The items I got were delicious, I love supporting the little mom and pop shops. But the shear level of creativity that this place has for baked goods is next level. Like I'm not kidding I haven't been to another backers that so far out of the box yet. I got a meat pie ( that's not that creative) but man was it tasty. The twix cheesecake is what caught my attention though, I had to double take. I love twix and I love love cheesecake so I had to get one. Then I started looking at all the others creative collaborations of some of my favourite treats and the mashups between, pies, cakes, bischoff, twix, Oreos, brownies and cheesecakes I almost lost it. I had to rein it in before I put myself in a diabetic coma . The service was awesome as well, all in all if you have a sweet tooth craving and want something that's differently tasty it's worth stopping in to see if there's something that's differently tickles your fancy

Cookie dough croissant and nanaimo bar!
Maggie L.

I recently ordered my birthday cake from Punk Rock Pastries in Burnaby, and was very impressed. The cake was beautifully decorated and tasted amazing. We also picked up a Nanaimo bar and a cookie dough croissant; both were on the sweet side but also absolutely delicious. The cookie dough croissant was a standout for us, and I'm already planning to go back for another! Cute little shop, not much sit-down room though! A huge plus is that this bakery is nut-free, which is reassuring for those with allergies (peanut allergy here!) They were super friendly and responsive when I had questions about my allergy too. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Vegan cookie

I was pleasantly surprised with a couple of sweet treats. I had the vegan cookie which was a shortbread type of cookie with hard icing on top. The icing was a bit too hard on my teeth. I enjoyed the delish donut which was perfect when I bit into it. Not too cakey. If you love icing, you'll find it smothered in icing which isn't too sweet. I am not a fan of icing. If you're seeking something 'different' in ideas and wanting delicious pastries, this is the place! There are vegan options too! Looking forward to visiting this place in person.

This place is cool. Much cooler than me and that's okay! Punk Rock Pastries offers up some super creative and unique baked goods. While the storefront is small, they've got a mighty bakery setup going on in the back making everything from custom cakes and phallic cookies to donuts and sausage rolls! Do they taste as good as they look? Yes. The apple crumble donut was loaded with apple goodness, the blue velvet cheesecake bar was flavourful, and the sausage roll was exactly what I was hoping it would be. I look forward to returning to grab some goodies for the next party!

This place is a household staple within our family. Small storefront with amazing options for everyone on your list - Treats ranging from normal to obscene! Lots of the baked goods are reeeeaaally sweet, so be ready! I usually store them and eat them over a few days otherwise it feels like I'm about to go into a sugar coma. You can order custom pieces as well! Ordered a custom cake for someone's birthday and we were amazed at the quality and taste! Almost didn't want to eat it. The best part is that you can go in during different holidays and find themed treats! Had the pleasure of seeing them at the weirdo market for Christmas and stocked up for the holidays! Cant wait until my next visit to see all the new creations!

Donuts

Funky little shop with amazing selection of baked goods, and the best donuts around! Hilarious adult themed cookies as well.

Stunning and reasonably priced. I prefer the vanilla over the chocolate cupcakes (and am usually more of a chocolate person). Very unique creations that everyone should experience. The staff are polite and the business is conscious about food waste. A must try and great hidden gem!

Had an awesome time visiting this little gem of a place! ... a PUNK ROCK GEM! The place was so cool to check out and there is always something to admire in the shop! ... not to mention the CRAZY sweets and pastries there! I went later in the day, so lots of things were bought already! I got to try a Wormy cake which was a pumpkin cinnamon spiced cake! Was expecting it to be really sweet with the fondant outside, but it was DELICIOUS! .. and i was in awe when i saw that they baked Foccacia too! So i got me that bread! Hollie was super rad at the store, with such feel good vibes~! Def will be returning for more shiz to stuff my gob!

Incredible donuts! Get anything that contains their delectable buttercream! (March 2022)

I can totally see why they won the Food Network's Big Bake. Wow, the quality, creativity, and taste of their donuts are amazing! I heard about them as they are part of Vancouver Foodster's Donut Challenge. Their offering is the Banoffee Donut and it is so incredibly good! I wish this was part of their regular menu as it is absolutely delicious! It is "caramel buttercream stuffed with a sautéed bananas tart topped with vanilla buttercream and rich caramel sauce". One of the best donuts I've had in Vancouver. Honestly, get anything that has their buttercream or whipped cream as they are off the charts! If you are a buttercream lover, you will be in heaven as I don't think I've tasted a better buttercream around. We also tried their Oreo Donut, John Got Stuffed, Strawberry White Chocolate Donut, Butterscotch Bliss, and Biscoff Donut. Aside from the Banoffee Donut, my other favorites were the John Got Stuffed (a jam and cream long john that has the most delectable whipped cream) and the Strawberry White Chocolate. All in all, though, all of their donuts were excellent and you could tell how much care and quality were put into them. And once again - the buttercream! I will definitely be back to try more of their original and decadent-looking desserts. On top of that, their service is wonderful and their online ordering system is very easy to use. So glad to have discovered this place!

My sister told me about Punk Rock Pastries in Burnaby Heights, so I thought I'd give it a try.. cause I'm a big pastry lover! I ordered the Unicorn Poop, S'mores donut, Zombie donut, Tubby Johns, and Strawberry Curb Stomb. I must say, they were all delicious! They've got some pretty cool looking treats.. bright, colourful, unique. Realistic, gory, scary looking treats - such talent! And their cakes looks amazing! I will definitely be ordering again in the near future.

Cupcakes I got for my partners b day! Black Forest with Motörhead logo. So awesome.

The menu has shrunk considerably and their business days/hours are also a lot less than what it was previously. The drinks were not as tasty as they used to be. My Blue Rose drink was the best of the bunch and I would say even that was just OK. I enjoyed the Lychee jelly in my drink. That was probably the best part of the drink. The liquid part was kinda "meh" for me. I think the best thing we ordered was the matcha soft serve ice cream. On the flip side, there was a guy playing piano there and they were taking requests. I suggested Demon Slayer and the guy played the famous "Gurenge" song by Lisa from season one of Demon Slayer. That was kinda cool. He was a very good pianist. Great way to liven the atmosphere. Also, there was a guy who came around and gave us all tiny paper cranes. It's nothing much, but still always nice to be gifted with anything at all. Business must be hard for them. It would sure be nice to see them return to how they used to be, with a bigger menu, tastier drinks and more days/hours again. We love this place for the manga/ anime vibes that it exudes, and love the Matcha soft serve ice cream they sell here. Really wanna give this place a higher rating but the drinks were really not up to par this time, and as much as we love the Matcha ice cream, it is not by itself enough to warrant giving out a higher rating. If they could just improve the quality of their drinks again...then even if they menu remains limited, at least if everything they serve is of good quality...that would be enough to merit a higher rating.

Well I took the fish shaped waffle off the soft serve and ate the sorbet with a spoon then took a bite out of my waffle fish! Apparently after watching everyone else around me, you're supposed to just bite the waffle while it sits atop the soft serve. Oh well I guess I'll have to come back and try it that way next time! The soft serve is very light and the flavours are delicate. The waffle is really yummy with a soft chew. It's a busy and popular spot filled with teens and twenty somethings. The lineup moves pretty quickly but seats are often taken. Tables don't get wiped down often as staff are busy making cones but you can always ask them to wipe it down for you. Great dessert place for something light and refreshing.

Ghost's Drool: The dessert arrives in a ceramic bowl that resembles a cracked egg shell. It contains a warm pistachio paste that's thick and smooth. This bowl is a delicious showcase of textures. Double Skin Milk Pudding: Somewhere between a custard and a pudding, it's silky, smooth, and really creamy. It has a thick "skin" on top formed as the custard cools, which adds a nice chewy texture to this smooth steamed dessert. Double Skin Milk Pudding with Taro: This version of the milk pudding contains a clump of soft, chewy, purple taro. Black Sesame Soup with Mini Glutinous Rice Balls: The hot black sesame paste is fragrant and nutty, probably the best flavor in this shop. The soupy paste is also thick and smooth.
