One of my favorite places on the hill. I am an old school hill person and treasure the old school places. Harry's is one of them. The staff is friendly and down to earth. The ambience feels neighborhoody and there is always local art displayed on the purple walls. There are couches in the front that are comfy and relaxing to hang out on. Happy hour gives you 8 dollar yummy martinis. The half greek salad is the best, huge, fresh, addictive. The pizza is delicious too. This place contrasts the expensive more artisan/craft cocktail/fancy places opening up on the new version of the hill. Harry's has flavor and warm welcoming vibe. read more

My boyfriend and I just moved to the neighborhood and went here to catch the Hawks game the other night. The place was pretty packed and we were looking for a seat, and a nice guy at the bar offered to move down so we could have two spots with great views of the television. Turns out this guy is also super hilarious and a regular here -- multiple people came up to him and knew him by name. We met all sorts of outgoing people that introduced themselves and were very chatty, which isn't something you find in all Seattle bars. Our bartender was super relaxed yet gave great service. It felt like he also gave us an extra good price on beer... Maybe because we were newcomers and he wanted us to return? Well, if that's the case, it worked. As far as dinner goes, the atmosphere is is great, the happy hour is from 3-7 which is longer than most restaurants in the area, and the pizza is a great hybrid between deep dish and New York style. While the pizza is a little more pricey than other options, it's completely worth it. read more

My friend and I greatly enjoyed our pizza and drinks (good house red) at Harry's Bar last night. The happy hour features wonderful 8 inch pizzas with 3 toppings. The only negative was the noise level as we made the mistake of sitting next to a large group of very loud men. On the way out I noticed an adjoining room which seemed quieter. Wow! This place isn't hopping yet because it's so new but it will be. The drinks are tasty especially with late night happy hour. The atmosphere is dark and inviting. First, I don't write many reviews, but I can't help to about this place and it's amazing bartender Austin. Austin is hands down the best craft bartender I have encountered...and believe me...I've encountered my fair share! Haha He is not only courteous and friendly, but he knows his craft! If you give him the chance to create an amazing cocktail for you, he won't disappoint! He made me some of the best drinks my wife and I have ever had by asking us our likes, and what sort of drinks we lean towards, he then hand crafted 3 seperate drinks that blew us away. A whiskey based one for me and gin based for my wife and a Smokey Scotch based one the next day (I had to come back for another drink before I left town)....oh and hands down the best Gluten Free pizza we've ever had! And we tasted it before all the drinks ;) do yourself and favor, go see Austin at Harry's and get a craft cocktail! read more

Lovely old bar setting and nice place to hang with friends. The greek salad was very nice and the pizza was good (for deep dish midwest/Seattle style). Very good food, served very late. Very mellow and comfortable atmosphere. Everyone I have met there is friendly and laid back. The bartenders are 100% the best part. They make a fantastic Manhattan and are insanely attentive without hovering. There is one older guy, maybe the owner, who works some days and is not very friendly or helpful at all. So disappointing when everyone else is so great. I wish I knew his schedule so I could avoid those days. I have previously loved this place since it opened, for many of the reasons others have echoed, however I had a night of bad service that was out of the ordinary, unpleasant, and unprofessional. I am from the industry; and am thus gracious, respectful and cognizant of the job and its difficulties. I am reasonable and rarely return or complain about anything unless it is warranted. I ordered a glass of white wine that tasted old and diluted, so after 45 minutes and two sips, I politely returned to the bar and explained my wine didn't taste good, and asked to get another drink and said I think I would like beer instead. She was rude and confrontational, and told me I would have to pay for another drink, as there was nothing wrong with my wine and especially since I was switching to beer. Very poor decision for business, plain and simple, and poor way to handle a poor decision, to boot. My friend and I decided to stay for another round and some food, and he ordered from her at the bar. She brought us napkins and cutlery but forgot to bring us condiments, etc. and when my friend walked to another table to grab our own salt, pepper, parm etc. she pulled the all-time worst move-- and blamed it on the brown guy busser-- "oh, did he forget to bring those to you?--Sorry about that..." SO LAME! Usually this is a cool, chill friendly neighborhood spot. I hope they get their normal bartenders back soon! read more

It was late. People in our group were at various levels of intoxication, and we needed a snack. Between five people we shared a giant greek salad and a hummus plate. The food deserved an A+ and our server (a handsome, sleek fellow), was quick and attentive. A $5 manhattan was a delicious albeit strong nightcap. I think I'll get a $5 margarita next time. I'm giving 4 stars because I'd like to see one or two more filling/savory item on their late-night appetizer menu. read more

I love Harry's. I bring my friends and parents here whenever they're in town, the meet up that I attend occasionally goes there after meetings, and I even brought my wedding party there after the reception for an after party. The cocktails and food is great. There's tons of seating, the TV's aren't as distracting as other places, and the outdoor seating is very cozy. I went to The Bar (also known as Harry's Bar) for my birthday a few weeks ago and it was perfect. I needed a large enough table for a big group and they were able to give us a spot in the back which is quite a feat on a Saturday night on Cap Hill. It's laid-back & casual which was perfect for us. Our server was wonderful (I think her name was Amanda). She was very attentive to us all night even though we had a lot of people rotating in & out over several hours and she even offered to make separate checks for us. The food comes from Olympia Pizza and had a lot of good options for snacking. Drinks are great whether you want a fancy cocktail or a beer. Also - how can you go wrong with a late-night Happy Hour on the weekend? I would totally recommend it for people that just want to sit & talk as opposed to the usual Cap Hill bar scene. read more

The food was great, service was great, owner was a dick... Showed up at Harry's with a good friend who lived on Capitol Hill to watch the Huskies college football game. Walked in, bar was decently full, but the entire back section was empty. Grabbed a table in the back, which worked perfectly seeing as the UW ASU game was playing on the massive big screen tv in the back corner. Ordered beers and started watching the game. Eventually ordered food. Was watching the Dawgs play (poorly) and ordered pizza and cheesy bread. Jake Browning threw a terrible interception and I inadvertently loudly said, "Browning No! What a terrible throw!" To my friend. No one in the bar seemed bothered by it. In fact another lone husky fan had made his way back to the back area and nodded in agreement... No one else in the bar was even paying the slightest attention to the game... Well apparently after my entire 1.25 beers in Harry's establishment I had crossed the line by loudly exclaiming my frustration at the qb of the local football team who's game was being broadcast in a local bar. I was quickly approached by an older gentleman who introduced himself as "Harry, of Harry's Bar." And respectfully said, "can you please refrain from loud outbursts in my establishment." Now I actually immediately apologized. I didn't swear or scream. But he made me feel like I was a bad person for loudly exclaiming my frustration at my sports team. Then a funny thing happened. We got our food (my pizza was delicious and the waitress was amazing) and my friend and I started to talk about how awkward Harry made us feel. The vibe there was no longer fun, we felt unwelcome because of the owner. Anyways we calmly and politely asked for the check and boxes so we could leave. The waitress brought both and looked extremely sympathetic. As we were boxing our food Washington scored and a few new comers who had made their way to the bar screamed and cheered loudly. The owner did not make it his personal point to make those people feel unwelcome or uncomfortable... Anyways this is my Harry's story. Great food (Hawaiian w/ jalapeño pizza), great beer (one Lucille and one Ninkasi), and great service. Everything about our experience was great, but the owner was an asshole. Honestly I don't understand why you would have football on the big screen in your bar and then complain about someone passionately watching and enjoying football in your bar. If you don't want that crowd don't have football playing on the tv! I apologize for getting passionate about my team and loudly saying, "Browning No!" It was apparently not fitting in Harry's ambience. I would like the owner to apologize as well. I've never been made to feel so awkward in a bar/restaurant. read more
