a slice of cake on a plate with a knife

We purchased a custom cake for my birthday girl , design of cake was great , unfortunately the sides was ruined through transport. Wasn't sure if we ordered a butter cream or a chocolate cake because the ratio of buttercream overpowered the cake , overly sweet for 7 year olds . 3 stars because they have a great variety of cupcakes which I should have opted for

Franklin, cosmic brownie, early grey, chocolate cheesecake, red velvet and vanilla sprinkle

The cupcakes were phenomenal! Highly reccomend - my entire family enjoyed them. The service was great, it's always nice to be greeted with a smile.

The box height does not fit the cake. The box cover has to be half open and taped on both sides so as to not push down the decoration

I had birthday cake ordered from this shop. I got their name from a bake shop where I normally ordered birthday cakes for my family but they are fully booked so they suggested to me to try this Happy Cakes. Well, our experienced with their cake and service was disappointing. 1) I went to the store to pickup the cake. It was an 8in Get Cherried Away cake. I was surprised when the lady packed the cake. The box doesn't fit the height of the cake. She let the box cover half open and taped the cover flaps on both sides so as not to push down the decorations on the top. If you are selling signature cakes like this, you must have at least a proper box that would fit the cake. Even if removing those cherries and icing decorations on the top of the cake, the box is still short. 2) The layering of the cake was not done properly. I have ordered cakes from other stores and when you cut the cake you can see how the layers inside the cake hold up. Theirs does not. So when we took a slice from the cake, it would crumble when you put it on a plate. The cake is too moist. And the taste of the cake and the Bavarian filling is similar to the ready made cake you can order from a food store. I could have just bought a cake from a food store and would definitely get a proper box and would not expect so much on the taste as I get what I'm paying for. We just consumed a quarter of the cake and all of us didn't finish our slices. The icing is fine. 3) As what the other reviewers have mentioned, the staff who I dealt with when I picked-up my cake was cold and not friendly. Except for the one who took my order, she seems to be friendly. I entered their store with a smile and make sure that I follow their safety guidelines on Covid19. The bright side of all these is that the cake was for my birthday and not for my wife's and I'm the one who ordered the cake. Otherwise, it would be a different level of disappointment than I had.

    So good! (May 2022)

Delicious cupcakes with a vast variety of flavors. My absolute favorite is their Red Velvet - probably the best Red Velvet cupcakes I've tried due to their amazing icing! Honestly, their best cupcakes are anything that contain their cream cheese icing. The buttercream icing is good, but doesn't hold a candle to their cream cheese icing. On this occasion, I decided to try their filled cupcakes. I tried the following: BC Becky (get this!), Lemon Lust, Strawberries N' Cream, Chocolate Cheesecake (get this!), Boston Cream (get this!), Chocolate Coconut (get this!),Cadbury Cream Egg, Strawberry Poptart, Cookie Dough. Their flavors change all the time (the online order form only has their regular flavors), so I'd recommend going in person to order to check out their ever changing offerings. If you love cupcakes (especially Red Velvet), you'll love this place!

I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon as I was in the area and it was an impulse purchase of a cupcake. Their flavour selection was lacking as it seemed like most flavours were sold out for the day. I got the last "lemon lust" cupcake. Cupcake was fresh. There was lemon curd filling with lemon icing. The cake part was moist. No complaints other than the lack of options.

These are not your grandma's cakes and cupcakes! Walking in this warm little bakery is like being greeted by the scent of angels and sweet sugary delight. There are a plethora of custom cake examples upfront for all sorts of occasions and the cupcakes further back are carefully encased to seal in the flavor. We stuck to cupcakes as we're in town on vacation, but I would definitely get a birthday cake from here if I lived closer. Let's talk cupcakes. Flavorful, moist, and easy to eat more than one! We ended up getting about a dozen for our group and everyone was amazed at the accuracy of the flavors - the strawberry milkshake actually tasted like a real shake. My main choice was the red velvet based off of Rachel's (the owner) recommendation and it did not disappoint. Thick cream cheese icing over the most delicious red velvet base. Rachel and her mom were so patient with us as some in our group had difficulty choosing among the tempting selection of cupcakes and were just as much of a highlight as the desserts! I would definitely come here again next time we're in town!

Happycakes made our wedding cake 6/22/19 and it was absolutely gorgeous and delicious! They made my sisters wedding cake years ago and I was happy to have my wedding cake made by them. Highly recommend for any special occasion or for just their cupcakes that are also so yummy!!!

Great looking cakes, great service on short notice, no complaints. Highly recommend this place!

We came back for my son's first birthday and once again, Rachel delivered!! This time I wanted to do a Toy Story themed birthday party so requested a Toy Story cake and Rachel made the most amazing and tasty cake that got lots of compliments. Overall, Happycakes has never disappointed and I will definitely return for future birthdays!

The restaurant is beautiful with both Indian and Japanese design sensibilities. They have a table service restaurant with both high tea and an extensive a la carte menu, and it looks like you can also buy mithai in bulk. The food isn't really Japanese-Indian fusion as you might expect, but more like Japanese impression of Indian food, if that makes sense? There's a few hints of Japanese and Asian influence, but the menu is mostly modern Indian. All vegetarian. There's no vegan or gluten free options for afternoon tea, but the a la carte menu includes many clearly labeled vegan and GF dishes. I wanted to try the afternoon tea set to get a wide sampling of their offerings. The set included: corn spinach puff, paneer tikka slider, cream cheese cucumber sandwich, samosa, chutneys for dipping, manchurian skewers, orange cranberry scone with whipped cream, rose rasmalai cake, dodha crunch, motichoor cheesecake parfait, and the choice between masala chai, coffee, or hot/iced caffe latte. It's $32/person for the set, which is a great price. I also appreciated that it was possible to order the set for just one person since it seems like many teahouses will only do it for 2+ people. I thought all of the items in the set were pretty good, and there was a balance between the sweet and savoury items. The only things that really left anything to be desired were that the scone was a bit dry and crumbly, and I thought the tandoori paneer could have been more flavourful. In general the flavours of the savoury items were a bit more subtle than in typical authentic Indian food, but for the most part it didn't come across as bland to me, just a different take on it. The standouts in the set were: the paneer slider - even if the paneer itself didn't impress, I loved the almost flaky texture of the pav - the manchurian, and the rose rasmalai cake. Also, the cream cheese cucumber sandwich had cilantro or chutney or something in the cream cheese which made it much more interesting than the plain version of this sandwich. The masala chai (my chosen drink) was also very good. It was served in a pot that contained 2 small servings. My waiter was very friendly and stopped by a few times to check in. When I was done eating and wanted my bill, it was easy to get his attention. I visited at what seemed like a quiet time so I didn't have much competition for attention. One thing that I thought was odd was when he gave me the machine to pay, there was no tip option - it would be cool if they had a no-tip policy, but I never saw any mention of it, so I wonder if he accidentally bypassed the tip when putting in my charge. It was an interesting and very pleasant experience. I was so curious about this place that I made a trip out from Vancouver just to try it (and couldn't get anyone willing to go to Surrey for afternoon tea with me, hence the afternoon tea order for one), and it was worth the trip!

Expected it to be a small place serving some desserts but this place is huge and had a very young vibe! We looked around and everyone was digging into a big tub spooning out it's "shaved ice" like contents into small bowls and enjoying it. That's what I want i decided. It was Bingsoo! So delicious!! It comes in fruit flavours among others and we opted for strawberry bingsoo but I saw everyone going for a mango one. The bingsoo came in a big tub like bucket which had ice cream in the middle , ice on top and it was covered with strawberries and topped with whipped creme . We enjoyed it and it was frankly a little too much for 3 of us. We also tried the Nutella filled pancakes which were flaky and light! Definitely worth trying. The matcha mango was also good. The blackberry lavender matcha was too floral for our liking. However, eventually you get used to it and then it becomes more enjoyable. The pandesals were super fresh and we loved both the ube and strawberry butters that came with it. I wish that they came a bit warmer, so that the butters could have melted a touch. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 sandwiches. I especially loved the arugula on the mozerella sandwich. The blackberry brie sandwich could have used a touch more brie, but was still delicious. The cheesecakes were good, but a bit too sweet. The strawberry was my favorite. I enjoyed tasting multiple flavors. Their red velvet cupcake was extremely moist. The pistachio malasada was cute and flavorful. The filling to pastry ratio was good. I think that the experience could have been better balanced if there were a few more savory items. One thing that we noticed was that all of the pastries including the malasada were cold. I can understand that there are some food safe requirements that need to be met in how desserts are stored.
