MY TEXAS BBQ DREAMMMM!! I love this place. I had it for the first time long long ago and have been thinking about it ever since (I'm visiting from Oklahoma). Meats served market style and pay by the pound. It was pretty busy around 7:30 when we arrived, waited about 20 minutes in line for meat. We got a half pound of sirloin and a pound of brisket which were delicious. Good side selections, you get complimentary bread, pickles, onions, etc in addition to a la carte sides like mac and cheese, salad, baked potatoes. They also have a "bean pot" which are complimentary baked beans. There is indoor and outdoor seating with big family size tables. This was a nice experience! The setup and everything is pretty cool, as you walk up to the restaurant you can smell the bbq and it is definitely mouth watering ! The service is pretty good, you don't really have to wait on a waiter or waitress because you select everything your self .. It can feel a bit like a corral, but even during a busy summer week night the wait wasn't undue and we also had no trouble finding seating even for a huge group. There's something to eat for everyone, including the vegans and vegetarians. There's a lot of choices of sides and desserts for them. For the meat-eaters, well, it's a bonanza. Been 3 times now, can definitely say it's a 5 star on Yelp now! The price is fair for BBQ, the customer service is great, & the flavor has never failed me since I've started eating there! I would say top 3 BBQ spots in the DFW area. Brisket is soft and moist, ribs are tender, sausage is nice and seasoned, and the sauce is not too sweet and not too tangy. Found this gem thanks to fellow yelpers- I needed a decent spot to unwind for lunch (on a Friday) that was close to the airport. When in TX, BBQ always seems like a good idea. Pulling up and we see a lot of smoke- a good sign of some dang good bbq. The concept works for a place like this. You pick your meats first, they freshly cut the brisket right in front of you! Our favorite meats: pork ribs (holy yum fall off the bone type), jalapeño pork sausage, brisket. I do not recommend the chicken poppers, they were so incredibly dry. After picking meats you head inside to pick any sides, condiments, fixings, desserts & drinks. The sides didn't excite us as much as all the meat did so we only tried the fried okra, potato salad & jalapeño sweet corn. Let me tell you that jalapeño sweet corn was my FAV. Please do yourself a favor and try it. This spot has an awesome ambiance to it. Laid back, great for all ages, plenty of space (inside & out on the patio). I was in Texas for a couple days on business travel and decided to order Doordash at Hard Eight for a quick hotel night in. Being my first meal in Texas, Hard Eight set the high standard for my first taste of Texas food! Amazingly delicious. From the banana pudding to the pulled pork, this was the ultimate comfort for a night in after a LONG day of travel and work meetings. I ordered a whole feast from here and it was hard to limited my selections because everything looked so amazing: Brisket, Banana Pudding, Mac n' Cheese just to name a few. I only stayed in Texas 2 days and loved this place so much that I hauled a to-go platter of meats all the way home for Beau to try back in California. Here are my thoughts for my top picks at Hard Eight: Brisket - 5/5 SOO amazingly tender and yummy. The fats just melt in your mouth. I'm not a big eater but I had to order 2 of these orders in order to feel satisfied with the portion! It was so delish I only wish they gave more of this in one little to-go tray! it's so worth it! The second time I ordered (out of the 2 days I stayed in Texas), the brisket seems like a hit or miss, either cold and dry or really juicy and melted in your mouth. So it's definitely advised to dine in if you can here. I also ordered the brisket sandwich and it came with a bun to pair the brisket with. However, the sandwich order didn't have additional sandwich spread or sauce besides BBQ sauce and didn't add further complexity to the meat. So, I'd suggest getting the a la carte order of brisket standalone. Pork Ribs - 3/5 One of their most popular meats, but I found their ribs to actually be a bit dry and overcooked when I ordered this. Their brisket was better seasoned. However, the portion size for the ribs was great! We got half a rack for an order of 0.75 lb option on Doordash. It was about $17. Pulled Pork - 5/5 I honestly think the pulled pork was done the best out of all the meats we tried here. It was probably because they 'pulled and shredded' the meats so it was easier to taste the flavor and marinade. In terms of the flavor and seasoning, all the meats were of similar taste. Pulled pork was easiest to eat. Jalepeno Sausage - 5/5 !! Unless you're allergic, definitely go for the jalepeno instead of the regular flavor sausage. Pairing this alongside the other meats went perfectly well because this was the only spicy meat on the platter. Mac n' Cheese - 3.5/5 I ordered a whole pint of this because it just looked so delicious in the pictures but by the time it arrived to the hotel, I think it already got cold and the cheese froze up. I tasted a bite and could tell how amazing this would've tasted when it was hot out the pot. The thick multi-cheeses flavor with the big macaroni shells. Definitely next level good. I just wish it was still semi-hot. It seemed liked the restaurant might not have even heated it up when they packed it for me. It almost felt like it was taken out the fridge. Banana Pudding: 6/5 ! I am big into baking and pastry making so I just had to try their banana pudding. Bravo!! I ate this right up and licked every last remainder. This and the Oreo cup dessert Hard Eight has is a must! I just wish the portions here were a bit bigger and more generous for the price. Pro Tip: Definitely make sure to request the BBQ sauces and all their other house sauces they have available. It goes perfectly with the brisket and brings out the flavor of the smokiness in the meats! I took a peek at the 'indoor' pictures for this spot and wish I had the privilege of dining in! It looks like a true Texan experience of the BBQ grill set up and smokey smells! I will definitely make a stop here when I visit Texas again. read more

Amazing. We came after multiple people recommended this place as a go-to bbq spot when visiting the DFW area. We ordered brisket, pork ribs, jalapeño sausage, and chicken. For the sides, we got corn on the cob, potato salad, mac and cheese and a baked potato. For dessert we went for the peach cobbler and the whiskey buttermilk pie. The ribs were flavorful and fell off the bone. Not dry, not tough, it was just pure deliciousness. The brisket was just as flavorful and delicious. Perfectly cooked. The jalapeño sausage had a nice kick and not too spicy (this is coming from someone who usually doesn't like spicy food, it's doable). The chicken was very tender and also fell off the bone. I think it conks have used a tad more seasoning but I'd happily order it again. The peach cobbler...YUM! I went back and got a second cup to go. The buttermilk whiskey pie...I had never heard of this type of pie but friends suggested we definitely try it. No regrets. It was so good. vanilla. All in all, I left very full and happy. I don't like getting cafeteria style, cold toppings for my potato and trying to mix it into a potato that's already piled with meat - I'm not interested in doing food Olympics just to try to put some cold azz butter and cheese under the fatty meat pile they call bbq. YES!! I think it's a must if you're flying DFW. It's only 8 min away and such a great start/end to a DAL trip. When ordering, the first half where you get yours meats is like a Chipotle. Very cool spot, excellent for big groups! Best advice: come early cause the line gets long very quickly to get in this place! When you pull up, they line you up and parade you past the smokers where you get to select your meal. Meats are sold by the weight. I opted to stick to just meat eating on my first trip, but they do offer a big variety of traditional BBQ sides. They also have a BBQ sauce warming station that you can take as much sauce as you need. Additionally the soft drinks and teas are all self serve. We have always liked Hard8, but our last trip was a little disappointing. The meat was not up what we have come except. The brisket was a little dry and unusually fatty, and the ribs a little short on meat. Service was good as always and the ambience was the usual Hard8. Obviously this is a staple for the area, you can't even drive by and not smell and see the smoke from smokers. We came on a holiday week Wednesday and it was pretty packed, took about 30mins to get through the line. Once you get to the meat smoker it moves fast, you get your meats then grab your sides and pay. The best was the pulled pork, followed by the brisket and ribs. The creamed corn was by far the best side, followed by the Mac and cheese - I would skip coleslaw if you're thinking about it. The phone in the restaurant kept ringing and it echoed on the loud speaker so the entire time we were eating we kept hearing the phone ring - that was weird and they definitely should fix that! read more
