My Mamas Vegan is an excellent Black Owned/Woman Owned/vegan restaurant located in Baltimore. I pre-ordered the Super Bowl Slider Platter from My Mamas Vegan. Pre order was easy, I did it all via my phone a couple of weeks in advance. Pickup was also super easy, I found parking right on the street, went in, and had my food all in my hands in less than ten minutes. The slider tray consisted of 10 Sliders. There were two each of Meatball Parm, French Onion Melt, Cheeseburger Cheesesteak, BBQ Jackfruit and Oyster Chick'n. All of them were well done, held up in transit and tasted good as leftovers. That being said, the BBQ Jackfruit were my favorite. If you ever have the chance to get your hands on her BBQ Jackfruit, definitely do it! The sliders came with three sides: a container of Bourbon Baked Beans, Traditional Mac Salad and Chips and Chili Queso These were also well done. Price wise, My Mamas Vegan seemed comparable to other vegan places in the area. I think the slider tray cost about 40 dollars and I, eating everything myself, had leftovers for days. I ordered the crab egg rolls. I've never had vegan crab. The egg rolls were shockingly delicious. The sauce and the texture of the vegan crab were perfect. Portion was large. Wish I could have purchased half the size and added another food item because I wanted to try more, but you know how those vegan prices are... Street parking is available. It did not disappoint-- been vegan for a bit now and it was hands down the best Vegan burger I've ever had!! I wish I had a photo but I smashed it out in like 4 bites. This spot can easily be easily missed driving down Greenmount Ave. BUT this hidden gem has amazing vegan food! I don't even have a vegan diet and this food was GREAT! The hrs are 3pm-11pm wed - sat. So your able to stop by for a late lunch to a late night snack. The buffalo chick'n sandwich was done very well. It has a meat like texture and taste with a store made ranch dressing and lettuce placed on a warm bun. I appreciate the foil wrapper on top of the paper to keep my food warm on the ride home. Now something as simple as the fries were even prepared well, not too crunchy or soft. Done to perfection! I also would suggest the buffalo cauliflower, amazing flavor. During past visits the restaurant had patio seating outside but it wasn't available today. All in all, this is a spot you should slow down, park, place your order and enjoy! Attention! My Mamas Vegan is a hidden gem: you better sprint over to this Black-owned, wondrous vegan restaurant ASAP! My Mamas Vegan is a MD Vegan Restaurant Week participant (02/05-02/28). And their menu offerings were really speaking to my cravings. I ordered a 5-cheese mac and cheese and the chick'n sandwich. Mmm, let me tell you: pure joy! The food was fresh and amazing! Usually with vegan macs, there's a weird soy aftertaste, but this one was flavorful with no strange aftertaste. It's the perfect portion for a side and I recommend adding a little paprika or crushed black pepper to spice it up a bit. Now...on to the show stopper! This chick'n sandwich could have fooled a non-vegan. The chick'n was crispy, perfectly breaded, and assembled with care. It resembled a real chicken sandwich in looks and taste. It's a generous portion so I tried to eat only half of it, but I failed. It was too good to not eat all at once! Soooo will I be back? You betcha! I ordered the burger sub and the onion one. The onion one was reminiscent of the Philly cheesesteaks I used to have in bmore as a kid. Very good! I went there two days ago and got the chicken Philly cheesesteak, a buffalo chicken salad, the seafood salad, hot cauliflower tacos, the Oreo cheesecake, the Cinnabon cake, and their mango juice. And boy oh boy did it NOT DISAPPOINT! I have rarely eaten vegan food that is as mouthwateringly good as my mamas vegan is. And it's not just the quality of food but the taste, the balance of the spices, and the amount of love that is put into every bite. I can't recommend this place enough to anyone coming in. Hands down one of the best plant based food spots in the east coast! My Mama's Vegan has, by far, the best vegan food I've ever tasted. No joke. They catered my wedding, and we didn't make a big deal out of the fact that our catering was vegan. When the compliments started rolling in, we said, "Oh, and you know that's totally vegan right?" The look of bewilderment on our guests faces was priceless. "Wait, you're sure? Those rib tips were vegan? The cilantro lime chicken tacos? The general tsaos? The meatballs!?!" Yes, all vegan, my friends. Traditional, stuck-in-their-ways, friends and family who would have never picked vegan food on their own got to experience how amazingly delicious it can be... or at least when it's made by Debonette, the owner of My Mama's Vegan. On top of the food being fantastic, tasty, finger-licking good, the price was affordable and their service was impeccable. Everything was ready on time, there were professional attendees at every station to help guests, and Debonette's help and communication running up until the day of the event was just what we needed. I am so thankful that we chose them for our caterer, because it could not have been more perfect. In addition to catering our wedding, we eat the food from here pretty regularly. I highly recommend the crab fries, buffalo chicken sandwich, fish filet sandwich, golden cauliflower bites, mac-n-cheese, rib tips, spare ribs (honestly, these will blow your mind), sweet potatoes, jerk collards (get ready for some spice), iced teas, chocolate peanut butter cake.... I don't really like peppers, but the sandwich was still excellent. Didn't have much room for cake afterwards, but I took a bite and it was also very good! My wife and I went here last night and it was awful. The place looked abandoned and desolate, completely different from the pictures posted. When we walked in, there was no customer service. Just a dude, cooking on a flat grill giving us eye contact without actually saying a word. My wife had to ask if it was okay to order. We ended up ordering but while providing us with the debit card instructions, his back was actually turned to us and we had to figure it out on our own. We paid $30 for two burgers and a bag of chips (rip off). And the burger was gross. I got the bacon Gouda burger and the burger was okay, the lettuce was old and wilted, the tomatoes was soggy and the bun was old. This was a piss poor meal and experience. You want to sell vegan food for the community, great but this service and quality is unacceptable. Do better or close! read more
