Wow! My companion and I stopped in on an early Saturday evening after months of "you know, we should try that place sometime." We are glad we finally did. 1762 was formerly known as The Warwick Hotel, and that's the prominent markings you'll see from the street. It is a really excellent spot on the square in Hummelstown with cozy charm and exceptional service. My companion was initially skeptical when she saw wine on tap but immediately changed her mind when she saw the offerings--good quality and reasonable price point. The beer selection is also good. Not a huge number of beers but well-selected. Although we didn't have a full meal we did enjoy the sausage and honey appetizer, which was outrageously tasty with sausage from a local butcher in Hershey. Service was efficient and friendly, especially considering the bar (where we sat) was hopping. We also met the owner, Dave, who rolled up his sleeves to assist at the bar while also personally greeting customers. Our biggest regret is that we waited so long to finally visit...and we'll definitely be back soon. read more

Great little restaurant not far from Hershey. They seem to have several separate rooms for dining, so it was not too noisy. They do have a bar area which seemed to be more lively. We started off with the mushroom flatbread, which was delicious. Hubby had the mahi-mahi special and I had a shrimp dish. I got to choose what kind of topping I wanted on my shrimp, which was really interesting. I chose the sautéed mushrooms. Yum. Plus, lots of great choices for sides. We have been to the 1762 twice now and each time has been a good experience. We like to come here for "special occasions", as it's not fine dining per se but fine enough for me! I always order the steak and the wife always orders the crab cakes. Both times, both entrees have been fantastic! Stopped off on our way home from our trip and we found The 1762! My wife loves calamari so we were happy to see that the calamari was gluten free and absolutely delicious! I got the 62 burger and it was perfectly made! My wife got the bacon bleu burger and added mushrooms. She said it was the best part of our trip coming here. I love this place as it was an old hotel and I love that they kept the old style of decor throughout the entire building. Very historic! Finally the service was fantastic! The restaurant at the Warwick Hotel in Hummelstown is a gem! It's named after the year Hummelstown was founded. The menu is seasonal, which I love because it keeps it fresh and allows you to try something new every time you visit. Right from the start, there was a cozy vibe. We were seated in the enclosed patio area which had nice views of Main Street. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable. The drink list was impressive and we thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails we tried. I ended up getting wine to have with my entree and the manager noticed I was enjoying a dry red. He came over and offered to allow my husband and I to try a glass of an expensive bottle that had been opened. He seemed to genuinely be interested in our opinion on the wine and you could tell he was proud of the restaurant. Food was great, cooked nicely and they had an eclectic menu. They have a typical kids menu $10 for Mac N Cheese, Pasta w/ butter, chicken tenders, cheeseburger, with choice of fries or applesauce. My grandson said that the hamburger & fries are 5/5 stars. I had the noodle stir fry bowl with chicken. The chicken was overcooked and dry. Noodles were dry too & it had to much soy sauce for my taste. We found 1762 on our travels while passing thru the area and looking for an establishment where we could dine outside and sit with our dog on this warm September evening. We were extremely impressed finding such wonderful local hospitality. Starting with the host Kevin, Sarah the waitress, and the owner Dave who personally reviewed the menu with us. We both enjoyed liquid libations and enjoyed the Thai calamari as a starter. Service by Sarah was spot on and the food arrived in a timely manner. My husband ordered the bone in pork chop cooked with blackened seasoning and topped with blue cheese crumbles with mushrooms (as recommended by Dave) and served with his choice of two sides (maple carrots and fingerling potatoes). I had the Scottish Salmon with an orange marmalade topping with my choice of two sides (Maple carrots and roasted brussel sprouts) . It was a spectacular meal!!! We both enjoyed being able to choose our toppings and sides. This is a neighborhood gem and Hummelstown is well served having "The 1762" in their restaurant offerings. What an incredible place to eat and enjoy with family! We hadn't been here since it changed ownership. You can tell that the owners truly love what they are doing and appreciate their customers. We were greeted by David (one of the owners) and felt right at home. You can tell he really cares about the business and what it means to the community! The food was absolutely fantastic! My wife and I both had the filet mignon and crab cakes. They were cooked exactly as we ordered them (medium and medium well). They were so tender and flavorful. The fingerling potatoes, mashed potatoes, maple glazed carrots and shaved brussel sprouts were the perfect accompaniment. I had a Guinness which I thought was a great addition to the filet. And the New York Cheesecake with raspberry drizzle was almost too much. It was rich, cold and very dense. Exactly the way a cheesecake should be. We can't wait to return! Found easy parking behind the building. Park in the lot and save yourself some aggravation trying to park on the street. Spaces on the street are hard to find. Walked into the restaurant and was greeted by Peter. Very friendly and he gave that extra special treatment that instilled confidence that you were going to have a great dining experience. This is a farm to table dining establishment and it showed in the food. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. My wife had the Ceasar grilled chicken salad. I had the tomahawk porkchop with Brussels and broccoli. Everything was delicious. The service was also great. I'm not talking your regular service, I'm talking memorable personal service. Our waiter was funny and very warm. The cocktails were also fabulous. I had the best gin and tonic ever. It was smoother than silk. Walking in this restaurant you get the vibe that it's an upscale restaurant. It was very aesthetically pleasing. The food was above average! The waitresses, bartenders, and other staff were all very friendly and easy going. We practically shut down the restaurant and they didn't mind at all. We also got a bonus when the house "ghost" made her presence known by flicking the lights. The lights flickering brought about some "ghost/supernatural" talk with one of the waitresses who shared some very interesting unexplainable experiences she's had since working there. The owner came around while we were still seated in the dining area and spoke with us a bit. We then moved to the bar and got the same or better treatment.
