This 2nd generation family owned and OPERATED hardware store has had several setbacks since the original Owners (Tony & Martha) passed away handing it down to their children who are now running the business. Times have certainly changed - and the family owned businesses in our community are working much harder to keep up with the chain type stores. Many people in Glendale and the entire Valley knew Tony & Martha personally and their children as they grew up in the business. This store so small was often referred to as - IF YOU CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE - GO TO T&M - THEY HAVE EVERYTHING - and very seldom did a customer leave empty handed, because somewhere in that small - fully packed store with wall to wall products -- they had what you needed. If not Tony knew where you could get it, if it wasn't in our valley he would bring it in from out-of-town and you would come back for it in a few days. No internet or Amazon back in those days, mind you. lol The same customer service still existing this neighborhood Hardware Store and I find it sad to see that "YELP" Has listed it as "PERMANENTLY CLOSED" Because it is NOT - IT IS OPEN! Do to several setbacks and now the Covid-19 situation (which we pray will end soon) the store has cut hours) -- the main change is fewer employees and instead of circles taped or painted on the floor 6' apart all over the store . . . . Can those of you who have been our customers all these years imagine that in here! That's more than funny! Anyway - Now our customer have sidewalk pick-up whether they call ahead or not. You just ring the bell we answer from where ever we are in the store, take your order or description and go pull it. We come back out to you, make sure it's correct, make a ticket and bag it and you're done and on your way. Next customer please. So wear your it sweater and bring your music and relax while you shop. (I mean, we shop) And you don't have to worry about dots and arrows allover the floor. Unfortunately, I have to be in a Wi-Fi area in order to use my phone like that. And they don't have Wi-Fi. I needed very specific things size wise. And you're not allowed to open packaging but when you pick up a lamp and you lightly shake it and you hear broken glass, but you're not allowed to open up the package and see what exactly broke why bother buying it at half price if you're not gonna be able to use it. This happened repeatedly also I was looking for a specific size bathroom medicine cabinet. Since much of the writing on the boxes didn't have dimensions, and I couldn't open the boxes because it's against the rules. I could find boxes that I think might've had the right sized item inside but I really couldn't take the gamble especially when I can't see if they're scratches or dents or a door ripped off, etc. I think the only thing I will come back here for is tile. If you're doing a craft project and you need a few pieces of tile or you're doing something special to cover a table top and you only need a few feet. This is the place to come for the tile. Unfortunately, the majority of the tile is not labeled and not priced and I hate having to run up to the counter every single time I find something to find out how much it's gonna cost. It's just ridiculous. I found a similar place, not too far away, where the people don't mind if you open the items to look at them and they will even go so far as to take a light fixture and wire it to a test area to show you that it works. I asked a young employee for help but he seemed to be new so he walked up the isle to Robert to ask for help. Robert yells "what do you want?!" The kid says something & Robert says "go help her, I'm busy" as he's NOT helping anyone. Then he tells the kid "go get someone else to help her. What does she want?!" ALL this as I'm standing at the end of the isle where I could clearly hear him & his LOUD refusal to help the kid help me. He FINALLY walks over & I tell him to not speak to the kid like that in front of customers & that the way he was talking to him & about me was rude and not good customer service. Robert says "okay, yeah let's just find what you need." AVOID ROBERT at all costs! And if they have several Robert's there, well he ruined it for them all. He's rude and unprofessional.
