browns that came with it were not quite fried enough and were very bland, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be. I also ordered the freshly squeezed orange juice. While I did see fresh oranges being put in the juicer, I also spotted a gallon jug of orange juice, so I don't think all of it is freshly squeezed. According to their website, they are open 24/7. This should be fun. The renovations are nice and are definitely a step up from Coney Island's previous deco. read more
