I'm a repeat diner at Harvest, and was excited when a business trip brought me here again. I had tried the Pumpkin Pear Soup in October 2011 and was thinking about it all year. I was psyched to get to have it again! The restaurant is part of the Hotel Hershey and as such, is part of a very high class experience for travelers and shouldn't be missed. Normally, the food is very good, service is excellent. There is a downside to my most recent visits. I had dinner here on 10/24/12 and lunch the following day, 10/25/12. As other recent reviewers pointed out, the food was over salted. All of the meals at our table were heavily salted, from salads, to soups, to entrees. This was a very unwelcome surprise. Three of our party could not eat their meal, including me. One of our party was eight and a half months pregnant and her food was salted to the point of being ridiculous. Not good if you're in that condition! Our server comped us half off the entrees because of it. We were told by our server that they have two new cooks (not chefs) in the kitchen who are both heavy smokers and cannot taste the food well enough, so they tend to over salt. I don't know if this is the case or not, but it should be rectified immediately. That's not an excuse. It's shameful for a restaurant of this calibre. I gave my feedback to the server, who must have passed it along to the manager on duty, who came over to our table and promptly did...nothing. She offered no comps, or apology. Only the server offered that for us. So, a restaurant that has the capability to be great has become average in a very short time. I was going to make reservations for my wife and I to go back next week, but I'm thinking that I'll just skip Harvest for a while. It's a shame that something as simple as salt can ruin an otherwise great dining experience. read more

Harvest really made for a nice evening, modest menu, nothing too fancy and the prices are reasonable.. that being said the service and atmosphere is top notch. Such a nice space, so warm and inviting for a large group of friends to dine in on a weeknight. Food wise it was simple and plentiful, I had the lamb special which fell off the bone, my husband tried a peppersteak which definitely was for cracked pepper lovers but our server warned us of that and he loved it. Another friend of mine had the crabcake sandwich but it was definitely a dinner portion. Lots of shareable desserts and we sampled all of them... loved the parfait shooters. Harvest is ideal for taking your parents and grandparents to, its cozy, yet up on the scale when it comes to its overall look. read more

All considered, Harvest aims to please. Service, like all Hershey establishments, strives to make you happy with a never forgetting staff that they're in the hospitality business. Food was acceptable but nothing special. My daughter ordered the beef short ribs which arrived tender yet dry. My wife's chicken was ok but average and without much inspiration. My lobster salad was also just ok. The ambiance is very nice and view overlooking the garden is lovely but overall the space feels a bit dated in design. The Hotel at Hershey is something to see and experience and, if you're seeking a higher end alternative to the general cuisine in Hershey, I'd suggest you give Harvest a try. read more

We have been eating here at least once a month since the restaurant opened. Initially we really enjoyed the quality of food and atmosphere. The chicken mole quesadilllas, shortrib pasta & NY strip are among our favorites. Also, the mini deserts and decent craft brew selection are a plus (They serve all their beer in frosted glasses. However, it is pretty much pointless to drink a IPA, porter or Stout in this manner as it severely masks the flavor) There is a reason for the two stars. Our last three experiences over the last month and a half have been quite disappointing. While atmosphere and service have remained great, the food quality has begun to slip. Among things we experienced have been over cooked steak, short ribs that have been braised poorly with clumpy pasta and lackluster root vegetables (on 2 occasions), severe lack of seasoning/flavor on the pork shank that made it seem like a dogs dinner (restaurant week) and a duck porsciutto that was the most bizarre charcuterie that I have personally experienced (thick, chewey and plastic like in texture) Having experienced this restaurant when it was good, and knowing that the hotel has vast resources these issues are within their grasp of fixing. Currently i feel like a trip to harvest, is a bit like a trip to the casino. I hope my dinner does not roll out as snake eyes :( read more

Best meal I have had in a long time. Apps to entrees this place delivered for me. We started with the She Crab Soup and the Steamed Mussels. The she crab soup was a perfect blend of creaminess and a hint of spice. It was a tomato based broth with chunks of crab and great flavor. The mussels were steamed and served with a beer and bacon broth. Beer and bacon... don't really need to say any more than those two words and I will enjoy it. They also gave you two pieces of grilled herbed baguette. It was the perfect tool to soak in the beer and bacon broth. For entrees we had the seafood newburg and the dark chocolate braised pork shank. The newburg was full of big chunks of lobster and crab as well as 5-6 shrimp. All were cooked perfectly and not rubbery. Creamy sauce and well cooked pasta. The shank was the most delicious thing I have tasted in quite some time. It was sooo tender, so juicy. The dark chocolate sauce turns into this smoky, bbq'y perfect accompaniment to the moist shank. It was served with sautéed swiss chard which I loved and sweet potato gnocchi which were the perfect starch to the meal. This was a perfectly executed dish. With a glass of sauvignon blanc and pinot noir, 2 apps, 2 entrees (no room for dessert) the total with tip was just over $100. I call that money well spent. read more

One of the top restaurants in the Hershey area. I have been here before and once again I was impressed with the menu. My friend and I and his Mom (celebrating her birthday) ordered the Brunch menu option. As normal everything we ordered was excellent. I really enjoy the decor. The stained glass ceiling tiles are absolutely beautiful. I will definitely be a repeat customer of The Harvest at Hershey. read more

I would say a 3-half star is way too low for this restaurant. Definitely my favorite restaurant during my trip in Hershey. All food are from local farm, all menu are seasonal. Nice service and great taste. The atmosphere is a little bit noisy, but that doesn't really matter for someone like me-who really only care about the taste. For whoever stay in Hershey hotel I recommend this restaurant. read more

This place was overpriced and food was mediocre at best. The steak was not tender all all, and really had no seasoning or flavor. I ordered the steak medium-rare, it came out overdone. I did not like the sauce they gave us to dip it in, and it as a $30 meal. Honestly - my favorite part was the bread that came before the meal. I didn't care for the uniforms that the waitresses had to wear, the farm attire did not fit restaurants prices or decor. I will not be going back, this restaurant does not even compare to hotel hershey's other eateries. read more

Harvest - Hanger steak, broccoli I, mashed potatoes with scallions and bacon...disappointing. - New American Near Me - Hershey, Pennsylvania

For Hershey, PA (caveat for the week), Harvest is a top notch restaurant in a pretty location with excellent service. Unlike a few other eateries in town which were mystified by the notion of medium rare salmon, Harvest prepared mine exactly right. The She Crab Soup was delicious. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about everything, including the wines, without being overbearing or pompous. I wish the lighting was different. It made for a tad too-bright dining experience but I would definitely go back. read more

After a somewhat underwhelming experience at the Circular, and considering the high prices for anything but breakfast, we decided to go to Harvest for dinner. The experience here was much more gratifying. I have to say the best part of the meal was two-fold...the dessert (to be reviewed later) and our server, Kayla. She truly was who every diner should have taking care of them. She never made us feel rushed and was very attentive, even though she had other tables and was even happy to help with suggestions. Her boss should take note. Anyway, the ambience was great...rustic yet classy. I really felt comfortable here. The food was very good and tasted fresh. Everything was well seasoned and there were a number of options, none of which seemed like it would be a bad choice. But it was the dessert that was just out of this world. It's called the Take 5 and comes with a warm, gooey brownie, ice cream, salted caramel sauce, whipped cream and chocolate covered pretzel pieces, perfectly broken down to fit on spoonful of deliciousness. It was by far the best thing I had on the trip. Would definitely return here in the future. So why four stars instead of five? It was not easy to find at first (a theme of the weekend) and I felt the portions were a bit small for the price point. read more

Harvest at Hershey Hotel: fantastic ambiance but letdown by the menu offerings. the Wings all choices were over cooked, too crispy. Not a great presentation where of chicken wings is the primary item, the wings could have been shaken of excess oil instead I was served a chicken wing oozing of grease. The celery and carrots looked a bit more than day old, no snap to determine freshness. Offering to make the dish only adds insult to injury. The hamburger was not well put together, overcooked as well, soggy lettuce. If it wasn't for the view and name, the restaurant wouldn't be as popular as it is read more

Serves us right for expecting a lot. Really slow service, small servings, and no outdoor seating tonight because they saw thunder in forecast. It was sunny and gorgeous the whole time. I recommend you go to the highland grill instead! It's cheaper and better. This was the perfect example of a resort trying to use the buy local movement to sell more food. I'm fine with that if you do it right. That means the very small serving of local greens should not be wilted. Same goes for the over cooked local trout... read more

I went with a large group and I'm going to share some highlights! I love the farm to table concept of this restaurant-- it offers up delicious vegetables and fresh salads. Definitely start with the she crab soup and calamari. The rabbit and house-made noodles are delicious! The roasted root vegetable salad and lobster Cobb are long time favorites. For entrees try the cowboy steak (don't forget to add the lobster tail!) or the cocoa dusted short ribs! I love the pumpkin donuts! Service is attentive and the atmosphere is great! read more

Started with the cheese board which was avg because the cheese was basic ND commercial . The salmon dish had a 3 Oz salmon and egg yolk on top which made me puke . I then decided to get a Caesar salad which was drenched with sauce. If you ever go , order drinks at the patio but not food . I was shocked with the quality that HH allowed to be served there. On a positive note , The server was friendly and proffesional and the patio is amazing.. read more

After one of the best meals of our life at The Circular the previous evening we were disappointed with Harvest. If you're not seated by a window with a view decor is pretty utilitarian. The food was good but the menu is pretty basic. I was going to order the chicken with thyme butter until the woman sitting next to me said don't bother it's like Ina Garten's chicken Parmesan...something you can make at home. Service was not good. Our server seemed overwhelmed and irritable, she was probably the biggest source of our disappointment. After the impeccable service at The Circular we were really surprised by her attitude. We loved our stay at the Hotel Hershey and it surprised us at how different this meal was from the rest of our experience. read more

I don't see how this place gets an average rating higher than Circular Dining Room, that makes no sense to me. This restaurant is in a clubhouse type building that's obviously much newer and more ordinary than the hotel. That should count for something in the negative column. Our food took forever to arrive, and was not memorable. Fries were limp. read more

This is my first time commenting. I look here for reviews but never did myself. I used to really like this place, but something's up. Overcooked chicken, cold/half stale bread, poor service (but maybe it was just our waiter). Just saying, for the price you should expect more. Felt like a waste of money. Literally zero taste in our food. Great atmosphere, deserts, drinks; but until I hear there's been a new chef or a re-commitment to the quality of food served, I'll give up the atmosphere and go where I know there will be consistency. read more

We went to the Harvest tonight to celebrate my Mother-in-Laws 75th BD. This was at the suggestion of my son and his fiance. The decor of the restaurant was very charming and comfortable and we had a nice table near the fireplace which added a warm ambience to our dinning experience. Our waitress was very friendly and hospital and very professional and willing to go out of the way to insure Rose's special dining needs were met. To start off our meal my son & wife both ordered the She Crab Bisque. This was a very rich textured cream soup with a hint of spice but the spice brought out the crab and didn't overwhelm it like some places. I had a spring leaf salad with vinegarette dressing and my son's fiance had a ceasar salad. My son and I ordered the Prime Rib which was prepared perfectly pink all through and we enjoyed a very tenderly prepared slice. My wife ordered the pan Seared Maryland Rock Fish which she said she enjoyed but found it to be a little stronger fish tasting than she expected. My son's fiance ordered the 10 oz Pocono Rainbow Trout with Bernaise Sauce which she said was very enjoyable and flavorable. Rose got her wish of having lobster by ordering a Lobster Tail which she said was delicious. Each of us went with the highly recommended Bacon Scallion Whipped potatoes I opted for their Wild Mushrooms while the others all went for the creamed spinach. Everyone was delighted withtheir choice and found the sides to be very enjoyable. For dessert they brought Rose out a hershey Chocolate Cupcake w/ candle and decorated a plate wishing her a happy 75th. I had a Hershey Chocolate Cream Pie which was to die for. My wife and my son's fiance had shooters which they found just enough to satisfy that after dinner craving for sweets. If you want to experience fine dining you can find it here or try one of the other restaurants in the hotel. I plan on returning to the Hershey Hotel again to experience the other restaurants and a return to the Harvest will also be on a future agenda. read more

I think for a resort restaurant, you have to come in with certain expectations. For starters, it will be higher priced fare for the convenience of not having to drive anywhere for dinner. Secondly, it's Hershey. With that being said, we didn't have a horrible meal but it also wasn't a knock your socks off experience. When we arrived we were seated at a table that had not yet been wiped down. They removed the dishes and silverware but there was still food crumbs all over the table. I was surprised the hostess felt content to sit us at a dirty table, but nonetheless, we sat down. Shortly after she left, our waitress came over and immediately noticed and had us move one table over to a clean, "ready" table. We each ordered a drink and we started with the She Crab Soup. It was pretty good and I was surprised at the amount of meat in the soup. From past experience (not from here, just everywhere) you usually don't get a ton of meat in this soup. For the entree we both ordered the Pan Seared Whole Trout. It was a bit deceiving as you don't actually get a "whole" trout, just the meat from the body. The fish was cooked perfect and had good flavor. The side of fingerling potatoes and brussel sprouts were just ok. Most of my brussel sprouts were way over roasted, chewy or burnt. We had plenty of sweets back in the hotel room from shopping earlier in the day so we did not get any dessert. All in all, it was a nice visit, but for the $100 we spent on the two of us, there could have been a little more pizazz for us. I wouldn't rule it out if we came back to the hotel though. read more

A weekend away over the 4th of July holiday lead us to Hershey, and when researching places to see fireworks the night of the 4th, we decided to eat on Hershey Hotel property as the viewing was excellent. The restaurant resides behind the hotel itself, so you get the experience of walking through the lavish lobby, and then the back garden area. Built to resemble an old farm house, the atmosphere is warm, and earthy. The menu has a wide variety of entrees; ranging from salads, sandwiches, etc. I had the vegetarian red rice jamabalaya, and it was excellent! Red rice and beans in a spicy New Oreleans style base, with zucchini and tofu sausage. I started with a chilled potato and leek soup, which was equally amazing...especially when used as a dip for the warm, fresh baked sourdough rolls. The desert tray consisted of 7-8 different mini parfait options...we chose the Boston creme, cookie dough, and banana creme. What can I say, it was an amazing meal. I was suprised by the bill as well, I figured at a place like that, with the bottle of wine we ordered...$150 easy. Not so bad at $85. read more

So as a healthy foodie I liked coming here while visiting Hershey Park because you are able to order your choice of vegetables grilled on the side and the food is pretty straight forward. Good salads with your choice of protein. I had a major issue with the bartender that evening who apparently gave my waiter attitude and beyond all the brands they have on the computer only three basic brands were available, then when I got an extra cocktail at the bar and when I requested 3 limes with my drink he passed my drink over to me and said here's your drink and a half of lime. Super snarky!! Been traveling with kids like most visiting here and that was the that last thing I needed, looks like he needs a different career! Will never go back! read more

Sigh. I should have known better to go to a Hershey Hotel restaurant looking for good food, and yet I dared to hope. The calamari we had as an appetizer was fine - whatever sauce it came with was the highlight of the meal. The 'chocolate' barbecue sauce on my ribs tasted nothing like it, the rest of the plate was fine but nothing special. My mom's wedge salad was the tiniest I've ever seen. My sister got the burger, and was the only one who ordered correctly, as it was the best dish of the meal. The real disappointment was dessert, because I do think it's reasonable to come to Hershey and expect a good dessert. The Take 5 sundae was not it. The brownies were spongy rather than fudgy, the quantity of caramel and chocolate sauce insufficient, and I don't even think the chocolate covered pretzels on it were Hershey brand. Meh. read more

I've eaten in the Circular Room a few times, but yesterday wasn't dressed for fine dining, so we tried the Harvest while visiting the hotel for the afternoon/evening. The service was meh. Food took forever. Our drinks went empty a couple of times, long before our waiter returned. The atmosphere was nice. The food was mostly okay. My salmon was good, my daughter liked her ribs, and her friend gobbled up the kids' mac n cheese. My husband's fish and chips were just okay. The presentation was nice. It's a halfway-decent family mostly-casual restaurant, but they have got to improve their service. read more

Service was a bit slow at first. Both orders of fish and chips were very underwhelming and cold. The monk fish over hoppin jon was good. The chocolate BBQ ribs were small, dry and lukewarm. The rotisserie chicken came out raw. For the prices you pay, one would expect a better product. read more

Harvest was a nice restaurant with nice decor and food. I had the pork shank special and the Amish chicken noodle soup and both were wonderful. Nice beer list and decent service. All this said some management issues ruined our meal. In spite of the fact that there were many tables available we were sat in between two tables of very small children who were loud and obnoxious. When we nicely asked to move management was rude and unhelpful. Not a way to celebrate a holiday meal. I understand it's Hershey but some simple changes to keep adults away from small children would have made for a better time for everybody. So overall very disappointing. Hopefully you have a better experience. read more

I love this restaurant! I went to the Harvest in August to celebrate my birthday and I had the best experience. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious, the prices were moderate and they even surprised me with a beautifully decorated complimentary dessert. I ordered the fish and chips and it was such a huge portion. My table was by the window and I had a wonderful view of the hotel grounds. The decor is very nice for casual, classy dining. I think it serves many functions, in that it could be a great date spot or a place to go with family or friends. After lunch, I walked around the garden area. It was such a nice day! read more

Went to harvest with family for my birthday celebration. Let me start off by saying if you have never eaten here you need to! We all ordered something different - steak for me! And some apps. The waitress was awesome. I wish I could remember her name. Always had beverages out to us immediately. The steak was cooked to perfection and it tasted amazing. This was the second visit and both times were exceptional! A suggestion is eat a little later then hang around the fire pit behind the restaurant after dinner! Perfect evening! read more

Harvest is a must stop when in Hershey. The local farm to table cooking is amazing. I love the rotating menu. My go to appetizer: Chocolate Chicken Wings Cheese Plate with Honey Comb Pierogies Salad: Goat Cheese and Beat Salad Meals: Chicken Roulade Fresh Fish of the day Fish and Chips Now i do not eat beef or pork (I am allergic) - but my husband does. He consistently orders the pork shank, baby back ribs or the rib eye. He LOVES it. One of his points is the sides are as good as the center of the meal. Customer Service is very high - waiters are very knowledgeable and make great recommendations. The BAR is also great! read more

Don't be fooled - just because this restaurant is on the premises of Hershey's luxury hotel doesn't mean you're getting quality food or service. The food was disgusting. Our server probably knew because she didn't bother to ask how our meal was even when half of my $43 dried out filet was left on the plate as she took it away. The "signature" She Crab Soup had virtually no crab except for the clump that topped the soup, which I thought was a bit of garnish. They couldn't even get the lemonade right! It was like drinking water with a couple squeezes of lemon juice concentrate. I came for fine dining fully prepared to spend the money and was severely disappointed to waste it at this place. read more
