Instant Baltimore favorite for me! Dear friend of mine has Celiac and we are always looking for gluten free spots. Found Harmony on Yelp and decided to drive up and give it a try. We tried the spinach tart, quiche, chickpea pastry, coffee cake, somoa, mocha biscotti... I'm probably forgetting something... it was all EXCELLENT. So good, that my friend kept asking "are you SURE this is gluten free?!" The staff was warm and welcoming and I chatted with who I presume to be one of the bakers on the way out and told her it was our first time and that we loved it. She gave us a 1/2 loaf of bread on the house since there was a cancelled order! The bread was also DELICIOUS and a very kind gesture. She recommended we toast it, but even a bite of untoasted proved to be delicious and again, shockingly gluten free. Would absolutely not hesitate to return!!! 5 stars!!! read more

If I lived nearby I would go to this place everyday! I bought about $25 worth of goods for later, even though I wasn't hungry, my stomach was hurting, and I was in a rush to head to an event. I tried the mocha biscotti thing (forgot the actual name), spinach tart (my favorite, chickpea something (didn't love this one), the rosemary biscotti, the morning glory muffin (really moist and dense). I have been wanting to go here for weeks and finally went this weekend. The reviews are spot on!! Everything is vegan and gluten free. They have a lot of options- something for everyone. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful when I asked for the ingredients of different items. We ordered the Samoa bars, the walnut brownie, and the chickpea blondie. The Samoa bar was good. The walnut brownie was amazing!! It was super moist and flavorful. It was almost gooey. I was not a huge fan of the chickpea blondie. I can't wait to go back and get the brownie again and try some other options. I could have ordered a box full of goodies. Their food looks good too so I will have to try that next time. read more

I live 8 hours away so I have only been here twice, but both times have been amazing experiences! Delicious sweets/baked goods as well as savory foods. I have been baking gluten free stuff regularly for over a year and I always make sure to try every allergen free bakery I can find (as well as gluten free stuff from regular bakeries). This is my favorite bakery in Baltimore... dare I say the world? Their cookies, cakes and pastries are to die for, but don't underestimate their savory selections. Mock crab cake? Yes! Quiches? Yes! I stumbled upon this place over the weekend. Being both gluten free and vegan, I was head over heels to find a restaurant that could satisfy my desire for all things baked as well as other yummy vegan alternatives. I had a vegan quiche which was so delicious I wish I had taken one home. I did take home bagels, corn bread, and an amazing treat: a "crab cake". Not since I became vegan 6 years ago have I been able to taste one of my favorite foods. This "crab cake" is amazing. I should have taken more home and hoarded them. Forget Beyond Meat and Impossible burgers. Try a Maryland delicacy. I can't wait to go back. By the way, the staff was amazing and offered excellent suggestions on the menu and gluten free cooking. This is an adorable little bakery! There isn't much in-house seating, but it's because the entire bakery is visible and part of the shop! They had a few vegan options that we tried, including the quiche, spinach tart, chickpea tart, and oat &a date bar. I really enjoyed the quiche- it was filling, the crust was thick, and the cashew cheese was delicious! The chickpea tart was also well-seasoned (curry-tasting)! I saw that they had some cookies, and I know they have doughnuts now and again- I'll have to go back and try more!! read more

Harmony Bakery is a lovely little cafe with an impressive selection of sweet and savory goodies. Everything is vegetarian and gluten-free, and many of the items are vegan as well. Yet none of it tastes that way. The crusts on the tarts are delectable, toothsome, and not the least bit gritty or chalky (often what one finds with gluten-free baked goods). My sister and I split a chickpea coconut tart, a spinach cheese tart, and and arugula salad. Everything was vegan. The chickpea tart was luscious and well-seasoned. It reminded me of a delicious samosa with better texture and not as heavy. The crust on this tart was just perfect: crunchy with a little chew. It did not taste like a gluten-free crust to me at all, and I've tried a lot. The spinach cheese tart had a slightly different crust that was more chewy and less crunchy. This texture complimented the creamy cashew cheese and spinach filling very nicely. The salad had a lovely combination of flavors and was a refreshing respite from the hot weather. For dessert, we shared a karma bar and a rosemary cashew cookie. The karma bar had a wonderful texture, with layers of yummy coconut, chocolate, and oats. The rosemary cashew cookie was very shortbread-like without being too fatty or sweet. It was almost a little savory and was very unique in both flavor and texture. I could tell that everything was thoughtfully prepared with good ingredients, care, and love. The prices were quite reasonable, considering how much skill and effort went into making each item. Being gluten free vegan means that there aren't many places where you can go to eat. I was really sad when Breathe left the area. But I have found pastures anew in Harmony Bakery, which serves gluten free and (mostly) vegan pastries and savory fare. Yesterday I tried their madeleine and chocolate donut and both were excellent. Usually you have to head up to New York to get treats of this quality - and now I can just walk a couple of blocks! I do have a garlic intolerance, which means that I'm not able to eat most of their savory food as the cashew cheese does contain garlic. I thought about removing a star for this but the pastries are worth five stars on their own, and they are really nice and informative about ingredients if you have an allergy or intolerance. I came by for lunch today and they pointed me in the direction of a quinoa salad. I ordered it and it was DIVINE. So fresh and so perfect! The iced tea, while plain, was quality - I'm looking forward to more flavored iced teas as alluded to on the menu board. The tables outside are great, just be wary to choose one of the back tables if you come with a dog and don't want to cause a scene when one of the many dog walkers on Chestnut passes by the moment you go in to make your order. :) read more

Finally had a chance to come here with some friends. I had a bite of all the desserts my friends ordered which were corn bread, cranberry tart, and ?brownie. The pastries weren't exactly cheap but had the right amount of sweetness, tart and texture (velvety almost!). Only two tables and 2 bars next to the window. The place is small and not great for bigger groups of people. Many people came to order food/coffee/pastries to take out. The staff were friendly and even provided cinnamon when asked!! Was gifted a fantastic selection of goodies from Harmony for my birthday. My fiancé went with a friend to pick them out so I cannot review based on visiting. Just on the food. The treats were out of this world. Finding out I no longer could have gluten, was heartbreaking especially after tasting a lot of establishment's poor excuse for treats. Harmony bakery is a cute little place to try vegan and gluten free goodies. Both my mom and I got the cauliflower tart and we got one cinnamon donut. The total was around $16 and change. The tart wasn't big but It was enough for a light snack, but the flavor was out of this world. As for the cinnamon donut It was alright 7/10 a little hard but perhaps that's always how they are. Maybe four and a half. Full disclosure: I am not vegan. I am not vegetarian. I have no alarms about GF, sugar, nuts, eggs or dairy. I basically eat what's in front of me - and complain later. This place is gooood. I've had only savory treats, so I can't speak for the sweet items, but the handful of things I've had have been so good, they're almost revelatory. The spinach feta pie has so much spinach in it! And perfectly seasoned which shows a level of care and balance sometimes missing in healthy foods. Same goes for the chick pea pie, and -oh my god- the butternut squash cashew cheese pie. Do yourself a favor and have these things hot or reheated. The crust is toothsome and yummy in its own right. The polenta squares are also super delicious, a big luscious square heaped with whatever toppings they're featuring that day. I then took home a pint of the quinoa salad and, again, the balance between ingredients, clean and fresh. Healthy eating is more than virtuous, it's worth it. The place is cozy (if a little serious, in that vegan-way), but it gives good value for the money, I thought. I wouldn't hesitate to take a meat-eater here.
