Wow! My companion and I stopped in on an early Saturday evening after months of "you know, we should try that place sometime." We are glad we finally did. 1762 was formerly known as The Warwick Hotel, and that's the prominent markings you'll see from the street. It is a really excellent spot on the square in Hummelstown with cozy charm and exceptional service. My companion was initially skeptical when she saw wine on tap but immediately changed her mind when she saw the offerings--good quality and reasonable price point. The beer selection is also good. Not a huge number of beers but well-selected. Although we didn't have a full meal we did enjoy the sausage and honey appetizer, which was outrageously tasty with sausage from a local butcher in Hershey. Service was efficient and friendly, especially considering the bar (where we sat) was hopping. We also met the owner, Dave, who rolled up his sleeves to assist at the bar while also personally greeting customers. Our biggest regret is that we waited so long to finally visit...and we'll definitely be back soon. read more

Decor/service: beautiful building and staff was super friendly and service was quick Food- they are very allergy friendly and majority of the menu is gluten free. appetizers were good. We had the sweet potato appetizer and the pork belly. They weren't the most composed dishes but the flavors were there. Unfortunately I ordered a steak medium. The first time I cut into it was rare at best. Completely red inside and blood all over the plate. Sent it back and they sent the same steak back out and it was medium rare at best. We visited this restaurant on Sept 25 and loved it! I made a reservation by email, then had to change the time as we were traveling from out of town and were delayed. The email was answered quickly and they backed up the time for us. While we were there, we were greeted by the owner as he told us about the history of the booth we were sitting in. Great little restaurant not far from Hershey. They seem to have several separate rooms for dining, so it was not too noisy. They do have a bar area which seemed to be more lively. We started off with the mushroom flatbread, which was delicious. Hubby had the mahi-mahi special and I had a shrimp dish. I got to choose what kind of topping I wanted on my shrimp, which was really interesting. I chose the sautéed mushrooms. Yum. Plus, lots of great choices for sides. As soon as you walk in the door you are welcomed by a warm friendly greeting from the hosts. Our server Dylan was absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable of the history of the restaurant and the entire menu. The restaurant was beautiful looked like it may open up on nicer days as well! They had a beautiful patio and bar as well. The food was amazing my only warning is the wings were VERY smoked so if you don't like Smokey you probably wouldn't enjoy the wings however that is my personal preference they were still delicious. I would absolutely recommend stopping by if you're in the area or even close by it's worth a drive as well! read more

I was diagnosed with celiac in 2011 and eating out can be challenging. The sheer number of items that were safe for me to eat was surprising and even coming from a metropolitan area trying to get GF calamari is impossible. I have eaten A LOT of calamari in my time (pre-celiac) and have NEVER had a better dish. Not a single piece was even close to over cooked, the slaw was perfectly dressed and the best veg I had (I had broccoli and Brussel sprouts too), and that aioli was light and the perfect complement to the dish. Every flavor had a place and a moment individually but together was an experience. To top off the amazing meal the server was pleasant, knowledgeable, attentive without being overbearing, did not rush us and it was clear that that is just genuinely who she is as a human. TEAM DINNER SOLVED -- CONTACT THE 1762 at the Warwick! Long post, but absolutely worth the read. For out‑of‑town tournaments, we always try to organize a team dinner. Too often, the places we choose fall short--someone's allergy can't be accommodated, siblings aren't happy, or the kitchen simply can't handle a large group. I reached out to several restaurants. Some said they could handle us, others said it shouldn't be a problem... but none inspired confidence. Then I called 1762. A young man answered and immediately assured me they could accommodate our group--and even mentioned they would likely open their private room for us. He was so confident that he encouraged me to speak directly with the owner and even provided his cell number. My first conversation with Dave, the owner, sealed the deal. He asked thoughtful questions no other restaurant had considered--food allergies, timing, how his operation works, and his commitment to local, organic, and locally sourced ingredients. I was sold. After consulting with the other coaches, Dave and I discussed headcount and whether we should arrive during prime dinner hours or come later and "hammer" the kitchen with 35 full-menu orders after 8 PM. We chose the latter. When we arrived, the staff welcomed us and guided us to the French Room, which was fully prepared and ready for seating. Dave stopped in to greet us and share his passion for local sourcing. Two of his best staff--Jensen and Albana--handled 35 patrons with grace, efficiency, and professionalism. They absolutely owned the room. The feedback from coaches, parents, siblings, and players was overwhelming: "I've been traveling all week--from Atlantic City to Hershey. This is the BEST and MOST REASONABLY PRICED meal I've had all week." "This was one of the best meals we've had out in years." I could list comments from all 35 guests. Not a single negative remark. We have been to the 1762 twice now and each time has been a good experience. We like to come here for "special occasions", as it's not fine dining per se but fine enough for me! I always order the steak and the wife always orders the crab cakes. Both times, both entrees have been fantastic! Stopped off on our way home from our trip and we found The 1762! My wife loves calamari so we were happy to see that the calamari was gluten free and absolutely delicious! I got the 62 burger and it was perfectly made! My wife got the bacon bleu burger and added mushrooms. She said it was the best part of our trip coming here. I love this place as it was an old hotel and I love that they kept the old style of decor throughout the entire building. Very historic! Finally the service was fantastic! We attended The 1762 as part of a very large group of teens and parents last night and had a truly wonderful experience. The restaurant at the Warwick Hotel in Hummelstown is a gem! It's named after the year Hummelstown was founded. The menu is seasonal, which I love because it keeps it fresh and allows you to try something new every time you visit. Right from the start, there was a cozy vibe. We were seated in the enclosed patio area which had nice views of Main Street. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. The drink list was impressive and we thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails we tried. I ended up getting wine to have with my entree and the manager noticed I was enjoying a dry red. He came over and offered to allow my husband and I to try a glass of an expensive bottle that had been opened. He seemed to genuinely be interested in our opinion on the wine and you could tell he was proud of the restaurant. Food was great, cooked nicely and they had an eclectic menu. We stopped during our visit to Hersey Park. Can not recommend enough. The service is excellent, the food is fresh and delicious, with passed down recipes. The owner took the time to greet everyone. The 1762 is a gem! We happened upon it after a visit to Troegs. Shortly after arriving, the owner stopped by our table. The menu had many great options to choose from including many gluten-free choices. My husband had the 1762 Burger, and I had one of the specials for the night: halibut cheeks. Both dishes were great! We stopped in for lunch & football. Waited 15 minutes to be served. They have a typical kids menu $10 for Mac N Cheese, Pasta w/ butter, chicken tenders, cheeseburger, with choice of fries or applesauce. My grandson said that the hamburger & fries are 5/5 stars. I had the noodle stir fry bowl with chicken. The chicken was overcooked and dry. Noodles were dry too & it had to much soy sauce for my taste. I did talk to the server who was very kind & he returned with a solution. The owner also offered to make another entree for me but I opted out. She also offered us a free dessert.
