I ended up here for drinks late at night because I was staying at the Magnolia and didn't want to put a lot of effort into going somewhere. The Internet said they had an amazing chocolate martini. Apparently they've taken that off the menu officially, but the skilled bartender was more than happy to whip something up for me. It was divine! I wanted to take my drink back to the hotel to play some pool in the downstairs area, the bartender said that it was no issue to take my drink back into the hotel so YAY for that! YELP DRINKS DENVER! Round One 4/08/2011 Love the "trendy" Jet Set/Art Deco fusion Styling! I met up with a group of about a dozen or so fellow Denver Yelpers last evening to start a great evening of cocktails, amazing food and meeting more new great people and capturing the night on my VLOG (watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lHeWHHnCx0 ) 6:30 on Friday evening and this place gets packed. The smallish space does get a bit noisy -- but then I'm sure our group helped increase the overall decibel count quite a bit. Drinks: We had an excellent variety of Yelp drink specials to choose from (and I took a bus to get downtown) - I decided it best to play copycat on the ladies who were about 20 mins ahead of me and enjoy a Chandon Champagne split to welcome the weekend in style. My second selection was a very nicely made Absolut Lemon Drop Martini Staff: The bar staff was top notch for the volume they were experiencing. I even got the Rockies game on TV during a pretty heavy service bar push-- thanks again! We were staying at the Magnolia hotel and wandered into here for brunch. We ordered protein squared which is steak and eggs and the "talk of the town benedict" both were delicious and those potatoes....so good! Great service as well. My friend and I were staying at the Magnolia Hotel. After a fun packed weekend, we just wanted to relax, grab a drink and a quick bit. Harry's checked off all of those things. Joaquin was our bartender for the evening. We really felt like a chocolate martini. Even though they weren't on the menu, he whipped up a couple for us. They were delicious! Thank you Joaquin for making our last night in Denver a good one. As for food we only ordered two appetizers, short rib sliders and nutty brussel sprouts. Both were winners. They were perfectly fried, not greasy, yummy and the light cucumber sauce was perfect. I paired it with a split of champagne and the still water on the table. hmmm, from the reviews here it seems that maybe my night there was an anomaly. friendly enough locals hanging out there, but the drunk factor was way over the top. Maybe it was the football that evening and I caught things at the end of a long day of partying. There was the 50+ drunk guy that was hanging around - telling everyone "You know why I love you? because ...". Unfortunately he sidled up next to me at the bar. There was the younger group that clearly had been drinking for a while. They were getting sloppy - bumping into people, knocked over two drinks, etc. Headed to the restroom (downstairs in the hotel) to find that someone had not quite made it into the mens room before they lost it. The staff had cleaned most of it up, but the stench of the cleaning products and puke were still quite strong. With all this going on, the bartender was friendly, attentive, and poured a decent cocktail. Someone at the bar ordered the cheeseburger and fries - they looked and smelled pretty darn tasty. And for the record, the really drunk guy hanging around was not served at Harry's. He came in already drunk and they wouldn't serve him. So while my short time there was "interesting", I would probably go back and give them another shot - and order the burger. read more

When traveling alone, I like to eat at the bar. It's simpler, quicker, and more interesting: there is usually a TV, a chatty bartender, or other random people to talk to if your reading material isn't particularly alluring. Again, after talking to some of the more well-traveled and hip citizens of Albuquerque, the Magnolia Hotel and its bar were highly praised. I stopped in on a not-so-busy night. Harry's Bar is on the ground floor and corner of the Magnolia Hotel. It has that retro 60's chic-space-age thing going on with lava-lamp like fixtures and I really want to say shag carpetting (but I might just be making that up. But shag carpetting wouldn't be out of place here). The bartender and staff were friendly and chatty, but not obnoxiously so. Clientele included business tourists, locals (including Denver's brand of hipsters), and a couple of cougs out after work: so a good wide range of peeps. Good choice of liquors, small wine list (don't expect anything outrageous here), and a decent selection of beers. Victuals consisted of upscale bar food: great selection of large plates/platters to share with a big group of friends (mini-cheesburgers, fondue, etc) and a few choices for the lone diner. Nothing on the menu really piqued my interest so I went for the standard cheese quesadilla. Since it was "upscale" bar food, I wasn't expecting the greatest quesadilla and I was right. It was decent, but they added "upscale" details like roasted peppers and accompanied by an "upscale" pico de gallo. Now why? Why? Why bother? That said, it was a decent and I wasn't coming to Harry's BAR for some sort of gustatory sensation: the quesadilla fulfilled its duty. Harry's seems like a great place to get drinks with friends. It is a bit small so I imagine it gets crowded on the weekends. I don't really know anything about the Denver scene so can't really put this place into context. I do know if this place was in LA, it would likely do fairly well. And who knows? If it was an SBE venture, Hohan(post rehab) and Paris (post jail sentence) would probably be there too... read more

You love this bar simply because it is your closest watering hole. You are a bi-monthly regular and the bartender calls you bud. Moody as he may be, Patrick is your favorite downtown bartending distraction. Not only is he easy on the eyes but he use to do all sorts of magic tricks back in the days when the bar was less bustling. That is when he won you over. You have seen plenty a beauty get bold and ask him out which he paws off every time with a light rejection. You like his self-assured singledome. As for the bar, it's an arm chair traveler's hotel bar. Not such a local scene but a great place to meet a multitude of conventioneers. If you like eclectic conversation this is the place to get a more worldly view. The bar is small and comforting, just short of pretentious. High top tables dot the interior with room for four. Decked out in retro decor the swiveling bar chairs is your preferred location. You always order the Manage a Trios, guaranteed to evoke hushed giggles from the guys with their minds in the gutter. The smooth sweet body, the deep red tannins, and the seven dollar price tag has landed this sexy label into the," I'll have my usual category." You even feel sexy and sensual when taking deep sips of this luscious liquid. You come for the wine. You come to unwind. You come for the company. Harry's is your Cheers and everybody does know your name; that is after Patrick makes his usual bar patron introductions. You can sit for hours having disjointed conversations and discussing the intestacies of the bar crowd with Patrick. A secret or intimacy doesn't slide by a seasoned bartender, even when they look to be preoccupied. The bartender was a complete a-hole. I asked for an NA beer and a menu. I'm a guest at the hotel and was looking for food. He told me they didn't have any NA beers. I said: really? You're kidding. Harry's was a big let down today, as part of Denver Restaurant Week. I was hesitant to post this, but I am very very disappointed by the service. I ate a few of the bacon wrapped turkey bites and since they are bites I didn't immediately cut into them. However the texture threw me off, so I did cut into them and then I discovered the turkey was completely raw. I calmly told the waiter and they took the plate away but there was no real apology or an attempt too make it better immediately. A few minutes later they came back and offered another 1st course, but after that I didn't really feel like eating anything at this place. Despite working across the street from this bar for the last 10 months, I only recently ventured over. WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG?! My marketing department went together, and it was instantly like a trip back in time to Mad Men. The decor is amazing, and it's intimate without being too pretentious or stuffy. Drinks were a little pricey but not outrageous (it IS a hotel bar, after all), and it looked like they had a decent happy hour (and all day on Sundays!). I am getting in the habit of liking hotel bars. You would think that if you don't stay at a hotel, why would you go to a hotel to drink and eat at their restaurant? I see the point now. Harry's is great. Upscale, but laid back at the same time. Every server I have ever had is great. Upbeat, ready to serve, and a place to be seen on the scene. Just a hint for the ladies... the restrooms are downstairs a winding staircase. Think about this when you wear your sparkly heels (as I did, on New Year's Eve. I made it, because I walk like a boss in heels, but if you wobble like a lot of girls do, trade in those heels for flats. Trust me, you will thank me later). The crafted cocktails are strong and sophisticated, and may just knock you on your ass. The Manhattan is phenomenal, and I am so proud of a place that can do it right. And the cherry on the bottom? Not just any cherry. I popped that SOB like no one's business. Adorable chic, not too upscale while being fancy at the same time (does that make sense? What I had? Skyscraper Club Food review: Soo... let me first say that this review is based on lunch food only (not the drinks). My company decided to take our team out for lunch at this place. When I looked up Yelp reviews and saw that it really only got reviews for drinks, I shook my head. Whose bright idea was that? Anywho, we get there with a large party and we did have a reservation at least one day in advance. We get there and the place is pretty much void of any customers. We all order food and one hour.. one hour later.. our food arrives. Ooof.. when I finally got to munch on my club it was pretty cold and pretty rough on the mouth (the bread was a little on the hard side). The sandwich overall was ok I guess but certainly not worth waiting an hour for. Service? I believe I touched on it with the one hour wait. Also, the waitress we had slightly screwed up an order and then told us it was our fault we didn't mention the change. :-) Regardless of the truth of that statement, she should have kept her mouth shut methinks. :-s read more

Very trendy, loud and busy bar. The waiter seemed overwhelmed with all the people coming in; he constantly looked like he was stressed out and even apologized a couple of times for not making it over to my friend and I. The drink list seems a little small - not a whole lot of selection but I am picky and like a lot of options. On the menus is beer, wine and cocktails as well as overpriced appetizers and entrees. My friend and I shared the coconut chicken - it was pretty amazing and I would recommend it if you feel like paying $9 for 3 pieces of chicken and some sauce (what can I say.... not only am I picky, I am a little cheap). We ended up getting beer at happy hour prices even though we walked in just at 6pm when happy hour was ending. Be prepared for a loud atmosphere, mainly due to pretty bad acoustics. My friend and I sat in the corner and could hear each other fine. People who came in groups seemed to be shouting a bit to be heard. I AM a fan of Harry's. The staff is very friendly and super accommodating. They make me feel as though they would do nearly anything to make my experience pleasant, if not joyful! The only drawback is that they moved the restaurant & lounge to the basement to accommodate guests while the hotel did the renovations. The bar/lounge part is now the check in. It is SOOO disappointing. Downstairs is not as nice - no views of the street, no light from the windows, no seats near the windows (because there are no windows) to look out onto the street...It is just not as nice. Its stuffy and (I consider) feels confining. I hope they change it back up. The staff at Harry's is exceptional, sadly the ambiance is not. read more

I attended a conference at the hotel that included lunch for four days in Harry's Bar. Three hits and one miss. Every day included at least one shared appetizer and an entrée. Street Tacos, Cobb Salad and Club sandwich were all above average. The one miss was the Blue cheese burger, I asked for it medium and it was well done and dry. Very dry. The quality of the meat was good but almost inedible. Again the service very good except for one day when they appeared understaffed. read more

Hey yelpers. I'm watching the elections at Harry's. My husband and I ordered the Malbec, which is enjoyable, but not the best. I ordered the squash fritters, which were also recommended by the server. To each their own, right?! :) I guess they just revamped their menu and it came out yesterday. I'm not impressed with the fritters. I actually wont eat the rest... they are not enjoyable. They are too big, and gooey on the inside making the texture unbearable. I'm here for a drink an appetizer. I checked in to the hotel cause it was awesome not cause I'm trying to get free stuff. That's just a bonus. The appetizer that came was great and small. Posh hotel bar just off the 16th St Mall, so you find many people traveling here of course, which is fun. I like meeting new people, and I love bragging about my D-Town. The bartenders are nice, very patient. The drinks are good, and it's not too pricey considering where you're drinking. My one complaint is having to travel to get to the bathroom. I'm not sure why the bathrooms are down a large flight of stairs-and it becomes quite difficult to navigate after a few cocktails! read more
