One Meat, Two Meat, Three Meat, More! We were craving some BBQ prior to leaving Dallas. We came across Bartley's and we left fulfilled! We each choose a portion that met our needs (I went with the 3 meat combo of brisket, ribs and smoked sausage). The sides were great too. And who knew that prices were also legit! What a deal!!! Once I informed the two employees behind the counter I was my first time, they took the time to provide a brief explanation of their offerings. They also suggested the plate dinners were ideal for a single diner. While I considered the ribs plate, I went with my favorite, the brisket. Unfortunately, they had run out of fried okra, so I chose the vegetables and barbecue beans for sides. Do bread, I opted do the jalapeño corn bread. When I was about to pay, I grabbed one of the banana pudding cups. My intent was to sample the sides before I had the brisket. After the first bite of the squash, I could not stop eating. Half the squash was gone by the time I started on the beans. The beans were just as scrumptious. The brisket was okay. A significant amount was dry; not too dry to fetch the barbecue sauce. The jalapeño corn bread provided more flavor than heat. Finally, the banana pudding was also okay. There were enough sliced bananas to cover the bottom of the cup. If it meant smaller sized wafers, I would have preferred more pieces. Fortunately, the pudding itself had a strong banana flavor. read more

I was in the area for a dental hygiene conference and one of my patients who lived in this area told me that I MUST try this place out before heading back to FL. I'm so glad I did! I went came around 3pm on a Saturday and thankfully it wasn't too busy, however I decided to order for take out since I had to get back to my Airbnb. It's pretty spacious and they have a lot of tables, plenty of parking on the plaza. The staff was very friendly and helpful, I had no idea what to get but decided to go with the 2 meats and went with the chopped brisket and chicken breast, both wow so delicious. For my sides I went with the carrots and Mac & cheese. I was told by the staff that the carrots is one of their best and they did not lie! Even if you're not a carrots fan, wow they're soo good! I love Mac and cheese so of course I had to try theirs. I just have to say writing this review is making me upset knowing I can't have this again until I go visit Texas again.. Wah I definitely recommend any local or tourist in the area if you're looking for a great bbq place, I know when I come back I'll be going back! read more

Today at noon it was a 3 meat plate lunch for $20 that included brisket, ribs, and sausage. Jap-cheese sausage was good. Thats it. "Marbled" brisket was dry and the ribs were literally just bones. I would have complained if i saw it in the line but the roll covered half the plate. The brisket is what it is, just poorly over-smoked. But no one in BBQ, should have served the bones I got. This is Bartleys biggest problem, consistency. At 2pm BBQ can be sketchy, but at noon and not crowded? And there's the answer of why. read more

Todays special was a Sandwich Plate, with 2 sides, for $8.99. You can choose any meat but their Chicken Breast is what's up! With it, I ordered fries and peach cobbler. Yum! The service at Bartley's is always great! Friendly folks serving up great food, what is not to like about that? The interior is pretty classical Texas barbecue joint. The ribs were tender and fall off the bone with a good flavor. The bbq beans were decent, but the green beans could've used some flavor. The jalapeño cheddar cornbread muffins were good. We dine here frequently, last time was a week or so ago, just now getting around to doing the review! Let me start by saying we love Bartleys! While virtually everybody else charges (for barbecue) by the half pound, Bartley still charges by the pound... and their pound prices are typically less than everybody else half pound price! I also like that Bartleys has jalapeño cheese, hot sausage, which I cannot find in several other places. All of their sides are very good, the only thing that's missing is ice cream. Unfortunately, they are popular and the line, sometimes is long and moves slowly. But once you get to where you can order, they do an excellent job! They are located inside of a strip shopping center and are not open on Mondays. The interior is rustic, which fits with what they're doing. However, it's clean and well-maintained! It is hands down, my favorite barbecue place! If you want the best value you can possibly get for barbecue this is where you should go! read more

I came here for dinner since my hotel was nearby. I did come here late (around 7:30 PM) so they were sold out of some items. I ordered the 3 meat combo plate which comes with two sides and bread (dinner rolls or cornbread). I chose the sliced brisket (marbled), smoked sausage, and pork ribs for the 3 meats. We also ordered the coleslaw, the mac and cheese, and the corn for sides. The brisket was a bit dry even though we didn't choose lean. The smoked sausage, the mac and cheese, and the ribs were delicious. The dinner rolls were buttery and fluffy. The coleslaw and corn tasted a bit old. The food didn't seem as fresh but we did come pretty late in the day. FYI - you get a free side when you order a combo meal with Yelp check-in. read more

The employees working the line were welcoming and obviously enjoyed being at work and serving their customers. The smell when you walked was amazing! The food on the line all looked fresh and they had a nice variety of sides. My husband got the three meat plate which comes with two sides and a roll. For under $15.00 it was a great value. I had the catfish basket served on Fridays only for $12.99. It is served with fries, hush puppies, and two sides. The catfish was absolutely delish. It came out piping hot, and the tarter sauce was also great. The fries unfortunately were pretty soggy. I did not eat them, and would ask to sub one of the sides from the line next time. Overall, this is a fantastic place for a filling value dinner. We both had enough to bring home leftovers for another meal. read more

This place has some of the best BBQ sauce I've had since I've moved here. One thing that also makes this place memorable, is the spicy corn bread. I wasn't a fan of the heat in the bread, nor not being informed that it was spicy, but I found the spicy corn bread very unique! The BBQ sauce was obviously the highlight for me, as with the meat. The brisket was absolutely delicious and very memorable. They have a friendly team working here. We came at a pretty busy evening with tables needing cleaning, but it's understandable with the amount of customers that day. The side of green beans and macaroni was 'okay'. The sides tasted very generic. However, with BBQ sauce and meat THAT delectable, you know where they put their investments! Great service, great BBQ sauce and fantastic meat. Drove past this place a couple of days ago and just had to get in here while in town. Plans were thwarted by an ice storm but I made time on the way to the airport and boy am I glad I stopped in!! The food is incredible, perfectly proportioned and some of the best, melt in your mouth, pulled pork I've had in a long while! Stopped in about 2:30pm so it was quiet but food was incredibly fresh and piping hot. Lots of carry out orders. And the staff...friendly as friendly can be! I got a little history from a guy as he lovingly sliced some brisket for me and a "light up your day" smile from the cutie serving up the sides. Bartley's is the very first place I experienced Texas BBQ and so I may be biased but I love this place. I have never had anything I bad here but my favorite is the chopped beef sandwich or the ribs. The staff is always extremely sweet and even though we only go once every 3 months or so they know us and get my girls a big bowl of pickles (their favorite thing about Bartley's). They also always make recommendations on how to order to get the biggest bang for the buck which is something I appreciate. Another bonus is on some nights of the week they do a live music sort of thing with the same guy. He'll take recommendations and does an excellent job interacting with the customers as well as the children such as asking their favorite country songs. I love this place and you should definitely check it out if you're in the Grapevine area looking for BBQ. read more

Bartley's is a great place for real Texas BBQ in the DFW area and my overall score is 4.5/5. I opted for the 3 meat 2 side option to sample as much as I can from the place. Meats:- 1) Sliced beef - Tender and falling apart, had a great smoke ring and the smoke flavor was overwhelming (in a good way) with each bite. The only downside was that it was lacking seasoning, which was a let down. 2) Ham - A generous portion of sliced ham, tender and very flavorful. 3) Hot Links - Perfectly juicy, with a snap back and a good burn. Sides:- 1) Fried okra - Golden brown, without a thick batter, which was great because I love okra and the taste and integrity of the ingredient was maintained while still retaining the all-important crunch. 2) Coleslaw - Was just fine, generic like you would expect from most places. The meal also came with BBQ sauce (which was a saver for the beef) and a very soft bread roll. I yelped best BBQ in Grapevine and this popped up. Friday's special was a 2 meat or ribs or catfish and 2 sides for $11.99. I ordered the chopped brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage with fried okra and mixed veggies with a cornbread muffin. Everything was delicious! The brisket was tender and the spicy BBQ was the best! The sweet sauce on the sausage was a great combo. My hubby ordered the pork ribs with coleslaw and pinto beans. The ribs were tender and flavorful. Again, the spicy sauce rocks! The coleslaw had apples in it and was delicious as well as the pinto beans - tender and juicy. For our first time we were impressed! We'll definitely be back when we're in town. read more

Another disappointing BBQ joint.I hate to say it but this place is average at best.I got the three meat plate with ribs,brisket and jalapeño sausage.My two sides were baked beans and potato salad.Let's start off with the brisket.It was supposed to be sliced but mine was in little chunks and it was dry and chewy.I was watching him when he was cutting it and I think he was cutting it wrong.Either way it wasn't too good.On to the ribs.They were ok but a little dry.Last but not least the sausage.Not bad but nothing special.Now to the sides.The beans were pretty good.As far as the potato salad it was a little to chunky for me and it seemed like it was store bought.One thing I will say they give you enough to eat.And their prices are pretty reasonable for BBQ.I guess this place is ok if you live around here but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

Had 2 meat plate, brisket and jalapeño sausage. Honestly, the sausage was ok, but clearly store bought and the brisket was absolutely the worst brisket I've ever had in my entire life. Makes Dickies look like 5 star BBQ. I have no idea how you can mess up a brisket that bad. Also, I've had better potato salad out of a tub from WalMart. Just flat out flavorless.
