First I got the brisket, regular potato salad, sweet corn, cheesecake, and a Diet Coke (I know, oink oink piggy amirite ). But yeah it was really frickin good like what am I supposed to say. The second time I got a half chicken, twice baked potato salad, Mac and cheese, sweet potato fries, cheesecake, and a ranch water. (Holy moo could he order any more food) and yeah I was stuffed and satisfied. Only complain is they didn't use topo Chico for the ranch water but a piggy eats whatever slop the farmer pours in the troph. Thanks hard eight. I'll be back.

The food was served cafeteria style and the seating reminded me of my high school lunchroom. I did not mind the setup; it was just unexpected. The first stop was at the pit master to choose the meat and I made sure to tell him it was my first visit. I got a juicy chopped brisket there. The next stop was where I chose my bread (I again mentioned that it was my first visit) and the person there recommended that I get the jalapeño bun and it was really good. It was not too spicy and added a nice flavor to the sandwich. He also suggested the street corn and the macaroni and cheese and I enjoyed those as well. I had a sprite fountain drink which did not taste that great so I got the sweet tea for my refill and that was really good. All the food was really good and there was plenty for me to take back to the hotel. I liked the fact that they had to-go containers and bags readily available so I didn't have to go back to the register to ask. I didn't try the peach cobbler until a couple days later but it was really good as well. I would definitely dine here if I am in Texas again and I highly recommend this restaurant. Everyone I spoke to was really nice and helpful throughout my visit. There were people walking around and checking on everyone and one disposed of my tray/trash while I was getting a refill and another brought the to-go container and bag to me since I did not see the spot where they were situated. It was a great start to my visit.

The brisket was good, and the ribs were phenomenal. But the best part was the customer service. After hearing I was from out of town, and seeing I had brisket and ribs on my plate, the guy taking my payment said I should try the sausage, so he gave me a plate of sausage on the house. Great service! Then when I was leaving, I said another thank you, and a young lady asked me if I wanted a tour of the smokers and kitchen! So cool! She, Kamy, turned out to be one of the owners. Had a great tour, met the pit boss, and when I told her how much I enjoyed the ribs, she said they make their own rub, and would I like a sample to take home? Of course I said yes, thinking she'd give me a little sample, but she brought out a big ziplock bag ... probably 2 lbs of rub. Amazing! They made such an impression, I went back for lunch the next day as Monday is the day they have burnt ends ... and their maple-chipotle sauce on them made them amazing! So ... there are a lot of great BBQ joints in Dallas, but they've definitely made me a fan! Thank you Kamy and the LaFaver family!

Great barbecue does not need sauce. I was tempted to drown the brisket in it. First time I enjoyed the sides more than the meats. Initially, I was skeptical of the pinto beans. I would have preferred a more traditional sauce, but the pinto beans was delectable. The fried sides were made to order. As a result, they were fresh and hot when they were served about 10 minutes later. After a so-so meal, I was looking forward for soft serve ice cream. Unlike other restaurants, theirs is only complimentary with a kid's meal. Otherwise, it was 50 cents. Since many diners may not carry change, there should be an option to pay at the register. Ending on a the menu prices are inclusive of gratuity. Unlike other counter-service restaurants, their POS did not prompt for gratuity. Many ask for a tip before any service had been conducted.

We started off with the smoked wings appetizer which was as close to the old JR's Grill (IYKYK) as we've ever found. Fantastic. We moved on to the smoked prime rib and blackened redfish for dinner. Both were amazing. The smoked prime rib might be the best smoked steak I've ever had, and I've won awards for my smoking talent. The potatoes au gratin were from another universe. So fantastic! Do not sleep on this place, it's one of the best in DFW.

Matt our excellent server has a great sense of humor and welcoming personality. So much that we had to chat with the Manager, Bobby about him. The rib eyed steak - medium rare was scrumptious and the sides: mushrooms, baked potatoes & green beans cooked perfectly. Compliments to their chef/s! With what's happening in the world, the steaks are a little bit on the *ozempic thinner side but we still highly recommend because of the quality. Can't wait to bring our good friends from Arlington, down this way again. We drove over 30 minutes. We came to celebrate life! While other servers seemed more focused on socializing with regulars than doing their jobs, Taylor stood out immediately. She stayed engaged, checked in at the right times, and made sure everything was handled without needing to be asked twice. That's not luck--that's professionalism. She brings a mix of intelligence and humor that makes the experience better without being forced or over the top. More importantly, she executes. Orders are right, timing is right, and the overall experience feels intentional--not neglected. If you're going to Rowdy Cowboy, don't leave it to chance. Ask for Taylor by name. She's an asset to that place, and based on what I saw, she's setting a standard others there aren't meeting

My Overall Rating - 3 1/2 Stars (5 Stars if you only care about service) Atmosphere - It's pretty electric. There is a large bar in the middle, tons of bar seating, and during my Thursday visit for lunch, it was packed. The vibes are good, and tons of TVs are showing sports. If you have an XY chromosome, this is your place. 1 Star. Service - Rowdy Cowboy is known for having great servers who are very friendly (and nice to look at). All tables were taken, so I sat at the bar. The bartenders were fast, efficient, and very friendly. They got my order wrong, but I don't care. Their friendliness made me not care. 1 Star. Food - Look, if you're here, you're not here for the food. I started with the Steak Frites. The steak was super tender but lacked seasoning. The shoestring fries were awesome and made the perfect pairing to the steak. I ordered the Brisket Sliders but ended up with Wagyu Sliders. I didn't mind because our bartenders were so friendly, but the sliders were just ok. Remember, this place is not known for the food. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Rowdy Cowboy knows exactly what it does well, and believe me it does it well. In fact, out of all the restaurants in this genre, Rowdy Cowboy has the friendliest staff. Yes, I will be back. 1 Star.
