Now I'm usually someone who wouldn't give two f's for a bad store but I just had to make an account for this. This place is a shame. Trust the reviews that this place is awful. I came in looking for thrift (drain cleaner), the moment I walked through the door not even a welcome in, and then the old African American man and this older Caucasian woman treated me like I was an idiot. Just pointing instead of helping the other lady just laughing as the man disrespected me. Now I've worked in retail myself. But to be this condescending to your customers is no bloody wonder why this place is bombarded with terrible reviews. Besides the terrible service there isn't anything there worth buying not mentioning the ridiculous prices. Take my word for it, you have more luck buying off Amazon than this depressing store. This place used to be awesome. I went here to remodel a few houses. I wanted to support small business. Now it just sucks. One of the many paper notes on the window said back it 30 min. I waited 1hour and 45 min. The guy seemed to almost be inconvenienced that I was even there. And after all that, did not have the part I needed. The paint is so faded out front it makes the area look trashy. Sad to see this once great place die. After decades I will never go back. read more

A friend of mine was needing some parts to repair one of his faucets and asked me to help. Not sure why he asked me to help since I'm not a plumber nor do I know much about plumbing outside of the human body : -) We went to the Homeowners Plumbing Supply store on 51st and Thunderbird to get what we though we needed. This place has been in business for a long time, owned and operated by an experienced plumber. It's in an older strip center and doesn't look like much to do from the outside and inside, but they know what they are doing and have what you need. They can help the most uneducated and ignorant plumber out there, and that was us! We showed the plumber dude a picture of what we thought we needed and he found us what we really needed after asking us a few questions. He also recommended the things we needed to help in putting everything back together easier. I'm a fan of this place and recommend you try them the next time you decide to tackle a plumbing project at home. read more

Just had bath / shower drywall replaced and shower retiled and found out previous owner had pieced together the shower - things did not work. The house is old and the valve, although working, is obsolete. So in talking with a plumbing company it looked like there going to cut out a lot of the tile and into the wall to install a new diverter. Went by HPS with pictures and parts (found out the shower was a mixture of multiple mfg). The professionals at HPS set me up with parts for the original diverter and everything fit; all is well (and I saved likely a couple thousand dollars). read more

Extremely rude, terrible customer service. Was referred here by a Home Depot employee, as the employee said this shop is staffed with plumbing professionals. First of all, small businesses should be appreciative of referrals from anyone. I walked in, had questions (I'm obviously not a plumber), and am not well versed in the names/ lingo of the materials which needed repaired, how the repair should be properly done. The elderly man was very condescending to me- talking down to me like I was stupid. You're the "plumbing professional", you tell me. I didn't enter this profession, so stop expecting me to have your level of expertise. NO REFUND FOR YOU (Defective Part): The experienced plumber I called to replace my Delta shower faucet cartridge had a truck break down in front of my house. (not his fault, things happen) While he waited for his tow truck he came in to do the job. Not having the correct bonnet ring or cartridge on his truck I MYSELF drove to the Homeowners Plumbing Supply for the parts. I received knock-off non-Delta parts. Upon installation, the cartridge was found to be defective. It was spraying water out of places we didn't know it had. The plumber fixed his truck and bought the genuine part the next day. and all was well. The new proprietor denied me a refund saying he "could not resell" the part again. I told him I hope not, an experienced plumber has deemed it defective. He said that the plumber put it in wrong. Not likely. I was going to buy about $100 in other things I needed, but I walked out. Not going back. I found what I needed at a reputable hardware store. read more

When my toilet started running constantly, I headed to the standard home Improvement stores with a picture of the non-standard innards of my toilet tank. At three different stores, no one knew how to help because they had never seen a toilet quite like mine. I had been for the last three days back-and-forth to Home Depot with all kinds of ideas as to how to unclog my shower and toilet. I've been a lot of money, and nothing worked. So I was ready to snake the drain and I needed the cleanout plug removed which he felt was not able to assist me with for 2 1/2 days. This place has a lot of things but other stores don't carry. The guy at the counter is very knowledgeable and helpful. But be careful about the return policy to try to get out of doing any returns and make you eat the price. Often I'll get a few extra things just in case I might need them and return them after the job but in this case it really cost me. read more

Steve is the best! I was looking for a part for my shower and someone suggested I give him a call. I emailed him picture and he explained to me how to take off all the pieces. He hadn't yet met me and still had the patience to walk me through it. Later that day I came in to get the replacements and again he patiently explained to me what I need to do to get it connected again. I brought it home and had trouble putting it together. I called him just as they were closing and he stayed on the phone with me until it was working again which was a good 15 minutes after closing. I am excited to know that there is someone I can call the next time I need and I won't have to call a handyman right away. read more

The owner asked me to email him a picture of my toilet that I needed a lid for. Sure enough he emailed me back that he has the lid in stock. I got there and he GAVE me the lid. This guy knew in 2 seconds what it was, who manufactured it, how long ago it was being used in the valley and he gave me the correct parts. I was in and out in a couple minutes. Had a leaky toilet and decided to try to fix on my own. In removing the suspect part, a piece of it broke off. I called this place and was told they had the part. Owner (?) said he didn't know if it would fix the problem. It did not. In researching online found the part had been recalled. Flushmate sent me all new parts and even provided a plumber to install. Tried to return part to business but was told since it was open, he would not take it back. Wondered why he hadn't told me about the recall!!! He said, he "doesn't sell cars". Called Flushmate and they sent me a new part to return. He would not take it because "he had already restocked the part" and I, apparently, do not "understand retail". All he wants to do is argue and both times I left abruptly, heading home to write this up for all of his would be customers. Be sure you need the parts absolutely, because no matter what, he will not take them back. read more

I have used Homeowners Plumbing Supply many times over the years. I was first sold on this store when I found my a shutoff valve that is available at a local box store was flawed by design and would fail in time. Not only did I purchase a new shutoff valve with better quality, but it was also less expensive than the box store brand. Since then I have purchased shower valves, shower knobs, and recently more shut off valves and drain trap assemblies for a friend's bathroom project. The owner is a master plumber and has guided me in my home projects with expert advise. I can't find anyone to help me with this type of knowledge in a box store. The store seems to have everything that you need to complete a plumbing project. I highly recommend it to my friends. read more
